Chapter 198: Gossip – Hibiki and Lime

‘What am I doing?’

Lime Latte was at a slightly further away place from the camp as he said this monologue.

(Seriously, something is wrong with me. Like this, it really is as if I am in a party.) (Lime)

Since the time he saved the priestess Chiya in Lorel Union with hero Hibiki, Lime has been moving together with them.

At first, it was obviously for the sake of gathering information by the order of his superior, Tomoe.

And yet, for some reason, Lime had meshed in with their party, and currently, he has ended up accompanying hero Hibiki because he was asked formally to a mission.

It is an infamous forest, but there were no signs of demonic beasts or beasts coming close to him who was smoking tobacco.

The creatures that live in this forest have recognized that this man that looks defenseless while smoking a tobacco, is actually a strong one.

And so, the natural instincts of the beasts are providing him with safety.

(…Frankly speaking, it is comfortable. As if I am with comrades I have been adventuring together for several decades.) (Lime)

There was a reason why he felt like he is together with comrades he has been along with for a long time.

It isn’t to the point of decades, but in the past, Hibiki’s party had one swordswoman.

A woman by the name of Naval.

Lime knew this from the information he had.

And the fact that he is in the spot she should be.

It is also the reason why at times it felt like he had a set place for him when in battle.

Not only that, Lime actually knew the woman named Naval in more detail than Hibiki herself.

(To think that that Naval was a companion of the hero. She was in Tsige for a temporal time, but… the Vengeance Oni has become quite a kind one. To die for the sake of her comrades is a way of dying that she definitely wouldn’t have done in the past. Well, I can’t talk about others though.) (Lime)

The Naval that Lime knows was an embodiment of revenge that pointed its fangs of hatred towards the demon race.

It is not only once or twice that he has seen people bleach with the blood of the demons.

Their power and gold is all used for the sake of killing as many demons as possible.

That’s the kind of woman she was.

But the Naval that Hibiki and Chiya tell him about, were all stories of a charming woman with hyuman kindness.

Thinking that Naval was changed by Hibiki, Lime thought that maybe Naval was happier than in the time he knew her.

He felt something similar to gratitude towards Hibiki.

(You didn’t die in loneliness and with a maddened smile. That’s great. Moreover, that dancing blade technique is still living within Hibiki.) (Lime)

He blows out a big smoke.

A thick smoke that looked as if it could take the whole head. And after he felt that he let out enough, he once again inhales heavily.

(Hibiki is truly a heroic existence. To the point that it is easy to see. That is also because she is purposely acting in that way, and it is also because the people wish that from her. Acting to become the vessel of hopes is not something that a person would be able to do with a normal spirit. I can tell why Boss sings praises of her.) (Lime)

In the time that Lime was keeping an eye on Hibiki, he noticed that she was putting on an image of a ‘hero’ as she acted.

At first, he thought that it was an action of deceiving the general public, but…

(She is doing exactly what’s wished for in a hero. What part of that is bad and who would suffer losses from it? She is quite the person.) (Lime)

It is certainly true that Hibiki is highly calculative.

To the point that at times, he rolled his tongue as he watched her.

But Hibiki wasn’t showing contempt or planning something.

Without denying the image that the populace holds of heroes, she instead accepted it and showed them actions that fit their wishes.

As a result, she has much more support, and people that don’t falter in cooperating with the country for the sake of Hibiki, are born.

And Hibiki will have a stronger authority within those people, obtaining the root of support.

No one is losing.

Lime doesn’t think of idealistic thoughts like ‘it is bad because she is deceiving’.

He is being affected by the charisma of Hibiki and it increases that view of his, but just like Makoto, Lime was starting to approve of Hibiki.

Also…

(I have been ignoring the calls of Sis Tomoe a few number of times already. I do think that something’s wrong with me, but…is there an option of following Hibiki like this? No, my life was changed by Boss and Sis Tomoe. To change jobs to Hibiki wouldn’t be cool.) (Lime)

Lime’s worries were that.

The tobacco ashes were falling to the ground three time faster than normal.

It was indicating the distress he was having at this moment.

It seems like Hibiki’s way of acting was something that made Lime want to see and continue seeing it from now on as well.

Lately, she has not been asking him to participate permanently in her party.

To take away an employee of Kuzunoha Company without permission is as expected, not something good, is what Hibiki said.

But if in that time Lime has a change of heart, she did say that she would really request it from them.

An invitation that’s not forced.

If it’s solved peacefully, it would be great, is what Lime said.

And so, Lime was wavering.

Because it was awkward, he was unable to make contact with the Kuzunoha Company, and at the same time, it signified that Lime was leaning towards Hibiki’s side.

(Hm? Hibiki huh. How unusual for her to come alone.) (Lime)

The face of Lime that was facing up and down, was now faced towards the side.

Because in that direction, he felt the presence of Hibiki.

“Even though I thought I had properly erased my presence. I can’t win against Lime.” (Hibiki)

“Anything you need?” (Lime)

“You said that you would be eating your meal separately, right? I do have to take care of our helper here after all.” (Hibiki)

With an accustomed smile, Hibiki gives Lime the plate she had.

When Lime’s gaze went to the plate, Hibiki took out the cloth that was on the plate as if she was in a play.

The scent of vegetables and meat spread to the surroundings.

“When the person herself says that she will take care of me… it is just…” (Lime)

“It is because it is Lime that there’s no need to decorate my words so much, so it makes it more comfortable. I told you before, right? If there’s no evil in it, then acting is not something bad.” (Hibiki)

“…I am an outsider though.” (Lime)

“But you are helping us. Even though there’s no need to cooperate with the request of Lorel Union. This is not necessary in the preliminary inspection of the company after all.” (Hibiki)

“…Is that steamed food? How? There’s no kitchen. I don’t know how you made it, but it is well made. I will take it.” (Lime)

“Ara, you are correct. Even if it’s steamed, it isn’t anything complicated. I also have some convenient cooking methods.” (Hibiki)

While giving the food to Lime, Hibiki begins explaining.

While being slightly grateful at Hibiki for understanding that he wanted to change the topic, he took the food.

“Delicious. Even if you stop being a hero, you would be fine. Today was made by Hibiki and Chiya, right?” (Lime)

“Thanks. That’s exactly right.” (Hibiki)

“The affinity between the vegetable and meat was well thought out, and there’s the seasoning as well. Even though you are a hero, you are able to do housework. That’s like undermining the whole women out there.” (Lime)

“It isn’t something that would trouble me for being able to do it. You as well, for someone that smokes tobacco, your sense of taste is pretty good. Isn’t that also undermining?” (Hibiki)

“Ah, you got me there.” (Lime)

After that, Lime gobbles up his food.

Hibiki didn’t hate the silence, and at times, she would make conversation as she stays there.

“Thanks for the food.” (Lime)

“Eating all the food makes me feel good. It was worth making it and bringing it here.” (Hibiki)

“And? You didn’t come here just because you were in the mood, right?” (Lime)

“It is true that I came to conquer your stomach, you know?” (Hibiki)

“Those kind of things, do them for brother Bredda. At my place, there are many people that like cooking, like Sis Mio. Something of this level won’t conquer me.” (Lime)

“Too bad. It is about tomorrow.” (Hibiki)

“The purple cloud huh. It seems like it is withering the forest and approaching at quite the fast pace.” (Lime)

Matching the change of mood from Hibiki, Lime also responds seriously.

“Yeah. It possesses strong toxicity, without doubt. It isn’t on a lukewarm level like acidic rain. The fact that there’s few living beings escaping, it should be safe to say that there’s something even more dangerous.” (Hibiki)

“Something that’s making the animals late to run, huh. This is big.” (Lime)

“The only ones in our group that can deploy wind to our surroundings while fighting are Wudi and I. Thinking about the danger of the cloud, we have no choice but to place Chiya-chan and Bredda as backup.” (Hibiki)

“It was an emergency, so everyone came after all. But I am able to fight while deploying wind, you know?” (Lime)

“…If you weren’t part of it, I wouldn’t be here in the first place.” (Hibiki)

“I see. In other words, you are asking me to join in the attacking role.” (Lime)

“Yeah, please.” (Hibiki)

“How straight.” (Lime)

“…”

It was different from how he felt with Makoto. Lime felt a sensation as if wanting to stretch out his hand.

And from that, the answer was already decided.

If it turns bad, they can just retreat; is what Lime delineated as he nods.

“Understood, I will help you. Seriously, just how much I have lend Hibiki already. You are properly remembering it, right?” (Lime)

“You are really a big help.” (Hibiki)

With a wide smile, Hibiki expresses her gratitude to Lime.

She nods once and continued her words.

“If I am to your liking, how about I marry you and return this debt for the rest of my life?” (Hibiki)

“What an ill mannered joke. I don’t want to be the man of a hero, what a pain.” (Lime)

“Instantly rejected?!” (Hibiki)

“I like all women, but I have never wished for marriage even once.” (Lime)

“…You will be stabbed in time, seriously.” (Hibiki)

“I am already tired of hearing that warning.” (Lime)

“Aah, I have been rejected. I am bad at giving up, so I will be tackling it again some other time, okay?” (Hibiki)

“You won’t go down huh, as expected of a hero.” (Lime)

“Well then, I am counting on you tomorrow.” (Hibiki)

“Leave it to me.” (Lime)

Hibiki returns.

With just those words said, Lime stayed in place.

(Boss…)

The night was still long.

Lime was troubled once again.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

Range.

That’s probably the biggest weakness the hero Hibiki holds.

The fighting power of Hibiki increases every day.

But in regards to long-ranged attacks, it always ends up weaker than those of close combat ones.

This time’s opponent is a cloud.

It is high in the sky.

If you want to attack it, it is obvious that there’s the need of a method to have your attack reach it, or a way to reach all the way there.

For Hibiki, her only option was the latter.

And the magician Wudi and Lime who were accompanying her, will approach as much as possible to the cloud, and while avoiding the poison that is being poured down along with a wind akin to a storm, and the colored rain that would definitely produce damage to the body if made contact with.

They were releasing the attacks that they have thought of and trying to disperse the cloud.

The actual attackers are Wudi and Hibiki.

Lime was acting as a support.

As long as their opponent is a giant cloud and they are unable to get close to it, it was natural that it would come to this.

Hibiki was currently in the sky.

“This was my trump card though. So even perforating it isn’t showing any effects huh. What should we do? No other choice but to get…closer?” (Hibiki)

Hibiki’s tone still had leeway in it, but her expression was quite stiff.

“You can’t joke around. We can’t get closer than this. In the first place, to change your sword pressure in such a way and send it flying is already at plenty of a monstrous level. You can be proud of it.” (Lime)

Lime returns a honest opinion to Hibiki.

What Hibiki thought of for a long distance attack, was using the sword pressure as a bullet, an out of norms technique.

But she was able to do that.

She was finally able to do it by borrowing the power of the sacred treasure.

And to release it in full power, there’s also the need for the support of Lime, but she will probably be able to achieve it alone in time.

Her abnormal ideas and her growth that makes it possible.

Lime was looking at Hibiki, and has personally felt the reason why Makoto praised her, but even so, this time’s trump card was a surprise for him.

“If it’s about attack power in one point, you are higher than me, aren’t you? Seriously, to think that I would be slapped in the butt to aim for higher heights at this age. Being a member of a hero party is not gentle sometimes.” (Wudi)

Wudi mixes a sigh as he laughs.

He also hasn’t been able to produce an effective attack against the cloud.

Frankly speaking, they were at a stalemate.

“This looks like…it will be impossible. Let’s return once and make a plan. That’s the best option we can choose right now.” (Lime)

“…If we return, there will be several damages incurred. Definitely.” (Hibiki)

“People can be evacuated. Villages can be made again. Well, in a different place, that is.” (Lime)

“Wudi, is there a way?” (Hibiki)

While Hibiki and Wudi were doing thought transmission with the members on the ground and making a plan to break through this, Lime had one idea.

