Chapter 123: Noble’s way of fighting

The guest seats are lined up as if enclosing the round stage.
To think that this is the way I would see a coliseum which I have always thought about visiting once. You can’t predict what life will bring you.
It isn’t the famous Roman type though.
At the outskirts of the academy, there’s a giant arena for the tournament. It surprises me to see this enormous construction, which could pass to history in the future, as a facility of the school. When looking at the conduct of the students and the teachers of Rotsgard Academy, there are times when one would think that this is a second-rate institution you could find anywhere. Even so, when looking at the facilities and its scale, it reminds you that this is the highest academic center of the hyumans.

“What was Rembrandt-san hesitating in saying?” (Shiki)

“His daughters’ safety… is most likely not. It looked like he was heading to the merchant guild today regarding that case. Might be a considerable problem” (Makoto)

“The Hopelace pressure?” (Shiki)

“It could be” (Makoto)

I was completely underestimating the stratum called noble.
It may have been for only one night, but just in case I had Shiki posted. In the meal of the store that they first went to, there was poison that would make them lose their sense of balance; in the water that the waiter provided at the dormitory, there was poison that induced diarrhea and stomachache; at night, there were several assassins. It was truly a full-course of actions to obstruct their participation in the tournament. Listening to the report, while it was in the range of my expectations, it still amazed me quite a lot.

At the appointed day, or so to say, today, I thought it already finished and was feeling relief.
And then, this time I received a sudden call from Rembrandt-san. It seems the Merchant Guild said something happened regarding me. He said he would head there and see what he can do. Since his wife also accompanied him, today Rembrandt-san isn’t here to watch. I do feel that this also has to do with the obstruction of the big noble.
‘Do nobles go that far?’ Is what I thought.
This is a school, and no matter what his family is, he is still one student. In other words, the methods of poison and assassins that I made a guess of, were the worst methods. Because you know, even if it is a tournament, it is just one event in the school festival.

“I am surprised he could go this far…”  (Makoto)

I look at the chart of pairings in my hands.
There, I have a paper that has written ‘tournament chart’ in it. A pamphlet of the tournament.
The warrior category and the magician category are divided the same. After several steps, it is made so that the categories clash at one point.
From my class, there’s: Jin, Misura, Daena and Yuno in the warrior category; Amelia, Sif and Izumo in the magician category.
And the ones participating are the ones that passed the preliminaries, in total, there are 40. By the way, after the individual battles, there will be team battles, so there aren’t many people participating in the individual battles.
This most likely means that there are more students better suited for team battles. Probably because instead of having a crushing defeat in individual fights and leave good results in the team battles, it is better to just participate in the team battle and leave only good results, is what I suspect. Because it is plenty possible to leave good results by the abilities of the people around you after all. The people that didn’t watch it directly will only see the final results that will be remaining.
The students that are only participating in the team battles can put a front saying that they are scared of injuries that might happen in the individual battles, to pull back from participating. How well done. Tte, I unintentionally ended up thinking about it in the bad direction.
By the way, Jin and the others will be participating in both. And the second son of the Hopelace household will be as well.

“The first matches will be Jin vs Misura, Daena vs Yuno. The winners will be clashing later. In the magician category: first match is Amelia vs Sif, and the winner will clash with the seeded, Izumo. So he can even manipulate the tournament chart…” (Makoto)

“Meaning, it will be a battle between Waka’s students. I am looking forward to it” (Tomoe)

“Tomoe… What an incredibly positive way of thinking. I am simply surprised. Isn’t it an ‘everything goes’? He can even put his hands on the rules” (Makoto)

Maybe Tomoe doesn’t understand what this implicates, she speaks something out of point. What I am trying to say is that the rules are futile to nobles. Even when he is still a student, he is still able to push this much authority.
This is too incredible.

