Chapter 206: A transient peace

<“To think that Raidou-dono was someone that had come from another world, I wouldn’t have expected it. A hero would be one thing, but for a merchant to be summoned is something I wouldn’t have been able to imagine.”
A talk with prince Joshua.
In this place where no other noble is present, I was here alone with her.
What was reflected in my eyes when I was given permission to enter the room, was the figure of prince Joshua in a simple dress.
After finishing our remembrance talk about Rotsgard, prince Joshua suddenly brought out such a conversation.
“?!”
“I heard it from Hibiki. You are a resident from the same world of Hibiki, and also an acquaintance of hers. Of course, this is only known by me and his Majesty. We haven’t even told the Hopelace household that was together with us in Rotsgard.” (Joshua)
Information from Hibiki-senpai huh.
Then it wouldn’t be strange for Joshua to know.
But for her to talk about such information as well, it seems like there’s proper trust between her and the Limia royal family.
Because the nobles go to the frontlines frequently, and there’s also the background that the power of the nobles is strong, I had some strange thoughts of it, but it seems like it ended with just being thoughts.
It was the type that would be better if it ended in needless anxiety, so I am relieved.
“From Senpai, I see. Ah it is certainly true that Senpai and I were from the same world. I don’t know how to explain it, so it is a personal history that I haven’t spoke of much though.” (Makoto)
“…Must be. Special cases like Hibiki and the personage in the Empire have their background assured by our God, but Raidou-dono was a sudden happening huh. When I heard the story from Hibiki, I was surprised, and at the same time, I felt respect towards you who became a merchant even after that.” (Joshua)
“It is not as much as you say.” (Makoto)
It was just that my misfortune turned into fortune.
The truth is that there’s not much I have achieved myself.
After saying a relative amount of details that Senpai told her of me, I could tell that prince Joshua doesn’t know much.
If I were to speak with Hibiki in detail, it would be necessary to explain that the root reason of coming here was because of me and the Misumi household.
Be it Senpai or Tomoki, they originally shouldn’t have had a trigger to be related to this world.
And yet, because of me, they were forcefully selected by the Goddess.
Even if it’s the result from a selection, those two are totally victims.
In the first place, a decision like abandoning your world isn’t something that can be decided in a short amount of time.
I decided to do so because of my own circumstances, and yet, I am regretting it even now.
That’s why it is not a certainty if those two would have changed their answers now.
I do think that one day I have to properly apologize to Senpai and Tomoki, but how am I going to break it? The time where I am just brooding over it continues.
Because of the matter of Tomoe, it is even harder to talk with Tomoki about it after all.
It is still easier to tell Senpai, but…hah…
There’s that matter and I know it is difficult, but if possible, I don’t want to oppose them.
It is something that Tsukuyomi-sama asked of me, even if it was only moderately.
How vexing.
“At the same time, it allowed me to comprehend that power of yours. When Hibiki came to this world, she had the ability to fight with the leader of the knight division. She said she studied in Nakatsuhara and had learned about a variety of subjects; her knowledge and wisdom was quite the thing as well. In that case, you who have studied in the same place as her, beginning a business when coming to this world isn’t such a strange thing.” (Joshua)
I feel like she is having an incredible misunderstanding.
It is beginning to sound as if high school is an incredible place.
Also, it would be very troublesome to talk with Senpai as the standard.
I am one year younger than her, and if asked if I can become like Senpai, I would have to say I can’t.
Even if I were to try for my whole life, I think it would be impossible.
In the first place, for a high schooler to begin a business is something obvious? Just what’s Senpai?
“Hibiki-senpai was a special and exemplary person even within the people in our world. I am way inferior compared to her. And when talking about the business, it would be one thing to finish the test of the guild, but in practice, I am being hindered by my own inexperience, and there are a lot of things that don’t go well for me, that’s why, I don’t have the ability that Joshua-sama thinks I have.” (Makoto)
“Hibiki evaluated you pretty high, you know? She even said that there’s no one as reliable to have at one’s side than you, and that surprised his Majesty. I have heard that there’s the need to study a long time before being able to do the Merchant Guild test. And yet, you were able to call the test ‘one thing’, that must mean that even if Raidou-dono himself doesn’t notice, you are an exemplary person.” (Joshua)
…I think that the gaze of Hibiki was directed at Mio and Beren when she said that.
