Chapter 197: Like a Phoenix

Sponsored Chapter

“Wa~, how splendid. So that’s the purple cloud that’s been doing no good.”

At a certain place of the wasteland, looking up at the sky, there’s a purple cumulonimbus cloud.

It had a magnificent size and height.

A purple cloud in the blue sky.

What a highlight.

“It has quite the scale. With this, counting the location, a lot of casualties might be brought about.”

The one who accompanied me when I said I wanted to see a purple cloud if there’s one out, was Tomoe.

Quickly investigating the area that it appeared in, she brought me here.

“Place? Around where is this in the wasteland?” (Makoto)

“At a considerably eastern part. The mountain range that can be seen at the front is dividing the lands other than the wasteland.” (Tomoe)

Tomoe points at the mountains rising perpendicularly.

Obviously, I can’t see the other side.

“When you say east, does that mean it doesn’t have anything to do with Tsige? There’s no base here so, where would the casualties come from?” (Makoto)

“Lorel Union. At the other side of this wasteland is the Lorel Union. If I remember correctly… there isn’t such an important place or a big town in the maps, but there should be a forest and a river, so those will be exposed to damage.” (Tomoe)

“The wasteland is really vast huh. It even makes contact with Lorel territory.” (Makoto)

There’s no accurate portrayal of the wasteland in maps, so I didn’t know.

“The mountain range continues on for quite a long way, so it doesn’t feel as if it is making contact with Lorel after all.” (Tomoe)

“If I remember correctly, Lime is curently there, right?” (Makoto)

Hibiki-senpai is in Lorel, and Lime is telling us her movements.

It seems like he is going together with them, and the detailed information reaches Tomoe’s place.

“Yeah. I am already thinking about having him return soon though.” (Tomoe)

“That means Hibiki-senpai and her group are about to return to Limia?” (Makoto)

“That’s what’s expected. I have been unable to make contact with him these last few days, so it is only a guess though.” (Tomoe)

“If it’s Lime, he should be fine. Senpai is also there after all.” (Makoto)

Tomoe makes a slight face of unamusement.

“Is Hibiki that much of a person? It is certainly true that her head works relatively well, but I honestly don’t think she is as high as Waka praises her to be.” (Tomoe)

“I think that Hibiki-senpai is a genius. To the point that I wouldn’t be able to believe that she is only one year apart from me. I do think that my bow skills can be considered a talent, but Senpai is really a person that can do anything.” (Makoto)

“Aren’t you over evaluating her?” (Tomoe)

“Really?” (Makoto)

“It is certainly true that she has excelling points, but I think that Waka is an even more excelling existence. That’s how I feel. It is hard to say this, but Waka’s evaluation of Hibiki might enter into the category of admiration.” (Tomoe)

“…Maybe. If Senpai were exactly as I had imagined her to be, she wouldn’t be in this parallel world in the first place. I wasn’t able to ask her about this the time I met her, but well, I admit that admiration is mixed in it.” (Makoto)

“Waka won’t grow dependant on Hibiki, but it looked like she had more talent in being a politician than being a warrior. It might be unnecessary, but just to give you a slight warning.” (Tomoe)

“Thanks, Tomoe. I will be careful.” (Makoto)

Well, even if she says that, I don’t think that Hibiki-senpai would set me up.

There’s no reason for that.

Leaving aside Tomoki, I think Senpai is okay.

I did give a warning to Tomoki after all.

“…And so, Waka, have you seen plenty enough of that purple cloud?” (Tomoe)

“Even when we call it, there’s no reaction. It seems like it is impossible to communicate. I think there’s a way, but…there’s no need to go that far.” (Makoto)

“Then you don’t mind heading back now, right? Later you have classes, and there’s also the contact of Limia. Shiki has gone to Rotsgard first, so Waka should also go soon.” (Tomoe)

“Yeah. It doesn’t seem like it can be used in my lectures after all. Next is…” (Makoto)

I call Azusa and set an arrow.

“Waka?” (Tomoe)

“If we leave it be, it will head to Lorel, right? That place is working as a receptacle for otherworldlers, so I was thinking about helping them a bit, you see.” (Makoto)

“In that case, the debt would be bigger when damage is caused, you know?” (Tomoe)

“Hahaha, how to say it, it is not like I want them to be indebted.” (Makoto)

“Compassion is not for others to see, or something like that?” (Tomoe)

“It is a bit different from that too.” (Makoto)

Preparing the arrow, and in a stance where my aim is plenty enough, I answer Tomoe.

The location I placed my aim at was a core-looking part that I found by using [Sakai].

At a point where it is especially thick in density within that gas formed cloud.

If I shoot there, it will probably show results.

What Tomoe said might be close to how I feel, but it is slightly different.

I look for a word that might serve to denote it.

“Ah, right. ‘Sending a favor’, might be closer.” (Makoto)

Releasing my arrow, I speak out the words that I felt were most appropriate.

“Sending a favor?” (Tomoe)

“They gave a home to the Japanese otherworldlers that fell into a parallel world. Leaving aside their motives, I think there were many who were saved because of that.” (Makoto)

“Well, that’s probably the case.” (Tomoe)

“That’s why I felt a debt towards that action of Lorel, and I am returning that debt. It is not a debt that I received though.” (Makoto)

“Is that something the preceding Japanese wished for? To return the favour of people you don’t even know of, it is a feeling I don’t understand well. I also don’t understand why you won’t look for a reward in this matter.” (Tomoe)

The place that the arrow pierced had a hole opened in it, and with that as the starting point, the purple cloud scatters.

The resistance was low.

It is true that it shot through the target, and yet, it felt like it was a fake.

It is the peculiar feeling of an archer that was telling me this.

But it is certain that I did shoot through their link, so it’s probably not gonna turn into a big disaster.

Frankly speaking, the fact that the sensation of ‘killing’ it is not clear is making me have a bad feeling.

Even if I want to confirm it, I don’t have the time.

Well, if anything happens in Lorel, I have the reports of Lime.

It should be okay to deal with it when I learn of it.

“Why I did this, or anything further than that, even I don’t completely understand it myself. Just that, since they took care of my fellow Japanese, I thought of helping them out a bit. Sending a favour is just how I called it.” (Makoto)

“So my learning is still lacking huh. I have to devote myself more. No matter the case, it was splendid. With this, it will probably be unable to create any big evil.” (Tomoe)

“Ah!”

Damn it!

“What’s wrong?” (Tomoe)

“Sample. Shiki said he was interested as well!” (Makoto)

“If it’s about that, I have already collected it and send it to Asora. If it’s only a small amount, it shouldn’t pose any danger, and it won’t pose any problems either.” (Tomoe)

“…I’m glad. Then, let’s go back.” (Makoto)

“Understood. About the people that are going to migrate to the sea, I am thinking about selecting them with the idea of Waka. It will probably take a whole day with Mio and I. If I think about the dried anchovies I will be able to grill, this cannot be called a pain though. Fufufufu~~” (Tomoe)

“Prepare a kotatsu and oranges.” (Makoto)

“Well well, I am looking forward to it.” (Tomoe)

Now then, I wonder how Jin and the others are doing.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

[Now then, it has been a while since our last lecture.]

Shiki and I were at the outdoor field of the Academy, facing the students.

But what’s bothering me is not the serious expressions of my students, it’s the massive amount of gazes being poured at us.

[There’s a lot of spectators.]

[I want you to step back so that you don’t get injured though.]

The later half, I write it towards the students that are spectating.

But the response that came back was mostly about them not minding.

Even though most would leave after saying this in the past.

Well, if they say it is okay to get injured, it is fine then.

The contents of it are the same as what I applied at the office department after all.

[How enthusiastic. Well, okay. Just like always, we will be doing a combination of mock battle and reflection.]

Jin silently lifted his hand.

[What is it, Jin?]

“Who’s the opponent? We want to change our formation depending on it.” (Jin)

It seems like they have been thinking about it a lot and have prepared for the lesson.

Truly zealous.

Comparing it to when I was in senior high school, it makes me feel embarrassed.

But this time would trouble me.

Because I want to see their current skills after all.

[First of all, I will have everyone face a new opponent. The contemplation of it will come later as homework. The mock battle will be with a long distance and close combat. We will be doing a mock battle with the party that you have assigned for it, and do a contemplation and discussion of it. These are the plans for today.]

“A-A new enemy?” (Jin)

Without the need to wait for Jin’s words, tension runs within the group of students.