“It seems the Hopelace household has more authority than I thought, and the academy is not a place of fairness huh. That bunch over there too…” (Makoto)

I look at the people sitting on the guest seats that are far away from the general seats of us.
There are several faces I have seen before lined up. Proof that my surroundings have become even messier than before.
There are several people close to the Academy principal, whose only thing I know of is his face. They are probably people from the four major powers. In other words, Limia or Gritonia. Sitting in a place a little away, is the Adventurer Guild’s head, Root. In the line of people related to the church, there’s the priest I met before, and there’s also the big-shot of Lorel, Sairitz. They most likely don’t know that this matches were fixed by a mere student. But my students have suffered damage from it, so in my eyes, they are reflected as having the same offense.
In those people, there is one that I had no choice but to have connections with because of my thoughtlessness, and there’s also another that locked me because I am an otherworldler.
… Now that I think about it, since the time I came here, I have been lying a lot. That has been piling up bit by bit, and I feel like it’s beginning to turn troublesome. To protect the lie, make a lie. There’s no end.

“Waka?” (Tomoe)

“That is… now, after all this time of moving around huh. This is probably the limit. Hey, Tomoe” (Makoto)

“Y-Yes?” (Tomoe)

Why are you stuttering Tomoe? Is it bad for me to do a serious face?

“Do you want the four seasons in Asora?” (Makoto)

“! Of course!” (Tomoe)

“… I see” (Makoto)

“Waka-sama, I found something interesting so I bought it-desu wa~~, just in case, I bought enough for three” (Mio)

“Thanks, Mio” (Makoto)

“You are now capable of being mindful huh, Mio” (Tomoe)

When I take the paper bag from Mio, a scent resembling basil tickles my nose. Today’s priority is scent? The heat transmits to my hands and tells me that this is a warm food. I’m looking forward to it. I hear a low ‘That’s unfair-desu’ from Mio while she bites her lips. I decide to act as if I didn’t see it and look at the stage. Now that they have come this far, Jin and the others just have to do what they can. There’s a lot of things to think about, however, I have no choice but to watch over it.

A voice announcing the beginning of the tournament resonates.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

“Now then, the next match is between two of the highest levels participating in this tournament! Both of them are level 97! First, Jin Roan! While being a high grade department’s second year, in terms of practical skill, he is a prodigy that has already entered the highest ranking of all! Especially in his sword techniques, there are many that are paying attention to it! On the other hand, we have Misura Kasper! The vanguard that is the highest rated by magicians! His defensive power that can be called impregnable fortress, and the skillfulness in his ability to utilize even healing magic. He is a swordsman that possesses both of this!”

The high-tensioned voice clearly resounded.
But the expression of the two that walked up the stage were as if they chewed a bitter bug. What a bad face they are making. Even I can tell the reason why. The weapon in their hands, and also this pairing. I don’t know the specific quality of the wood, but Jin and Misura have a wooden sword in their hands.
A wooden sword that has a general size for one hand.
The other students had metal-types. I could tell that each of them brought the weapons they liked the most. Some of them even got victories because of the specs of their weapons.
I didn’t give any instructions about fighting with wooden swords, and of course, this is most likely not their will. When you receive a different weapon from the one you originally had, it is understandable why they would have that kind of face.

“First of all, a word to everyone. This season’s tournament has several participants that have achieved levels over 90, so for the sake of making a balanced evaluation with the other students, a number of restrictions have been established”

Then just make a grade system for levels from the very beginning like the ones in judo and boxing to divide the ranks before doing the tournament.
If they talk about level difference and all that gibberish, they should have considered adding restrictions to the weapons and tools utilized.
Ah~, my head is rotting.

“The equipment they possess is only that one. It is in consideration of the other participants. Well then, before beginning, we will confirm the rules! The time limit of the battle is 10 minutes. The damage will be transferred to dolls and will substitute for the injuries the person itself takes. The destruction of this doll denotes incapacitation in battle, and at that moment, the battle will end. Also, in the battles of the warrior category, the use of attack and healing magic are prohibited, and the only ones that can be used are self-support related magic. In the case that someone steps out of boundaries, it will decrease points, and if the battle is not decided in the time limit, it will affect the verdict greatly”

‘Doll’, if it is prepared beforehand, this convenient item will shoulder the damage you should be receiving. It looks like a matryoshka of around 1 meter height. In this kind of tournaments it is sometimes used and it is extremely high priced.
I thought this was a tool that might increase in effectiveness when used in real combat, but for the doll to be useful, there’s the need of adjusting the place, and in terms of the effective time, it has a lot of restrictions, so it is in essence impossible to use in real combat.