I don’t think she has noticed that it was us in Limia, and she doesn’t know that I was the one who defeated the purple cloud either, so I can’t think of a reason as to why she would evaluate me so highly.
Even if it’s Senpai, she shouldn’t have the foundations to evaluate me that high.
I am aware that I am incredibly blessed in talented people after all.
“Ahaha, when you say it like that it scares me. Right, speaking of surprise, your Joshua-sama’s attire has surprised me. As expected, when you are indoors, you dress normally huh.” (Makoto)
“…No, even when I am indoors, I normally don’t dress this way. It’s been awhile since I have released myself from crossdressing.” (Joshua)
“Ah, is that so.” (Makoto)
“Right now this room is being paid attention to in a lot of ways, so there’s the point that there’s no worries of the inside being peeked, and the guest that I was receiving is you, which serves as a big reason.” (Joshua)
“Is it because I already know of the circumstances?” (Makoto)
“Yeah. It would have been fine if that was only a hobby of mine, but…” (Joshua)
“As I thought, that’s not the case.” (Makoto)
“Me crossdressing is not something that I do because I like to. For me, it is nothing but a mean. It is something that if necessary, I won’t hesitate in doing, but if there’s no need to, I would prefer not doing it.” (Joshua)
“A mean… It sounds complicated.” (Makoto)
Even so, I don’t want to stick my nose in that, so I decided to just leave a vague response.
Whether the crossdressing is a hobby or a mean, I don’t have much interest in it.
If this will only steer unnecessary trouble, I would prefer to change the topic.
Well, I was trying to avert from the topic of Japan, and in the end, I ended up in a conversation that doesn’t have a good air, so my thinking was the shallow one.
Let’s be careful…at least.
“In terms of feeling at home, this way feels more comfortable. And that’s why a part of me has used you in order to be dressed in this way. Please forgive me.” (Joshua)
“No no, if it is only for this much, you can freely use me. Ehm, the normal gallant prince Joshua is lovely, but I think that the relaxed Joshua-sama is also beautiful.” (Makoto)
I go for a compliment.
In Limia, there’s a lot of moments when compliments are necessary, so I have been taught a few of what they said I should remember, and I have now used some.
In the talk with the nobles, it was a barrage of questions, so I didn’t have much chances to use it.
Prince Joshua in his female appearance won’t be that noisy about it, so it is the perfect person to use them.
“Use those kind of compliments when you are at parties, or nobles that boast their wife. It is necessary for you to first learn how to say it in a more natural manner though. Ehm, in other words, it is out of the question.” (Joshua)
So she has said ‘ehm’ huh.
That’s bad.
“Ah, sorry. I am just not used to say that. Because you are an acquaintance, I ended up trying it.” (Makoto)
“…I am still this country’s prince, you know?” (Joshua)
A slight silence is created with prince Joshua making a complicated expression.
“You are in that appearance, so I thought that maybe it is fine to not mind about social status at this moment.” (Makoto)
Since she is not meeting me as a prince, that means this matter is not about the country after all.
“It doesn’t seem to be enough, but you do have a relative amount of ability to make plans, so what’s needed is to pay attention to the other party’s feelings as well.” (Joshua)
“Ugh, that’s a harsh evaluation.” (Makoto)
It was kinda soft, but I feel like she was basically telling me I was showing my uselessness.
“And it seems like Raidou-dono doesn’t understand completely the reason why I am dressed this way. Hibiki is good at reading this kind of things, so I was unconsciously expecting that of you.” (Joshua)
The reason she is dressed this way?