I wanted to see how much strength they have against an enemy they don’t have information or countermeasures of, and then, after carefully seeing it, I will decide how to train them.

…But the opponent is someone that, if I could take my time looking at the fight, they would already reach the approved line though.

“There’s no way…it could be Shiki-san or Sensei, right?” (Amelia)

Amelia asked nervously.

Eh? Did their heads get slow because they tasted being matchless in this End of the Century-turned Academy?

“There’s no way Waka-sama or I would be your opponents. If you get conceited like that, you will bring about unnecessary injuries you know, Amelia.” (Shiki)

“Sorry!!” (Amelia)

Shiki says it for me.

With how it looks, I will have to wring them a bit harder huh.

[Then, prepare.]

“Raidou-sensei! When you say ‘as always’, you mean…everything goes, right?” (Yuno)

Yuno asks for confirmation.

[Of course. Struggle with everything you have.]

“Understood!!” (Yuno)

It seems like she has a hidden card.

The students that were guided by Shiki take their positions, and then they make their formation.

…They are divided in a standard formation of vanguard protecting the rear guard.

They don’t know what will be coming, so they are going to face it with the standard first huh.

That they don’t have a clever scheme might be an indication of their self-confidence.

Now then, let’s call them then.

The two are busy, so let’s go with a time limit.

I confirm the situation with thought transmission, and then, I open a door for Asora.

“…”

“…”

The ones who appeared were two.

The two were looking at their surroundings and confirming their opponents, and after bowing once at me, they looked towards Jin and the others, and took their stances.

“Then, I am counting on you; Ema, Agarest.” (Makoto)

I whisper towards the two.

Confirming that both nod, I take distance from the place that will most likely turn into a battleground.

The opponents of Jin’s group this time are Highland Orcs.

Number one magician, Ema; and the number one warrior, Agarest.

The small height Ema and the giant Agarest that surpasses 2 meters. The difference in height is so big, that one would wonder if they are actually from the same race. But even if they look like this, Ema would win in a long ranged fight.

Now then, what will happen?

Or more like, how many minutes will they last, huh.

While at it, I exchanged looks with Shiki, and he understood what I wanted.

“Begin!” (Shiki)

At the same time as the signal comes, Jin and Daena go for the first move, and dash.

Daena is faster by one body length.

It is a power that he has been training since before the Academy festival.

Without any extra details, it is enhancement to all stats. Daena himself calls it Second Stage.

He is using it from the very beginning.

Compared to the instantaneous enhancement of Jin, its consumption is not good, but to get twice as strong is kinda…appealing.

At that rate, if Agarest doesn’t move, it feels like Daena will arrive first by several seconds.

The rear guard didn’t move, and while being cautious of the Orcs, they began their arias.

And there’s also the vanguard that serves as the role of shield, Misura, standing at the starting point, and it seems he is just waiting and watching.

It is not like they are being overawed or being negligent huh.

Agarest is a macho that looks like a mass of muscles, and in contrast, Ema has a harmless appearance like that of a plushie.

With the first look at them, one would normally get scared or underestimate them, but it seems they are not. That’s impressive.

“I will scatter them.” (Agarest)

“Yeah, that’s what I thought you would say.” (Ema)

Looking forward, the short words of Agarest were responded by Ema who is at his back.

Right after, the body of Agarest was wrapped in a dark red light, at its surface, patterns rose and it increased his intensity.

Daeno who saw this, decreased his speed; Jin also grabbed his sword with both hands and took a stance.

Too bad.

The correct answer was to continue running forward.

“Fuh~~”

Pointing his shoulder guard to the front, he holds his halberd with the opposite hand.

Agarest who is heavily equipped, charges power into his body and breathes in. He makes a clear to understand expression.

‘I will be rushing now’, is what his stance was saying.

No, it’s exactly what he did.

“!!”

“Daena, spread!” (Jin)

“Understood!” (Daena)

Being pressed by the pressure, the hesitant Jin and Daena moved.

Their judgment was fast.

Just like what Jin feared, Agarest rushed forward while still enveloped in light.

It was truly the dash of an Orc that left everything to power.

If it were a normal situation, Jin’s judgment would have made it with spare time, but there’s also the spell of Ema.

I heard that in Kaleneon, he used his whole power and had become stalwart in the fight of Kaleneon.

If Agarest comes flying, it would seriously be no joke.

Agarest passes through the middle of Jin and Daena who had gone to the left and right, and they were assaulted by the squall created by Agarest and the spell of Ema.

“Geh?!”

“A shock wave, and also, heat?! Guh! Damn it!!”

Even though they weren’t touched, the two students were fallen on the ground as if a car had crashed on them.

Jin seemed like he still had the ability to speak so, maybe he let himself be blown away without going against it?

It looks like he is not unscathed, but it doesn’t seem like he is completely out of the fight.

Daena looks like he is still okay. So his elevated powers saved him huh.

But how will the students that are in the crashing point fare?

Agarest’s attack has not even begun.

But this is strange.

His movements were slightly dull.

Did Jin and Daena do something?

“Mi-Misura…I am counting on you?”

Amelia deploys a barrier and takes distance from Misura.

She said it in doubt maybe because the barrier she made herself would serve for basically nothing, and she is unable to gauge the power of that attack.

Following, Izumo and Sif also create a barrier, and support Misura as they back away.

In a manner that she covers Sif, Yuno also backs away.

…Even if it’s his role, it looked like bullying.

All the magician members are already maintaining their magic ready to be activated.

It is impressive that they are able to challenge this when just a few seconds ago they were screaming.

So they will be activating those spells soon, facing Agarest.

Misura…

“Scary. This is seriously scary. A giant mass of steel is charging towards me with enhancement magic. Even if I block him, the people at my back will be shooting the spells and hitting him along with me. Why did I choose to be the role of a wall?” (Misura)

“How pathetic to show fear in your face… Hm?”

“… But, this is a lot better than going against Tomoe-san!” (Misura)

He became serious again huh.

It is certainly true that Agarest is better than being trained by Tomoe.

It is unreasonable to choose between bad or worst though.

“…Hoh~”

The shoulder guard of Agarest destroys the three barriers without showing much deceleration, and the greatsword of Misura made a dull and heavy sound as they collided.

Normally, because of the height difference, Misura would be send flying, but…as expected of Misura that is completely specialized in defense.

He is also able to shift the power of the attack well in practice.

There should be quite the shock and damage, but he was able to stop Agarest.

I also shared the simple surprise of him.

As expected of Tomoe’s favorite.

But in terms of follow-up actions, he is out.

“Splendid. I was surprised.” (Agarest)

Agarest indifferently mutters.

It may be at this late of a time, but is it okay to be speaking in common language?

Maybe I should have made them mute like the Lizardmen?

Oh, the halberd of Agarest approaches to the side of Misura.

Well, he is already unable to move, so evasion will be impossible.

While Sif and Izumo were preparing their spells, and Amelia her bow…

“Everyone, it still isn’t over!!” (Misura)

Misura commands the rear with unexpected words.

And then, as if he had no damage, he swings the great sword that was down, stopped the halberd, and then shifted it aside.

Hey hey.

He should have received enough damage to even reverse his organs.

At the Academy festival, Misura had a dangerous hidden card like ignoring damage, or more like, it was numbing the sense of pain and aiming for a simultaneous strike.

But even if he used it in this occasion, his body shouldn’t be able to respond to his call.

Just what did he use?

“Now!!” (Misura)

While I was surprised, Misura shouted this one word that resounded in the whole place.

“Hm?” (Agarest)

Agarest noticed an abnormality from his feet, but by that time, it was already too late.

The ground undulates, wraps around the body of Agarest, and on top of negating the support magic that Ema placed, it restrained his movements.

Sif huh.

Misura received that support, and with a light move, he retreated back.

While that happened, fire and wind raged towards Agarest and was attacked by a fire tornado.

“Guh.”

A linked attack between Izumo and Sif.

With the upper half that Agarest barely managed to free, he swung his halberd and was trying to scatter the fire and wind.

And then, an arrow that had already finished targeting its objective flew into it.

It was stopped by the halberd.

As expected of Agarest.

He still has leeway with that toughness.

After that, a magic formation endowed to the arrow exploded as if stolen directly from Shiki’s forte.

In that part, Sif is also involved.

By giving firepower of her own to the attacks of others, she is able to make even stronger attacks.

Instead of synthesizing magic on her own, the power and consumption is better this way.

If I remember correctly, that arrow was the one they used to defeat Ilumgand.

Amelia has already completely added it into her repertoire.

