Chapter 128: Tournament, first day of the team battles

Double chapter today!

The previous chapter left a bitter aftertaste, so I decided it was better to rinse it as soon as possible. So here it is!

Even the author admitted it was a bad move to release that kind of chapter after the hype chapter. He reflected on his actions -That’s good to know-.

— Participants’ waiting room

“Do you think… there will be rule changes?”

“There will. No doubt. If Hopelace doesn’t do anything after yesterday’s match, then that means he gave up, but that’s definitely not gonna happen”

Daena answers Amelia as if saying to give up.

From the tenacity in the individual battles, he understood the adhesion of the interfering nobles.

It didn’t show in Daena’s tone, but the individual battles of him ended in disappointing results and he feels bad for his wife that came to spectate his matches.

She praised the contents of the match, but as a man, he wanted to move on a bit further.

Thinking about the Goddess’ blessing included, in this world, the battle power of women’s increases more than men.
But in this decades, the battle power from blessings couldn’t be relied on, and in that meaning, the male side is stronger.

And then, in this tournament, having the Goddess’ blessing is prohibited.

The Academy thought about the dangers of fighting in that kind of state. This has been a rule since the time the Goddess was still active.

“The team battles have less restrictions than the individual battles after all~. No matter which one of us that senpai fought with, the result would be obvious” (Yuno)

“Yuno, you can’t go lowering your guard too much. Sensei will probably see through that” (Sif)

“Uh… I will be careful” (Yuno)

“Well, I do understand how Yuno feels. Champion-sama is in our team, and even the winner of the warrior category, Jin. The semifinals and finals are tomorrow, so today might actually be a boring one and no problem will happen” (Izumo)

Izumo cuts into the conversation of the Rembrandt sisters.

They haven’t touched the topic of Izumo’s grading, but it doesn’t seem he is minding it much.

He looks relaxed.

“Sorry for the wait”

Jin and Misura return to the room that 5 people were having a friendly chat in.

“Welcome back. Did they tamper the rules?” (Amelia)

“Yeah, just like expected. But, something even bigger happened” (Jin)

“What?” (Amelia)

Seeing Jin’s discouraged face, Amelia asks anxious.

“It seems… Sensei can’t come today” (Jin)

All the five faces changed.

Their emotions were varied, but the color of disappointment and despondency were the common points.

“What about Shiki-san?!” (Amelia)

The first one to react was Amelia.

She was completely putting Raidou as secondary.

“Shiki-san and those two aides, Tomoe-san and Mio-san, will be coming to spectate. Sensei himself won’t be able to come, but it seems there’s a message from him” (Jin)

“Why can’t he come?” (Sif)

The next one was Sif. Yuno and Izumo, all the other members also nod. Must be a question they all hold.

“It seems the Merchant Guild has called for him” (Jin)

“Oto-sama couldn’t do it…” (Sif)

“Looks like it. He was even called in this kind of day, so it is quite the problem. Even though I asked so many times to not cause problems for Raidou-sama…” (Yuno)

The eyes of the Rembrandt sisters had an ungentle light residing in them.

It disappeared in a few minutes, and Jin internally felt fear of them.

“Well, can’t be helped. And, what kind of changes did the rules have? Looking at Misura’s state, it seems to be quite severe” (Amelia)

As if saying: ‘if Shiki is coming then that’s fine’, Amelia asks about the rules.

Noticing that Misura’s state was not like usual, she has prepared herself for the pestering to a certain extent.

“Ah, no… This one’s like this because of another thing. About the team battle rules, there was only one point that was added. Honestly, it pissed me. That he thinks he will be able to defeat us with only that” (Jin)

Jin fearlessly laughs.

That smile was not towards the rules that were changed, but to the plotter that thinks he will be able to defeat them with something so shallow.

“Hmph~, don’t beat around the bush and just tell us”

“Level restrictions to the whole party. The total should be within 365. If your number is over that, you have to adjust the party in order to enter that margin” (Jin)

“… So he is telling us to go with 3 people huh. Those numbers are like sniping us” (Amelia)

It was just as the bitter smiling Amelia said.

They registered as a party of 7 and it has been accepted, and yet, it has changed to only being able to participate with 3 in the scheduled day.

It couldn’t be helped.

“And in truth, it is really a snipe. Because when adding the levels of Hopelace’s party, it almost reaches that number. The only team that surpasses that number are us” (Jin)

“I am amazed. But just like Jin said, in terms of conditions, there’s no problems for us. With only this much, nothing will change. We are stronger when teamed up after all. Why is Misura making such a cornered face then?” (Amelia)

“That is…” (Jin)

“… They told me… they would train me” (Misura)

Misura mutters with a pale face. This was a strange way of talking for him.

“By whom?” (Yuno)

Yuno urges him to be clearer. Because it didn’t sound like something to be so cornered about.

“… By the sensei’s close aide, the blue haired one. The one called Tomoe-san” (Misura)

“No way!!”

The voice of the Rembrandt sisters sync perfectly.

“That’s true. It seems she was impressed by his match with me, and after the school festival is over, she will have a bout with him while training him” (Jin)

“—Incredible!!”

“That Tomoe-san is. There’s been almost no adventurers that have caught the eye of Tomoe to the point that she would want to train that person. Misura-san, that’s amazing”

The surprise of the sisters was understandable.

Tomoe looks after the adventurers in Tsige sometimes, just like Mio, she practically has never taken a pupil or has taught anyone personally.

At most, there’s Lime who suddenly announced his retirement in the Adventurer Guild and seems to be personally adoring Tomoe, and also Mio, who has looked after one female adventurer with black hair.

“Well, it is supposed to be, but he was intimidated and is now completely scared” (Jin)

“If you were told that kind of thing, anyone would” (Misura)

“What did she tell you?” (Izumo)

Izumo probably found the scared Misura funny, he asks him with a smile on his face.

“… She placed a hand on my shoulder… and told me to please don’t die, with a straight face. I will hold-back, cause I don’t want to get scolded by Waka, she said” (Misura)

“Uwaa, she is practically not caring about you”

“See, see?! If a person with a crazy number like 1,500 says that to you, it is obvious that the color of your face would drain too, right?!” (Misura)

“Even if you die, Shiki-san will definitely bring you back. Well then, since Misura is not at his top condition, he will be in standby at the first match. Ah, Jin. Can we change members in this tournament?” (Amelia)

“Wa?! I can do it, I will do it! Yesterday I was totally unable to show off, so please don’t go excluding me!!” (Misura)

“… You are merciless Amelia. Changing is okay. Just that, if the team loses, even if you didn’t participate, everyone will be done for” (Jin)

“Instead of the match, it feels like choosing members will be more troublesome~. Well then, let’s decide quickly” (Yuno)

Placing their tension in a place completely different from the team battles, Jin and the others’ incandescent participation battle began.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

The princess of Gritonia, Lily, clicked her tongue internally.

She was looking at the team battles that were unfolding in front of her.

A match that is being held 3 versus 7.

Thinking about it normally, the 7 should be overpowering them.
But the reality was the contrary. The 3 were playing around with the 7.

The hyuman’s way of thinking is that a power fight from the front is the basic.
But the fighting style of those three was different from the public recognized way of fighting.