(If I contact Sis, it will probably work out somehow. This cloud is probably something from the wasteland. Looking at the direction it came from, there’s no doubt. Sis and Boss might know something about it.) (Lime)

But he thinks, that for someone like him that has been attracted by Hibiki and neglected his contacts a number of times, it would be asking for too much.

His pride has already been completely destroyed by Makoto and the others, but he still hesitated.

The reason he wants to be helped is for personal reasons, and there’s also the feeling of wanting to help the hero mixed in it as well.

(No, there’s no time to be hesitating. This is the last. In terms of time, it is already about time I have to return anyways. If this will save a number of people and children from the villages, there’s no need to hesitate. It will result in helping Hibiki. It is just because of that.) (Lime)

Lime hesitated and hesitated, and then, he decided.

He sends a thought transmission to his superior, Tomoe.

Tomoe soon responded.

(Sis, it is Lime.) (Lime)

(…It’s been a while. Is that side comfortable?) (Tomoe)

The words of Tomoe were as if she had seen through him.

(…I am sorry. I…to the hero…) (Lime)

Lime soon gave up the idea of smoothing it over, and told everything to Tomoe.

(No, I don’t mind. I have done something slightly ill-mannered. Sorry for that. Even so, you contacted us. That’s fine. What’s your situation?) (Tomoe)

But Tomoe controls this and urges him for an explanation.

(RIght now there’s a purple cloud that is causing damage to the Lorel Union. From my guess, it is probably something that came from the wasteland.) (Lime)

(It is close to it-ja na. There’s no mistake in that guess.) (Tomoe)

(And so, I was wondering if you have any sort of plan to take care of it.) (Lime)

(…Fuh~, you have really been taken in-ja na.) (Tomoe)

(Sis, the number one essence of Hibiki is coexistence and mutual prosperity. I think that she would be able to get along well with Boss and us.) (Lime)

(That’s only if she doesn’t throw away that number one essence of hers, that is.) (Tomoe)

(Eh? (Lime)

(This is only an assumption, but if Hibiki’s way of thinking reverses, she can also become the existence that would hurt Waka the most. You do know the way to deal with people that hurt Waka…right?) (Tomoe)

(…So caution is necessary no matter what huh.) (Lime)

(Is how I think. I haven’t told this to Waka. You are the only one I have told this-ja zo? The only thing I told Waka was to be careful of the politician after all.) (Tomoe)

(…)

Lime was troubled by how to answer.

Hibiki and Makoto can help each other out.

Even though he proposed this, Tomoe was looking at a further future from that.

‘Then what can I say?’, he was at a loss of words.

(Also, Lime, you still don’t understand that our master is Waka.) (Tomoe)

(Hah?)

(I will show you a performance with that cloud. Don’t move from there. And don’t let anyone else move.) (Tomoe)

Tomoe cuts off the thought transmission.

“Hibiki, Wudi.” (Lime)

Lime simply felt that something was going to happen, and calls for the two that were with him.

“What?” (Hibiki)

“Is something the matter?” (Wudi)

“Don’t move from here. Also, tell the two below the same thing, please.” (Lime)

While saying this, he uses his perception at his surroundings with all his power.

There was something that…caught his attention.

(A gate has opened! The ones that came out are…winged-kin? Two of them.) (Lime)

Lime felt that an Asora gate opened at the very edge of his perception range.

It wasn’t a coincidence.

It was certain that Tomoe did this on purpose so that he would be able to feel it.

People that have white wings and black wings went high up into the sky.

Winged-kin.

Residents of Asora.

They are at a position that’s a lot higher than Hibiki and Lime.

They are higher than the purple cloud.

The winged-kin were going up.

(What? What’s going to happen?) (Lime)

“Lime, did you think of a way? Can you tell us, please?” (Hibiki)

“I have…played the card already.” (Lime)

“Eh?” (Hibiki)

“That’s why, don’t move. Don’t do anything and just watch, please. If you wish for the best, that is.” (Lime)

Lime himself doesn’t know what’s going to happen.

That’s why, there was practically nothing he could say.

This time, the winged-kin stopped close to the end of where Lime was able to perceive.

(If I remember correctly…the black winged-kin are able to link information with another person, but…with who?) (Lime)

The altitude that the black winged-kin can fly is lower than that of white winged ones.

That’s why they are holding each other in that way, is what Lime could tell.

In other words, the one that’s necessary is the black winged one.

Noticing the special trait of them, Lime tried to infer what was happening, but…the answer soon came out.

“!!! What?!”

“No good, we won’t make it in time for defense!!”

It was a bit faster than the words of Hibiki and Wudi, but well, there was no meaning in the difference in speed though.

From far in the distance, a thick heavy thread of light was aimed at the purple cloud, and Hibiki’s group.

(Does that mean I am already not needed? Sis?) (Lime)

With a feeling emptiness, Lime thought this.

But that was only because Lime still didn’t understand him, his master.

The words of Tomoe were correct in a variety of meanings.

(Boss…Well, if I am to be killed by Boss… in the first place, this life was picked up by him. He is a person that would make a person like me believe that he will be able to pull it off even if I am not around anymore.) (Lime)

Lime uprightly accepted his death, and then, he closes his eyes.

He can’t tell where that attack was shot from.

But Lime was able to understand that the one that the winged-kin was linked with was Makoto.

In other words, this is an attack from Makoto.

The light drew near until it was at the very eyes of Hibiki’s group.

In an instant, it spread into several threads and skilfully passed by them, and the fine threads of light pierced the purple cloud.

“…”

There were no words.

Not from Hibiki, Wudi, or Lime.

And from that group, Lime’s silence held a different meaning.

(Ah…seriously.) (Lime)

The cloud that was forcefully cut into a thousand pieces, began to scatter.

If he had to compare Hibiki and Makoto, Hibiki would be higher, only if he were to take out one point.

And that hasn’t changed at all, even now.

But the meaning of that one point, he probably underestimated it, is what he thought.

No, he noticed that he had forgotten about it.

(This power, this power that is able to hold down anything no questions asked; I was shown this. Right, I…want to see the destination of Boss that is even able to own the land of Asora.) (Lime)

Lime still holds good will towards Hibiki.

But he vividly remembered the memories he had in Tsige.

(…To drop in the middle of it would be a waste. I am a member of Kuzunoha Company, Lime Latte.) (Lime)

“Now then, let’s return. We are done now, after all.” (Lime)

Looking at the blue sky that didn’t have a single sign of the purple cloud, Lime spoke to Hibiki and Wudi who are still in silence.

The surroundings still had the remnants of Makoto’s magic power.

Making a spell of that level, Makoto was able to accomplish a stunt like leaving the three unscathed when they were in the area.

Lime was proud of it, shocked, and had a strange smile.

“…Is this Lime’s trump card?” (Hibiki)

With a slightly trembling voice, Hibiki finally opened her mouth.

“…Yeah. Of course, there’s no problem in taking the all the credit like the time in the temple.” (Lime)

“You won’t tell us what you did?” (Hibiki)

“I don’t know.” (Lime)

“Eh?” (Hibiki)

“I don’t know. I just consulted. To a person that might have known of that cloud, and if that person had some sort of plan.” (Lime)

With a refreshed face as if an evil spirit had left his shoulders, Lime answers Hibiki.

“What in the world…” (Wudi)

“Seriously. It is shocking right? I can only laugh at it.” (Lime)

Those were words that were said as if affirming the Wudi.

“Kuzunoha Company…” (Hibiki)

Hibiki probably already inferred a certain amount of truth.

But right now, she limited herself to only muttering these words.

To avoid saying anything imprudent and have Lime hear it.

She could also tell the change of heart in Lime instinctively.

“I have to return soon. I have a mountain of work over there.” (Lime)

“I see… It was fun, but too bad. When Raidou-dono comes to Limia, I would like you to come as well. It would be sad if this were the end after all.” (Hibiki)

“If Boss asks me to, I will. I also had fun, Hibiki.” (Lime)

After that, they returned to the ground, and regrouped with Chiya and Bredda.

The hero that was requested by Lorel Union, was able to splendidly defeat the purple cloud and save the people of Lorel.

The reputation of Hibiki has increased once again.

It’s a result that can be considered a success.

But a bit before regrouping, Hibiki bit her lips.

Strong.

(Lime… I…) (Hibiki)

The first person that Hibiki wished for the most, had slipped from her hands.

She understood this.

And Hibiki was trying not to show her emotions in her face, but this time she was unable to.

She was mortified, and those feelings welled up to her throat.

That she didn’t say anything was maybe because of her obstinacy.

Whatever the case may be, the assistance of Lime and the competition with Makoto, had ended in the victory of Makoto without his knowledge.

0 thoughts on “Chapter 198: Gossip – Hibiki and Lime

    1. lol did you overslept bro ? or you been to terrified of getting observed by satou like those other-god faction from the newest chapter that almost peeing themselves after sensing satou presence 😛

  1. Is Hibiki only want to kill demons and don’t try to make peace because Lorel ask her to do? (-__-)
And are you sure she use her charme on Lime with underline intention? Or maybe she fall in love (ok i just hope a little that she is not a total bitch xD)

  2. Well after burning of my butt from comments I want say few things:

About her charisma I explain my opinion above in one reply

you say you hate vanilla but then why you like it so much you call Hibiki bitch but stop looking through pink glasses, she is a hero a lot of people belief in her and she take responsibility of protecting them so I ask why you so cold towards her in which way she did something very scheme that she worser then demons which do a lot more worser things.

like leader she is same as Zef who is follow demon race will, they are have a lot of similarities, they both want protect their kind both follow opinion of their kind both work to maximum for their kind, if you that Zef is somewhat better I remind you that he can abandon a part of his kind for survive of bigger part. And I mention he try give prosperity to demons and BLOODY REVENGE TO HYMANS which mean not just killing all royalties and destroying all countries but full genocide of humanity which probably race with biggest population in world.

and why it cannot be in love with Lime she is a living creature after all she can fall in love

So read more carefully and have less prejudice opinion

    1. well, just one argument can explain:
-she is an otherworlder so nothing to do with “their kind” like you said ^^
(and yes she can fall in love, but i think it was more a bit because Lime have power and he left)
and you need to add the fact that Zef want how you say a REVENGE, hyumans did a genocide toward demons.
So for me she is a bitch because as an otherworlder she think that hyumans are the good and demons the evil, it’s a onesided point of view. If only she try to look at the demons kind and try to make peace between them, but no she try to exterminate them. (as an otherworlder i think it’s stupid)

ps:sorry for my english hope you can understand 🙂

      1. Well technically you half right half wrong about race, they modified humans so it under question but their appearance have same as humans probably most people will dont mind about their origin

but you not right about point of view. In one of chapters after speak with makoto or during speak don’t remember exactly she said that probably all conflict start due huymans attitude towards demi humans.

And after spending some time in war she understands one thing this conflict cannot end peacefully due how long this conflict goes and how much grudge on each side. She just understand no one will listen her if she start speak about peace, and her charisma cannot help in this because it dont affect minds and only create huge opposition towards her

      2. so the solution she choose is to destroy demons kind for the sake the hyuman kind?
that’s what i call a bitch, she don’t even try, and if she cannot make peace between the two races, then just stop involve in the conflict, she has no debt toward them.

      3. And about Lime do you remember how fast she gave up recruitment of mio in Tsige and she probably understand that Mio much stronger then Lime, then why she react so hard for Lime leaving? I nderstand it like she understand that she cannot be with him because they are in different fractions, he is from kuzunoha company which possess a lot of secrets and she is hero who lead humanity. Well this part is just my opinion

and I try show people how prejudice they are for example how you think how opinion will improve about her if she was not sent by goddess. And she is not such terrible manipulator as people speak about her, for example Rona who manipilated by students in Rostgard througu their desires or princess of gritonia(forgot nsme) who manipulate tomoki through his desires and want destroy all world and make everyone tomoki puppets.