They are fighting while thinking well, moreover, they are seriously trying to win.

Everyone has grown more than I thought.

“Just because you are a magician, doesn’t mean I will hold back.”

Jin and Daeno who I thought were still recovering, had targeted Ema and charged at her.

So that signal was also for Jin and Daena!

Daena was already at a distance where making an aria was impossible, and Jin stopped his feet at a slightly further away position.

Impressive.

Their foundation is good as well, but it seems like Jin and the others have seriously worked hard to win against the Mist Lizards.

That’s why they were able to prepare a plan like this even when their opponent changed.

Seriously impressive.

“I will seal her movements! Daena, finish it!!” (Jin)

I feel like Jin had activated a magic that was hard to see.

Its presence was strangely dim, so I can’t tell well though.

“Of course. Got her!!” (Daena)

The dagger of Daena approaches Ema, and then…it slashes air.

“…Hah??”

“An illusion?!”

As if the landscape had been rippled like a water surface, Ema’s figure disappears.

It was a good fight.

It was worth seeing.

Sif who won the Academy festival, was called the champion, but if the students that are spectating this spread rumors of this fight, Jin and the others, all of them will be the champions of this End of the Century Academy.

“Hyumans are also beings that can’t be underestimated huh. It has been a good learning experience. But student-san, in the field, what you first have to suspect is camouflaging moves, you know? Especially against opponents that are not moving.” (Ema)

“!!”

The voice came from a place slightly further away from Agarest.

At that place, Ema was there.

In reality, Ema was clung onto Agarest and was together with him until the middle.

Because Jin and Daena were blown away, they were unable to catch the real body of Ema.

But even if you call it camouflage…it is quite hard to see through an illusion that has presence.

And when it is a camouflage that is enough to blend into a plain that has a good field of view, I feel like it is already something on another level of camouflage.

Unless it is cancelled, Jin’s group wouldn’t be able to notice.

She is the almighty magician of Asora, Ema-san, after all.

She is in perfect form.

In her surroundings, she has already deployed several magic formations.

Too late.

Jin was punched by several unknown things to the point that he was lifted up to mid-air; Daena was instantly turned into an ice pickle; the footing of Misura turned liquid, and when he was buried up to his neck, the ground turned hard again, restraining him; Izumo silently fell asleep on the ground.

The remaining were Amelia, Sif, and Yuno huh.

Eh? Now that I mention it, Yuno…

“Rocket Kiiick!!”

Wa?

Aimed at Ema who was activating several spells, something was falling from the sky.

Ema who was aiming to defeat Amelia and Sif, quickly cancelled the two spells, and takes distance from the falling object.

It seems like it didn’t hit, but…

Ema was now behind Agarest.

And then, at the falling point…

“…”

Everyone was silent.

That’s an obvious state, as there’s a strange ‘something’ standing there after all.

“Why is that thing going to where Yuno is?” (Makoto)

My voice unconsciously came out.

As if being squeezed out.

For a moment, the image of the radical gravure version of Hibiki-senpai came to my mind.

But more than that, this deep crimson suit gave me a headache.

So when Yuno equips it, it is red huh.

No, that’s not it!!

Mio, didn’t you say that you only created one of those?!

A suit that tells about the preferences of someone completely.

Even though it fell from the sky at high speed, it is completely fine. Pointless endurance.

An attack power that was enough to gouge a hole in the ground, and a technique name that doesn’t match its power.

The thing that I equipped in Limia and pledged not to ever wear again in my life…was there.

“It is okay to utilize equipment from the Kuzunoha Company, right Sensei?! I have taken a liking to this! It is my main equipment! I need a lot of magic power at the time of equipping it though.” (Yuno)

Please spare me.

“Now then, here I come! This power that I obtained in exchange for the treasured book of mother. I have to create results, or I won’t have a tomorrow!” (Yuno)

Even if you get results, you are a goner.

Fuh~~

At the same time as I sigh, I face towards the scene.

Agarest has already gotten out of the restrain and is completely fine, and Ema has already taken her stance.

It should be fine to leave it to them, but no, as expected, I will step in.

Shiki is also placing his hand on his head as if holding back his headache.

I can totally understand how he feels.

[Yuno, was that from Mio?]

“Yes, it is from Mio-sama. It was given to me through Beren-san! All-purpose full body armor, trial version, Excavator!” (Yuno)

Excavator…

Heavy equipment huh.

Or more like, that thing will actually be able to do a lot.

If Beren is also involved in it, I will have to believe that its capabilities have been limited!

But more than that, just looking at it makes me writhe!

I might die from embarrassment.

[What book did you take out from Oku-sama?]

I have to return it to her.

And I have to give a sermon to Mio.

“All four volumes of Lorel’s local dishes. It was already gathering dust anyways, so…” (Yuno)

It seems like the tension has calmed down a bit.

Maybe they were able to guess my actions from now on.

Even if you understand it, it doesn’t mean that I will be forgiving you, you know?

[Yuno]

“Y-Yes?” (Yuno)

[Reflect on it!]

I hit the helmet.

Hit it.

Hit it.

Hit it.

“Kyaa!! Sensei, I am being buried! I will end up buried!!” (Yuno)

[Reflect on it in a dark place. Actually, be buried.]

I heard a ‘Kyaaa’, but I ignore it.

I bury her deeply.

No, I hit.

Yuno was safely sunk unto the ground without any regrets.

Finished.

“Ema, sorry but, can you search for those books that Mio seems to have? I will go return them.” (Makoto)

“Ah, yes.” (Ema)

Ema who was completely out of combat mode, agreed to what I said.

I will acknowledge their efforts.

Jin and the others have grown stronger.

And there were several parts where I didn’t know what they were doing.

It is something that can be solved after asking them later though.

In terms of one talent, they are probably already not at student level anymore.

But more than that, I thought of something scary.

That series, could it be that a number of them have been leaked to this world?

Do they have Crane or Shovel?

If that’s the case, a scary contamination might occur.

I have to retrieve them at any cost.

I have to retrieve them all.

“Uhm, Waka-sama.” (Shiki)

“Shiki?” (Makoto)

“It seems like we have received a contact from Limia Kingdom. Please return to the company. I will do the reflection and discussion.” (Shiki)

“Limia…Limia huh. Honestly, I don’t feel like it is the time for that, but…understood.” (Makoto)

The spectating students that had stopped cheering at the middle of the mock battle and had only been looking in silence, noticed me and opened up a path.

Could it be that in Limia Kingdom as well…no way.

It should be okay, right?

While I was returning to the company, this uneasiness was attacking me.

      Ahahahahaha…
      XD…

        1. I assume there was a level of skill and technique in his fighting style that caught her eye.

It’s hard being dps. It’s even harder to tank for allies and continually pull aggro.

      1. It’s probably just on GMT, a lot of site templates default to GMT.
Oh, looking it up, it’s actually called UTC now, Coordinated Universal Time. England is in that time zone.

    1. *calls you*
Why are you outside when I haven’t called you yet….?
      *whisper*
We have to confirm first if spoiler-san gave some info yet… If he does… You know the drill…

  1. Oh man, reigo-chan must be happy, we got to see ema in action this time…..as for me seeing makoto bury yuno like that is great and hilarious, love how the student will now have a fear of him too….anyway good chapt and thanx as always

  2. [Well, even if she says that, I don’t think that Hibiki-senpai would set me up.

    There’s no reason for that.]

Just when I think Makoto actually matured up, then he thought something stupid like this…

    1. I think Makoto’s maturity has been less to do with how he views people, and more with how he chooses to deal with them.

He knows he’s not good at complicated plotting and politics, but he’s decided on how to approach the situation.

Like he told Sari, if you don’t betray him = friend. If you do = enemy.

Hibiki hasn’t betrayed him yet, and hasn’t antagonized him like Tomoki did. So he’s not going to stress himself out suspecting everyone.

      1. I do get why people are saying that Makoto should be careful of the the Hibiki in his dreams….but I don’t think she played a particularly significant role in any of them.

IIRC I think she was just in the first one, when Makoto goes on a microwaving spree. And Hibiki didn’t betray him or anything, she was just not on the same side of the war. (Makoto never met Tomoe/Mio/Shiki) Makoto basically struggled through the world and turned crazy murderer.

        1. Yeah, I think the problem is that we the readers were given the conclusion “Hibiki is an enemy” first and so it’s hard to see Makoto ignore the hints of her being a threat throughout his dreams.

Sort of a “Look! It’s obvious!”, but the truth is that the information there isn’t as blatant as we think-not that Makoto’s innate personality does him any favors.