The security of this room is reliable, and since I already know her circumstances, I thought she just wanted to relax.
Prince Joshua herself said so.
Prince Joshua waited for my words for a while, and after letting out a short troubled sigh, she looked at my eyes.
“Raidou-dono, you have learned of my secret.” (Joshua)
“Y-Yes.” (Makoto)
“And then, I asked you to keep it a secret and returned to my country.” (Joshua)
“Yeah.” (Makoto)
“…”
“…”
What’s happening?
Confirming the obvious, we once again fell into silence.
It is certainly true that I learned of prince Joshua being a woman, and after being asked to keep it a secret, we have met again like this in Limia, but…
What about it?
“…Hibiki told me that Raidou-dono is not someone that would plan a conspiracy, but I see, she referred to this huh. I now understand why when she was talking about Kuzunoha Company, she corrected herself and spoke of Raidou-dono himself.” (Joshua)
“E-Ehm…” (Makoto)
“At that time, I was unable to give any clear collateral to Raidou-dono, and didn’t even give anything like a deposit; the only thing I did was say some vague things. Then, how do you think I thought of Raidou-dono?” (Joshua)
“That you wanted to quickly present a collateral and be done with it, maybe?” (Makoto)
“No.” (Joshua)
“The capital was made a mess and it was no time for this, maybe?” (Makoto)
“No. That’s something that deviates from the preamble of ‘what I thought of Raidou-dono’.” (Joshua)
That’s true.
But, something that prince Joshua thought of me.
It isn’t a collateral.
Even so, there hasn’t been so many thought transmissions lately.
I thought that maybe it was because the reconstruction was hard work.
When I met with Hibiki-senpai before, she didn’t say anything about it though.
Hm…then what would she think?
If it were me, regarding a faraway person that has learned of something that’s bad to be known and have only done some simple secret keeping….
…I would definitely be uneasy.
Depending on the situation, I probably would want to eliminate that person as fast as possible.
But there wasn’t a single assassin from Limia.
Then, investigate?
To learn if that person has told anyone else about it.
There weren’t reports of that either though.
If it’s not this, I am out of ideas.
“Then, you were uneasy, so you wanted to know of the person’s movements?” (Makoto)
“That’s right. And from what I could tell, you haven’t disclosed my secret. You haven’t used it as a figurative talk either.” (Joshua)
So she was really checking us huh.
What method did she use?
I didn’t hear anything from my guys though.
“Yeah, and in truth, I haven’t told anyone.” (Makoto)
She did tell me not to tell anyone, and something like the secret of the second prince of Limia has no way of use for me.
“That’s why I will trust you from now on. With that meaning in mind, I showed myself in this appearance.” (Joshua)
“Could it be, I was being suspected quite a lot?” (Makoto)
That’s kind of…shocking.
The royal family that has been living a sheltered life even within the hyumans, that’s something…
In the case of this person, it feels like it would be possible, but even so.
“Let me ask you back, why would I be able to trust you? A merchant that I suddenly met in Rotsgard and know nothing of his personal history.” (Joshua)
“…”
That’s certainly suspicious.
Even if I don’t have the intentions to, it is natural from the viewpoint of the other party.
“At that time, I even estimated that my ruin would be coming. To the point that I even thought about how to dispose of my body so that it won’t cause problems for his Majesty. But you didn’t seem to have disclosed it, and there were no actions towards me with the knowledge you had.” (Joshua)
Disposing of her body, she means suicide?
That’s scary.
“Like I said, I haven’t told anyone.” (Makoto)
Saying it in a slightly hard manner, I return the same response.
I didn’t even tell the people of Asora, or more like, I forgot about it.
“It is the secret of a second prince. Depending on how it is used, it is a suitable ingredient to increase your position as a merchant to one or two steps higher. To utilize it in some way is natural and logical for a merchant.” (Joshua)
“…”
Ah, so that’s why.
They did ask me things like: ‘Do you have any plans in having a business in Limia?’ or ‘Don’t you have anything you wish as an accommodation for what happened before?’.