I think people hate her to much without any good reason only because she is not on same side with MC

      4. Well she is not argue with goddess during their chat so she accepted duty of hero and will defend humanity it is what hero must do , very similar to demon lord.

and what she must choose between stay aside and watch how milions of men, women, old, young, and children are die, tortured, raped and demons will try kill her with great pleasure or she can protect them(remember spiderman)

in this conflict is dont contain any good or bad side so dont think demons will end this war peacfully same goes for humans and I think why people so negative towards Hibiki while I said she is same as Zef

      5. well as i said before, I think as an otherworlder she as not to involve this much in this war and choose a side because the godess told her to do. I always dislike the character who come from an otherworld and say “i will help no problem” and THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS WORLD WORK. it’s the same for Hibiki here, she choose a side because the godess told her to do, she don’t try to make peace and she can, look at Sari, she want to take her revenge not with a war.
I think for an otherworlder Hibiki is used and use other, i think she is rather stupid to just involve in a war she as nothing to do with

      6. Sari said that she want end war by showing their superiority but she also said most of demons want do it bloody so as long as most want do it that way peace is impossible even for Makoto due lack of subordinates

well why she is agree help? because maybe in start she is think about this like novel but with time it start work same way with from other time line she create friendship, she saw bad side of demons and she start help humans(for better understanding read all my comments) demons dont try be friendly with her and so with makoto logic, hyumans friend, demons enemy

      7. yeah, so that exactly how i say, she have only one point of view. she is stupid, she don’t try to have much knowledge and help a side juste because “they are the evil, we are the good”. So she is a bitch 😀

        1. You have to understand that she is in a foreign world, the closest thing that she can relate to are hymans, then is the fact that the hole reason for her to be there is basically to help them win, she makes friend on that side, she figth toguether with that side, she form bonds and relationship with that side, and know that she has the hole picture of the war there is only one side that she can support.

      8. I ask you again how she even can understand other side just give me one reasonable answer demons think she is goddess servant they don’t even will listen her for them and you want she goes to them said hi let become friends and you can you as much as you want and I don’t will mind about how you hate each other

      9. “she is an otherworlder so nothing to do with “their kind” like you said”
why would i help arabs fighting against ISIS? they aren’t my kins
why would I help people from neightboor country? they aren’t my kins
why would I help people from neightboor town? they aren’t my kins
why would I help people from neightboors? they aren’t my kins
that’s as (slightly) selfish way of thinking that you will always be able to reduce the scope to protect yourself.

Under our very peaceful way of thinking, invaders are considered evil, making the demons (currently invaders) evils.

Zef want revenge, ok is it ok for me to go slaugther some britishs because of a war that happened centuries ago? no, that’s evil too.

She already know a peace won’t happen, and Lo said it: it’s a race war, demon are on the verge of extinction, it’s do or die, only one race will survive.

you are the one with a one sided pov, considering all hyumans and anyone siding with them as evil.

what would you think of her if she betray her oath, friends and new home to side with the demon and slaughter hyumans? wouldn’t it be a trash move?

“and if she cannot make peace between the two races, then just stop involve in the conflict”
Yeah, don’t even try to help people if you can’t reach the perfect and idealistic result! just let them die like dog because of you pride of ‘not wanting to dirty your hand with imperfect result’. your way of thinking isn’t of a hero but an arrogant and coward.

    2. Zef is that worlds native that after being cornered with the hrst life the demons get retaliates and because he is the lord thAt is moving as his peoples will. On the other hand we got hibiki who is an otherworlder that dont even know what really hAppen and just decided that what she doin what she thinking and what she is planning to do After the war is the right thing to do just because she think all she do is right. Its like she says “im on this side so the other side was the wrong/evil ones.

      1. Like I said above Zef dont intend end war and like ruler he have one minus he is dont have his opinion if you wonder why it bad watch anime gatchaman crowds insight where prime minister of japan was alien which make choice with people vote. and they dont intend to end war peacfully like sari mention they want end it by bloody way, destruction way and it can be seen through destruction way

      2. Well in she had this way of thinking due lack of knowledge and people which surround her will show only bad points of demons and in second chapter of her pov was shown how she determined in this after few battles later after battle at capital start better understanding reasons of war but it was little bit late because she lost her friend(answer on forward can you come to killer of your friend and say hey let become friends) (reminder no one was near her when she came no one can show good side of demons)

      3. why people bashing hibiki too much? while it’s true she acting and manipulating people..it’s still with the hope to winning the war against demon and stabilize the nation post-war,unlike tomoki she properly cared for her teammate and grieve when naval died. To gather powerful teammate is it really bad? at least she want lime based on personality, connection and his skill…if she really just want power…she already whore herself to tomoki you know~

about the situation of war CMIIW i think the one who attacking first was the demon…no matter if the reason is justified or not…and you can’t just saying let there be peace and whatever crap~ unless you have power like makoto to keep check by power or migrating the demon race to asora and as we know makoto choose to remain neutral while hibiki choose to defend hyuman and trashmoki choose his d*ck.

about the goddess, hibiki conclude that hyuman can’t survive without the b*tch goddess(unless there’s another GOD taking place)..you know..it’s true, in exxchange for appearance the spec of hyuman was worse even compared to human…even with 4x blessing of goddess hyuman just barely hold against demons…and that world physic was laughable..(person with high level can wound a dragon with iron sword but a low level person throw a huge boulder it’s useless, i forgot which chapter when makoto exxplain it) so gun was useless, it means killing the goddess almost meaning the extinction of hyuman race(fufufu~what a gag)

    3. Harold thank you , you are here and have nearly same opinion

Well war probably start demons due lack of provision

And even Makoto cannot end war because like I said each side have grudges and sari said demons want Hyman she blood so even if Makoto will conquer every country grudges will not disappear and they continue fight beacause Makoto don’t have enough people to control everything
Hibiki cannot end war because she cannot contact another side and she don’t know way for stop hatred each side

Only tomoki can end war but it will be second worst choice(worst choice Makoto destroy everything)

And about hyuman potential, they can be strong without goddess for example Makoto students but they live too long under goddess protection and they need time for adopt to relate only their own strength

  3. Thanks as always for the prompt release and interesting chapter. Well this one was an interesting chapter, I hope this one helped understand why Makoto has Hibiki in such a regard, because if even Lime who is older and has more life expierence, who actually know both Makoto and Hibiki got swayed well is normal for Makoto to somehow lower his guard against her. Well if Hibiki is as bad at giving up as she claim well unless she screw it up big time I wouldn’t sink the HibikixLime ship just yet. By the way I totally expect for Tomoe to have some kind of punishment to Lime for insubordination ( insert evil laugh).

    1. Remember that Bug gave Hibiki an abnormal boost to her own charm. It’s the same power that Tomoki has but focus on a different effect,Tomoki creates slaves without will and Hibiki bends people to her whims. Her power is not immediate like Tomoki’s but is more dangerous because she is creating an army of fanatics.

      1. Yes but the high standing that Makoto has for her doesn’t steam from their interaction in that world but from their interaction in Japan, he is not devoted to her for him she is just a highly capable senpai. Since she hasn’t provoked him he doesn’t see the need to revalute her for the time bein. Probably in the future since migth go south or improve. Now if he is afected from the charisma in the magic sense I don’t think thats posible but only the author can truly say.

      2. But if it work like you then why it don’t affect everyone for example she is mention during siege of capital nobles don’t agree with her ideas of moving capital which mean that power don’t make fanatics like you said or if it true she already did all her ideas about improving countries

        1. Well I will admitt that I didn’t see the charisma in this chapter as an abilty, it feels more like Lime admired Hibiki capacity to grasp and behave perfectly her role as a Heroe because thats whats expected of her not been herself but more the way that people believes perfect heroe behave. But if he is under any spell similar to charming then yes that will be his allucination of the hole situation with out been true.

      3. I understand this monologue like fight of his two feelings , love towards Hibiki, and debt to Makoto as picking him and wanting see path of this man,
If it really works that why he save his loyalty towards Makoto and why it was dispelled by simple demonstration of Makoto magic, it doesn’t make sense in your theory

      4. I think this was explained before but Hibiki’s charm works a LOT slower than Tomoki’s. Those nobles can oppose her because they are hardly in contact with her (that’s why she was brainwashing young nobles), so she can only use people that she sees frequently and the image of a hero does this part with the populace.

      5. it was not explained, it was only mentioned by demons that she gather people and they follow her ideas.
range and time for admitting very differ for a lot of people of different strength

and this power was not explain properly by anyone. i think that even Hibiki don’t understand how it work and it difficult to tell where is her natural charisma where is power goddess

      6. Her charm it’s not explained but heavily hinted (in a few chapters including the dreams) to work that way and Lime was able to leave Hibiki because her charm was still shallow.
People under Tomoki’s charm are nothing more than mindless slaves but people under Hibiki’s charisma are fanatics, she should be aware of that power because Bug explained everything to her.

      7. i ask again can you say for sure that is power of charm given her by goddess but not her own charisma. and not in single of line of her mind she don’t remember about this power and here line “charisma to attract other” it don’t saying anything about brainwashing, she attract them and they like her ideas they will follow her like it was with Ilumingad (don’t remmber name exactly ) he like her ideas and start follow her and same with nobles they don’t like her idea which is why it not work on them and i think they meet more often then you think probably in palace and argue with each other so if her charm work this way why they not brainwash and in story we see only one guy which can be called fanatic and if predict in your way that it brainwash people and she have personality which you think she has, why she not try brainwash this nobles because with her position she can argue them for long time and it must not take much on such weak guys it can maybe take 1 hour per day for week and why she don’t try brainwash Makoto Mio and Tomoe or other staff of kuzunoha company at Tsige

      8. “The Goddess enhanced her physical strength and gave her strong magic power, on top of that she gave her the charisma to attract other people and conferred her a sacred treasure.” Chapter 30.
Her charm was never explained just hinted so I’m just making the best conjecture I can but a “dream” Makoto said clearly that Hibiki and Tomoki are about the same and that both charm blessing brought corrupted them or killed them I don’t remember the exact words.

      9. Well it argument about parallel worlds but at same time it cannot be said it prove of anything because we don’t every changes which happen in such worlds we don’t know how they differ and maybe in such worlds try improve her ability which was given her by goddess (please don’t answer I will not reply on this topic anymore, I am tired of it)

      10. Hibiki charm boost only increased charisma and charisma doesn’t effect everyone the same way. People that are dead set against her idea will not be swayed. It would only pull people that are already leaning towards her or neutral. And yes, those under her influence can become fanatics.

  4. I don’t like this bitch. Not one bit. She’s as bad as Trashmoki or the Bug. I don’t care/know if she did it purposely or not, but she basically charmed her way through Lime’s mind. He said it himself, that he FORGOT about Makoto’s true power, and Asora. The heroes are dangerous, and should be eliminated.

    1. Tomoki has openly threatened Kuzunoha. He’s an enemy, and will be dealt with appropriately if he ignores the warning/lesson he’s already received. He will ignore it, of course. Even after Waka has shown mercy. Hibiki hasn’t actually threatened Kuzunoha, yet. There’s still a chance she won’t take action against Makoto, so there’s no need to remove her from the board just yet.

      1. I’ll have to disagree with the notion that Hibiki won’t do anything.

As it stands, Kuzunoha is too important(and not considered overwhelmingly powerful enough) to leave alone for someone with plans like hers. At this point, Hibiki is only leaving it alone because she’s busy. It’s made it on to her “to do list” a long time ago.