Frankly speaking, it is a fighting style that resembled the demon race.
Using coordination, technique and strategy to overturn disadvantages.

Truly what the demon race has been doing when fighting against hyumans.

Lily who has been fighting with them for a long time could recognize that that is the fighting style of the demons, or not.

That style is the style the weak ones use to fight against the strong ones.

Scheme, and fill up the difference with their own strength.

Hyumans don’t know of it, or maybe they forgot this way of fighting a long time ago. But it’s true that this method is really useful. It is also knowledge that the empire’s army is trying to implement.

And they were able to splendidly utilize it, moreover, students that just with their own strength are able to overwhelm the opponent.

When she watched the individual battles, she could tell that they weren’t normal. But, she didn’t think that they were able to display such an ability in teamwork.

To the point that it made her think this will become even more one-sided than in the individual battles.

The ones fighting right now are, based on Lily’s memory: the warrior category winner, Jin; the one who showed splendid spear-handling, Yuno Rembrandt; and the one who participated as a magician yesterday, Amelia Hopelace.

Today she is not holding a staff, but a bow.

If the hyumans possessed the same teamwork and strategy as demons, this would be the living representation of it.

For Lily, there is nothing that would make her happier than this. If they have strength in their side and they’re able to have the same level of strategy as the demon race, they should be able to easily overpower them.

Normally, she would have tried to secure these splendid people without being reserved on the conditions.
But she can’t.

They are kids that have been influenced by the tone of Raidou after all.

For Lily, there’s nothing more irritating than that.

Even when they possess the specialized dragon summoner girl, they were simply overwhelmed. The Kuzunoha Company that Tomoe is in, is involved in this after all.

(It feels like I am seeing wooden dolls and scarecrows being beaten down for training…) (Lily)

It was already something that both sides could not call as a match.

Just like how Lily compared it with, it really did feel like they were watching a training where they continue hitting on a scarecrow.

The frontline quickly cuts in and destroys the stance of their opponent’s vanguard, force them to protect their middle, and it even puts pressure in their rear lines.
In the opening that is created, a spear is added in, and in the formation that has crumbled promptly, use magic to shave it off.

Even when they try to counterattack, the rear guard students that were attacked by arrows and magic were unable to properly chant their arias or take stance.

Those 3 were clearly used to group battles. And they are completely playing around.

No, in Lily’s eyes it was as if they were trying to show off their moves to someone, and so they were thoroughly taking their time.

She could tell that probably, if they were in the mood to do so, the warrior category winner would be able to defeat everyone alone.
But they didn’t do that, and were utilizing teamwork to attack and pressure their opponent.

Not show, but showcasing.

Even the princess was able to tell their intentions.

Because of the fighting style they chose, the fight that would only need a few minutes to finish off, was lengthened to around 5 minutes.

The result was obviously, total annihilation.

Unable to land even one effective attack, they were defeated.

The students of Raidou didn’t even sweat.

The 3 went down the stage and gathered. All 7 were talking about something, and their figures as they returned even looked refreshing.

Why is it that, even when they are students, they are able to display so much skill in group battles?

How can they maintain that level of composed thought process when they are  still students?

Lily mulled over it.

About how much of Tomoe’s warning should she abide to.

She can tell that she is genuinely interested in them.

If she were to take an attitude that has nothing to do with Kuzunoha, maybe she can make contact with them.

Even so, she wanted to know.

The teaching method of Raidou.

The true ability of those students.

If Tomoki were here, she would have been able to use his eyes to attract them.

But if Raidou were to notice that, it is over. If Tomoe were to get wind of it, there’s the danger of being done for.

When Lily looks at her surroundings, the King of Limia, the priestess faction of Lorel, the Church’s Archbishop, the elite teachers that have been invited to the academy to commentate, and the heads of the Academy as well; were looking at the match as if eating into it, and also looking at the students.

It can be said that they are no longer nameless students.

The attention they gathered yesterday has soundly fixated itself today. And, in the people here, there’s already some that have information of the Kuzunoha Company and Raidou.

Gritonia already has a trump card which is the hero.

After his meeting with Tomoe, it was as if he made a complete turnover. He endeavored in training and is increasing his strength.

He is plenty reliable, but Raidou and their students are also hard to give up on.

No matter how reliable he is, there’s only one hero.

The flexible thought process that the hero has which differs from the hyuman’s push through power thought process. In the future, there will be the need for more people with the same way of thinking.

Lily was looking at Jin and the others as quite the appealing talents.

(In that case, after expressing my gratitude, I will make contact with Raidou entirely regarding the students. I wonder if by doing so, I would still be able to maintain my promise with Tomoe. Raidou. He is calling himself a merchant, but he has this much nurturing ability. I don’t want Tomoe only, I want him as well. Giving him to another country would be too much of a waste) (Lily)

While the team battles continued, Lily’s thoughts were exploring for a method to a favorable relationship with the Kuzunoha Company.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

“The world has what’s called remarkable figures”

“Yes, father”

“When looking at Hibiki-dono, I sometimes think that way, but to think that I would be able to meet people like that in the traditional education emphasized Rotsgard, I didn’t expect it at all”

“Currently, we have gathered as much of their personal information as we could”

The first day of the team battles has ended.

The four remaining teams were introduced and the event ended for the day, but in the conversation of the second prince that accompanies the Limia King, he was only talking about one team.

Even though there’s also a team with the second son of Hopelace which comes from Limia Kingdom.

“Umu… I do admit their competency… but what we truly have to look at is not them, but at the teacher that taught them that way of fighting” (King)

“What do you mean? Yesterday, we began the investigation of the classes they take and the ones they have in common. Also… for some reason, there was already a teacher that Hopelace household has investigated, so I have also included that person as well in the documents” (Prince)

“N? The Hopelace household? I knew that he was doing something in the background with the Academy, but to think it had to do with that teacher. My intuition was lacking. That group of kids are without doubt students overflowing with wisdom, but this time, I think that the core of the surprise should be the one who has taught them this path” (King)

“You are saying… there is someone that is producing remarkable figures?” (Prince)

The prince slightly knits his brows at the foresight of the king and asks him the meaning.

The prince was also surprised by their orderly way of fighting as if he was watching their own country’s hero.

But, if there’s a teacher who is ‘teaching’ them and creating this kind of students, the first one they have to make contact with is, without doubt, that teacher.

Even if the Limia Kingdom is unable to secure those students that are still in their teens, it is fine if they are able to obtain that teacher.

“Looking at the state of Hopelace’s second son, there’s the chance that he has done something bad” (King)

“With that much ability, I thought it wouldn’t be strange to balance it. But in the team battles, the rule that was added seemed as if it was sniping at them” (Prince)

“Even if we try to restrain him now, it might be too late already, but restrict the head of the family from interfering anymore. Also… do you know the name of that teacher?” (King)

“Understood. It is a class that the 7 of them have in common, and it is also a teacher that Ilumgand-dono has taken interest in, Raidou. He is also the representative of a recently made company, Kuzunoha” (Prince)

“Raidou… Kuzunoha Company’s Raidou huh. Do you think you can schedule a meeting with him?” (King)

“I will try to. But, there’s still one question remaining” (Prince)

“What?” (King)

The prince’s expression changes into a gloom one, and after saying Raidou’s name, he turns to the king and talks as if questioning.