I remember those thought transmissions I got before coming here.
‘I currently don’t have any plans of opening a store in Limia, so please don’t mind it and concentrate in the reconstruction’, is what I always answered every time it happened.
“Not only did you not utilize this secret, you didn’t even speak to the nobles, and you don’t have plans on opening a store in Limia; this, I have confirmed. Honestly, it is a hard to believe answer.” (Joshua)
“It is also because of the lack of personnel, but there’s a lot of circumstances going on in Kuzunoha Company, so we can’t increase the amount of stores that readily.” (Makoto)
To tell the truth, I have a fe~w of my people doing peddling in Limia, but it is not to the point of making a store.
I was thinking about telling them this in our stay in Limia, but in terms of a store… Ah, right.
In that case, there’s the method of revealing it to prince Joshua and have her convince the nobles so they don’t go clamouring.
“I went further into thinking that you were different from a merchant, for example; a military personnel or a person that has ties with a noble, and that increased my caution even more. But after hearing Hibiki’s story and your own talk, it seems like everything was just my own imagination going wild.” (Joshua)
“About that, there’s something that I was planning on saying in time, so I was thinking about telling Joshua-sama first.” (Makoto)
“…It feels like you just thought of it though, but well, tell me.” (Joshua)
This is something that I have been thinking on who I should tell in the time I am in Limia.
It is just that I didn’t think I would be telling this to prince Joshua at this moment.
The topic itself is not something that I thought of just now.
“In the Kuzunoha Company, there’s something like an out-of-store sales, or more like a peddling unit. There’s the fact that the unit has been doing business in a small part of the settlements in Limia, and in a small scale.” (Makoto)
“Hm… I didn’t get reports of it, but I see.” (Joshua)
“It is probably not in the direct jurisdiction of the royal family, but I have received reports that we have done several transactions specially close to the borders in the territory of nobles.” (Makoto)
“And?” (Joshua)
“I was thinking about obtaining the consent of the royal family and the nobles.” (Makoto)
“Are you asking me to help you convince them?” (Joshua)
“If needed, I will also give you the reports of the sales and pay for the taxes as well, so please.” (Makoto)
The transactions don’t deal with big amounts of gold, so even if we talk about taxes, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Probably.
If necessary, I should investigate about the tax of Limia.
Prince Joshua makes a thinking expression for a while.
The time she was thinking was a lot shorter than the times she showed me a complex expression, and then, she returned her gaze to me.
“…If it’s that much, there’s no problem. It also depends on the amount of money, but I will manage the part of the tax. I promise.” (Joshua)
“That will help a lot.” (Makoto)
“At the reception, no, in the conversations a few moments ago, there were a lot of people wishing for Kuzunoha Company to open a store, right? There were people that didn’t say anything, but there were few who were opposed.” (Joshua)
“Ah, now that you mention it, yeah.” (Makoto)
“Even if there are people that wish for you to increase the scope of your business, there’s most likely none who would actively ostracizes you. Just in case, can you tell me the settlements that you know of have been in those business of yours?” (Joshua)
Saying that, prince Joshua stands up from his seat and takes out a map of Limia kingdom from the shelf.
Just that it was quite a rough map.
I can tell the territories, but I can’t tell the insides that well. It was close to being a blank map.
Only a few major points were drawn, and the paths were sparse.
Are the normal maps like this?
It is quite different from the one we normally use.
For now I just say ok, and point out the position of the settlements I have received reports of.
There’s around 20 places.
If we include the villages they have gone to only once or have only seen, the numbers would increase by a lot, so I have only mentioned the villages that we have done trades with and the name of Kuzunoha Company has resonated.
Depending on the medicine selling of the Kuzunoha Company, I mean, the peddling, some people have begun calling the Forest Onis with a sad nickname like ‘Kuzu-san’. <Kuzu means trash>
They are probably being called ‘Kuzu-san’ by the innocent kids and the elders that are enjoying their retired life. Honestly, that’s quite the psychological attack.