  5. chapter summary

lime: sis-tomoe, nowadays i feel, i’ve lost my faith, there’s this sparkling bikini girl and i feel want to worship her

tomoe: lime…you already forget who’s our GOD ja~?

    *makoto arrow

    BAM* BAM*

tomoe: lime, choose your GOD now ja-na~

lime: ohh~ how sinful i am!, to forgot this miracle! forgive me!

tomoe: hmm~ hmm~ it’s okay ja-na~ cause our GOD is merciful

      1. is persuading people with shooting a missile in front of him isn’t a form of dictatorship? even lime feel that he will just be erased for deemed unworthy

  6. hibiki got rekt! lime should report about hibiki’s charisma. it makes people comfortable when they are with her, like when makoto and hibiki talked. makoto was totally offguard i think it was because of her charisma. well all i can say is. this girl is very manipulative now i understand why tomoe and mio are cautious about her.

    1. “nods” yep i think that is the right way of looking at this for as shown in the tales of berseria game not all hero’s will save the world and being a ‘demon lord’ do’s not mean your evil also.

    2. Actually, you know what I’m curious about?

If someone used Tomoe’s mist to look through the memories of someone taken in by Hibiki, could the charisma affect them through the memory?

  7. Imagine all the hatred of the makoto by the bug turn love, there is that old saying that all hatred turns for love ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

  8. Thanks for the Chapter~!!!
i don’t really care much for either of the heroes i still think that hibiki is slightly better than the other trash, just that you have to be more cautious of her. but all in all i think that the demons are better than the heroes, they may have that one manipulative demon (i don’t remember how to spell her name) but they stopped trying to take from makato and the only reason that demon is manipulative is because she wants to help the person that she loves and that is the only way she can where the heroes well they just want to help themselves.
    Thanks again for the Chapter~!!!

  9. thanks for the chapter!

mio was obviously stronger, but she wished the most for lime
is it a proof of her having certain feelings for lime, or a proof of her growing more greedy after the “faith blessing” she receved?
or maybe that’s just because he is the one who can fill the hole left by naval in hibiki’s party?

  10. Like the last scene! — “Requesting support. Roll in strike package Waka. Kill Box One Alpha. Danger Close Fire Mission! Friendlies in the area”

    Thanks for the translation!

    1. It wouldn’t matter if the friendlies were standing right beside the targets, there isn’t the slightest chance of friendly fire when strike package WAKA is implemented.

  11. tbh i really didnt mind it if lime actually goes with hibiki.

my first reason is that he’s just a lackey. it’ll makes no difference for the corps even if he’s there or not.

i mean, its lime. a mere lime. even baren holds more value than him in my eyes -_-

  12. Thanks for the chapter ^^ Wow, my opinion of Hibiki just dropped drastically. She pulls people in to her favour and makes use of them, in a way so natural they think they did it by themselves. And I don’t even know whether she’s ‘good’ or ‘evil’, which is the scariest part.

  13. Thanks for the chapter kai-senpai !!!
I do not know if I read this chapter seeing a dispute for a man I felt a strange ahaha, finally makoto still has much potential to burn compared to hibiki who already wished to be able and even with the blessing of the bug can not match our waka-sama, I still want to see the despair in Hibiki when it comes to seeing the Makoto overpower.

    1. My favorite parts are seeing the reactions of those who witness Makoto’s power firsthand. There’s a profound reaction when someone witnesses a god in action. Seeing these people see Makoto when he exercises his absolute power, and how they come to terms with it is fascinating.

  14. I am curious why all call her total bitch, she didn’t do anything bad or don’t try manipulate anyone like you write. All this create impression you speak about gritonia princess

      1. when she tried manipulate people? and she don’t try do something bad she is have big responsibility like a hero protecting humanity and in Limia she is one with biggest military power and like a person with big politician power she need sometimes play dirty it very common in this world.

  15. I’m guessing that the goddess is Aphodite or Venus… or some other god of love… both heroes have strong charm power… Trashmoki tried to charm Tomoe and Hibiki tried to charm Lime…

Makoto’s dream now makes sense.. trying to steal belongings of others…

  16. I just can’t get over the cool scene where Lime just informs them that he has already played his card.

I keep thinking how it all looked like from Hibiki’s and Wudi’s point of view. Or how it would look like in an Anime.

At this point I’m starting to wonder if Lime’s special ability is to make everything he does seem to have that special something about it.

Also, Makoto should totally shoot that arrow straight up, and have it come back down on the target directly from above it. Then he should call that move the Ion Cannon.

  17. seems like the queued sponsored chapter increases every time Reigo-san release one lol ^ω^. thanks for the chapter!

  18. Cut poor Hibiki some slack…

From what I see, most of the hate towards Hibiki comes from the fact that she is a schemer who is NOT in Makoto’s team. Please consider that her caution towards Makoto stems from the fact that she virtually knows next to nothing about him. If she were to blindly trust in Makoto just because he’s her kouhai, then that would make her incredibly naive. Especially since the only other otherworlder she knows of is Tomoki, and we know what Tomoki is like, no?

    1. not only this strange, i don’t get it at all why she gain such big hatred because this novel contain characters with more bad personality and guys which more schemer then her, but everyone don’t bother about it

      1. Probably because people were getting hyped on the build up to their meeting, expecting her to be a love interest for Makoto and expecting them to bond and work together against the scumminess of Trashmoki. They were already seeing it in their heads, so the reality of her just manipulating him to pump him for info and then not bothering to worry about him personally so much as the threat his company might represent, felt like she had betrayed all our hopes. So people got pissy about her.
Looking at it now, the author never intended to have any of the summonees be friends and work together and meant for them to end up either rivals or antagonists, so anything else was just the reader’s delusions.

      2. @thediabolicalgenius Rather than antagonist or rivals, it seems to me like they’re more-firstly, satire of other hero types, and secondly, foils for Makoto.

Actually, even Zef can qualify as one in my opinion.

    2. She’s actually my favorite human character not affiliated with Makoto. Mostly because she’s deep, and has light and dark sides to her. I love the complex characters.

      1. She…probably isn’t quite so to me. She might be complex, but I somehow feel like we don’t know enough about the things that drive her. She’s motivated to fight the demons and unify the hyumans afterwards, martyr stuff. But that’s it, isn’t it? And her past on earth isn’t especially interesting either, since she was just perfect and bored.

People with more colorful pasts like Rembrant or, heck, Lily sort of have my attention more.

        1. I consider Rembrandt being in Makoto’s camp. If he had to choose, he wouldn’t hesitate to choose Makoto. Lily is a close second for most interesting people. Hibiki might have more of my attention because she appeared to be a stereotypical hero, and then it was revealed how complex she is.

    3. hahaha ditto, why a scum like tomoki was more preferrable than a schemer……leader can’t rise by just talking the truth and become a morally good person you know? at least that what i think.

And i see many people criticize hibiki motive…i say about hibiki motive..it’s true helping hyuman just because i’m bored with my wonderful life on earth was pathetic but i think even in the real world, at least at the start many people doing volunteer work or helping people with pathetic reason example like just because they’re bored or it give me self satisfaction or i want to look cool etc, the difference are they keep doing it? i think even if the reason was pathetic but if they keep helping people it’s still admirable.

here people bashing hibiki too much and i bet mostly people here too like to see lelouch hahaha not that hibiki stand on the same level though

  19. Thanks for the chapter Reigokai.

Hibiki is getting a lot of hate here. I can understand, though I don’t think she’s as bad as Trashmoki. He only does what he does to satisfy his own desires or ego. While Hibiki is taking being Limia’s hero seriously and is trying to make a better world (as she sees it), so she’ll use whatever she can believing it is for the greater good. Such as keeping Bredda and Chiya in the party, despite the fact that both are highly important to their countries and could throw them into chaos if they get killed. Since she believes her success will help the most people in the end, she’s willing to take the chance of losing the crown prince and causing a succession crisis, or the loss the Priestess of Lorel before the next is found, driving Lorel into despair. Though you can also say there’s a fair bit of ego there too, in thinking the greater good as she sees it can’t be wrong.

I’m a little disappointed that Lime wavered, but I guess her charisma is just that strong. She’s beautiful, charismatic and seems to be genuinely being the best hero she can from the bottom of her heart, so it’s understandable how a lot of people would be charmed by her. And didn’t the goddess give her divine protection that boosts her charisma too? It’s probably just that Lime is only huma-I mean hyuman. At least he came down on the right side in the end.

As for Makoto being naive and foolish for not seeing how she is, even after clues from the dreams and Tomoe’s warning, it might not be just that. At least I think there’s a bit more to it. Sure, part of it is the fact that he has the reassurance of his own OPness and the competance of his followers to compensate even if she does turn on him, but it could mainly be just that he wants to believe in her THAT much. We know that he didn’t want to leave his home and family and has been home sick and bearing the knowledge that he might never see his parents and sisters again. He needs some kind of mental support to keep himself from breaking down and stop caring about anything. Getting Asora and the people who joined him helped a lot with that, especially with how much it resembled Japan and how much effort everyone put into bringing Japanese things into his surrounding (food, clothing etc). But that’s still not close to the real thing. Compared to that, he’s known from the start that two real life fellow japanese people had also come to the same world and we know he’s was looking forward to meeting them and getting along with them. He mentioned them often in his thoughts, though the fact he never bothered to find out their names beforehand shows how thoughtless he is. But the idea that they would feel the same way as him and would be able to sympathise with him, might have been a big support to him. So he was probably truly happy when he met Hibiki and she immediately began a nostalgic talk about home, seeming to confirm that she really did miss home too. Plus he was someone he knew personally, which was even better since he could feel like home had come to him just for a little bit. After that though, he met Tomoki and was utterly disappointed, seeing nothing they could share or get along with over and even developing to the point he felt the need to teach him a lesson. But he could manage since he still had Sempai. Just knowing there was someone else in that world like him, might have been a big comfort to him. So the fact that it might not be true, that she only acted that way to lull him and get him to tell her whatever she wanted to hear, that she can’t be the ideal, admirable sempai he always looked up to if she truly accepted to leave her world for another when they was nothing forcing her, is probably a hard thing for him to accept.
He can see the signs, but he doesn’t want to accept them, so he’s putting it often. He may even know he’s doing it, but since it’s a matter of feelings he doesn’t want to force himself to accept it unless he has to.And Tomoe is shielding him, gently preparing him and letting him come to terms with it in his own time, because loyal as she is, she’s aware of the possibility of something like this breaking his heart and resulting in him turning out like he did in the dreams. He might be unexpectedly fragile when it comes to losing his friends or being betrayed by them and can break easily. Hence why all the dreams showed him in despair on a mission to kill the goddess. Not because it was choosing those alternate worlds deliberately, but because the chances of it happening were just that high. An if that happens it’ll be a disaster for the world, and can result in civilisation being ruined and the races being reduced to a fraction of their population, before the goddess gets off her butt and deigns to descend. Hence, Tomoe is babying him and letting him take his time accepting the truth. To avoid that nightmare.
Because to Makoto, whether Hibiki really is the person he thought she was, or if she really has betrayed his expectations is something that will effect him even more than that controntation with the merchant representative in Rotsgard.

    1. Damnit @thediabolicalgenius did you just entered my mind and posted the way I interpretate things, that was a great anlysis of their personalities. Great review really.

    2. Yeah, there’s a certain fragility to Makoto’s outlook, considering all the other dreams he’s had.

But, not really in disagreement to your point, is Makoto really teetering on an edge like that? He’s had incident after incident that attack his way of thinking, and while he seems to change a bit from each one, he also retains a certain softness to him(too much in the opinion of some readers it seems). He has to have some sort of stubbornness of character to reach that point, right?

In that case, why do all the other dreams present Makoto as, for all intents, broken? It seems to me like that’s more of a testament to how utterly screwed up this world is, where “if this had/hadn’t happened”, disaster would strike. The most important differences between the dreams and our timeline is the presence of Makoto’s followers and the circumstances of where the goddess dropped him.