In this case, they prepare the high priced doll and make a connection with it and the arena that will be serving as the stage, and while at it, they do the procedures between the students and the doll. And by doing that, it seems it is possible to shoulder the damage for around 15-30 minutes.
In the case that there’s surplus of damage, an overkill, the remaining damage will return to the person itself, so just in case, there’s 3 dolls prepared for each person in each match. The vivid depiction of a bourgeois academy. In other words, if only one of those are destroyed, it means you lose.
At any rate, this rules are like bullying Misura. Don’t use healing magic; finish the fight fast. Both of those are heavy constraints for Misura. In comparison, Jin practically doesn’t have anything binding him. Also, Jin is not the type to be merciful, so it will be a fight with him on the offensive till the fight ends. The verdict will also turn to, obviously, Jin.

“Well then, Jin Roan versus Misura Kasuba, battle start!!”

The spectator seats were slightly quiet, but when they received that signal, it changed into a high volume roar.
With the improved eyesight I wouldn’t be able to fathom in my previous lifestyle, I can tell that the two of them are doing some kind of talk.
Jin immediately closed the distance and swings downwards at Misura. The unreliable wooden sword that is several times thinner than what he normally uses, was stopped by Misura. As expected of Misura who has the highest defensive ability, he didn’t break his stance even with the sudden attack. A combo of attacks that are fit to be called a rush were coming one after the other with low amounts of intervals towards Misura. Just as expected, against Jin’s swift attacks, Misura can’t throw an effective attack and is being forced to just defending.
The conversation probably went: ‘This is also a part of luck, don’t think badly of me’, and ‘Even so, I won’t slack’.

“Well, what to say, this is quite the simple and one-sided match huh” (Tomoe)

Tomoe looks at the development of the fight with bored eyes. There’s no doubt that this isn’t a show one can consider interesting. But, in terms of technique, the people that specialize in swordsmanship and close combat should have something to look at. The way of chaining attacks, way of blocking; those kind of things should make minute differences.

“… In terms of body, I will take back what I said, but as I thought, if I was told this is something a lot of people gather to watch, I still wouldn’t be able to understand-desu wa” (Mio)

Sadly, it looks like it showed as a boring exhibition for Mio. Misura’s fighting style is centered in defense. A plain style to the taste of professionals. That she took back what she said, must be because she got a bit of a better opinion regarding their technique.
Compared to the time they began taking my lectures, it was clear that the two fighting right now have a more polished thought process, and in my eyes, it is actually a pretty worthy watch.
Shifting their bodies, opening the distance; Jin and Misura are truly fighting while thinking thoroughly. They are probably better than me at instant decision making already. They have incredibly good wit after all.
In the eyes of the spectators as well, they can tell that the speed of this fight is several times faster than previous ones, furthermore, the movement of their body is smooth and varied, so at the beginning, there were quite a lot of cheers. But the attack turn of Jin isn’t ending, so it slowly turned into booing directed at Misura. This is pitiful.
Misura is a boy that has the ability to even handle Jin using dual swords. Moreover, even in lectures or in his free time, he is doing mock battles. In terms of swordsmanship sense, he is without doubt higher than Jin. The experience is clearly defining his abilities and he is able to defend.
For example, when there’s a combo of more than three attacks, Misura chooses one of the attacks accurately to repel it. In that framework, in that flow, his eyes that are able to see through the core of the attacks can be considered one of his strongest weapons. He also learned how to parry strong attacks in the fights with Zwei-san. A discreet stock in his growth.
Misura is properly killing the momentum of Jin with the way he moves his body and the way he takes his distance. Even with that much flow and momentum killed, the attacks still continue probably because it is Jin. That guy<Jin> also has the wit and instincts of a beast, and he mixes both to push his sharp sense of the sword. Well, if I had to evaluate with only this match, I would praise Misura.