And in truth, when they learned of it, they were quite down.
I have heard a few times that the village heads wants to meet me, but I didn’t want to be called the boss of Kuzu-san, or the representative of Kuzu, so I haven’t gone to any of those places.
“That’s quite the number. But it looks like the number is higher in the west side.” (Joshua)
Prince Joshua writes down the places that I point out.
As a result, from the west side of Limia’s national border to the south of it had been marked here and there.
“It seems like at the west side there’s a lot of poor villages, so our people bring them goods often.” (Makoto)
“…Why? In poor villages, they won’t be able to provide you the money, right?” (Joshua)
Prince Joshua tilts her head.
Did I say something strange?
It is not like our place is selling high-class items though.
“But in poor villages, the people will need goods, right?” (Makoto)
We are only selling everyday goods and household medicine in places that are in need of those.
I don’t think that’s strange.
“Ehm…”
“What is it?” (Makoto)
It seems like prince Joshua frequently shows this kind of expression and stiffens up in silence.
It feels like she is bewildered because of meeting a mysterious being, or like she is surprised by it.
As I am not a rare animal, I am a bit sad about it.
“…No, it is true that if you are going through this kind of villages as your focus, it is understandable that the reports of the feudal lords are coming late. This is still something that hasn’t been confirmed, but I will think of a method so that Kuzunoha Company can move more freely in the Limia territory. It is something that can be done since it is only on the scale of peddling after all.” (Joshua)
“Easier to move…Like giving us a transition pass, or something like that?” (Makoto)
Like the time in the demon race territory.
“A transition pass huh. A passage permission for the highway, permission for peddling inside the country; I still don’t know what kind of form it will take. Just that, I will lend you my strength as thanks for protecting my secret.” (Joshua)
“Thanks.” (Makoto)
“By the way, what other plans do you have here, Raidou-dono?” (Joshua)
“Ah, an acquaintance of mine requested me of something, so I was thinking about going out for around half a day.” (Makoto)
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow there’s a lot of blank time.
To the point that if I were to move the plans of tomorrow to the day after, I would have one whole free day.
“To where?” (Joshua)
“The lake.” (Makoto)
“Ah, Seiko? At that place there’s a lot of people going for sightseeing, and it is close to the capital.” (Joshua)
Yeah, I did hear about that.
A big lake at the vicinities of Limia that was created by the Devil, or so to say, me.
It is receiving a relatively good amount of sightseers, and in terms of practical use, they have been receiving resources from the lake or something like that.
If I were asked if I wanted to go there, as expected, I would have to shake my head sideways.
No way I would want to go there.
“No, it is the Meiris lake. I heard that it is a famous place in the Limia kingdom.” (Makoto)
The place that Root told me is that.
I am grateful that it isn’t that far away.
Moreover, it seems like it isn’t as heavily managed like the desert of Gritonia.
“Meiris… It is certainly true that it is famous, but didn’t your acquaintance make a mistake in the place or something?” (Joshua)
“No, I am sure that person said Meiris. He said that the entrance isn’t prohibited though. Is that not the case?” (Makoto)
“That’s true. This lake is famous, and as long as we confirm the need to enter, there’s no prohibition in entering.” (Joshua)
“That’s great.” (Makoto)
A part of me was internally nervous that maybe Root was trying to create more trouble again.
I remember the face of that guy that said: ‘My joints still hurt’, as he gave me the egg.
It was an aloof smile that as always, I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
“Just that it is dangerous. It is a lake where a superior dragon and the kingdom had an agreement. It would be one thing if it’s people that are going there to test their strength or take the trials, but Raidou-dono is someone that our country has invited, and our side would prefer if you didn’t go to such a dangerous place.” (Joshua)
“…I see.” (Makoto)
Now that I think about it, the Gritonia desert was supposed to be a dangerous place as well.
It was a beautiful place, and since I was easily able to pass, I forgot about it.
Is this place also considered relatively dangerous as well?