      1. Sorry, I didn’t mean to talk as if he would fall to bits at the drop of the hat and I may have exaggerated a little. I meant that his view of Hibiki is important to him and if he loses the mental support of feeling they are the same, he’ll be hard hit. Sure, he won’t just fall apart because of it, since he’ll still have the mental support of his new family (pact members) and everyone in Asora. He’ll keep on going, but it would have a major effect on his character that might not be good. Though it might be avoided if he can slowly come to terms with it and brace himself to face her true character. But otherwise, it would change him at least as much as being told off by that guild representative, if not more.
So Tomoe is trying to shield him from something that may cause him to veer in a dark direction.

What I really meant was, Makoto is fragile in the sense that he’s easily damaged by people he opens his heart to. Either by something happening to them, or by betrayal. So Tomoe and likely Shiki too, are trying to protect him from that and stop him from closing his heart off. So he stays the kind of person who cares about his allies and can face the world in a positive way, instead of being distrustful and distancing himself from those close to him out of fear of being hurt.

I agree, it’d take something big to break him and drive him over the edge, and can’t see that happening as long as his 3 followers along with Asora and it’s denizens are there. Conversely if he loses them, it’ll be straight down from there.

        Is that better?

        1. Yeah, that’s pretty much the understanding I got from you clarified even more. I was just posing some more thoughts on the matter.

I think the word you’re looking for then, is “vulnerability”. Makoto can stay on guard to other people like the demons, country leaders, and even his students. But the people he opens up to tend to have a way of really getting to him. Example would be Toa being in danger due to her reminding him of his kohai for some reason.
If Hibiki, or Rembrant, or an Asoran betrayed him, it would certainly be a cause for strong changes in his outlook. That said, I’m not sure that’s entirely a bad thing that Tomoe and Shiki should be sheltering him from though. Granted, they aren’t going THAT far to protect him, but these all serve as “triggers”, as Root had put it, to Makoto’s growth.

          1. Growth is good of course. But when dealing with a walking doomsday device, a little caution is a good idea. It’s fine if he grows and becomes a stronger person as a result. But if he goes in a bad direction while having the ability to wipe entire cities off the map with a single shot, and ruin entire countries with just a little time and effort, it could be very dangerous.
I know that I’d handle him with care if I was in their place.

    3. Just one thing to mention, but Hibiki doesn’t know that Bredda is the crown prince–they go through great pains to keep that fact from her, which has been stated a couple of times.

      1. Go read chapter 154 again.

“The person himself is probably still in the thought that it hasn’t been revealed yet, but Hibiki is already aware that Bredda is the prince of this country.

It is originally something that can’t be hidden anyways, so it is obvious.

But she didn’t really make any allusions to it.

Bredda is a competent companion, and more importantly, because he is accompanying them, the discretion towards them increases.

She easily judged that there was no merit in pursuing the subject.”

Hence, she’s definitely making use of him while aware.

  20. I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
    Laughing in the purple rain

    Purple rain, purple rain
    Purple rain, purple rain
    Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
    Bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It’s such a shame our friendship had to end

    Purple rain, purple rain
    Purple rain, purple rain
    Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
    Underneath the purple rain

    Honey, I know, I know
    I know times are changing
It’s time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too

  21. ahh what a twisted web we weave. This story is absolutely great.
Here at last we see Hibiki learning continued disappointment. She loses out on makoto ( through her own ignorance. arrogance and deceit) then after coming to know Lime, she does everying she can to obtain him ( marriage, cooking!!! etc etc) and she fails. This is a continuing education that can most hopefully lead to a great growth in her character.

NB – I do hope that Lime does eventually “get the girl” – but in way that does not turn his back on makoto- but in a way that acts as the culmination of an education process that allows hibiki to learn and live well. – she could well become a partner that Lime deserves- in a good way!.

  22. after reading most of the coms, aren’t people too salty about hibiki?
I know her “magic charisma” is pretty shitty, and her way to manipul people like a politician make her sly, but going to the extrem some think “OMG she tried to recruit someone. what a bitch!”

isn’t it common sense for the hero to head-hunt to grow his military power in the war?

    1. Couldn’t agree more. Honestly, except for Tomoki and Bug, I like virtually every other character in this novel for one reason or another(yes, even manipulative bitch Lily). Between Zara, Saritz, Hibiki, Zef, Sari, Rona…Everyone is just doing their best to make the best of their rather difficult positions using what little information is available to them. Tomoe is just too good at information control to let anything useful leak out, so they never have any idea what the best course of action is.

Well, it’s not like Hibiki doesn’t have dislikable character traits though. People have already pointed out that she has a fundamental problem with how she thinks, but that’s unrelated to the specific actions this chapter. At worst it’s the sense of entitlement her feeling humiliated at Lime’s rejection implies.

        1. Well…let’s see…

For starters, her mentality. It’s already been stated with more detail in other comments, but Hibiki has a very spoiled, arrogant, and entitled mentality. That is, she sets herself on a pedestal and acts as the indisputable “Justice”. The biggest moral high ground other than “I’m a god so anything I do is to be worshiped.” It’s this mentality that causes her to plan to fight Kuzunoha, which doesn’t agree with her policies.

Secondly, during her summoning she was willing to abandon all of her life from the past world to be a Hero in this one for no reason other than “victory is boring some this might be a challenge for me”. It’s true she works hard for it, but victory is a given for her and that sort of snowballs with the first problem.

The third big complaint about Hibiki is her manipulative nature. She “plays hero” to gain popular support, which is why commentators are calling her “politician”.

I think these three points covers the reasons people seem to dislike her.

      1. I cannot call her manipulative because she doesn’t try do it often, and she don’t try play as a hero, she act like a hero, she is doing job as people see hero and she give all her in this job, protect humanity and improve this world how she think is right(it her point of view it not bad that way world become better)

Second it not bad point, she resist in the start but for her normal life was boring, she was excellent at everything and her seek for adventure and run from routine make her choice to agree, and what about victory given her, she is understand her strength she understand she is not strongest and she try her best for victory.

And last you cannot call her spoil because you must remember hor much she do for victory and compare it obstinacyI h tomoki who act like a spoil child.

And she never call herself justice she say that she protecting humanity and during her visit in Rostgard she say to Tomoe that problem start from discrimination, she is not arrogant, she stay her opinion what is better for hyumanity and it not bad. We never see that she want to be worship and about kuzunoha , they are unknown factor with great power so what they might do in unknown

    2. Even her ways doing things is not that bad she don’t try manipulate a lot in comparing to other rulers
Magic charisma, well we cannot say where is real and where magic way of working

    3. It’s the way she tried to gain him that is treacherous. She tried to gain him by manipulating him instead of asking him directly. For example, she started to ask little by little more of him (which is something that’s done even in reality and work. You start asking a little favor and grow it with time and the person can’t refuse), by giving him a sense of home (the food, also a disloyal recrutment technique), the false declaration of love (yep, it’s false, I don’t see anywhere that she loves him. She wants him, not loves him)

      1. Also, she see all that as just, good. She never takes the time to challenge herself about what she does. And it’s dangerous. Tomoki at least knows it’s wrong, but he simply doesn’t care about it.
All the others characters don’t take into account evil or good. They don’t put themselves under the pretense of justice, they do things for a motive but never think that they have the sole answer on how people should be. (The perfect example is the Demon Lord: he does everything for the demons but he accepts that it may not be the best way nor that is fair). She is purely a zealot, a fanatic.
For example: if Makoto replaces the Goddess, Tomoki will hate him because he will lose his privileges, and he will try to continue to fulfil his selfish desires; but Hibiki will deem Makoto as the Evil and will try to kill him (lol), create revolutions, chaos… because she will continue to thinks she is right.

      2. Well what I must start?

About love you cannot say it exactly for example for japanese novel it pretty common do bento for guy that they love and than how you explain last line of her thoughts? (Lime….I…).

well about calling her zealot it totally not true, she never show herself like that type of person she act like realist for example moving capital for better defence from demons and improving army, if she was zealot like you said , It was never was never shown that, she even understand understand that this war cannot win by just only power of goddess

and all this speech about zealot start from the chapter in her speech with Tomoe, it was only shown that she is just want to system which goddess don’t change but can she make world where people will not depend on goddess? no and she understands it and try her best in improving current situation for example she say she want improve habit of demi human.

      3. @dsahgf Why I don’t see love: she tries to manipulate him, the way she views him, … There is affection but no love. She want him but I don’t see her wanting to really marry him. Also about the zealot thing: from what I understood (I am not english), a zealot is a fanatic of his belief (it can be political). I know she is not a fanatic of the Bug and even disagree with some of her thought. But she views the goddess as good nonetheless. So, if somebody goes completely against the Bug, she will view him as evil. She will never admit that the Goddess is maybe the worst. So Hibiki is a zealot because she will never accept that she is wrong in her choices. I don’t say that all her choices are wrong (exemple moving the capital) but if one her choices is wrong, she will not admit it.

      4. “It’s the way she tried to gain him that is treacherous”
that’s why I said she is sly. but some are just salty that she tried to recrute someone “owned” by MC.
even if she sly, since she started to go in limia’s intern politic (mentioned she wanted reform the corrupt government), I see politics as things were manipulation is the base, so maybe I just didn’t have much expectation from her, or expected her to be manipulative to show that she understood what needed to be done in politics…
That part of her don’t upset me much.

I will be honest, I don’t remember a part when she talked about being the absolute good or saying the demons are the absolute evil. neither for any “justice” talk. I may be wrong, if someone can show me where it is, please do.
the things I understand from hibiki is, she aknowledge herself as part/an ally of limia, and will do everything in favor of limia.
the same point, demon are invading limia so they are her enemies too.
She has proof of tomoki (or the empire) will start a conquest after the war again the demons, making of tomoki and gritonia potential ennemies.

for kuzunoha, I will devellope a little. kuzunoha have few of the strongest being, exceding heroes’ strenght.
first is mio that she still can’t grasp her full power.
second she linked the devil to kuzonoha, probably strongest guy on earth, he wiped out around 10 000(If I remember?) limia’s soldier at the same time of the demon army as he was sent to protect limia. with his interaction with lo and how larva took hibiki’s party hostage to hold her at the palace, she can assume that: they would easily turn against hyumans, and they don’t have a strong stance against demons.
same for shiki, she liked larva to kuzunoha, a lich that single handly beat a superior dragon.
Tomoe, whose she had a taste of her power with the duel.
All of them being part of a compani dealing in goods (includinng weapon) of an incredible quality, and lead by makoto who want to stay neutre but show hostility against the godess, limia being the country with the biggest faith for the godess, it would become the first target of makoto as a proxy to take a revenge against the godess.
her choice to eliminate kuzunoha may be extrem and hasty, but understandable.

I don’t think she ever showed any hostility against lorel, even though lorel is one of the 3 great power on human side, and hold the weakest faith for the godess, so I don’t see hibiki as a fanatic who would crush anyone that don’t fully sumbit to the godess.
I think she even doubted the godess at a time. I am not sure and don’t remember where. I think hibiki aknowledge the godess being important part in the world structure and deeply rooted in limia’s culture, but don’t hold any faith for her. at least not blind faith.

again, if I am wrong or missed something, please show me.