Both of them can’t do a winning move, so they have no choice but to clash a lot.
The booing towards Misura gets higher. The match is already not about victory or defeat, and has changed into something similar to military exercises where both fighters confirm each other’s movement, power and techniques. There are several people that have already noticed this.
The moment Tomoe noticed that change, she narrowed her eyes and let out a ‘Hoh~’ as if in admiration. Looks like she sensed it. Even though it is an incredible fight, there’s something out of place. The impressions of the many people around are just as it looks. Those harmonious movements that give a strange out of place sensation are probably noticed only by people that have seen military exercises before and people like Tomoe, who have a decent amount of technique. By the way, I am of the former type. I have seen several serious military exercises with swords. Jin and Misura are giving the same kind of atmosphere.
I feel like Mio is also able to tell. She is watching the match with a bored look. The fast food in her hand and the match; her interest is probably divided 80% on the food and 20% on the match. Even so, the reason why I feel like she might respond with the right answer if I asked, is because Mio’s intuition has a scary rate of striking home.

“Hm, the match is over huh. Like this, the winner will be Misura” (Makoto)

“Right. In the end, there were practically no effective attacks. Jin, who has been in the offensive, will win by verdict, but in terms of the fight, Misura is the winner” (Tomoe)

“Winning the match but losing the fight huh. And yet, the venue is treating Misura as a coward. Ahaha, that Jin, he is making a pretty easy to understand face. Misura is also showing his sense of achievement through his face” (Makoto)

“Well, compared to the idiotic matches until now, I have enjoyed myself a lot more. As expected of Waka’s students. After all, the ones until now have been mostly: prepare their stance, attack, block or evade, fix their stance, counter-attack. Their actions and the execution of their next movement was so obvious that the stupidness was shooting out full-throttle. Honestly speaking, with that level of skill, just by having a good weapon, the match is decided. In a sense, I was watching with opposition” (Tomoe)

“Exactly. Jin and the others said that recently it has become hard to hide their strength in the other classes. I understand the reason why now. If they were to make those kind of movements in those classes, they would definitely… stand out. It seems they were taking me into consideration. It makes me happy to have good students” (Makoto)

“That’s a good thing. Fumufumu, for the time being, I will think of a reward for Misura. A bout, a bout, a bout… Well then, who should it be~?” (Tomoe)

… You are rewarding him with a slap.
Just as expected, Jin won by verdict. Contrary to the results, Misura walks out from the arena with a satisfied expression. It was a match that had impact. Even if he will be involved with Tomoe, no doubt it will turn into good experience for him, so when the school festival is over, let’s make some time for that.
The next match that my students will appear in is the magician category, first match and in the next match of the warrior category.
It doesn’t feel like it will be taking that much time, so maybe I should just stay watching like this.

      1. It’s from another light novel/webnovel. She is a sub-character for the shield hero series.

Long short: A hero only able to use a shield is summoned, faces discrimination by other summoned heroes and local powers, and forms a group (including Firo) to protect and save the world;.

      2. I know who she is!! I’m asking where she is!! In the way Makoto said he could see mondo talking in the tm boot camp chapter!! 😂😂

I don’t think I’ve seen her in like three weeks!!

      3. Lol, yeah, no one here can read. She liked my reservation though, so she’s around. Might of missed the *ahem* photo actually.

    1. Hmm, snuck in at 3rd. I sense some nobles that are in for a bad time. I wonder if Makoto will give Rona a heads up that one of her bases is about to disappear or if he will just erase it to lessen his stress levels.

      1. He’s referring to when Shiki talked about “that woman” meaning Rona, but not actually saying her name!!

      2. Yep, I think she also mentions that she lost contact with her agent among the Forest Oni in the chapter from her PoV after Makoto exposes her. Her agent would be the Forest Oni that Lich killed off.

  1. Well, time for my comment. Also, thank you Reigo-senpai for another great translation.

Things are gonna heat up in the next few chapters. Of course that death I once mentioned isn’t going to happen for a while, but will happen before the festival is over. And again, Spoiler-san is not saying who dies. It’s still more fun to see you all suffer while guessing who.

      1. common sense is not supposed to be an ability that disappear when you get run over by nepus or a truck?
or by cuckoos in my case >:c ignore this>(putos cuckoos yo solo queria tener pollo asado>:c >:c)

    1. Even by saying there is a death at all you have ruined any sense of surprise the action is going to have now. It’s official, I will no longer read the comment section. I will likely get more enjoyment without such community.