It’s kinda like if you watch a playthrough of a game you know well (Phoenix Wright would be my go-to example) and the player spends half an hour not noticing the solution to a puzzle while you scream at the computer screen.

          1. I can understand that. I lost count of how many times I’ve nearly been driven to smack my brothers because one of them didn’t notice the obvious solutions to the puzzles in Zelda.

      1. Sif only has spirit protection. And how will the students assume otherwise? Makoto buried her by hitting! lol

  3. So I guess it’s safe to expect plenty of comments about Makoto being too naive with Hibiki for this chapter. I’m actually a little confused now for exactly how Makoto sees her. Some sort of superwoman-school anime idol-Perfect Sue genius?

Actually, I’m even more interested in exactly how capable Makoto was back on earth. He’s acting pretty small and humble(probably because he was born in a supermodel family and joined a club of beauties), but could he have actually been pretty badass in his own right even back then? All I remember about Makoto on earth are 1, he was absurdly good at archery; 2, he got sick often; and 3, he had data on his computer he thanked Moonbro for deleting.

Another thing I’m feeling a lot of this chapter’s first section is this weird gap in values. Tomoe seems genuinely unable to comprehend the idea of helping someone without some sort of angle, and both Tomoe and Makoto deal with killing the purple cloud lifeform with a very thoughtless attitude. None of these should be new information, but something about it just seems…weird. Is it just me?

    1. I think Makoto may well have been more badass than he thinks. Remember he received archery and combat training at a shrine before joining the kyuudu club. That training was enough to keep him from getting sick, then earn him the #2 spot on the team. As far as Hibiki, it’s probably the natural way that juniors look up to their seniors. He knows in intellectually that he’s stronger than her in every way, but in his heart she’s still the school beauty and student council president. I’m thinking he’ll persist in this until reality bites him in the ass and she ‘betrays’ him somehow.

      1. To be fair, I’m not sure you even need ‘betray’ stated like that.

IIRC, when she met with them, she straight-up said (or rather thought to herself) that she would have to take care of the company at some point, whether it was before or after the war. Presumably she meant either forcing them to swear loyalty to Limia or attempting to destroy them, neither of which Makoto would see as friendly.

        1. And I bilieve in his age generation he must be the number one nationwide since he was forbidden by his sensei to compete in the tournaments and representation giving that he will overwhelm.

      2. I stated ‘betray’ like that because it could be a situation in where her (Hibiki) actions are seen by him as a betrayal but not meant as such by her. While the end result would be the same, it might not have been an actual intention. In certain situations Mio’s actions in trading that sentai suit for cookbooks could be seen as a betrayal (for Makoto’s self-respect and self image). That’s an extreme reading of the situation but it illustrates the point.

      3. hmm…i think the princes of Limia might see what makoto can do “veva minds eye” and with a small warning from him or one of his followers they’ll leave them alone….for a time.for ever one thinks that they can take his power for them self…..tho the demon race gave up on that idea and change to a “keep them from attacking us” plan

    2. If you include that the top 2 beauties are falling head over heels for him is already badass in itself! Hope i get to hear about them again :”(

    3. Back on Earth Makoto was the bottom of the heap average mob character from anime, the guy who is childhood friends with the school idol and the popular guy, and only two people at school knew about his actual archery skill, since he usually wears glasses to screw up his vision and half-asses practice.

Yeah, the thing with that cloud had heavy foreshadowing scrawled all across it in some kinda thick tarry paint. Something is coming out of that, maybe the new follower….

        1. If he did, he still would, and it was pointed out that he didn’t wear them when practicing alone after school. That’s when the girls fell for him, causing all sorts of trouble, when he was freely being himself after school.

      1. Does any1 think that the cloud is the artificial soldier that the demons created? (Refrence around 30 chapters back)

    4. His badass side would probably only appear when he’s doing archery. Considering his condition on Earth, he was limited in things he could physically do and he has kinda proven his intelligence isn’t op(or high). His most redeeming feature would have been his diligence towards archery and the level of skill he achieved in the field because of it.
And yes most comments will probably be about Makoto’s naivety. (Me doing one of them)

      1. Makoto is pretty strong. To be able to pull a bow requires a lot of upper body strength, more than wielding a sword actually.

Most people would not be able to draw a bow for more than a few seconds, to fire one continuously, quickly, and accurately requires a lot.

      2. I actually try to do archery back in my days, well I can tell you those string are unbelievably heavy, to maintain aim and to do continuous shoot are not trivial matter, of course I don’t know about traditional archery with all those ritual makoto did, but even sport archery requires quite a bit concentration and massive arm strength.

    5. Tomoe inability to comprehend the idea of helping someone without some sort of angle may be contributed to be a superior dragon that has little interaction with other beings. Since she used to lived in the depths of the wasteland, the number of people that could reach her were limited and those that did only came with selfish intentions( the forest onis wanted a barrier, hyumans wanted to defeat her for glory). There’s also her ability, she able to see the thoughts and memories of those caught in her grasp(i say this figuratively), so she may end of seeing some really nasty things in peoples heads.
As for there handling of the cloud, I can only say that it’s the arrogance of the strong. Tomoe aside, Makoto has probably become accustomed to being stronger then everything and not being threaten by anything. If the cloud could have purposed a threat to his life or those following him, he wouldn’t have handle it like this or let it go when his instincts told something was wrong.

      1. Yeah, if Root and Lancer are any indication, beings on that level just sorta don’t care about lesser beings and wouldn’t bother until they had a reason-however whimsical it may be. I just feel like I saw more of that side of Tomoe with this I guess.

I don’t think it’s exactly an arrogance of strength sort of thing.

What I’m talking about isn’t thr fact that Makoto did it so much as it is the fact that he did it while considering it might be possible to communicate with the clouds in passing. It seems a bit unlike Makoto-or at least the soft one people have been complaining about again lately.

        1. Immortals are more, I guess you could say detached? Yeah, let’s go with that. They’re more detached than us. In Tomoe’s chapters, I sometimes got the feeling that she was just an observer, not connected to the events around her. All the superior dragons are like that in some way or another, I’d guess.

As for the cloud, he did try to speak with it. It just didn’t respond. He judged that if he couldn’t convince it not to harm anyone, then it’d be better to get rid of it. Of course, it probably ignored him because it didn’t think he mattered. It’s probably never been in a situation where it was in danger from another living being before. Wonder how it’s going to react.

      2. Can he communicate with it? I kinda imagine that cloud was like a swarm of bacteria. Although they’re living organisms, they lack the intelligence to communicate with him.
Also, i wouldn’t say this is makoto being cold, but not being able to summoned up empathy due to the clouds characteristic(being composed of countless gas like organisms). Kinda like how people feel bad seeing animals hurt, but feel bad when they step on a ant.

    6. Yes, his naivety vexes me. Or rather the way he always change how he view himself and other people he interacts with.

With Hibiki : she is fellow Japanese so she is trustwotrhy. She is a hero so she is amazing. I was her junior so I should be humble.

With the Leaders : they’re being selfish but since I am just a mere merchant so should not oppose them.

With Tomoki : He is a hero and I am just a merchant so I should be humble? NO! I am his senior (even though just by a year and not even the same school) fellow Japanese so HE should be humble to me.

With Goddess : she is being selfish but since she is the goddess I should not oppose her? Fuxk you! I am going to hit her HARD just you wait!

… So yeah. He needs to man up.

      1. Well firstly, it seems to me that Makoto’s behaviour is pretty reactional. He’s civil to Hibiki and the country leaders of every faction because they treat him with a cautious courtesy.

That idiot Tomoki, on the other hand, tried to trade women for his precious family, and then blatantly threatened him.
Bug also treated him ridiculously callously firstly by treating him like a cochroach spreading germs in her home to be thrown out, then acting as if he owed her everything she wanted.

If we’re talking about “manning up”, so long as I don’t have a very mistaken understanding of Japanese culture, Makoto’s behaviour is very much in line with what a Japanese man should behave like. That is, he’s civil to strangers and respectful to people in a superior position by rank, ability, or seniority until given a reason to be otherwise. He’s loyal to the collective group (Asora). If anything I think he’s somewhat lacking in initiative and responsibility, but that’s mostly because he doesn’t actually have the capability to do any more and has to rely on his followers (plus Ema).

        1. Well I don’t exactly remember the dreams but I believe aside from the demon lord one, he did not exactly man up and that bite him back hard bringing him into the unwanted outcome, isn’t it? I need to reread to be sure..