She is holding the role of hero to gain people’s support and more political power, and that’s the reason why she choose the “nakama power” as power-up.

you compare her as Zef, but honestly hibiki and Zef are very likely, maybe even the same. the only difference I see is until now, zef is the only one of the two to Explicitly say that he didn’t considere his actions as purely good, but a necessary evil for his country. hibiki may feel the same, but didn’t say it explicitely.
Zef become the demon king (hero’s demon) by promising them to save them, a better future, and taking revenge against hyumans and the godess.
hibiki became the hero to protect limia, and wash away the corruption in the nobility for a better future for commoners.
Hibiki used her statut of japanese to come closer to makoto and draw intel from him. Zef, knowing makoto is highly inflenced by his emotion, played the card of “honesty” by telling him everything on demon’s culture to try to make a friendly bond with him and reduce the chance of makoto turning against demons. same as he presented the gifts to makoto to make him feel indepted, when in fact it was a trick to assure that demons would benefit kuzunoha’s good and tie him a little more to the demons. same kind of manipulation.
I think they are far more similare that people think.

and lastly, on the love part:
“The first person that Hibiki wished for the most,”
she wished for lime more than mio, who are obviously more valuable than lime.I can’t see 3 hypothesis for that:
-she become more arrogant and greedy since her power-up
-lime is more valuable because he have a better synergy with the party
        -a certain feeling

even if unlikely, i don’t brush it off.

        1. Very good points.

Now I can’t help but wonder what would happen if Makoto arranged a meeting between Hibiki and Zef. Just to talk as fellow “Affiliation Heroes”.

Naturally, either Tomoe, Shiki, and/or Makoto himself would need be there as a mediator that keeps them from trying to kill each other(Sorry Mio, you’re not cut out for keeping things peaceful). I could see some interesting things coming about as a result of their talking.

          1. I think that even if they could come to some sort of agreement, from what’s been said before, I feel it would take at least one generation before they could have some semblance of peace. Both sides are really invested in the effort to exterminate the other. While the old guard is still in charge, they will push for war.

I feel that Hibiki’s charisma is not all powerful, and probably has limitations, being less effective on some people than on others. That’s probably one of the reasons why it’s mostly the young nobles who rally around her, and not the old ones. The older generation is set in their ways, and therefore affected to a much lesser degree. Thus, she won’t be able to sway them to her way of thinking. At best, her charisma makes them more friendly towards her, but that’s all.

They also remember the times when the Demons destroyed one kingdom after another, while in the recent times it seems the borders have remained largely unchanged, so the older Hyumans grew up with the fear of them being next and the threat of Demons being very real, while the younger generation grew up hearing only the stories. The most that happened between the Hyumans and Demons in recent times (before Makoto arrived) is probably some skirmishes now and then.

As for Demons, they’re probably longer lived than Hyumans, so there are bound to be a lot of them who still remember the time before they managed to take some fertile lands from the Hyumans. They would remember how the Hyumans have almost exterminated them.

And let’s not forget that Hibiki is an agent of the bug. The most she might be willing to compromise on, is to not completely wipe out the Demons, but it’s unlikely she would agree to letting the Demons keep the fertile lands they conquered.

Anyway, I feel there are some things I’m forgetting, and that I’m completely wrong about at least some of what I said, but it’s late so I’ll just wait for others to correct me. 🙂

          2. No, you make really good points. Basically, as “Heroes”, both Hibiki and Zef are bound by their duties to fight each other. The hyumans and demons, as a whole, are ready to go at each other’s throats until one of them is dead.

That said, peace isn’t really the goal I have in mind for arranging a nonviolent conference between those two. The idea is to just exchange ideas. Neither’s mind will be changed, but I think it would provide both of them with some food for thought, as well as a better understanding of what the other is like. A change from being enemies by nature into enemies by circumstance. And who knows? Hibiki has big plans so this might cause some more changes to them for the better.

There would be a bunch of impacts the two would have on each other, I’m sure, and I’m just curious to see how it would pan out.

      5. @ Redcolonel: I said that she is not a fanatic of the Goddess, but a fanatic of her own views, beliefs, nothing religious. If somebody doesn’t go against the Goddess, she will do nothing because she doesn’t serve the Goddess. But she sees the Goddess as a good person, so somebody who goes openly against her is obligatory a bad person. (Maybe fanatic is the wrong term. What I mean is that Hibiki thinks that everything she herself does and think is right.)
Also, there was an earlier chapter were she talk about justice. (not a lot but still). I hope that you understand me now.

  23. hmm..poor hibiki..she just want to gain strong companion to fight against demon race for hyuman sake. idk why everyone being so hard with her. her confession also got rejected. what a poor girl. hahahah! XD

  24. Eh~ What a display of acting skill, truly befitting of a Bitchiki ! I’m impressed.

Oy, oy, that Snake is definitely doing a great job behind the scene ! Really a wise advisor… When she’s not in her samurai maniac mode !

So, that Pseudo Spy Lime… no, no, It’s no good… That Spy(lol) Lime finally retrieved his mind ? Oy ! He’s lacking training ! Return him to that Boot Camp until he vomits Bitchiki repel, you Edo Snake !

    Thanks for your work !

  25. Somebody could spoil me in how many chapters Makoto will wake up from his dream and realize that Hibiki is dangerous? (in a few chapter, around 20, around 50 or more than that) (I really hate that part of Makoto)

Also, I really hate her. If I wanted to compare to Trashmoki: I am mad at him, want to punch his face and certainly don’t like him but I would not avoid him (even if each encounter end with a few punches).
For Hibiki, it’s worst than Rona and the Princess: You know that the Princess and Rona are always plotting and so you are careful. They are like snakes: even if it’s not attacking you, you don’t approach it. While Hibiki is a poisonous flower, you don’t see it as dangerous. If you don’t avoid her, you are caugth in her trap.

    1. What a good rephrase of she is not total schemer.

well then I remind you that Rona easily fool Makoto in Rostgard and Lily successfuly use Makoto for naking tomoki seek power so in which way Hibiki is more bad then this princess which seek destruction.

and you don’t found any great scheme in her actions?

      1. You forgot that she schemed against Makoto to make him spill the beans, she schemes with the young lords to change the laws, she thought of scheming against Makoto to make him fight the Empire, …
As for Rona and Lily: they are schemers so it’s to be excepted that you eventually fall into their traps. It’s just that you are wary of them, making it more difficult. Something that you don’t have with Hibiki. Only the servant trio are wary.

  26. Wow.. looks like its going to reach 600 comments in under 24 hours..

Really hope Makoto learns Hibiki’s real nature.. last chapter it said he had to meet with with the Limia kingdom right? Could it be then?

    1. Well I think that the dream Makoto you are refering to was the last one to appaear and that guy was nuts, so what he saud shouldn’t be taken to face value. Not that Hibiki isn’t manipulative but the resentment in that statement was biased.

    1. Highlights in these side stories:
. Netorare of the Mother of Makoto (Chapter 4)
      – Stories of the gods before the disappearance of Tsukihime (appear Amataresu, Poseidon, gods of the past, present and future, Susanoo, Athena, others)
-Atenea and Daikakuten see through the eyes of Eris the world and everything about Makoto (Eris Medium)

. Small fragment of Athena towards Eris:
“Athena:” And that this girl really has a great talent and predisposition as a medium … It would be very interesting to teach him several things, and also the young Makoto in panic is also quite fun to watch. Fufu, Eris, you listen to me, you listen to me well, from now on you will become a Magical Girl, an existence capable of overcoming casualties, and I will teach you about the sacred knights who Apparently serve under my command * … if you serve well that young man will reward you. “: D

          1. Well the thing with Makoto mother happened before they came to earth, its explained that she was young and naive and the “other guy” used that, I didn’t really guet if he was in love with her. And that ended years before they came to earth. But yep I am still grasping my mind about that bomb.

          2. Wait, other g-

Okay, stop right here. Can someone please explain to me how Netorare functions grammatically? Because I interpreted the word as defining the victim, so “Netorare of Mom” would be if a third party stole dad.

Because my first image here is some other man starting an affair with Makoto’s dad.

          3. Well sorry if I miss lead you the mother was the one that went with other guy, then came back to Makoto father, but is never explicit explained what happens, the highligth of the extra is their interaction with the Goddes to send them to another world, so we can see the Goddes beyond the interactions she had with Makoto. The hole NTR thing is just background information.

          4. Sorry if I misslead you in anyway, no the one guetting “stolen” is Makoto moher but then things happens and she and Makoto Father reconcile. Is never told the hole situation only the highligths of it, because thats just background information for the Extra the essential thing about the chapter is how Makoto parents interact with the Goddes and we guet to see her out of her interactions with Makoto.

      1. I sent a message to mousetail asking if I could translate the extra chapters from Spanish to English. He hasn’t replied yet. I’m going to wait a bit and keep trying before I just start posting them on my site. I figure that at that point, he can get ahold of me if he wants me to stop, and I can take them down. I’ve already got half of them done, just need to edit them.

      2. Oy, I should start to read these side stories for they are a huge source of intel !

The possibility for MC-chan to be an hybrid is sure interesting !
But Athena’s moves sure are hilarious !

That Goddess can think of fun things, as expected from the war goddess ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

Truly, she has too much free time !
Ah~ ! Introducing magical girls in Asora and at the same time inducing headaches to MC-chan.
As well as that Spider’s Sentaï suit, you’re really messing up that Bug’s world…
        Athena ! …Good job !!

    1. I’d love to see that too Betrayal=Enemy and then after pwnage! But honestly, I thought it was the end of the road for the Lime and Hibiki… but mataku… 😧

    1. This chapter is more about the sulky feeling of a manipulative little bitch that failed to get things her way for once in her life

      1. There is NO basis to say she was manipulative in this. She might actually have feelings for him. God those comments are retarded.

        1. Ehh. I think the comments are justified.

There’s no basis in this chapter alone, because it’s from the perspective of someone being influenced by Hibiki’s charisma. In the past when we had a peek inside her mind coupled with various other explicit actions, however, we can see a highly manipulative side to her.
Maybe there are genuine feelings in here? I couldn’t get a good read on it. But it’s entirely equally believable that Hibiki is playing a manipulation game. Redcolonel pointed out that she wanted Lime most of all despite there being many other even stronger people, so her personal feelings probably have a strong impact on her desire to recruit Lime.

It’s just that Hibiki is too pragmatic to be recruiting him “just for her own feelings”.

      2. If I remember correctly, there was a god that gift her the charisma of a hero, so she is using that power to manipulate…… in other words… I don’t like her -.-

      3. im agree with you @name, in early ch i think she’s 1 of the best chara because of her charisma and doing heroic stuf properly but as the story goes and reveal how the real ‘Hibiki’ is, Tomoki seems a lot better than her, i mean Tomoki is only childish and easy to manipulate but Hibiki is the one who manipulate.

about Lime i think she’s only want him to replace Naval since their first coperative.

      4. Except that dispite everything she says about equality and coexistamce in one of Hibiki’s chapters Hibiki says (in her inner monologue) flat out that she fully supports the system the Goddess has in place (with all the suffering, discrimination, and general horribleness it is based on) and fully intends for it to continue once she wins the war against the demons. Even if everything about her acting mentioned in this chapter isn’t a bad thing, what I listed here are her uncensored thoughts, meaning she is straight up lying to Lime and is the very definition of manipulative.

      5. Yeah, she doesn’t like to lose, but she doesn’t have any real hang up over not getting her way. The boredom of getting her way all the time is what lead her to coming to the goddesses world.

She just genuinely developed an attachment to Lime, even though there was probably ulterior motives originally, and maybe even up until the end, but the main reason for her trying to recruit him did shift at some point.

      6. Thinking about makoto’s last dream where he wanted “genocide”…. There’s a part where hibiki was viewed negatively and since the part about tomoki in the same dream was true it’s safe to assume that her being a manipulative woman might not be far off…. Also assuming she was actually having feelings for lime is pretty naive thinking which is akin to makoto in my opinion

    2. I doubt it, like tomoe said Hibiki is a politician that talk about marriage is just so she can seduce him and get Lime to her side, she would probably really marry him but it would be more like a political marriage just so she could get what she wants. Her obsession with lime most likely is because he remember her from her dead companion.