      1. Actually, I get more people psyched because I mentioned it. However, I refuse to say who dies. It could be anyone. Is it Mio? Is it Shiki? Is it Jin? Is it a Rembrandt sister? It’s not any that I just mentioned, those were just examples on who could die. And if anyone is going to guess after this, I’m not saying yes or no on if the guess is correct or not.

      2. You my friend, at times, can be far worse then the biggest cliffhangers of all time!! God I hate you sometimes!!😑😑 but I might get over it, just not right now!! 😑😑

      1. No you don’t!! It sends you down a winding staircase into the depths of incomprehensible hell!!! And after just one chapter your questioning your whole life up to this one wrong decision!! At which point it takes weeks to get to were you can even comprehend the human language at all!!!

  2. Well that was exciting. Finally we get to the tournament!
A shame some mob character ruined the class’s chance to seriously wreck others, but oh well. The biggest insult you can give a noble is to ignore him~

I hope the students get praised by the VIP who noticed their skill here. Poor Misura. He’s caught the attention of the worst VIP, the superior dragon.

    1. I don’t think I would have been happy reading about them trolling kids that never had a chance of winning. This way its enjoyable to read about at least.

      1. Please!! You really think Makoto will send tomoe or mio!! This kind of wrong doing can only be dealt with by his own hands!!! As scary as those two are, when you get on Makoto’s bad side fear hits a whole new level!!!

      2. The last time he sent them a town disappear if I remember well. We don’t even known what happen to most of the population.

  3. Inside Alternate Makoto’s head:

1.) Drag the Hopelace name to the mud, then drag every single member to the chopping block. Their degree of participation in the obstruction will determine the amount chopped off.

2.) Turn Root into roast dragon, burn every single temple of that priests’ goddess to the ground and send spies toward Gritonia and Limia for information/blackmail material.

3.) Loriel will be put on hold. Placed in the “Troublesome” bin for now.

Yeah, expected everything but the tournament fixing to be done by that noble asshat. Does this mean that the Academy is just a part of the Kingdom that asshat is from?

If I was Makoto looking at the tournament, I would get increasingly frustrated and angry. Not a good combination with Goddess-type magic power.

      1. Maybe. But we know full well that he has a limit to the amount of bullshit he can stomach. I get the feeling that he’s quickly approaching his, and once he hits his limit, heh.😈

    1. The academy isn’t a part of Hopelace’s home kingdom; but because the academy takes in nobles from neighboring nations, they have to listen to authority from those nations or feel economic or admissions pressure. Though, I’m a little confused how Makoto doesn’t run the academy yet. He did remove a chunk of the dark side from it already.

      1. Oh yeah, you’re right. But that just begs the question:

Did that idiot noble not know that one of Raidou’s students was another Hopelace? Or is she from a lower family and thus doesn’t care what happens to her? Or she might be from another part of the main family and is looked at as a rival for the position or something, and saw this as an opportunity to get rid of her?

      2. I thought that she was a scholarship student. If she is a Hopelace, she’s probably a “fallen noble”. Someone up her family was born into the family, but they could only be a lesser noble, like a chevalier or something, and their kids weren’t able to keep the title. Who knew I would use what I learned about nobles from Death March.

    2. i was rereading some stuff and Hopelace is also the last name of Amelia, one of his students, I can’t remember seeing this mentioned in conjunction with this new harassment

  4. Thanks for the release…….i’m very excited to see what will happen to the rest of the other students during this tournament ^_^

  5. ………..γ ̄ヽ………Thanks!…………
    …….r’-‘| O |…~……..Nepu!!……..
    ….….’ーゝ_ノ……~…..…∧__∧..…….
    …………| ,|……~…….(´・ω・`)……..
    ……..,,-/ ̄|、…………O旦と )……..
    …….ヽ__シ……….(__(__つ……..

  6. TBH there alot of people that could have changed the line up not just that noble. Princess lily, Root even Rembrandt(trying to protect his daughters) just because one guy hates your guts don’t mean he’s the only one that can do something wrong.

    1. True, but let’s be a bit realistic here.

Lily already got the threat from Tomoe, and since Lily could have known that those are Raidou’s students, messing with them is the same as messing with Raidou, hence ignoring Tomoe’s threat. So she’s out.