      2. I wouldn’t say that i don’t want him to man up, but only after he gets someone pregnant. ( Looks at Tomoe then looks at Mio, briefly, yes very briefly, glances at shiki).
But more then anything, I want him to wise up, his naivety has hurt people before(ring incident) and it’ll most likely hurt people in the future.

      3. I would actually believe now that shiki has given a new life and it might surprise us that he might be already a graunt lol. Since their contract is actually based on creation magic

    7. If you read the first chapter about the heros of Hibiki you can see that she was “that” kind of character loved by everyone with talent in everithing and will learn all fast, Makoto admires Hibiki in secret back then. That is why he can avoid to think that she isnt the kind of people that manipulate someone or sacrifice someone else for his own interests. Specilly after Makoto is a fellow Japanese and he did nt give her any motive

The next have info of the SS so dont read if you dont want
About Makoto Badass, he originally didnt have more than 1 talent but he denied that one and start to training in Archery after all the effort he put in that he got his (Sure hit/ Hit the target ) talent but for what is told in the SS he was maybe the best archer in the world just that he never show to others bisides Munakata Natsu sensei and Gennoji about his skill in archery, Gennoji( Ishidou Genichi) wanted to train Makoto so badly that he send of his others students his reason was that he wanted to train makoto because he didnt have a talent for the sword. Makoto after learn from Natsu how teach to others archery he become really good at that, that was one of the reasons the cap from his club wanted Makoto like the new cap.
Just a few know about how good was his archery because he avoid tournaments and in the club never shot with all. So yea he was badass but just a few know about that.

About Tomoe she is more Indifferent towards hyumans and is easy to understand they are mostly a race racist against all other races even i will doubt help that kind of people bisides she help sometimes others like the barrier for the forest onis and if you look behind she was a superior dragon most of his life so why she will have empathy towards others?

      1. Yes, but you most also think about why she came to this world. Makoto came to this world in order to protect his sisters. Trashmoki is trash, nuf said. So why would Hibiki abandoned everything she was back on Earth in order to come to this world.

      2. I tought that Hibiki also have no real motive to transfer to different world. She just agreed to it because Goddess give her a blessing to ‘not get fat even if eats a lot’.

        1. “Because she was so fulfilled, she didn’t have that much attachment to reality, to the world.

So when she was told about being a hero, she was slightly attracted.

One who overcomes difficulties and accomplishes a goal. To have a goal is nice.

There was no need for the Goddess to add a function in her body that would make it impossible to get fat even if she ate too much, the answer of the girl was already decided.

It was most likely one of the triggers though. Having received the freedom to eat anything without minding about it, the girl gave the Goddess an affirmative response. And that’s how we are in the current situation.
She have such a easy life that she wanted a challenge ”
Technically she didnt have any real motive bisides that, it was like a child wanted to play the hero she give by fact that she will win.

“There was one student that was in the same school that she thought was interesting but it wasn’t to the point that she could call that student a true friend. No, there won’t be a chance for that anymore.”
I thought that one was Makoto but it seems i was wrong

    8. You can think of it as Makoto isn’t like the Hero(lol) who looked down on other person including older people from same world just because he got a little power. And Makoto think that Hibiki isn’t like the Hero(lol) too because her personality still looked the same as when she was in the previous world, So, he think Hibiki still have the rationality of a person of previous world and didn’t suspect her.

      1. Right, she acts the same as she did on Earth. Of course, that says a lot about appearances belying the truth. Although I do hesitate to judge harshly. She’s intelligent, and her instincts are sharp, but she’s planning to provoke someone she can’t afford to because of those instincts. On the other hand, nobody should be expected to be able to realize how in over her head she is with the amount of information she has. I would like to think that if Makoto had given Hibiki the same lesson he gave Tomoki, she’d be much more wary of provoking him and take the stance that the demons have decided on, unlike Tomoki.

        1. I think you’ve pretty much hit the crux of the problem with Makoto’s relationship to other factions. They vaguely know he’s powerful, but there’s truly too little information for them.

Because of this, the most reasonable policy in any other scenario ends with most factions shooting themselves in the foot. In a sense, the demons lucked out because they got to see Makoto for what he truly was during their attack on Limia.

          1. Nobody knows who or what he is, because of that, they make assumptions. And when assumptions are made, more often than not, mistakes are soon to follow.

    9. hmm…about tomoe i think she do understand the meaning of compassion to stranger(her favorite drama was about that kind thing), what she don’t get was why makoto have to feel a “debt” toward loriel…

example case was like this…you are from nation Y…last week you see on tv, someone from nation X named andy.. saving louise,he was from nation Y .. then today you accidentally see andy have a trouble with his car will you help andy? if you answer yes..why? is it because he saved louise or because you pity him?

    10. The cold blodded attempted murder of a community of living organisms was certainly weird to me. Didn’t think Makoto would attack a community of mamonos(?) because they represent a possible danger for a hyuman country, no matter how good it was to fellow japaneese in the past. Guess the lack of empathy with an unknown, inorganic life form came to play there. He probably felt like he was simply getting rid of weeds or pests in a stranger’s garden. I wonder if the Makoto from before the attack on the academy would have done the same.

And yeah, Makoto is still quite the naïve youth, but that’s basically been the case for the last 197 chapters, at this point, we can only hope for drastic events or new people to influence him enough so that he grows up a little more.

      1. The thing is, that cloud doesn’t seem to be sentient. And it’s a threat not only to hyumans, but also non-hyumans. If something is a threat and you can’t reason with it, TAKE IT OUT! Might not be the best way to deal with the problem, but usually effective.

  4. Tempting Mio with the cooking books, she’s quite clever. Too bad that “equipment” touches Makoto’s sensitive feelings and won’t be approved no matter what.

The thing is good, but the appearance really needs to change. Yes yes, in fights better to have function over fashion, but sometimes you just can’t use something you can’t accept no matter how good it is.

    Thanks Reigokai. FeelsGoodMan

    1. Agree. Yuno is unexpectedly skilled in bribery. Maybe Makoto was right when thinking that more than one suit made it’s way to the outside world?

      1. If we consider the standard colors: Red, Blue, Yellow and Pink; the interchangeable colors: Green and Black; and the special bonus color: White; if Mio made one for each color then there is enough for each one of Makoto’s students. I worry for the future… Oh crap! What if the Eldwarves are developing a Megazord?!

        1. I can see Mio controlling a giant spider mech(that’s incidentally weaker than if she just fought with her bare hands). But Tomoe probably wouldn’t use a mech unless it was a giant Steel Samurai sort of deal…

      2. well then…. if tomoe still picky about it then we just have to change the Zord from Dragon and Spider zord to Lich and Spider Zord that transform into Samurai model (like the 2nd megazord that look like samurai from the american ranger series) the Lich use the Spider Zord as the samurai armor but still the Final Attack use the Bow since its makoto trademark

  5. gezz that power ranger gear is surtenly getting around hehe….”sigh” raise your hand if you think a power ranger group will be in the comeing. -_- /

    1. ‘go go power rangers’ that…i dont remember what there called in japan but basically he feels some shame from it and seeing some one wearing it well it touch a sore spot and he decided to…..”cover up” if you get what i mean.

  6. “Well, even if she says that, I don’t think that Hibiki-senpai would set me up.” FLAG!!
i just hope that his admiration toward hibiki is not on the level of disease.
and sentai ranger is on the scene!

  7. LOLZ! The ranger series has been scattered around the world cause of a certain someone XD and it might turn into a sacred treasure lol!

  8. “A shock wave, and also, heat?! Guh! Damn it!!”

Awww I read that as “neat” instead of “heat” thought he was used to uncommon at this point and was just enjoying it.

    Thanks for the chapter.

  9. Watching the matches from the school tournament they took an interest in some of them. I imagine the stayed around for some training during the city clean up.

  10. *sighs* I was happy with Makoto improving/maturing, but this ruined it. He had four visions of alternate Makotos and the second one talked about Hibiki had a ability similar to trashmoki’s charm. The fourth mentioned that she sees herself as some kind of messiah. I know this information doesn’t drop her to the level of trashmoki, but it should hint that she may not the person he think she is. He should at least doubt her a little and question her actions. Just thinking about how his pointless faith is only supported by the fact that they went to the same school is giving me a headache. level of trashmoki, but it should hint that she may not the person he think she is. He should at least doubt her a little and question her actions. Just thinking about how his pointless faith is only supported by the fact that they went to the same school is giving me a headache. I can only feel that whatever damage she’s going to cause him is well deserved.