But the king in question didn’t mind that attitude and just urges him to continue.

“It’s about the Hopelace’s second son, Ilumgand-dono. From what I remember, before Hibiki-dono came to our country, he already held doubts in our country’s nobles, and when he met Hibiki-dono and exchanged words, he admired her ideology. He even turned his treatment of just being a spare of the next head, the eldest son Woken-dono, and vigorously polished his abilities in the academy. Why is that kind of person doing deeds that are synonym to our country’s corrupt nobles?” (Prince)

“… That’s, I don’t know either. If Woken, who is in the frontlines, were to die, Ilumgand would succeed him. I was expecting as much from him as I was from Hibiki-dono” (King)

The attitude and way of acting of Ilumgand towards Raidou and also Jin and the others was practically as if he were a completely different person, is what the king and prince wondered about.

“Was he indoctrinated by those merchants and have taught him those kind of ways? Or did he drown in his political power? Whichever it is, it will disappoint Hibiki-dono” (King)

“Should I investigate?” (Prince)

“No. That’s something the Hopelace should do. There’s no guarantee they will tell us everything anyways. Put the Kuzunoha Company as priority. Well, we will be moving after we drop Stella Fort though” (King)

“… Finally, huh” (Prince)

“The motivation of Hibiki-dono felt stronger than ever before. Her secret stay in Tsige has made her grow greatly, and she has also obtained reliable companions” (King)

“Adventurers. Their disposition was clearly different from those of the kingdom. In time, I am thinking about giving Hibiki-dono independent authority to a unit of her direct supervision” (Prince)

“That’s good” (King)

Limia’s King looks at the far future.

The hero that has descended to the kingdom, Otonashi Hibiki, has given the kingdom many changes. In times, Hibiki voices out things that question monarchy, and between the Limia nobles, there’s rumors going around about the possible discord between her and the king.
And in the big nobles, there are many who think of her ideologies as dangerous.

In truth, the king publicly shows as if he is against that change, but internally, he is accepting it.

That’s why he has cooperated in several ways to benefit Hibiki.

That she was able to head to Tsige and the adventurers she brought from Tsige were smoothly accepted, was heavily influenced by the cooperation of the king.

And the one who’s serving as the point of contact is the second prince.

The king tells his intentions to the prince and the prince transmits it to Hibiki. Their relationship is favorable.

“Gritonia’s Lily, the priestess of Lorel, the border of the world that spread beginning from Aion, the Adventurer Guild that continues protecting neutrality… We need Hibiki-dono to concentrate just on her duty of fighting against the demon race, but it is hard” (King)

“Defeating the demon race won’t make the world peaceful instantly after all. That person also seemed to understand that” (Prince)

“But there’s nothing wrong in reducing that sadness. Joshua, this may be troublesome, but I am counting on you” (King)

“Yes, your wish is my command, father” (Prince)

The second prince of Limia kingdom, Joshua, makes a gentle smile as he accepts the king’s words.

Kuzunoha Company.

They have also arrived at that name.

      1. i would like to know if that whole dagger part from awhile back is still relevant. a yes no maybe so answer is fine.

      2. I am the Great Saiyaman! Defender of truth! Protector of the innocent! Upholder of justice! Doer of good! and i come to stop to bus kun

  1. Well, that’s slightly less depressing than the last chapter. Although, didn’t I call that king a moron at one point? Guess I was wrong… 🙂

    Thanks for the chapters! 😀

    1. Yeah, I am thinking the author is deliberately trying to break Makoto at this point. Pushing him to a boiling point.
Surprised author had the balls to do something so risky.

      1. No, that’s not wrong. Really, what Makoto has going is a Boke-Tsukkomi routine with his followers. He has a relatively plain and normal sense of what someone from his world thinks, and he’s mostly there to progress and enhance the comedy of the other more interesting characters like his followers and the Rembrant family.

If you think about it, a lot of the most beloved characters in Slice of Life are just people with a normal, if sarcastic, mindset among abnormal people. For example, Kyon is probably one of my favorite characters in Haruhi Suzumiya series, even though he’d probably be a lot more boring without other people to play off.

In short. Makoto is a bit boring, but I love him anyway. 😀

      2. The author did that before with that 3 female adventurers during that time in Tsige though, and frankly I think Makoto could use a bit more…aggressive personality?

One possibility is that with movement from all the major powers, the merchant guild stops harassing Makoto (they maybe powerful merchants, but to go against 3 major countries + the church would be suicide)
Of course Makoto will not realizes what happened since the merchant guild will play it out as if they’re being nice.

Another possibility, which frankly I hope it happens, is Makoto go consult with Tomoe/Mio/Shiki, and they moved behind the scene to show those merchants that unlike what they think, power is power, and when facing something faaaaaaaaaaaaar more powerful than them, their ‘merchant way’ won’t work (after all, the only reason Kuzunoha is acting like a normal merchant is Makoto’s will, but between disobeying his wish vs letting him suffer at these insignificant trash’s hands, I think Tomoe and Mio will choose to crush them)

      3. Ahh yes. And that brings us to a fundamental truth of the world.

There is a level of absolute power that no amount of tactics, preparation, and plotting can overcome. Ironically the philosophy of basic hyumans in the war.

      4. I really hope Makoto breaks. It’ll make him more violent. Just as everyone is saying, he’s too naive in his thinking and the rude merchant pointed out all of his flaws. It is true that he has been lucky this entire time (encountering the orcs, Tomoe, Mio & Shiki). I am glad that the author acknowledges these lucky coincidences. He is one of the strongest person in this world and it’s frustrating to see him being manipulated and pushed around by trash like the merchant dude.

      5. Yes, I agree with many here, Makoto is very boring, I see a lot of insecurity in which it now takes deciciones, just that it can lead to breakage, and it seems that’s what can happen. And I agree that feels bad that ESTEN always leading to simpre this sediendo all those guys who think they have the whole world in the palm of your hand, and as you can see Makoto in a human and which WANT moment explode xD.

  2. In the last chapter Makoto truly was immature. But it’s understandable as he’s just 16-17 years old kid. Makoto should just do what he wants. Root and Tomoe will manage the Guild somehow if he asks them for help.
    Thanks for the chapter!
Maybe the meeting with the King will silence the Guild.
    Thanks again for the chapters

    1. Why do you people care about what that idiot say anyway?

He arbitrarily say whateverthefuck he think. Note, think, not investigate, not understand.

For one thing, to anger the master of TWO level1500+ adventurers is beyond foolish. Does he think he can survive an assassination from them or something? A cautious merchant doesnt invite deadly danger, since it’s just money after all. Fool!

For another: transportation? fucking transportation? He should have investigated the method of production and note the prevalence of alchemists to make those goods. He must have skimmed over what info the Church see fit to send them.

And finally, the target that attract so many interests from so many directions should have big potential politic power. If he’s so uncautious to poke his nose into where it’s uninvited, and furthermore, so impolitely, his head is going to get cut off.