Root, on the other hand, is VERY interested in Makoto, and would unlikely do anything to incur his wrath. So he’s out as well.

Rembrandt on the other other hand, is out as well, since he clearly wants to have a peaceful relationship with Makoto, and he did leave for the Merchant guild to sort out the problem that happened in regards to Makoto.

The priest, might be out as well, since he was already told by his superiors on how vastly out of their league the Kuzunoha company was just by seeing Makoto and Shiki’s magic power(or lack thereof due to not sensing it).

The Kingdom however has no such qualms, since they haven’t got the full picture yet, only knowing that Tomoe and Mio are lv.1500+ and work for Raidou. Then they have this idiot noble using his power to interfere in the tournament, so they thought to just wait and see what would happen.

        1. In chapter 66, Rembrandt and his butler were talking about the kingdom who inquired about their registration in the guild and the level of those two. So, I figured they might have found out about their levels after doing a thorough background check.

Can you direct me to that particular chapter so I can confirm if Root did hide their information? I might have missed that part.

          1. I can’t remember the chapter number, and I’m way too lazy to search it, sorry :p

Well, Root had say that he made sure that the Guild wouldn’t leak the information.
THis doesn’t mean that somebody knowing their levels wouldn’t leak any information.
So you are right, it’s still possible for anyone to find witnesses.

      1. It’s in the chapter before “and so the adventurers guild was born” chapter!! The only reason the school and the nobles family are doing this is because they have no clue how powerful kozunoha truly is!! How do I know you ask? Simple! They value their lives!!!

  7. I don’t see why Makoto getting all mad feels like his students would have had to face each other at some point anyways. All that happens is that everyone knows who the winner of the 1 vs 1 sooner.

    1. The issue is its a large tournament and they should have had at least a couple of rounds to show off their abilities before fighting each other. They also had their preferred weapons taken away and were handed simple wooden ones then, had several of their techniques banned from use. The, supposed, purpose of the tournament is to showcase the skills and abilites of the students studying at the Academy. Instead Makotos students are given inferior equipment, banned from using several of their techniques and forced to fight each other in the first round.

The matching was not just fixed, every element that could be fixed was fixed. Whats going to be amusing is that Jin is likely to wipe the floor with the lot of them anyways.

      1. Kinda annoying that the tournament could be fixed in a way that defeats the purpose of the tournament. “As expected of hyumans!” …should I say that?

      2. And when Jin effortlessly wipes the floor with all the others (the ones who aren’t Makoto’s students), that will all the more highlight the ability of Misura, since he’ll be the only participant on whom Jin couldn’t land even a single hit.

    2. The dude also tried to poison them in just about every way possible. And might’ve succeeded if not for Shiki watching out for them. He even sent actual assassins during the night. Why has he not snapped is a better question.

    3. Remember the frontier town? Simply because a girl he’d never met looked like his kouhai, and he overheard those guys threaten that girl’s sister, he was ready to go wild. Honestly, if Tomoe and Mio hadn’t done it, Makoto probably would have destroyed that town himself.

  8. Thanks for the chapter ~!

Manipulation? Can I manipulate the nobleave to an early maiming? A foot will do.

  9. Haha. So typical of tomoe. Rewarding hard work, with harder work. Misura will learn what Yuno and Sif said is true with his own body. Let’s hope he can learn something even when getting his ass whooped.

But that noble though, or rather the hyumans. So corrupt with how they do things. Good thing Makoto keeps his distance really well. I won’t even blame Makoto if he wants to wipe 1 or 2 countries. They’re lucky Makoto is a kind boy so that’s nearly impossible to happen.

    Thanks Reigokai.

    1. It’s not like the general populace is that much at fault for the people in charge to begin with, as it’s the system itself that’s corrupt and rotten and a certain bug-goddess makes things even worse by selectively breeding for beauty (which gives even more advantages to those that are rich to begin with … as they have every resource at hand to improve their second most important asset besides their money … the looks of themselves and their future heirs),

  10. ……A thought occurs. So the fighting style/tempo of all the other students are as stupid as a turn based RPG fight used in reality? That’s….what do I even say to that? It makes no sense.

And on that point….does this mean that Raidou-sensei’s class, in all irony, specialize in teaching common sense?