Also, is anyone worried that Lime may have been done in by Hibiki’s charisma ability?

Sorry, my poor internet caused some lag when i was posting.

  11. i’m kinda confused. doesn’t the equipment is a bikini armor?
the sentai armor is the armor raidou use to hide his face from hibiki in limia kingdom battle, right?

  12. WOO! And we’re finally back to Raidou-sensei’s classes! Even more, it’s Dread Secretary Ema in an Asoran Orc combo this time! Aaaaaaah~! >w< Needless to say, I loved this chapter. It was exciting, hilarious, and all around satisfying for me.

His students are impressively keeping up with that standard of common sense where they instantly react with fear at the idea of a new opponent. They're even wise enough to not let their guards down for an instant despite one of the opponents looking like a plushie(lol). It's too bad the caution (presumably) seemed to be mistaken as conceit in their own strength by the teachers.

Holy crap, can we give Misura some acknowledgement for facing Agarest's Gear Second head on? What could be more despair-inducing than accepting a blow both you and the support that buffs you know is out of your league? ….According to The Unfortunate Wall, being taught by Tomoe apparently. I totally forgot she even did that.

Actually, let's just give all of the class's current students a round of applause. They've grown very well and matured beautifully so far. Seriously trying to win Raidou-sensei's fights, and going the extra mile to have a concrete image of how to do it. Bravo, kids! You've already gotten your absurd teacher's approval. And although it was mostly because of Yuno's banned (from existence) equipment, you survived the mock battle with minimal casualties, be proud.

…….Super Camo Dread Plushie Secretary Ema!
I just wanted to shout that out. No reason except for its own sake. ( =´ ∀ `=)

  13. Makoto is looking at Hibiki with too much admiration, like a fan. He needs a dose of reality of her as soon as possible. As for Limia, I guess it’s the cross-dressing princess.
    Thanks for the chapter!

    1. Wait, what? Something like that existed.
Also, pleased be careful with spoilers, someone spoiled too much last chapter and kinda ruined the surprise of future events.

      1. In the chapter about Lime in Lorel, where he met Hibiki, a lot of people felt that they had good chemistry with each other, including me. I’d be with the other shippers on this boat if I felt that Hibiki could be convinced to not attack Makoto and Kuzunoha.

        1. I’m definitely supporting a ship between those two, but in a sort of “watching the ship sink in Titanic with popcorn” sort of way.

It won’t work out no matter how things go(short of Hibiki outright joining Makoto, I guess), so I’m ready to enjoy the drama between two mere mortals while everyone either cries or points and laughs.

      1. when he said “say goodbye -for- HxL ship” I initially thought the ship just sailed too. Honestly? his use of “for” still confuses me.

I interpret it at sth that shuts out any other potential shipping, as HxL ship already sailed.

  14. “I am not good at thinking that much. Betrayers are enemies, contributors are allies. That’s how I think, and that’s all. I want to go simple.” (Makoto)

Those line weren’t for Sari but for the Readers lol

  15. I remember aroumd 30 or so chaps ago the demon lord said something about artificial sodiers from the wasteland. Any1 thinking that it is the cloud?

      1. well another way of looking at it is what was the devil was wearing when Hibiki seen him?
and what happen if Hibiki discover that sentai armor was from a store ware ever one is stupidly powerful that it makes every kingdom wants them but is scared if they fall in a another kingdoms hands.
it easy for some know to think that eather they have document’s of, or is inlege, or even there are the devil whom can kill a dragon easily with just his pinky finger with zero effort.
and here we have mio giving them out like it nothing…tho oddly enuff i want to see how Hibiki behave when she lurns who is the devil.

  16. Thanks for the chapter reigokai-sensei…
Lol, that ranger armor for you makoto…
Nice fight for the orch n makoto disciple

  17. If word about that sentai armor coming from Kuzunoha, even the fact that Yuno had it, got around to Hibiki, it’d be absolute proof that the Devil is tied to Kuzunoha. Of course, Mio and Makoto haven’t realized this yet.

    1. In their defense, even i didn’t make that connection and I’ve been re-reading chapters to improve my understanding of the story. However, would having absolute proof that the devil is a part of Kuzunoha make a difference? I mean she already knows that they have some kind of connection, so would this change much? Also, the same could happen if she sees Shiki.

      1. It gives her an excuse to have Limia’s people investigate Kuzunoha more thoroughly than they most likely already are, and she might start planning to draw him out and try to kill him, and set it up for the church to be against them because of what she heard the Devil say. Ultimately, though, it changes nothing, I guess. She’s probably been planning all that anyways, and it’d be easy for someone as smart as her to make credible excuses and reasons for those investigations without being traced back to her.

      2. That sounds like a great development ^.^ Thinking that antagonizing them will save Limia, only to have it begin the apocalypse.

Would the hyuman factions attack Kuzunoha because o their connection to devil? They’re already cautious/scared of them cuase their power is unknown, this would only make it more unknown and terrifying.

      3. In short this will most likely trigger enemy flag with hibiki

I do concerned when I know Mio has embezzled those armor outside, I think limia has got hold some of them too (hint on transmission) because cook book, what else lol.

    2. I believe Hibiki is already aware of the Devil’s connection with Kuzunoha. That’s the main reason she went to investigate the company in the first place. And it was the Devil himself who informed her of the connection (IIRC).

Makoto’s student using the same kind of armor as the Devil would rather be good misdirection, since it shows that it’s a product that Kuzunoha has given to others.

Two words. Plausible deniability. (I always wanted to use those words!!! Thanks for giving me the opportunity! 😀 )

The Devil purchased the suit from Kuzunoha, and Yuno got hers through her connection with the owner of Kuzunoha, and one of his subordinates.

      1. if i remember right a surten litch told Hibiki that he known the material for her sword and he drop the name of Kuzunoha company name and stated he know how good there produces are witch imply he knows them.
and i don’t think Hibiki will be convents that is chants that devil’s armor and that Kuzunoha is making them are just mere coincidence and will try to dig deeper in “who are the Kuzunoha and what are there goal’s?” and with the mind set that they are working with the devil.
but hay only the fucher knows.

        1. She will definitely look deeper into Kuzunoha, but not to find out more about the armor.

She already knows that Makoto is the owner, and him being from the same place as her, she would have reached the conclusion that he brought the power rangers series over. Which is true, but not in the way she assumes. Either way, case closed.

Actually, now that I think more about what you said, there is one possibility I can come up with.

Hibiki could assume that Makoto is just a figurehead, and that someone else is pulling the strings from behind. For instance, the Devil.

But I don’t remember there being any indication of her thinking in that direction, yet.

      2. THAT IS WHAT IM GETTING AT!!
i mean after Shiki basically told her “i know about Kuzunoha” just look how much info she got.
with her knowledge and instinct got that much just what will happen if she sees some one running around in that armor with a “made by Kuzunoha” tag on it who know how much will she discover hell she might not only lurn that Makoto is the devil but about Asora and that he rule it, the fact he meet the demon king and is some what on friendly terms with them, that the giant spider that almost killed them is mio and Tomoe is a superior dragon and the strongest dragon is trying to get in bead with him.
for remember Hibiki made Tomoe to be on gard to her in turms of data gathering.

        1. From your previous post, you’re implying that Hibiki would know that the Devil is working with Kuzunoha, while all she does know is that they have a connection (as in the Devil might have used their services once or twice).

She also didn’t get that much information, and most of what she knows is just speculation on her part.

No matter how much you investigate, information doesn’t just drop like loot. Hibiki needs actual sources to get the information from.

Mio’s and Tomoe’s identity isn’t exactly a secret, but it’s also not something they just spread around.

Tomoki found out Tomoe’s identity because one of his followers could sense it. And Tomoki won’t volunteer that information to Hibiki, since he doesn’t see her as equal, nor is he interested in cooperating with her. He only works with her because it’s more convenient, but he leaves the more tedious tasks to her.

As far as information sources, Tomoki and Lily are out. Root might share that information if he’s feeling trollish enough, but Hibiki doesn’t know to ask him to begin with, so Root is also out. So currently there are no sources for Hibiki to learn of Tomoe’s identity.

Tomoe is wary of Hibiki because she sees her as a schemer, and doesn’t want Makoto to become part of those schemes.

Mio’s identity is known by Hibiki’s familiar, but she’s not able to communicate with it on that level, so unless Mio herself drops that into her lap, Hibiki doesn’t have any sources that could inform her of Mio’s identity.