Well, hyumans are pretty stupid, so one or two die off is no big deal.

      1. Actually what the Guild guy stated was reality. I don’t find him particularly bad. There’s never a clean business and that’s reality. It’s also true that Makoto is immature and very lucky being in that trade. There are ways to remain clean in business and deal with this issue but I don’t think a 16-17 years old would be able to think that up. Also he isn’t exactly a genius. Putting myself in Makoto’s shoes I’d act the same way. The same goes with the Guild guy. He isn’t wrong in what he did and said.
The best counter would be, “so you want me out? Yes? OK then. I will close all my stores at this very moment.” Then this what would be called passive aggression. When you close the store you put up a flash sale explaining the situation a bit in your words to the public. Makoto’s business is particularly famous with the masses. So a backlash from them would hurt not just the guild and the merchants but also the city and countries they represent. As Makoto is acquainted with the Princess of a major country, then a major merchant, The guild master of the adventurers Guild, to a certain extent the church and finally indirectly with the Hibiki and also the gink of the country which Hibiki represents is trying to have an audience with Makoto. This will put exponential pressure on everyone aside from Lily who is pretty much unrelated at this moment and has her own objectives. With this the Guild and the merchants would definitely be in trouble from the very apex and the very bottom of the society.

      2. He was rude but let’s be perfectly honest here… That merchant was also right. All claims against production were cleared by the church, but Makoto has never attempted to use wagons or traders as cover for his restocking, and anyone watching is going to notice that. And demons and such were bandied about, the merchant was fully aware that likely wasn’t the case, so that meant Makoto had to have some special, secret type of transportation, and when confronted by a serious businessman Makoto proved very upfront and easily led.

unfortunately the merchant guild head also proved himself to be quite a traditionalist and classist, with the standard Hyuman prejudices, so he’s also an abject asshole… But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t right about Raidou’s poor merchant skills. Makoto is a bad liar in a setting where honesty and integrity is not always valued, and it is beginning to weigh on him.

      3. He’s protected from assassination because Makoto is under suspicion of being connected to demons. Any harm that comes to him will only confirm that. Makoto’s raw power doesn’t mean anything if he can’t use it, and the guy being able to skillfully avoid it was part of what made it so impressive.

      4. That’s strawman. When you are facing with the potential of being attacked by an undefendable force, you would behave a little cautious, because for whatever reason you think it’s reasonable, it doesnt mean shit if the opposite get mad and just kill you anyway, come what may. And his behaviour is encouraging his opponent to behave just that irrational.

And if you just stop defending that idiot you would see that he’s an idiot. Transportation is a valuable thing, but without the ability to manufacture it reliably (higher rate of success), it wont help their bottomline, which is what a merchant should care about. The Church did test it out and decide to produce it anyway because they need a secondary, owned by them, source of production, not because they care about cost and profit. he doesnt even test that yet.

    2. It is normal he was doing all the best he could and the greddy people start to mess with his company and that guy call him naive and make fun of him for make a good company without suck to someone else, it will more odd keep coolhead.
      Thanks for the 2 chapters!!!!!!!!!!

      1. They acknowledge, they are also obviously jealous of his success, but they do bring to point the crookedness of the world openly. Which is in my opinion very educational for Makoto. How he deals with this situation is important. I don’t think the Guild guy is wrong on what he did or does. Well to young readers this might seem bad. That is because they have yet to understand the workings of the world. Which is ever changing and is infinite thus I don’t mean that I know a lot of it.
Back to the story, the plot is interesting and how Makoto deals with this and how he should will remain debatable for now.

    3. Makoto maybe immature, but the guild also to much greedy, they think that they had powers and rights to “enslave” everycompanies in their stomach, but it just as most merchant guilds in Middle Age (UK change them by Policies and USA Revo, France Revo, Unite of Great Germany crushed those thing by forces)

      1. Globalization does not exist in that world as yet. Free trade policies, patents, technology reservation rights and the like are unknown to the world as yet. Though that do try to spread technology they do not have the idea of patent and trademark as such. It’s gonna take some time for that. The heroes could do that by spreading knowledge but I think for that the Hero’s need to ally themselves with Makoto. For now the only person in this position is Hibiki. I hope they get along well later. For now the business tactics are the plot. Let’s see how it unfolds.

  3. YES! Even though it was minimal, I’m glad they covered the group battle after all.
Huh. So the Hoplace second son originally had a more dignified character huh? That’s…very interesting. I wonder if he actually is possessed or influenced by someone?

It would be kinda funny if all the big countries who want to win Raidou over get angry and furiously defend Makoto when they find out about the accusations against Kuzunoha. I can’t say I’m very optimistic about hyuman behavior, but it would be a nice event to read through.

    1. You can’t really be too mad at the 2nd son in their first meeting with Raidou did try to kill him. Just because every enemy Raidou faced try to kill him with fall damage don’t mean he should do it himself.

    2. Rona told before she do something in the background about that.
Even if I am here and do something, it wouldn’t go against my promise with him, right?” (Rona)
They (countries) could do something but the question is if Makoto will ask for help, he dont want to get involved in the war hyumans/demons

    1. Hmmmm, interesting! The big shots are already in the know about Kuzunoha and Raidou! Oh my gods, I really want to see Lily’s actions during this festival!

And that Hopelace matter… was unexpected.

      1. Raidou is in a bad mood cause of the guild, he plans on telling his followers… this is gonna be interesting when they feel they should just destroy a corrupt town because they don’t want to trouble him… can’t wait to see what happens next

  4. If raidou heard of what those two heroes were doing I’d bet he punished them hard for not thinking of the impact that they will make the idiot harem force maker is trying to industrialize along with getting fire arms into that age which shouldn’t considering how stupid they all are and hibiki for the stupid sense of monarchy being bad and questioning it. They aren’t ready to be modernized and if you do so it’s gonna cause another communist party to come up equalling more dissatisfaction. Btw Please tell me Raido is gonna do something epic in the next 5 chapters… also thanks for the two updates!!!

    1. I dont think hibiki is promoting communism. I think it is more toward democracy, as stated by root. Also since she came from japan, her mindset should be used to the democratic ruling.

      1. It’s not so much a case of “her mindset should be used to the democratic ruling” but instead of “her mindset should be used to more liberal points of view” … and that topic isn’t so much about critism towards monarchy but critism towards feudalism (a horrible system where in the end … commoners are nothing more than slaves at the constant mercy of their respective feudal lords).

      2. Feudalism wasn’t completely wrong. Just like any other ideology, economic, and social system, it has it’s benefits. But humans have a tendency to abuse the fuck out of everything we can. That’s why it stopped working.

  5. Thank you thank you, I was thinking I wouldn’t be able to sleep plan how I would destroy the merchant representative. With this maybe I can get so sleep

    1. yah It really did left a bitter aftertaste, if it I didn’t read this chap 128, I would be either planning how that representative die or punching someone in the face before I sleep

  6. Thanks for the chapter~!

Congrats to Jin and Co. for their performance! And we finally see Limia moving. Next stop, a comprehensive, multi-layer plan to subvert and dismantle the merchant’s guild.