    3. mostly Hibiki still lingers at Naval shadow, that was exactly as Lime so she is trying to fill the spot that Naval left , but who knows maybe she was starting to fell for him well who cares about that bitch feelings right?

  27. Well that cloud do foreshadow something. I fell like there could be a pun there but I’m too fuckin stupid to out one together. Thanks for the chapter. I’m excited to see what comes next.

  28. Wow, all the hate comment for hibiki. Personally, i dont think she is that bad, a little calculated maybe, but isnt all beautiful girls like that? Except the dumb ones. And dont forget that last time chiya said that hibiki is a good person, even after she obtain seer eyes.

    1. She didn’t say that she stayed “good”, she said that there were no changes between when she looked at her before and after obtaining the eyes. “you remained onee-chan” or “you didn’t change onee-chan” or something like that. This could mean that it’s an effect of the charisma given to her, that is acting in a more passive way than thee demons eyes from Tomoki, but influencing Chiya enough. Anyway, I’m one that thinks that Hibiki can’t be trusted, and is twisted like Tomoki in a different way. She seems to become a manipulative fanatic, which is one of the things I would hate the most. Plus, she refrained from telling anything about the Kuzunoha Company because Lime was here, so in my opinion, she considers them enemy/threats that needs to be wiped out, and could even have tried to obtain Lime to aid in that purpose as well, use him as a spy as well as having him help in the party. I’m honestly very doubtful that she is a potential ally, and seems more like a potential enemy like Tomoki. Tomoki is simply more straightforward.

      1. Hibiki is in no way an ally, also, i dont like chiya´s demon eyes, i hold the think that she interprets what she wants too, we never got to see what he saw on hibiki after all, he saw in lime the moment tomoe picks him up, saw mio in spider form holding dear the pact with makoto, and saw in makoto his relation with the bow in azusa and the connection with his 3 aides in the chains of the pact, but so far hibiki hasnt been said what she saw in her, and im sure it is something bias, sinc she said something like “you didnt change” which is weird altogether if you consider that not long ago he got that power, and surely, the gift from bug and the other entity, affected chiya perception

    1. …..I’m down. Mainly because of the various other doujins with so many other girls there would also be. Sadly, I somehow imagine Ema to be one of the less common characters for those types of stories.

Actually, if there’s one thing I’d dread that would come with an anime, it would be money grubbers licensing the IP and attempting to shut this translation down. Oh dear lord THE HORROR.
Oh, and also the fact that it might become so well received that the community hits critical mass and reaches the “X community is cancer” milestone.

      1. Might not be much of a problem since this translation is of the Web Novel, not the LN.
If the LN gets licenced, the WN shouldn’t be affected much, probably just have to remove all the images like in Death March.
Unless of course the author pulls a stunt like Conquering Hero’s Heroines and deletes all the raws…

      1. I only want to see the novel get animated. Not some sketchy yaoi doujin. Or some over exposed cosplay. Just.. the anime.

Prefer Aya Hirano’s voice as Komoe-chan. Fuh.. right at the kokoro.

      2. Tch ! Where are the boiling feelings you used to display when running over some spoilers, propulsing in the airs another, stomping over and over on a persistent one ?! Then flying over with a tired but fulfilled face !
        Where is your pride ?!!

  29. Interesting… It’s funny how this community acts promptly (over 600 comments) when someone mentioned NTR in this chapter, which is actually not correct.

Hibiki tries to lure Lime out of Kuzunoha by using womanly ‘charms’, which didn’t work, and I don’t think this falls under the category of NTR. At least not the definition that I know of. This chapter is more about a subordinate’s loyalty. Like a family. Or yakuza group. I believe Kuzunoha has a lot of benefit for their employees to keep their loyalty. Plus, they’re chosen especially because of their loyalty and skills to enter Asora in the first place. Ain’t no one from Kuzunoha or Asora gonna go against the one they love (and fear, after experiencing Tomoe’s bootcamp). There is just so much more to the company than just an enterprise, or mirage town. It’s a whole new world, literally.

The only thing that sounds NTR-ish to me is Hibiki’s method in trying to get on Lime’s good side. “Please marry me.” She said. Oh, Really? Cheesy-weekday-evening-drama dialogue. Lime knows better than to fall for that. That’s why he mentioned Mio’s cooking (might have more than one meaning to it).

This chapter: You guys say NTR. I say no. Well, our different opinions doesn’t matter since Makoto still wins anyway. lol

… and all your comments, reaction, bantering for this one short chapter. Hahaha…
The internet is full of assholes but this one place here is Really Funny. That’s why I like this place. And the novel too.
Guess I’ll stay here for good.

Gonna park the Truck here forever.
    *apply permanent citizenship with Reigokai*

    1. You might want to use a truck picture as an avatar. And say vroom vroom when Spoiler-san appears. That way we can honestly say that Truck-kun is after him LOL.

      1. *monotone*
Okay sir. Did you be sure to fill in the green form? Because the blue-not the light blue-the blue form is the application made for vehicles. Also be sure to fill them out in triplicates, all with your information on it, and to turn them into the office across from us. After that, you’ll need to make an appointment to get things sorted out with an official from your current residents to send us confirmation within three months time…

    2. NTR, as I understand it from that one TV Tropes time sink ages ago, is in essence meant to provoke jealousy and possessiveness that comes with loss.

Also, the conclusion is tied to a not so happy ending. If things work out for the couple, then the event just becomes something within the range of jealousy-induced love epiphany flags to highly uncomfortable rapey scenes featuring a heroine.

…..so yeah, this isn’t NTR. Well, depending how strongly Bredda feels about Hibiki, it might’ve been for him, but Lime said no anyway so no, not really. To start with, Lime is “Makoto’s” under this context, but he certainly doesn’t feel possessive over the guy(probably). Hibiki doesn’t qualify for it either since she’s clearly approaching this as the “intruder” here.

  30. I commented a few days ago was reading the 600+ other comments today
and wow most comments here are…… a bit …intense (Lol)

I think I know why a lot of people here are ‘hating’ on Hibiki
    Here are ‘Possible Reasons’
    1. Its like feeling the disappointment on an advertisement of a product who did not meet your expectations.
Ya all thought Hibiki is…..okay I’ll stop there

    2. Losing a friend/follower because of another friend stinks, its worse if that other friend was someone you admire.
You probably can related to that.

    3. Admit it or not, no matter how much pathetic behavior/thinking Makoto displays
You guys probably felt a sense of attachment(no matter how little) to him and his company.
The Author succeed on that part. You may hate Makoto but deep inside you are cheering for him to succeed.

    4. Other reasons

I think based on what I have read so far number 3 is prevalent
Whether you guys admit it or not.
So far I wanted to see Makoto’s heart broken and form a weapon similar to his Azusa because of that but………..

    1. Oh yeah. I’m totally rooting for Makoto, AND want this to come to a head soon.

I can’t say much on the reasons for hating Hibiki though, since those first two points don’t really apply to me(not surprised by Hibiki’s behaviour and it doesn’t bother me in the first place ).

    2. Pretty much this…

The hate on Hibiki is much more than she deserves… If we had more Hibikis then I would want to believe that it would be a better world. But yeah she does have a few faults. Unlike that burnable trash that is tomoki, most of them are forgivable. Hell, even the demons have their reason and rona by extension. I would necessary support the actions. Right now, nobody is innocent in the LN and I mean nobody.

        1. Makato earned that love but he could not even spend that pay check. Pity life was an ass and wanted him to go save the world the world instead. It was even taxing for god was both were quite spent leaving Makato broke in the wastelands. Maybe he will return to claim the benefits back from his world. But that item still TBA…

  31. Fuck hibiki she’s a total B**** just thinking how to use others not close to her. Can’t w8 for the day when she will show her ugly face and gets obliterated by Makoto.

  32. Hibiki is like the leftist version of TRUMP. She fights for the will of the hyuman. She doesn’t like what the Goddess did, but is properly playing the role of “hero of the people”. Her new power is derived from the people who believe in her anyway. And the people want demon’s blood. Hibiki’s future success would mean certain death for the demon race. That would fuck up MC’s plan to be pure neutral and getting all TPP GLOBALIST with all races.

    1. “Hibiki is like the leftist version of TRUMP”

‘everybody I dissagree with is Hitler’ volume.2: ‘everybody I disagree with is Trump’

don’t be a retard, I see no relation with him.

      1. don’t be a retard. don’t think like a wingnut. trump is NOT hitler and hillary is a decent career politician NOT a devil growing horns on her head. you’re a politicked pawn who can only see in black and white. that’s bad. be like makoto, be a good neutral merchant goi. be un-biased(until they try to kill you or betray you)

        1. the only common point I see is they both say they will help their people, but that too weak to compare them.

and makoto can afford to be neutral because he know he will be unaffected by who win. someone neutral would be someone that doesn’t take any stance and just follow any results. basically a sheep.

    2. Hibiki is the Hyuman version of Zef. Zef would be fine if they could have peace with the hyumans, but the will of the demon race would never allow it (by his own admission), so as the representative demon lord he will do his best to give them what they want. As the hero, and arguably the only character actually performing as one given Lily’s manipulations of Tomoki’s general immaturity, Hibiki is performing largely in parallel to Zef. While she wants to work slowly towards a world without discrimination against Demi-hyumans, she understands that the will of the people will only accept war with the hostile demon race, so she pursues it as their representative.

Trump just wants the world to suck his twitter dick.

      1. Now that you mention how Zef and Hibiki are parallel. Didn’t the land Makoto, (cough) conquered (cough) procured, land smack dab in the middle of the human and demon territory. Now imagine these races hate each other so much but don’t want to piss off Makoto in case he feel like destroying their countries. There could be war waging all around his land but it’s like a freaking utopia one step inside his border. A caravan coming out of the country bearing the sign of his company instantly stops the war in that area.
I wonder if he will allow the armies to pass through his lands or straight up reject them?

    3. Tomoki is closer to trump

      he is invincible
He has some mystical charisma that stops people thoughts
He makes a dictatorship (in the dream)
He kills anyone that disagrees with him (in the dream)
      He has a huge ego

Makato will win either way. It more of a question of how.

  33. I don’t get why Hibiki gets so much hate. So what if she is manipulative. Adults by nature are manipulative. She just happens to be very good at it.

If she creates a win win situation then who cares? But She will be the one to bear the burden if it fails. That what it means to lead. However, she values her comrades lives, unlike tomoki. She is also honestly trying to improve the country through reforms. She is pragmatic and thus she is trying to poach talent to fill her party she knows that will fill a void. In addition she seems to have feeling for him as she was likely half serious about her confession. There isn’t anything wrong with that. In a sense, the same thing happens between companies where elites are in demand.

I kind of wanted lime to leave and grow on his own then come back but the chapter was indeed a lesser version of what I wanted.

I suspect that much of this hate towards her has roots in that it is a woman. She is honestly trying to become like an ideal hero and needs power to do so. I bitter realization was when she lost navel. I kind of pisses me off me people make out makato to be like a saint when we did something manipulative during the hybrid arc. And remember that he purposely waited and many people were killed so that they could make a profit. It was a defining moment of him awakening to the gray zone but Hibiki been living there for much of her life.

Just as how Hibiki isn’t the perfect hero, Makato isn’t the perfect MC. He is the complete opposite of Hibiki from his personality to how he got his power. Makato never has really been in danger except in one incident and has it on easy mode. I still love this story as it is well make but he is only just being challenged.

    1. How is pointing out someone being manipulative person hating? I thought her intentions of undermining MC’s company is pretty clear. It was mentioned in previous chapters that she thinks the company will get in her way of shaping the world to her liking. And she tried to fish out as many informations as possible once she found out that the head of the company is her acquaintance by exploiting his admiration and lack of caution towards her. And then out of all the strong people in that world she tried to poach and seduce an employee of the company and almost managed to achieve that was that just a coincidence?