Asora is probably the best kept secret, considering its importance and the number of individuals that know about it. You’d think there would have been at least one slip up in all this time, where someone with the knowledge accidentally mentioned it when they shouldn’t have (especially that troublesome forest oni duo), but no.

If even the bug can’t find (and most likely doesn’t even know about) Asora, then what chance does a mere Hero stand?

Her priestess friend might be able to get a glimpse of the truth, but since Asora is shielded by the power of 3 gods, I doubt even she would be able to tell. And no one who knows about Asora will talk about it to those who do not. Unless that information comes from the top (Makoto and followers), no one will learn of it.

One potential clue that might lead Hibiki to Asora are all the races that are considered for immigration to Asora. But those are mostly small communities that are generally isolated from the rest of the world. Not to mention that the Hyumans don’t even pay attention to those they consider below themselves. Even if they noticed the sudden disappearance of several races, they wouldn’t give it a second thought, so the information wouldn’t even find its way to Hibiki.

Finally, Hibiki is underestimating Kuzunoha. She considers it a somewhat powerful merchant company, that besides their official business selling cheap medicine and food, also does some unofficial business with powerful individuals behind the scenes.

She has made an assumption of Kuzunoha based on what little she knows and that will keep her from looking for clues that contradict her assumption.

      3. well i was mosly jokeing about the stuff she will lurn but still i don’t think they want some one who was “close” to are beloved op Makoto poking there nose around them for there is no telling what she dig up.
and like you sead that Hibiki is a schemer so that mean’s she have some idea on how to get others to do what she wants.
also remember that preast that keep’s on calling Makoto a sage? well she have seen hint of just how strong Makoto is and well Hibiki might be able to get a hint of info from her….im not saying Hibiki can get others to sing there secrets to her just that she is a schemer and might find a way.

so to keep ever thing hush hush it’s best to keep out of her radar.
but if she do’s find out that Makoto is the devil and that he will not bend his knee to any ruling party
i wonder what will she do?

try to use him in a schem? phh… they have a mind reading dragon that can show others what your thinking for all Tomoe have to do is pull up one of Hibiki schem’s of useing him and then check mate Makoto not fall for any Hibiki tricks she had cook up for him.

  18. “Ema has a harmless appearance like that of a plushie.”

    straight right to the kokoro.

    Cheers for the hardwork~

  19. red power ranger armor and needing lot of mana to power it up? sounds like yuno got one of makoto’s mana rings from beren too.

    1. well she sead it was a prototype and she do’s not use her mana as much if memory serve me right so it probably need less magic vs the one he used.

    1. This is a passerby…

I think there is about 50 chapter left until the last update from the author
The author had not being update since last yr.
I am not sure why thou…

Well, I do hope the author continue.
      This WN/LN is really interesting.
It brighten my day whenever Reigo releases a new chapter

  20. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Somewhere in the world the blue, yellow, green, black and pink suits lay waiting for those chosen to wear them.
    -Excerpts from Makoto’s nightmare-

      1. Details, details…
Hell, here Red is a girl.
And if you think about it, Makoto can be considered an illegal alien. 😛

  21. Tnx for the chap😘

Maybe it’s couse im not japanese I dont understand this “great admiration” for your senpai…She’s only a girl one year older than you!!!! Not some kind of deity!!! If we go with Makoto reasoning shouldn’t he workship Rooth way better?!? The Genius Superior Dragon that’s a being one step away from God’s realm??? Hes an Hentai I know but even Hibiki have her own “perverted points” (gravure idol armor)….

The second part doesnt need comment… only a wish: EMA WAIFU ROUTE’S TEAM, DONT LOOSE HOPE!!!!

For the last part, about Limia call…I just want Joshua waifu route to be triggrered…Till now Ema and Joshua are my favourite female subcharacters…well even Sairitz is winning “kyun-point”, but she have yet to show some special cute trait….

    1. I think it’s more than just Senpai-Kouhai thing. Makoto actually admires Hibiki because she’s the most popular girl at school. Academically, she at the top position too. That’s why Makoto said she’s smart, unlike him because he feels like a normal guy, academically.

Performance wise, Makoto is better in extra curricular activities because he had strong will to survive and have amazing archery skills.

But Makoto seems to be too easy to trust others that have similarity with him (being Japanese). He doesn’t suspect anything bad from Hibiki… that’s baseless confidence. Tomoe knows that Hibiki is the ‘scheming’ type so she warns Makoto.

Not that anything Hibiki does will affect Makoto or Kuzunoha, but that will still make Makoto angry. As angry as Microwave-Makoto from the first dream.

    2. You know that if a female character reacts to a lucky pervert moment without violence then she’s bound to be a good character.
I’ve been reading silverio trinity(VN) and the first part hero reminded me a lot of Hibiki, if you listen carefully to his “cool”comments then he looks like the perfect hero but he is too eager to sacrifice people and satisfy his ego.

  22. I was surprised when Ema got ‘summoned’ by Makoto for the mock battle. Well, I guess it must be, in part, Ema’s request since she wanted to see and check his hyuman students.

Mio and Belen is up for a scolding and punishment.

But Mio might get happy instead. 🤔

      1. hmm what is a punishment for a M…..well knowing mio likes to eat Makoto can tell her “as punishment you not aloud to eat dinner for tonight!” like in “Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku” when the beast girls get punish with meat aloud they have a “it’s the end of the world” look on there face.

  23. mio: waka-sama! waka-sama!

makoto:hmm? what’s it mio? i have a meeting with shiki to plan a new lesson for jin&co

mio:fufufu you don’t need to teach again waka-sama!

    makoto&shiki:??

    mio: please follow me, waka-sama!!

shiki:well we still have time waka-sama, why not see it for a while

after walking about five minute, i see a nightmare in the form of rainbow

    jin: shiki-sensei,raidou-sensei!

    amelia:excavator 1-7 reporting in shiki-san!

yuno:sensei this is amazing! i think i can beat blue-lizard-kun with this!

    makoto&shiki:*facepalm

    makoto:mio….

mio: wait waka-sama! the real one not here yet desu!

makoto:(mio-san…what are you doing…hmm?? for a while i feel some earthquake, weird…well i just ask tomoe later, the most important is…)

beren:mio-sama!! it’s completed ASOZORD is completed!!

in the horizon i see a giant come running…IT CAN BE?!!

    1. My demands for future developments just got a lot stricter.

I won’t be satisfied with just Makoto punching Bug in the face anymore. He has to do it from within Azordra.

        1. Which will be great as a part to be built into the final product. Unless Makoto can physically make it punch something though, it’s not enough.

Having a full body would make the Bug reel back more amusingly anyway.

    2. well they can use that ASOZORD while makoto be the special White Ranger using his creation + materia prima for building his own special ZORD maybe like the first power ranger white which model of godzilla ?

  24. Can anyone tell me what Hibiki had used there to get in that bikini form and what chapter(to be exact) is it?
OMG I forgot so much. Thank

    1. Hello, captain here.
I don’t remember which chapter… (the one where Makoto wears White Ranger suit probably).

When Makoto was thrown in battle (by the Bug) to save her Heroes, Shiki put a protection barrier around Hibiki. It also prevents her from going to battle. At that moment, Hibiki had a revelation ( or more like she went into herself like Ichigo did in Bleach, that kind of thing) and she met a certain entitiy that gave her power. Same as Tomoki did when he receives the Nuke-like power. So, cutting the story short, Hibiki got the strength to break Shiki’s barrier (and said power also transform her into Hibiki-in-bikini form or Hibikini as I like to name that).

      You’re welcome.
      *Captain Truck flies away*

      1. Oh oh,I remember it now.
I can’t recall it because when makoto first met hibiki, he said she was like cosplaying with extreme exposure, so I thought she was tattered even before she met him, that I kept finding it around those Participation chapters and couldn’t find anything

      2. No, that was just her armor that could transform (i think it was the belt she got from the godess or some other sacred treasure). That was the speed+attack enhance mode. She was already wearing that even before Makoto and Shiki showed up.

      3. Still can’t figure it out. I need to reread…
        Still, thank you Truck-kun.
P/s: I think there’re enough Recarnation Plot, please, stop hitting people 🙁

      4. I remember that the belt is a sacred treasure that changes into a wolf familiar…
Does it turn into bikini too?

Psst… sometimes the ones I hit didn’t reincarnate. I just.. hit them. That’s all.