‘It is opened to the public and there’s a beautiful lake shore, so go and have a walk around the lake when you return’, is what Root told me though.
In that case, I will have to think of a way to stealthily leave this place again huh.
“I will tell his Majesty, but please don’t expect much. If it can’t be granted, I still have a few places I want to guide you to.” (Joshua)
“I am counting on you.” (Makoto)
It is an answer that feels like it won’t work.
If I say I will be bringing Mio, will it work?
It is fine if it is Lime.
Senpai knows of his skills, so maybe I can have her give her word as well.
After that, we did casual talk and talked about the state of the business, and with nothing special happening, the talk ended.
I could tell her about the Forest Onis selling medicine, and have heard a positive answer for this.
For me, it was a beneficial meeting.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆
Joshua thought that he was a troublesome person.
It was a truly frank evaluation.
This was practically the first time Joshua had talked with Raidou properly, but she felt like he was completely different from what she imagined him to be.
(Even though it was a verbal promise, he acted as if he had formed some sort of contract. That’s something for me to be happy about, but turning it around, it would also mean that for him, verbal promises are as strong as official contracts.) (Joshua)
A deceptive promise might become an unexpected restrain.
For Raidou, there’s the need of a different standard in negotiations. Thinking this, a sigh unconsciously came out from Joshua.
(Also, his way of thinking when doing business. Even when compared to Hibiki, he is way too incomprehensible. His speech, tone, and expressions, it made me feel as if he was doing charity work or something. I do think that there’s something wrong in me for thinking that way, but it throws me off.) (Joshua)
Raidou didn’t use her secret to threaten her.
He didn’t ask for advantages in his business either.
The only thing he asked for was to give consent for the small scale peddling he did.
Even that, Joshua was doubting if he actually thought of it in advance before asking her.
(…No good. The information is way too limited, it would be better to just leave it like that. He is from the same world as Hibiki, moreover, someone that was studying at the same learning facility. I don’t think he is just an ordinary person. It is also a mystery as to why he wants to go to Meiris instead of Seiko. If possible, I would want to observe him with a subordinate of my own, but I wonder…) (Joshua)
He is not someone that can be left alone.
At that point, Hibiki, the Limia king, and prince Joshua are of the same opinion.
There was confusion after actually meeting him and talking with him, but Joshua’s root way of thinking had not changed.
The highly efficient personnel of Raidou, and the rare ability of his Company.
And also the ability of the students he taught that can overturn common sense.
All of those points are things that they are unwilling to ‘give to other countries’.
Especially Gritonia, if it were to go there, the balance in countries would crumble.
That’s why, for Joshua, no matter where she looked, Raidou was….
“What a troublesome person Raidou-dono is.” (Joshua)
Being in the middle of its reconstruction and still calling him in a hurry, does mean that Limia has ulterior motives.
From the royal family, Joshua and the King.
The hero Hibiki.
A number of quick witted nobles.
Right now they are still being docile, but Joshua expects that the merchants will be moving as well.
Tomorrow she will be dealing with those people, and moreover, she is thinking about showing him the current capital.
She filled her free time with things that had somewhat of an objective.
But if Raidou has a different request from that, even if the chances are low, she has no choice but to take it into consideration.
That request of his was also something that troubled her, and made her want to groan.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆
At the welcoming banquet, I was made to drink quite a lot, but my waking was pretty pleasant.
I conversed a bit with Senpai and her group, and the nobles asked me to try doing business in their areas no matter the scale.
His Majesty told me that he was anxious about the reconstruction of the city.
Once the support unit that went to Rotsgard returns, the reconstruction speed should increase, and there’s good materials as well, but as expected, since it is winter, there’s probably going to be more damage coming which made his Majesty feel depressed.
It won’t be like Asora that has summer tomorrow.
In this one point, the demon race got them good huh.
And in truth, if you just do one step to the big street, you can see that the situation is like that of ruins, and at the outside of the reconstructed outer walls, there’s still a lot of camps.