  7. And nope…. Nope nope this chapter didn’t wash all the trash that the previous chapter gave us. I mean by trash how the character acted and what happened, not the chapter itself.

Anyways, thanks for translating this Reigokai. Thanks for the chapter.

  8. At least this chapter seem more favorable than last 1, IT really NERVE US getting to BEAT that JERKY VICE – President.

Merchant, war, or selfish hyuman are really DESPICABLE for Mako-Raidou’s path of going. He should have more WAY with using FORCE than people trying to get ROB him

      1. Actually this reality how mostly upper power guys act. In death march all are happy-happy, he impress noble by cooking, heck it dont work in real.

      2. Even Satou got manipulated or out negotiated by the king, the prime minister and Earl Seryu. It is fortunate they are fair.

  9. aaarrggghhhh!! im really pissed of from the guy from the previous chapter …. thanks for at least appeasing us a little reigokai—sama for the extra ch.

    1. Though I’ve found that it’s often not the optimal answer.

Like depicted in all those games with a good/asshole karma bar, diplomacy and cleverness is generally the way for the best results.

  10. thank you ~ now this left a bit Sweet Taste after previous chapter….
Now Kuzunoha Company has Remakable Figures to Support it…. i want to see the Merchant Guild face when they know that the Company they call “immature and childlish” is build their Connection in their own way…. being Immature and childlish sometime more efficience than just think in adult way….

    1. well it was a bit immature on what Makoto did but it was also kinda childish reasoning as well for the representative… And for Makoto’s idea to work he would need a overbearing presence/aura do make the Rep. kneel to him

      1. he can if he wants…. just take off his ring… and bunch of Demon Lord aura will come and that Rep. will shit his pants… but he didn’t… because Makoto know nothing good when he do that…. so he reluctantly accept that deal…

  11. So Hyuman race become stupid-dumb and complete dependable overtime because of goddess while Demon race polishing their knowledge. They should have wait more 100 years to hyuman become more dumb and then finish them in one go.

  12. I’m betting that the royalties will interfere with the accusation from the merchant guild in exchange for makoto helping them. The limia king seems to be someone who knows his stuff.

  13. Seeing the king and prince wondering,it’s possible that Rona bitch did something to the Hopelace second son.

Thanks for the double chapter 😀

  14. i was actually thinking how the people of Rotsgard would lament after Kuzonaha company’s products are gone if they left Rotsgard and now the tow countries will try to curry favor of kuzonoha company i was hoping that this will affect the merchant guild?

  15. Ooohhh!!! Double chapters!

Thank you so much Reigokai. Such a pleasant surprise. Doubling your effort to put 2 chapters at once should be hard, just don’t push yourself too hard k.

Back to the chapter, I thought Raidou will just destroy the merchant guild right then and there, severe his ties with the guild. Rembrandt backing alone is enough for him. Fucking annoying hyumans. No need the guild if they’re treating him and other new merchants like peasants who are required to kiss the ass of bigger merchants just to survive.

Kuzunoha’s merchandise is the best no matter what, customers will always come. His servants are strong to repel any hoodlums trying to crush his business, and he doesn’t require any other outsiders help for his business operations like transport and workforce.

Know what, Raidou should make his own guild, the one that truly helps merchants to thrive, and make that old merchants guild go bankrupt. Yeah, that should be good.

  16. Thanks for the dual release!

Oh God it would have hurt to end on the previous chapter note…

I think the different countries representatives will pressure the Merchant Guild into backing the Hell off, because Raidou is simply too important as a teacher for the future of the hyuman military.

  17. People always or sometime forget when other say, “Never judge an Ugly Book by Its Cover.” Is how author really think so as getting PUNCH-IN-THE-FACE by ONEPUNCH-MAN

    LOL

You find Fossil(item), [choose: toss away] – lost a chance to GAIN EXP 1000, FAME -99

  18. ………..γ ̄ヽ………Thanks!…………
    …….r’-‘| O |…~……..Nepu!!……..
    ….….’ーゝ_ノ……~…..…∧__∧..…….
    …………| ,|……~…….(´・ω・`)……..
    ……..,,-/ ̄|、…………O旦と )……..
    …….ヽ__シ……….(__(__つ……..

  19. Time to give applause to Makoto for having all the countries point their fingers at him. Oh wait, the demon side still hasnt, but their eyes are glacing at him though, well their interest is with devil so it shouldnt be too long for them though lol

      1. oh wrong way of me viewing here, i mean the way they want to get raidou.
the demon are not yet that of “wanting” to get raidou

but all other countries are now targeting him, dont know about the church though

  20. Thanks for the double post, the author went the wrong way chap 127 had Raidou told him he would sell very cheap medication to demons instead of humans it would be all that merchants fault for adding to the demons power… just disappointing with how it went, well this chapter in having the view point of 3 different parties as well as speeding up the matches improved the mood.

  21. Cheers for good work on the double release!

Makoto got rekt for playing with sharks without doing his homework. He suffers from the same delusion that most from peaceful places do, the idea that most folks are decent and try to play fair. He got a reminder that humans suck and hyumans suck even more. I’m real curious how the author will cause him to retaliate (cause he will no doubt).

The team battles were as expected, though Misura freaking out about Tomoe’s training offer was funny. Seeing team Raidou drop the hammer on Hopelace will be fun.

Prediction; Root hears about the merchant guild’s shenanigans and decides that the adventurer’s guild should stop working with them and set up their own distribution network for recovered materials, weapons, and medicines. Now wouldn’t that be interesting?

    1. It’s easy to think that, even among the news about Isis and Ukraine and serial killer, as people tend to treat experience higher than words, even if both of them is the truth

    2. Raidou is a merchant initially just for show because he is pretty much a coward xd anyways the important part or the primary job he made Kuzunoha company is for more easy movement and info gathering after all he thanks to Asora he is actually completely self sufficient so he can simply shut it down has a merchant and he will have no problems at all xd the funny thing is gonna be when the kings hear what the merchant guild did thanks to the greedy merchants and nobles they are gonna punish the crap out of them xD and if im not mistaken the only reason that the demons havent attacked Rosengard is due to his presence there

      1. honestly at this point I kind of expect him to close his store, rots hard is quite far from the frontline, so while demons may potentially harass or diminish Rotsgard, attacking it would be quite the surprise. More than likely given how pathetic the results of its academy sans Raidou’s class, they probably don’t even care about it.

  22. thanks for the chapter. btw i think of a solution. why don’t mikoto break kuzunoha company, and into 3 or 4 . each follower will lead 1 branch. if this is done, he don’t need to pay

  23. Thanks for the double chapter!

    Makoto should just say
“shut the F up, u greedy pigs! I am leaving this area!”
“Wait till you see your customers all come to Tsige to buy the medicine!”

but I get the feeling that the king will intervene or at least lily will

    1. If he leave, he should leave a note on the door stating
“due to the high profits the merchant guild is demanding, we are sorry that we have to close down here.
      Please visit us in Tsige.”

And watch the world burn hehe…

  24. I’m conflicted.

Part of me wants to see all the major countries rush to the amazing Raidou’s aid in hopes of winning him over, plus the church, plus Root and his connections, plus the customers of Rotsgard, plus the heroes, plus any students that understand his value. Depending on how they respond, the Merchant Guild is in big trouble.