    1. common sense a product of culture meaning its shaped by the world views of the society from which it originates, so whats common sense to one culture is ridiculous to another. i would say what they are learning is a more logical approach to fighting, or maybe more rational, theres a word im looking for and can’t quite find it

  11. I am so pissed about the meddling.

Some people would be turned into Popsicles right about now if I was in his shoes. He is super strong, so just wipe the *ssh*le Lovelaces or whatever out.

And then kick the *ss of whoever rigged the matches. Thoroughly.

  12. Thank you for your hardwork
forgot to thank ya from 115 -122 chapters so many thanks
and also I was with Firo-chan rereading all over the chapter again
hahah not that I commented on every chapter

  13. Got to say after reading all the way to here I wonder if Matoko will ever stop being a pacifist…. but yeah im hooked so thank you translators!!!!

    1. Not yet. It is still not enough to penetrate Makoto’s armor. Not unless a life is taken.

But seriously, it will be bad if he snaps now. At least let the tournament finish first.

  14. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Misura, get ready for your reward…
    HELL training with Tomoe.
    Congratulations!!!
Or should I say My Condolence?

    1. He will probably see Makoto’s training in a more favourable light after that :p
heck, he will be happy to be put under the hardest level of Makoto’s training.

    2. Not with tomoe. But with one of asora citizens (other than blue lizard kind). As tomoe said “That’s a good thing. Fumufumu, for the time being, I will think of a reward for Misura. A bout, a bout, a bout… Well then, who should it be~?” (Tomoe)

  15. I think I had a comment after finishing the chapter, but I had forgotten by the time I reached the end of the comments. Oh well. 😏

    Thanks for the chapter! 😃

  16. Hope Makoto will do something about those Hopelace anytime soon. Like obliterating them from existence, or something similar. He should leave behind that silly japanese mentality already. You’re not in Japan anymore, you silly dumbass.

  17. Thank u always for ur great work…
    ^^…

They have raise the war flag then Makoto will too…
    :3…

When I think the students battle will be depicted, it’s only the outline that explained…
    ~.~…

  18. Ooh~ it finally started. I honestly thought it would take two more chapters before it begins. The previous two was truly satisfying after all.

    Anyway.

The first part of this chapter gave me a premonition of some sort. Like. The Makoto from before Tsige would soon comeback. When they dealt with the thugs who tried to steal their cart and use a kid, who was trying to save her nee-chan. Although, it’s just a feeling.

About the match. It didn’t depict the match between Jin and Misura like i thought it would, but I guess it’s better that way. Because, clearly Makoto, Tomoe and Mio were satisfied with the result as well as the two fighters, well maybe not for Jin, they know how well they performed. He won the war, but lost the battle, indeed.

Overall, it’s good. I prefer his students facing each other because fodders will obviously be only fodders.

I’m eager to know what happened to Rembrandt’s mission though… i’ll hold my impression about Root in this chapter since it just began.

Also, this just goes to show, Makoto needs to be more wary of people outside his circle. Some nobles are corrupt, just like politicians and people with money.

    Cheers for the chapter~

    1. forgot;

I shed tears when Tomoe said Mio learned to be mindful of others.

      Oh.My.Gosh.

it’s like seeing your baby’s first steps! and your baby’s first words.

    2. I only have one question about what you said. Some nobles are corrupt? I’d think that assuming that any noble or politician you meet is corrupt would be a good life policy.

  19. Ohh, finally! Thank you for the chapter!!!

Man, can’t wait for that noble to get what’s coming for him… maybe a single hit that destroys 2/3 dolls? XDDDD

    1. I doubt its the prince, just a high ranking noble. The way the king and his sons are depicted they have more prudence then to get in a fight with students at a school.

    1. I thought the same. But instead of just losing, I figured some fools would make it so his “students” take the full brunt of the damage instead of the dolls. Specifically, the Rembrandt sisters.

      1. That’s even more possible that if it did happen which has 78% chance of happening. I wish Makoto would burn the idiot to the ground or rather to dust!