For me, it looked like the reconstruction of the capital was only beginning.
I am not unsensitive enough to say something like that to the people that are happy that it has advanced quite a lot, so I zipped my mouth though.
“Then I will guide Raidou-dono. Even if it costs me my life, I will assure you a safe journey. Please don’t worry.”
The journey to Meiris that I requested of prince Joshua yesterday has been granted in a strange form.
With the minimum amount of luggage, I was carrying the bag with the dragon egg, and in my front, there’s Senpai who is completely armed.
Those words just now were something that she directed to the Limia people, Mio, and Lime.
It seems like my going to the Meiris Lake has been approved, if I have the hero Hibiki go with me.
The talk was made confidentially within a limited few and approved, so there are people that have puzzled faces seeing us two going to the lake.
Or more like, I am also bewildered.
Not even in Japan I had a chance to be alone with Senpai, but this is the second time already, counting the time when we were at the room of the company.
I was incredibly bothered by Mio, but she had shockingly accepted it and stepped back easily.
She is definitely plotting something.
She even made a Root-like laugh.
Root laugh.
Actually, the one protesting was someone from the hero’s party.
It is a warrior-looking person.
If I remember correctly, it is Prince-sama.
If I am going to be resented(well, I can just separate from them in the middle), I don’t have any problems in having him accompany us though. But in the end, because of the shout of the King-sama, he gave up.
Even so, the priestess is not here.
She hasn’t opened her eyes yet?
Or could it be that she is feeling unwell and can’t come?
It is worrying since Mio is going to be staying.
When I return, I will ask about her state again.
Mio is persistent in saying that she didn’t do anything, and it didn’t feel like she was lying.
But if Mio really didn’t do anything, I don’t think the priestess would turn that way after looking at her and I.
It is true that I am ugly by this world’s standards, but even the first villager that I met in the wasteland only screamed and did a rocket dash.
…Only, huh.
No, let’s not think about that.
That’s why, even if the concealment of Sakai didn’t work and she was able to see the Magic Armor, I don’t think the priestess of the hero party that has experienced many things would faint because of it.
Just remembering it hurts.
At first, the Priestess-san looked dumbfounded, with an expression different from all the other expressions that were shown towards me.
When I looked back at her thinking it was a unique reaction, after a bit, she looked as if she had noticed something and opened her eyes really wide, her whole body trembling, and then, she went ‘kyaaa’ and falls.
Ah, it was shocking.
Even if it’s as Mio says and the Priestess-san actually did something, I want to know the circumstances.
“Have a safe trip, Waka-sama. If the Hero-sama is with you, I don’t have anything to worry about-desu wa.” (Mio)
“Be careful. Uhm, please leave the matters here to us.” (Lime)
Lime seems like he wants to say something.
Even if he says to leave the matters to them, I know that it will be hard for him to hold back Mio.
Well, they will be guided by Joshua-sama and a number of retainers to the areas close to the castle.
If they just take care in that aspect, it will probably be okay.
“I will be going. Make sure not to trouble Joshua-sama and the people of Limia, okay? If anything happens, I will leave the decision to you two, just that, try not to obstruct the reconstruction work.” (Makoto)
“Understood.” (Mio)
“Even if it costs me my life.” (Lime)
Hahaha.
Lime is imitating Hibiki-senpai. Even if you do that now, it isn’t funny.
He even has a strangely serious expression too.
When I finish today’s delivery, even if I pass the time being washed around by the other party, there won’t be any problems in Limia.
I was unexpectedly able to speak with Senpai today so, how to say it, Limia is working well.
It feels like it will be more comfortable than the other tours in the foreign countries.
On our journey and at our arrival, there still hasn’t been any unreasonable happening since coming here.
Gritonia is a major power as well, and since I had a preconceived notion that the nobles were oppressive, I probably misunderstood Limia.