The other part of me wants Makoto to learn from this experience and mature a bit-preferably after actually snapping once to clear out this bitter taste. If people who want his amazing talents come and bail him out, it really is just him being “lucky” again after all.

    1. “If people who want his amazing talents come and bail him out, it really is just him being “lucky” again after all.”

I was thinking exactly the same. It wouldn’t be good for Makoto if he “yet again” gets saved, instead of learning from his first biggest blunder. I mean, every protagonist has one they must overcome after being pummeled down and honestly, I’m having troubles seeing how he can be brought down to the ground with his abundant, over-the-top OPness that he possess. I’m glad the Author set up that kind of beat down for him, Chapter 127 was the first chapter I honestly liked in all that has been translated so far. This is comparable to Hibiki’s defeat, I faintly smell a character development happening for Makoto. Finally.

…Or I might be just smelling rotten fishes though.

    2. What we are seeing right now might be the “trigger” Root talked about. Remember when he said Makoto will greatly change if something happened to him? Up till now Makoto though that despite his limitations (speech, beauty) he could still live with hyumans, but the interference of various power might make that impossible.

  25. Hello, Spoiler-san here. First of all, thank you Reigo-senpai for two amazing translations. Also, I didn’t make it in time because I was busy doing the King’s Fall raid in Destiny. So sorry Firo 🙁

Anywho, now you guys see why Spoiler-san hasn’t been giving many spoilers. This is when times get tough. That last chapter, I remember when I tried to read it through Google Translate’s incoherent clumps of text. I was so angry about it. I wanted to punch that representative so hard in the face. And in this chapter, I wanted to do the same to that Hopelace boy. Not to mention both Limia’s king and Princess Lily. But still, this old saying will be the closest thing to a spoiler right now: “Things are always the darkest before the dawn”.

Just remember that phrase, it’s the only comfort I can give right now. And yes, there will be plenty more drama before this arc is done. Spoiler-san, out.

  26. First of all, thank you so much for the double releass!!
These past two chapters have made me kinda hate the hyumans, specifically nobles and people in power. Honestly the only person that is even slightly sane is the king! Just how badly did the goddess fuck up this world? I mean I know we got examples of this before but it just kept getting layered on and on in these chaptees!

  27. Makoto should finally switch from his stupid “shops everywhere” to the wholesale buisness …

… he gathers (most) of his resources from the Wasteland anyway. With effective trading agreements (that are enforced), he would be several times as effective as he’s right now.

So in the end, he might as well create an independent trading town (he eventually can even declear part of his own soon to be demi-human country) in the wasteland outside of any countries direct domain and do his stuff from there … he’s free to cooperate with those who seem sufficiently trustworthy when it comes to transporting his goods to the hyuman areas to sell there, anyway.

  28. Ch127 really gave mo a bad after taste, ty for double chapter I can ignore ch127 it irritated me. TY =)

  29. Makoto should just blast everything and everyone that block his way up since he have the power to do so, but to bad, he have no gut. I wonder why do I still following this? Must be to see if he will finally kill everyone that is against him.

  30. Sooooooo….
    When will he snap?
The last time we see him fighting was long time ago, and I want to see him in action again.

  31. I just realized something, Makoto doesn’t need his company one bit.

Not even taking into consideration the whole having the “most powerful adventuring team ever known” bit, he *owns a freaking self sustained world* for Pete’s sake!

He could literally just teleport all over the world and question people with Shiki’s mind control until he find what happened to his parents, the end! He’s a company owner solely because he’s a nice guy who want to integrate Asora to the world and want to run a small company for fun.

They are messing with a sleeping giant here, one that does not need them one bit, but has more power then all the hyumans kingdoms together at his finger tips, seriously, piss him off too much and he could easily make the whole “war with the demons” a simple skirmish.

Hell, teleport an angry Mio into any capital city and watch it get erased from existence in a handful of minutes, they wouldn’t even know it was her if she does it in the guise of the “Black Calamity Spider” too… There is no scenario where the hyumans can screw with Makoto and get out of it on top.

    1. Wait, refresh my memory. Can Makoto’s followers return to their original forms at will? I was under the impression that they’re stronger than before, but stuck in their new form.

      1. Hum, I assumed they could return to their previous form, but you know what they say about assuming…

You’e right, they might be stuck like that, unless Makoto can use his power as the master of the contract to force them to change back temporarily?

      2. don’t know if they can return to their original forms due to the contract at least Root can do it and yes because of the contract the became much more powerful than they where before

      3. I believe they are human due to the contract, but it’s also been mentioned that Tomoe is actually STRONGER after the contract, and even Root would increase in power should he form one, so it can assumed that Mio is actually even more terrifying as she is now.

  32. Thanks for the chapter. Hopefully Makoto snaps, I mean he is a 17 years old dude. I wonder how they will handle the Merchant Guild though.

  33. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Every form of government has strength and weaknesses. And all can be abused.
Hibiki shouldn’t have interfered until she have better understanding of the country, it’s society, and customs!

  34. Thank you.

But I am still just so p*ssed after the last chapter.

He should have just told the guy to shove his demands up his *ss. And then burnt the place to the ground.

    *punches the wall*

  35. I’m a bit underwhelmed by that rule change myself. Or rather, having equivalent levels face off seems a bit MORE fair, honestly. Last minute changes like this are always underhanded though.

  36. Thanks for the double chapter .. Wonder now that the other country know that raidou and as well as company merchant they will take back the complains from merchant guilds 😛

  37. I found it extremely funny how that corrupt guild operates … first it tries to use its own influence and political connections (that’s ultimately boils down to them using their money and the corrupt nobels that back them … or when it actually comed down to it … that military power they possess) to try to steal any secrets of Makoto’s company they can get their hands on and then to shut him down under the pretext that otherwise they would suppress him right this moment (as if they could … but I don’t think Makoto’s actually smart enough to notic this point) … while at the same time throwing ample critism at Makoto the moment he considers doing the same (using force to put them into submission). The merchant guild is made up of a huge bunch of hypocritical scammers, it seem. Though that’s to be expected, what with all the corrupt nobels they’re borrowing their influence from to keep making things for themselves profitable.

That Makoto actually falls for that scheme (as in … him actually being willing to allow this kind of low-lvel mafia scheme to be used against him by others) makes him look like some kind idiot, though. That’s the point of why he failed that talk in chapter in 127 and not because he’s not adept at doing buisness …

    1. To sum it up … his opponents act like the mafia-like criminals they are and he’s allowing them to have his way with his company … that’s where he failed that talk last chapter … not because he gave some nonsensial answers or has no idea what’s going on (well … he has no idea … but that’s because he’s too naive to comprehend that he’s more or less dealing with a bunch of criminals that are simply try to steal from him as much as possible) and that this whole situation has next to nothing to do with “mutual gain” and “win-win” for both sides. It’s simply a bunch of people exploiting their authority (that’s based on their assets and political connections) to try to put him and his company down.