The allies and enemies of MC are very noticeable in this story, and the pawn of goddess will not be his ally. As of now she is just a trigger set by the author for the sake of MC “character development” waiting to be found out and dealt with at some point in the story.

      1. While she can be manipulative, yes, this was probably mostly just a coincidence. It may have initially be with the interest of finding out more about the company (I mean, pretty much everyone’s interested in the mysterious Kuzunoha Company, so it makes sense), but it eventually became about how she felt/saw the shadow of her treasured companion in Lime and didn’t want to have to part ways with him and that feeling. The only way to avoid having to part ways was by him officially joining her party. Undermining the company is really just a (most likely) unintended side effect of that.

Later on (this chapter), it becomes evident that she had actually developed some feeling of attachment to him.

    2. She gets the hate because a number of facts:
      1) She is self-righteous.
      2) She has a modern mindset and recognizes that the treatment of demihumans is bad. Although she knows that now could be a good moment to change that she doesn´t want to bother and decides to postpone it (perhaps indifenitely).
      3) After destroying the demon race she wants to continue the vomitive Bug´s system.
      4) Makoto´s concern for her is genuine and doesn´t want to antagonize her. She wants to use him, and if he becomes an obstacle she wants to remove him.
      5) She is a manipulative individual while pretending to be a virtuous person.

      1. 1) proof of her justifing her action by justice or moral more than other characters, please
        2) she have to deal with the demon invasion and a future gritonia’s invasion in a country in the verge of collapsing from internal corruption. not really the best time to change a culture so deeply rooted, especially in limia.
        3) true, bug’s system must be stupid, but going against the only god of the world and turn your back to a source of power as strong as the godess’ blessing is crazy in itself.
        4) that mean she is a schemer, like most of characters in this novel so far. and people sugar-coat makoto too much, as if making a move against him is the most heinous crime ever.
        5) her hero-play make her a more competant schemer, not a more disgusting one. again, I don’t remember her qualifing herself as good, pure or virtuous.

      2. As pointed out more and more times Hibiki’s major flaw is her inability to understand others’ the point of view. Not even once she asked herself if hymans were actually are right or if they could learn anything from the demons.

Turn theit back on the goddess is possible, the demons and all othet races are the proof.

      3. She realizes that trying to change the treatment of demi-humans while she’s already got this war on her plate wouldn’t be a wise thing to do. Not that she doesn’t care.

Her manipulation is for the sake of virtue. Blind virture often falls pretty to the schemers, if you want to seek justice, you’re better off knowing how to play the same game as those against you.

    3. Hibiki is disliked that because of her narrow mind, she thinks in the same way as the bug goddess as how her selected ones are rewarded but the rest is an eyesore.

Her actions are in a way… pointless, the demon race was losing before her and is still losing, even if she kills the demon lord the war will continue, she wants to reform the kingdom but the princess had planned to do so anyway, she wants to bring peace in the imperfect world model of the goddess so how many years such peace will continue after her?

      1. Where the hell did you get that she thinks in the same way as the goddess??? She actually disagrees with the discrimination of the goddess, but she’s in a position where she can’t directly fight the system, so she does so indirectly. As for fighting the demons, that’s mostly because she agreed to play the role of hero before she went to that world, and partly due to those around her being affected by the attacks of/war with the demons. She’s gotta pick a side unlike Makoto, so even if she doesn’t agree with the humans and the goddess that rules them, the natural answer for her is to fight on their side.

And she doesn’t just treat others as an eyesore, whether it was the adventures from Tsige, or just ordinary citizens, she’s held concern and care for all of their lives. Of course, she doesn’t get too hung up when some people die because what’s does is done, but if at all possible, she’ll try her utmost to save them beforehand.

Also, if it weren’t for her, then reform would’ve been that much harder. As a prince/princess will simply never has as much sway over the common people as a hero could. Therefore, even in the system that that goddess set up, while she might not be able to do anything about the other races social standings, she can have sway over the discrimination they face.

  34. Protagonists can be wicked,arrogance,crafty,intelligent,strategist,betrayer,avenger,cruel,foreshadow-er,predict-er,friendly,farsighted,experienced….but…..no matter what….in the they all will still lack the finale that character like saitama(from One punch) can accomplish..(Well noe makato is also reaching his foot steps)…I.E–(((OVERWHELMING POWER)))

  35. well i didnt read all comments so im not sure if anybody already pointed it out but a lot of you guys misunderstand hibki. “A power that is passively activated. To change the concept that people place on her into power, huh. She is a charismatic girl so, I wonder, just how much will this enlarge her?” Is what what that god (not the bug but another god) said. it implies that hibiki gets stronger if people believe admire and think of here as a hero.(i take the good concepts not sure if the opposite is possible but probably) the charisma is something she got from the the very beginning even in the “real” world, she was the student council president and could do anything perfectly which why she choosed to go to the other world when the bug gave her the chance because she thought it was “boring” that everything she wanted to accomplish would be accomplish iirc. So the God commented that because she IS charismatic it would be interesting to see the results of that power. So Hibiki didnt use some kind of power of a god to get lime to her side but genuine charisma resulting of her words, ideals, thoughts, achievements and acts. Well you cant deny thought that she is good at handling people but it is on a level where she manipulate them with good things in mind like Lime himself said “its bad because its deceiving” is naive thinking and makoto also use deceiving so its not really bad. of course something like abuse of that is easy but as long she isnt going to do so and with her personality i dont see a problem yet i mean whats the problem in thinking pragmatic? tbh hibiki is more of an realistic person as makoto but because makoto is the mc and and out of common sense mc at that he is more favorable in this situation. I like hibiki as an charakter and also as an hero it would be quite interesting if she were to pair with makoto is what i thought but now a pairing with lime would also seem funny after all there is not a real romance yet as makoto still thinks of his harem only as family and is more of the dense type.

    1. Well Hibiki is portrayed as that person that guets along with everyone, that guets out of his way to make people feel comfortable with them, and when is done to you one barely notice it, but when seen from outsided it seem like to mutch effort for little reward so one guets suspicious. By the way I like Hibiki but problaly thats whats leads people to missunderstand her. Not that been that kind of person os wrong or rigth.

  36. Really didn’t like this chapter, and my opinions of lime hibiki and even the story as a whole dropped from this…. But its still not as bad as tomoki imo

  37. Man, I’ve been waiting for Hibiki to fall in love with Makoto for so long. Then lime started interacting with her and I got a bad feeling a big of chapters back. Now she proposed to Lime and seems to have feelings for him… Ugh.

  38. Seriously Lime you almost broke my heart. As I thought Himbiki is like rose with full of thorns. DamN my curiosity is at peak now.

    1. In another story she would be the protagonist but in the world of Tsuki her shallow justice is exposed. The fact that she has a type of charming ability doesn’t help in her likeability as character either.

      1. My understanding is that it’s not an “ability” it’s just charisma. There are plenty of people in our world like that as well. She’s not “doing” anything to them. She’s just a likeable person.

        1. I think she does have that as an ability of some sort, but it works differently from Tomoki’s. While his was “Charm” as a status effect, hers is an amplification of her existing “Charisma”.

In practice, his has more brute force but hers is more dangerous, because she changes people instead of just turning them into puppets. Which is also why the demons prioritized killing her off.
Lime’s hesitation this chapter is a product of that “Charisma”, where it’s obviously still him, but his views and alliance is quickly being drawn in by Hibiki.

    2. Well, saying Hibiki is a good-intentioned girl is more accurate.

I can believe that she genuinely wants to help people and make the world a better place. It’s just that she has a very…uh…questionable way of doing it while also making said approach unquestioningly.

Hmm…I wonder if she’d be able to act civilly if someone from team Kuzunoha introduced her to an unhostile Io?

      1. …But she has questioned it. Several times. She’s simply ended up concluding that there’s no other way to save the people relying on her.

        1. Does she question it a lot? I don’t remember too much of that.
What comes to mind to me is her basically deciding her allegiance is to Limia, where she’s formed bonds and companions. From her conversation with Makoto, she seemed pretty singlemindedly self-righteous.

Well, I might be thinking of future chapters regarding Hibiki too, so I’ll leave it at that.

      2. You, and many others somehow mistook the power that God granted her for some kind of passive mind control/passive influence power, where in actuality, it’s a passive power/ability booster that merely turns other’s belief in her and the image they project onto her (that of a hero) into power for her to use. Basically, it’s the power of collective belief. Nowhere did it say anything about amplifying her charisma or sway over others (she was disgusted by beach-moki’s charm after all). The charismatic sway she has over people is just her natural people skills at work.

        1. What? I think we’re talking about different things here. Before anything else though, we still don’t know the identity of the being that granted her the power during the attempt on her life. It would make sense if it was a god, but it could easily be a Superior Dragon or something in between, so it’s all up in the air.

Next, Hibiki got an ability during the attack on Limia and that is what turns belief into power for her. She also got a charisma blessing from Bug. It might be an amplification of her natural charisma, or it might be a separate [Skill], but it definitely exists, distinctly different from Tomoki.
It was why she was considered a bigger threat to demonkind than Tomoki, because if you kill Tomoki, his [Charm] victims become limp puppets, but if you kill Hibiki, the people she’s won over will carry on her will like she’s a martyr. In the long-term, Hibiki was a much worse problem than Tomoki.

And that’s not an innate skill either-at least, not one that was active on Earth. Bug explicitly gave her a blessing for that.

  39. this chapter has the highest number of comments among the previous chapters, what the hell? why!!

and the charisma power of Hibiki, was it from the Bug or her natural talent??

  40. As always ppl are too histile to anyone not mc, i hope she actually is in love with him, and that they kep meeting, it would be incredibly sad if they didnt get a chance at an relationshio. Not to mention having her tied tokuzunoha company is insanely benefittable to raidou

    Pls for one

  41. I can understand the dilemmma of Lime, he is a hyuman, one that have rised with hyuman, then someone with a immense amout of charisma, someone that is basically the personification of a ideal hero, is understable that that sort of person could make a hyuman being feels so attracted, compared to demi-hyumans, mamonos and others races at least.

    1. “It was different from how he felt with Makoto. Lime felt a sensation as if wanting to stretch out his hand.

And from that, the answer was already decided.”
Well, yeah. When it comes to ‘bosses’, leaving aside his 3 close aides and some others like Ema or Beren, Makoto basically doesn’t have much of a relationship with the rest of the people from Asora/Kuzunoha Company. On the other hand, Hibiki is trying really hard to appeal to him, so it’s understandable that in that point he can waver.
I didn’t think his loyalty toward Tomoe, who he swore to follow forever, would be that weak tho.

Dunno how is he gonna react when he learns that after the war is over Hibiki is planning to take down the Company. I don’t even know if Tomoe is gonna let someone who knows so much about them and Asora go just like that.

      1. Eh, ¿no? Makoto interact a lot with the Asora residents and Kuzunoha employees, it’s just that compared with the rest Lime as a former hyuman and actual demi-hyuman his position, or maybe is better to say point of view it’s different to the other residents of Asora, so that’s why someone so dazzlingly charming as Hibiki can affect him so much, even more if they are from the deep of their hearts nice to him, thought it was only needed a moment of “see” Makoto again after a long time to remember his loyalty. That he still can be scolded for doubt regarding his loyalty to Tomoe and Makoto, yes, but it’s understable with all things considered.

  42. “(Sis, the number one essence of Hibiki is coexistence and mutual prosperity. I think that she would be able to get along well with Boss and us.) (Lime)”
She is someone that plans to follow the Goddess’ system, someone who thinks Makoto is evil for not discriminating between hyumans and demons and someone who plans to pitch the Empire against the Kuzunoha Company and destroy whoever remains, but yeah, ‘coexistence and mutual prosperity’ of course.