      1. yeah, it was after Makoto and Shiki were summoned by bug.
But don’t know why when I reread it quickly, I still couldn’t find the detail about what happened before Makoto met Hibiki.( Makoto met Hibiki in the end of chapter 154)
        Well, I need to reread it…How could I forgot… ._.

  25. Well Well Well…the students have seriously grown well, that was an impresive figth, they are just lacking in expierence so far, Yuno, you poor thing you just awoke makoto trauma rigth there, I’m pretty sure that the demons are forming their own Sentai demon team. So the phoenix in the story is the suit or the cloud???

  26. ” “Kyaa!!
    Finished.” 😀

    Thanks for the chapter 🙂

  27. [First of all, I will have everyone face a new opponent. The contemplation of it will come later as homework. The mock battle will be with a long distance and close combat. We will be doing a mock battle with the party that you have assigned for it, and do a contemplation and discussion of it. These are the plans for today.]

    “A-A new Stand User?” (Jin)

    Thanks for the chapter ^^

  28. How is he still so naive and trusting towards the other Japanese there? :/ I thought he got over the naive Japanese MC trope long ago… and both Hibiki and the other guy are even pretty obvious about having ulterior motives.
Makoto is actually getting proactively warned by his closest aide and he still doesnt suspect anything and lowers himself to put sacred senpai on a pedestal. After slaying dragons and demon generals, you’d think he’d get to a certain level of self-confidence at least. Just don’t culminate in a clichee ‘Betrayal’ arc please

    1. He got the self-confidence in his power. Its just that he thinks politics and such is too complicated so he separate everybody into two, enemy or not enemy. If not enemy, then he won’t bother doing anything. If enemy, he will annihilate them. Its a very naive way without leaving inbetween (Sari knows it) but he figures no matter what they do, he can retaliate back and chances he die is very very slim.

Also, the other thing is his friend kinda supports the attitude. Root and Tomoe already noted that he’s still very naive but they want him to stay that way and grows on his own. The others will do the dirty work of cleaning the path for him and foiling plots. Makoto probably knows from feeling that others will deal with any threats somehow so he does not improve by leaps and bounds.

  29. thanks for the chapter

yuno used the “excavator armor”, and ended up being burried herself… fate has a weird sense of humor.

  30. Since when you guys have impression Makoto mature up alot? His way of classifying people is damn naive with nothing inbetween but he got absolute power over everyone else sans goddesses so he figures that anything they do to threaten him and Asora is just “inconvenience”. Also forget japanese value, you guys didn’t think that he probably thinks that if Hibiki wants to do something, his Aides will do something about it?

also the thing with his naivety, his friends + Root wants to preserve it since it is his main charm point. Nonchalantly tanking Highest Superior Dragon’s attack and use creation magic? he don’t know the significance of it but he thinks it means he’s strong enough to protect Asora even with his naivety

    1. To me it seems like Makoto keeps getting these flashes if realization.
About the world, about the people, about himself…
And then he promptly forgets or ignores them.
He has all the pieces of a puzzle, but instead of assembling them to findout wtf is going on, he throws them in a drawer and forgets about them.

His strength and servants allow him to get away with that, but atleast for me this detracts from the story, he has no real goal, no drive and little growth.
Supporting cast is good enough to carry the story, and it is a great story, but Makoto is what holds back the story from reaching its full potential in my opinion.

  31. I keep thinking about what would be the most appropriate punishment for Mio, and I keep coming back to two ideas. 1) Make Mio attend every meal for a couple of days, but not allowed to eat. 2) Make Mio watch as Makoto gives Tomoe a kiss (on the cheek) and maybe cuddle a little.

  32. Ema’s finally got to be an academic opponent. Congratulations Jin and co. You have been deemed worthy of a place in Ema’s schedule. She’s busy so hurry up and give it your all and fall! She’s got worlds to run and countries to build.

          1. Which would still be awesome. But…they should probably already be questioning why Ema calls him, “young lord,” instead of, “master.”

  33. Bahahaha! I just Imagined chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai karate chop to the head scene….
But the girl(Rikka but in this case it’s Yuno)actually gets buried from getting hit xD

  34. Thanks for the chapter Reigokai!
Just get buried obediently Yuno! It’s your own fault for messing with Makoto’s dark history! XD

“Daena was instantly turned into an ice pickle;”

Shouldn’t this be “Daena was instantly turned into an icicle;”? I know icicle and ice pickle kind of rhyme, but when I googled ice pickle, all I got was the horrifying revelation that people actually make pickled gherkin flavour icecream. *shudders*

  35. Eh~ So that’s the come back of the naïve MC-chan ?

Well, I’ve got not much to say about this chapter…
Though, I’m intrigued by the chapter’s name ! “Like a phoenix”, huh ? Does that refers to that purple cotton candy which seems to still hide some secrets ? Or more likely to that embarrassing Sentaï suit ? AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

So, next time is the return of that Okama princess ?! Can’t wait ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

Thanks for the chapter ! Approching the 200, good work !

    1. I mean, if you really think about it, why are they embarrassing?

For kids? Says who? In fact, if you want to average the ages of all the people who like them on this world… ;P

  36. Thanks for the chapter Reigokai !! Really liked the awesome chapters and excellent translations. 🙂 I’m new here and really enjoy this work. Keep up the good work!!!

  37. Thanks for the chapter! Man, lots of comments about:

1- Makoto’s naivety: yes, he is naive, but: a- His followers keep him like that. Why didn’t Tomoe just say: “that day in Rotsgard, Hibiki was taking information from you. She wants to use the senpaixkouhai relationship to take benefits from Kuzunoha Company; b- Makoto has already questioned himself if he was “too defenseless around senpai”, and said he didn’t like to suspect her… as a result, he simply adopted an attitude of: “screw it. Not like she can do anything anyway. I’ll simply obliterate anyone who tries”, and c- above everything, trashmoki’s atitude made him realize he must impose himself more. He said it himself! Therefore I expect some good things from him during this visit to Limia!

2- Oh my gods, Ema-chan! That was sooooo great! And Yuno getting the suit from Mio is so LOL. I want to see the repercussions from that!

3- About the purple cloud: last chapter was all about the 4th servant, now its all about empathy towards other beings, haha!. And Makoto didn’t even destroy it for real, did he? Well, I’ll just say this: when it’s time for dealing with the cloud… there will be “loyalty issues” going on! *hint hint*

3.1. Just in case truck-kun comes by: I set 2 cards facing down! Turn end!

      1. Trap activate! Trump Election! By the power of causality manipulation and baseless prejudice, a giant wall keeps anything undesirable OUT! XDDDDD

    1. So evident ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
I take the bet on that Pseudo Spy Lime.

I don’t think I’ve spoiled but just in case, for that maniac truck…
If you wanna give it a try, rest assured that I’ll thoroughly play with you, you crazy horse ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

    2. There is a saying, “If I tell you that this person is good, then you will have a favorable opinion of that person, however you won’t know if that person is good or not until you meet them.”

If Tomoe just gives Makoto all the answers and tells him which people are good and which are bad, it will only slightly effect his opinion. At worst, Makoto won’t be able to grow as a person if other people judge his personal affairs for him.

    1. Then how about we have more people of other nationalities write these stories?

Considering that several LN of this nature are relatively popular internationally, it is kinda strange we don’t see more of the world traveler stories.

    2. There are several LitRpg novel by american an russian authors where they travel to game\ rpg worlds that are sometimes real or digital. A good new novel that closely fits the japanse tropes though is Delvers LLC by Blaze Corvin. He has 2 books puplished and can be found on amazon or a free unedited version on his web site. just do a google search for link.

  38. well their is some world traveler /réincarnation novel who are chiness or korea it just that there is not a lot of light novel produced in euro-american country that are for more mature ppl usually they are children one of mystery one some time you have cop but fantaisy light novels are rares

  39. “Well, even if she says that, I don’t think that Hibiki-senpai would set me up.”…

“But it is certain that I did shoot through their link, so it’s probably not gonna turn into a big disaster.”………FLAG!!! -.-

  40. Oh boy, it would so lovely if the almighty mage Ema makes a pact with Makoto. She could be an even stronger mage than Shiki, for his chagrin.

  41. “Is that something the preceding Japanese wished for? To return the favour of people you don’t even know of, it is a feeling I don’t understand well.”
Don’t worry Tomoe, even I don’t understand him, he’s weird after all

  42. One part of me want to see a fight between the students and the hero party of Hibiki, I now that the party of Hibiki will win without doubt at this current point of time at least, but I still think would be interesting.