  38. i’ve been reading this for 2 weeks and arrived at this latest chapter…
i can’t really say how happy i am to have read this novel… thank you so much!!!

to be honest… i got tired reading the 4 prologues…
but boy am i glad to have continued reading it…

sadly… the last chapter hit real deep on makoto-kun… and what’s worse, i too think he was naive and childish…
i hated it when reality interrupts my fun adventure reading a fantasy story…

but yes… it was accurate… it still left a bad taste though…

i honestly don’t think, makoto-kun will take refuge on any country…

he is hostile in two countries naming: lorel & gritonia
and limia might have given him a bad taste from the “hopeless” household…

i have a thought in mind of the next occurrence but will not say it…
since i might be correct, the suspense will deteriorate for everyone else…

  39. really, I’m liking Lily even more. She’s smart and considers possible outcomes before taking action. She’s just the “right person” Makoto needs in his group. If only Lily met Makoto first, then there might have been a chance that he could have rehabilitated her way of thinking. She’s just too obsessed with fucking that Goddess and being sent with an unpleasant hero. She could also help Makoto face facts and lessen his naivetee to some degree. Truly what a waste. Then again, you can’t have everything.

    Cheers for the double chapter~

    1. Lily is immoral and ambitious. Remember, it was her actions specifically that gave Tomoki the brain washing eyes upon being summoned, and she doesn’t mind having the world burn if it means she can accomplish her revenge. She would 100% try to use or incite Makoto against the demons likely no matter when they met, at best to the extent of Eva and at worst to the extent of Tomoki.

      1. for a second there I thought I was wrong as to who gave what. Thank goodness @Saens confirmed what I know.

        @O-(-‘.’Q)
I agree with you with Lily being ambitious, though I’m unsure what you mean by immoral. In fact I even agree with her using Makoto for her benefits. However. Like what I said, “there’s a possibility” that Makoto could remedy/lessen her twisted thoughts. And he could. Makoto is naive, and sometimes it’s all it takes to influence a persons heart. Add to that, that he has Tomoe and Mio beside him as a restraint to her, Makoto managed to change an evil Lich after all. Makoto and Lily has something in common, that is Bug. Albeit, Lily’s hatred is on a different level because of what happened to her family, Mother.

Also, the reason Lily even began on that course of action was because she got Tomoki, specifically his eyes, and adjusted her plans to incorporate her unexpectedly useful toy she got. She even made him her lab rat for their already existing experiment.

  40. After leaving my last comment and then reading the comments on the previous chapter, then rereading the comments on this chapter, I think the commenters (myself included) are expecting a little too much from our MC. A ‘normal’ highschool kid from modern & peaceful society gets transplanted into a mid-evil, sword&sorcery world with no notice. He’s given superpowers (but no guidance on how to use them), the deity who was supposed to help him screws him over and throws him into a wasteland.
Since then he’s managed to make, defeat, or attract friends/followers and figured out a way to make a living. Then he finds out the race he should be closest to is the most opposed to him (from is looks), but still makes a couple of allies and tries to start a business in order to function in this new world, while still learning about his powers and his subordinates abilities as well. While is power is (almost) god level he’s just learning how to be effective with it, and he’s made a partnership with a powerful merchant but is still learning how to run a business (in general and in this world in particular). All this in the course of 1 year.

I think it’s stretching the bounds if credibility (even for fiction) to think a 17 year old kid can master his powers, become a top combat expert, become an expert in international business, while dodging a sh!tty goddess who likes screwing him over, while also creating his own country/dimension with at least 7 different races in attendance.

    1. He’s actually free to allow others to manage the things he’s currently too incompenent to handle (at least until he#s able to manage). Saddly, he often doesn’t actually bother with delegating all these tasks he#s currently ill-equiped to handle … which is the result of most of the messes he caused thus far. It’s not like many of these messes (besides adventurers running wild within Asora, blowing some stuff up) had any noteable consequence for him (as, overall, it’s just on the level of getting screwed over while playing around) as nothing of severe importance has been lost yet, but … yeah …

      1. Umm, yes actually, he has delegated most everything besides the store to his followers and has Shiki dealing with most of the store related issues. To the point that when he woke up late Shiki had already dealt with several problems that had occurred. Makoto spends most of his time learning how to control his power and thinking of how to teach the kids.

Back when the school arc started people were complaining that Makoto had delegated everything to his followers and now they complain that he is not delegating…

        *sigh*

  41. When I saw Makoto is going to consult his companion, I thought of him going to yell “Tomoemonnnnn, Help me. The merchants were bullying me!!!”

    1. The one who could solve this double quick is actually root, simply because he has his fingers, hands and entire arm in the mundane world for so long, he will have had plenty of contacts with country leaders.

Whether he will help is a different matter.

  42. Thanks for the double chapter!! the story was moving slowly and kinda boorish but now with the way things are going for makoto pretty sure hes going to snap though i dont know how he will clear things in an anger way or smart way or maybe both but im pretty sure its both anyway this will clearly affect the whole world alright. I cant wait

  43. I can’t wait for him to say “Screw you Hymans, I’m going to take the Merchant Guild’s advice and stop selling to you Hymans and sell only to Demi-humans and maybe Demons for they haven’t pissed me off yet.” Then put up a sign out side his store saying no Hymans except his students allowed. Then a side note saying any store I find that is selling goods from my store will be destroyed with extreme prejudice.

  44. DAMN WHY WHY DAMMIT why didnt makoto break there! it was the perfect oportunity for leaving this boring arc already and stop being a bitch of just bla bla bla politics and sells to a traveling battle again.. damn i was so %·$·$”3 happy when he said he was on his limit….damn in terms this chapter actually makes me pissed off more than the last since what i $”$·”·$” want its that he stop being a merchant already, and go back to traveling. if he never ç4″·$”·$ stop being a merchant he will not fight since he its hiding his abilities and THE ONLY FIGHTING he will do its when he its alone or transported, leaving it to only 0.002% chance for him to battle and everything else done by tomoe shiki n mio. damn at least if he had snapped there and demons attack he would really fight himself and proven even if merchant guild say it it will be a lie but thx to that he didnt snap AGAIN all will be fixed by tomoe or mio -_- damn SO $”·$$”$ BORING still i like this novel so i guess il see next chapter if something change

  45. Reminder that makoto is really only playing a merchant as a cover in this world, while in reality he is far closer to a head of state.

  46. well the last charapter was bad but at certain point realistic finaly someone questionated smeone that comes from nohere full of power influence and no one make questions XD but serious wait till mio hear about it will be fun =D

  47. Possibly the biggest issue i have with this type of stories, is that protagonists are handed insane amounts of power, and then proceed to do fuck all with it.

Makoto controls an economic and militaristic power that dwarfs every other nation in the world he is in.
He could easily crush any opposition he has through pure power (magical, financial, political, you name it).
He won’t, and he shouldn’t (too boring), but he should atleast aknowledge, and consider, he possibility.

He should, however, use some of that power to take out those who actively oppose him in a way that discourages repeat attempts.

  48. Thanks for the double post.

I kind of knew Makoto was screwed when he headed to the Merchant Guild alone. He really needed to have Shiki with him, Shiki is much better at that kind of interaction. The Merchant Guild said they investigated but Makotos cover story from the start was that he was the exiled sone of a merchant family that kicked him out because he was no good at buisness. Then this guild brach leader pokes him at it while insulting him the entire time?