  20. nice chap and thanks! wished theres more chap fast it drols me..

hmm.. i see makoto i somewhat gonna point a gun to the hyumans and gain favorable side to the demons, since he said that “do you want the four seasons in asora?” to tomoe

tomoe seeing makoto feeling its pissed now huh?
wonder what the bug would do if she knew makoto would side the demons in the wars, maybe she’ll rip her hair off lol

    1. Seems you misunderstood some. The place that Tomoe wants for the 4 seasons in Asora is currently controled by the demons. They have a base near the location so Makoto was having Tomoe hold off on doing anything until he decided how he was going to handle it. He has reached his breaking point though and is likely to go and erase the demon base after the tournament.

      1. Why would he attack the demon side (which has done nothing against him directly), when the hyumans are being the hindrance? By asking Tomoe about the 4 seasons, it implies getting on the demons good side, maybe by doing something against the hyumans which benefits them.

Root also mentioned about a turning point… something that will change Makoto’s mentality from “japanese high school boy” to “allmighty being of this world”… one of the students dying would be the perfect reason for that! Personally, I think it’ll be either Jin or (most likely) Amelia…

      2. @บุญไพศาล
You just pointed out the thing that i’ve been bothered about. It was on the tip of my tongue but couldn’t quite get a grip on it.

that might actually be the case.

  21. Thanks for the chapter!

also makoto saying “do you want the four seasons in asora” shit so there gonna take it over also i remembered that thats also one of the demon camp meaning theyll also have issues with the demon race not to only hyumans

hahah makoto gonna show whos boss

  22. I’m loving the amount of exposition all the side characters are getting. It’s hard to tell where the story as a whole is going, but the author certainly managed to get me invested in the world he’s building.

  23. To ohmariowv

please dont make comments related to spoils in anyway, like the one you did about a death,
it sucks that after waiting for the chapter, reading it with joy, and going to the comments to have fun reading what people felt from the chapter, i find my self with a spoil and it ruins my day just cus you think is fun…..
i mean, come on, people are really nice here, dont do that kind of thing anymore, lets just have fun with this great story.

  24. when you think about it, that noble dude is playing with fire, a lot of fire, but since Makoto have so much eyes set on him and he dont appear to be the kind of mc who would go for revenge without blood being dropped the noble is propbally safe, the thing is, i doubt Mio; Tomoe or even Shiki(he in special since hes close to the students) would let go if one of the kids get hurt, Makoto would make something special too if the Rembrant got hurt because Rembrant is someone he consider a lot too.

  25. read a bunch of comment….

Oh so that” death” is near huh? never knew whens that happening when i read a bunch of latest comment in the past months.

well expecting a nice epic fight in that “death” chapter

  26. So, is TL-ing a reliable source of income? just wondering if its feasible to do it for some of my favorite dropped series….. after getting a lot of practice.

    1. as a source of income I think no…. but as a pocket money yes….well in the off chance that you get as a tourist guide or translator to a politician or businessmen, then yes yes it is

  27. Thanks for the chapters!!!
Also, I was wondering if mighty translator-Sama was located in Hong Kong?? If so I find it kind of odd how around 9pm on the 19th for me is about 11a on the 20th for you!! It’s kind of like “would I be going to the future if I flew to Hong Kong, and would I be going into the past flying back?? 🤔🤔🤔

Also, just a note!! When the characters are “wearing” something the word to use is ‘on’, and when their holding something it’s ‘in’ ok??

Not trying to be an ass, but that’s been bugging me throughout all the chapters!! I have a lot of respect for your translating and understand how hard it is to go from Japanese way of speaking to English and back, so I try not to critique your work much!!!

    1. Don’t worry, all advice is welcomed (as long as it is properly delivered).
And nope, I am not from Hong Kong. I think the hour you are taking is the one set in wordpress, which is not my timezone.
Continue to point out anything that troubles you. I have made several shameful mistakes before after all xD

  28. “I am surprised he could go this far…”

Is author serious??!!!! MC won’t doing anything and let other people abuse him with poison and assassin when he could just “threat” them “secretly” to finish quickly this matter?
    What a pussy MC!

    1. I saw this after 321 came out. this is chapter 123. I thought there were two new chapters for a moment there.

  29. I honestly thought that Jin would be the winner by a relatively high leway because in the students he seems the principal, added that he is a a cover of the ln that thought was strengthened, good that I was wrong, really.