Makoto is likely to be down for a little while before his anger at everything starts to boil over. He has shown that he does the slow burn kind of anger, and that kind of anger is much more dangerous then the flashing rage kind, for it burns slowly for a long time and consumes everything before it goes out.

Merchant Guild head is also going to find that he has a lot of people unhappy with him. Remember, the Academy is of greater importance then the Merchant Guild (They told Raidou to focus on the school instead of his shop as first priority) and they just upset the teacher that taught the winner of both the individual combat and the team combat with ease. Raidous stock as a teacher is going to jump but he has just been told to get out of town. The countries are all going to go looking for him to hire him to teach their armies and he will be in the mood to just tell them to F off. If they then go and look into why he is in such poor humor…

  49. If Tomoki were here, she would have been able to use his eyes to attract them.
    “she”
Finally Trashmoki is revealed to be gay wahahahah

I’m a bit sad that Amelia doesn’t give a damn about Raidou not being there… if only she knew the real Shiki

    Thnx for the chappy~ Nanodesu~

    1. It’s not that she doesn’t give a damn, but that Shiki is more important for her.

Also at this point I wonder if even Shiki knows the real Shiki.

      1. I know that it was Makoto’s plan to act as the strict type, but I just feel a bit sad she sees Shiki as more important…

Well the fact Shiki still does experiments I think he still has bit of Shiki-before personality.

  50. I thought that Tomoe had noticed that Makoto has a naïve and (at times) an immature personality and had trained him to be more cunning and deceptive, it’s a major flam that he has and I’m honestly surprised that none of his followers are doing anything about it. Is there something I’m missing? I’m really curious and disappointed why Makoto hasn’t mentally developed much even after meeting Rona whom should have atleast put the idea of strengthening Makotos’s charisma into Tomoe’s head. You may notice that I’m focusing this responsibility of Makoto onto Tomoe , I believe Mio is still too thick, and Shiki still doesn’t know Makoto well enough yet.

  51. I gotta say, the Human Side really is full of geniuses. One fo humanity’s trump cards, aka Sofia theDragon Slayer, the highest level adventurer turned traitor, and the solution is to insult and turn hostile the two level 1500+s. I love logic.

Well, if we follow normal logic, Kuzunoha has no choice but to continue trading accordingly with the Merchant Guild, but with Makoto, they can just abandon it at anytime, considering that they have their own world where everything is free.

  52. In a nut-shell: everyone here is tired to see mc being bossed around by small fry having a superior dragon and the calamity spider in a master/slave relationship,

  53. Well equally is very stressful and gives a feeling of disgust see how they handle a person in such a hostile manner, that apart they are insultanto you are demanding collaboration, seriously every being has limits, but one seat to everything is a little stupid, because I tell you, simple that a person is sediendo all, he notes the lack of experiensa, their thinking infaltil and ultimately only be a puppet to be controlled by anyone, and that is something boring and regardless of whether one is inflatil or immature and experiensa little one will not be seder to nadien, that’s what is called dignity and it seems that Makoto does not know the word, from everything I’ve read, he’s very indecisive in decision-making and is not known unwrap in situations that require drastic and fast deciones and demonstrates too scary, just hope they do not put Makoto as a puppet of everyone of those who have power at the time.

  54. Thanks for the chapters. Things are finally starting to get more interesting again. This whole school thing has been pretty boring so far.

    1. Wha-really? I actually rather liked the school stuff. Lots of different perspectives, with relative peace but a quiet demonstration of Makoto’s extraordinary specs at the same time.

Not saying I’m not eager for what comes next, but it’s been fun in my opinion.

  55. I think this will be a secondary problem and it will solve itself throught the tournament.
Rona was plotting something, and probably will be bigger than a merchant nor wanting Kuzunoha in his city…
Also, I like the MC having problems and not solving them throught violence, if anyone wants that kind of history, better read wuxia and xianxia.
The only thing I concur is that he is a bad merchant and he should be doing other things… or learning from it.

I only expect a short tournament, the things that can happen latter seems more interesting.
Thank you for this double chapter!

  56. I feel like I’m one of the few who think the Vice-Guild Master wasn’t that bad.

I mean, his behavior was awful, he was incredibly rude, but at the same time, he was being very truthful and just not sugar-coating things.

Makoto knows when people are being unreasonable, or unreasonably greedy. He showed that much when the Church visited him.

I get the feeling that the Vice guy was just angry as all heck that there was this kid running a business, and (the kid) was greatly underestimating the difficulties of the profession. As such, he just laid out the difficulties/problems, that Makoto will face with zero sugar coating and a lot of spite. I think he even says “Go back to Tsige until you learn more.”

Like when Makoto offers to pay him off. I could see how being treated as someone bribeable so openly could make a person angry. And so he tells him “You want to bribe me? Fine. You’re also going to have to bribe this competitor, that competitor, etc. etc.”

The Vice Guild Master was being an absolute jerk, but by the end of the meeting, what has really happened? He told Makotot that he’s under a lot of suspicion for association with demons, and he got Makoto to admit he was using teleportation. Beyond that, I don’t think much happened.

    1. No, I’m with you.

Granted he wasn’t the nicest or most tactful about it, he’s hardly Raidou’s ally so there’s no reason for him to be. Considering that, his frankness was valuable considering how few people are willing to call Makoto out.

His followers and Asora’s citizens idolize him and let him do whatever he wants. Trashy nobles, adventurers, and students don’t have the ability to have the right to say anything to him. People of authority like the church bishop, Rona, and Lorel’s representative want to establish good relations with him.
So far, the only person I recall justifiably warning him about the future is Root, who’s had experience with world travelers over the ages.

      1. Makoto needed a bitchslap but the other half of the conversation was pure coercion to get Makoto as a slave so rather than an evil merchant that guy was rather in the grey-zone.

  57. On a different note:

Does anyone else think Hopelace was hypnotized by Rona?

Just guessing, but Rona had a purpose in coming to the Academy, where there are a lot of Noble families. Since a lot of families have their sons and daughters fighting in the war (I’m guessing the eldests who would control the families when they get older), if they die, the kids in the academy will take control.

So it would not be a stretch for Rona planning to control/ruin the countries through their children, after killing off a large number of them on the battlefield.

  58. Thanks for the double chapter! I wonder if the merchant guild could even do anything to Makoto, unless he lets them. Sending assassins is out of the question. Makoto has a monopoly on a variety of goods, so they can’t manipulate prices much. Maybe they can deny him a storefront, if the cities laws give them that power.

  59. Amelia is really cold hearted onna.
Makoto already broke before when he looked to Mio the hatred eyes when she made roge verbal slip, and she felt the chills…
I have feeling that I’m goning to like (in respectful way) the Lamia king,

  60. Thanks for the chapter
I really liked the previous chapter, finally someone able to challenge Makoto, the guild master was not wrong, Makoto and basically a teenager who was very, very lucky. Everything has been going naturally for him because he is the protagonist, and apparently nobody can go against him and he does whatever I hope he can solve. That with intelligence