“Well then, let’s go Raidou-dono.” (Hibiki)
“I am counting on you today, Hibiki-sama.” (Makoto)
I thought that it would be bad to call Hibiki with -senpai, so I tried using -sama instead.
Senpai didn’t seem to mind me changing my way of addressing her, she just nodded lightly and rode her horse first and began moving towards the Meiris Lake.
I turn around once to Mio who was waving at me, and then, I quickly follow after Senpai.
If it’s Senpai, she will probably let me go alone if I just tell her the circumstances.
Now that I think about it, things like: ‘Give me that person’ and ‘Show me your power’, happened at Gritonia, and reminds me that I had gone to a problematic country.
It is one of the few tasks I have to do in Limia, so let’s quickly deliver this egg.

      1. Ehm… I think that would still be off. In this case:
“, your Joshua-sama’s attire” is incorrect, as there is a possessive pronoun followed by the possessive noun. “Your attire” or “Joshua-sama’s attire” would mean the same thing.
So the proper way of saying it would be either
“Right, speaking of surprises, your attire.”
        or
“Right, speaking of surprises, Joshua-sama’s attire”
Lastly, you could also say it like this:
“Right, speaking of a surprise, Joshua-sama’s attire” (Or use ‘your’ instead of ‘Joshua-sama’s’)
        Thanks for the chapter!~
P.S. What is this sorcery?! I’ve replied 3 times in relative closeness on chapter releases! How unusual for the usual silent lurking that I do.

      1. Truck says it’s not a minor.
So, uhm… I’m letting this one pass.
*…psst. Nepu, come over. I need your help to… err.. erase something. *

  2. LOL LOL LOL. It’s just like my friend said. It’s such a long-ass chapter that even Mr.Reigokai takes 4 days to translate it 😀
Even longer than a new step 😀

      1. Siempre que veo este tipo de comentarios me hacen pensar que son hechos por esa gente que le encanta cagarte la vida…

    1. Grittonian is just “in your face” with their brand of trouble, it seems like Limia is the “shadow war” kind of trouble, but I can’t tell if Makoto would notice if he was being shunned there….

  3. Thanks for the chapter! I can’t wait to see what happens next chapter, will it be similar to the situation in the white desert where he speeds off astonishing his guide?

    1. It’s Hibiki this time, he might feel bad about ditching her in the middle of nowhere…he’ll probably limit himself to whatever her highest speed is, like you do when you race against children.

  4. Thank you for your hard work as always. I do have a question though, wasn’t there a mini-tomoe in the earlier chapters? what happened? I don’t have the time nor the energy to look it up myself you see. Again, thank you for translating this series, and I do hope you’d continue providing us these quality translations.

    1. You’re probably thinking of Komoe-chan? Unfortunately Komoe-chan one died because of the hyumans that tried to escape Asora. Komoe-chan two is somewhere in Asora. Last time was when she was with the tree onis I believe?

    2. I could be wrong, but the first generation of mini-Tomoe doesn’t has a name/Makoto didn’t gave her one. He start calling the mini-Tomoe as Komoe from the 2sc generation. And the last she being mentioned is when the banana fruit showed up in Asora, Makoto take a look of it and realize that Forest Oni, Komoe, Ema, and some Highland Orc have dreadfull expression because they didn’t get/know where “the seed” of the banana is.

        1. Might be a little harsh. He does have one thing going for him at least. He’s not on the level of Ichika from Infinite Stratos. That moron is probably dumber than a goblin.

      1. *no self-esteem. You could raise low self-esteem by beating several Ancient Dragons, defeating Demon Generals and founding a country. He has no self-esteem and lives in this weird alternative reality in which getting high marks in standardized tests and being born a couple of montha earlier counts for much more than any of that

        1. Exactly. How would someone not have a high evaluation of themselves after doing something only gods can? Or going even in a match against a goddess? I have always made the case that Death March is a bad novel, because of how the MC just strolls through the story without facing ANY conflict at all, but this one here is becoming something else… The author says Misumi is a high school student, then he either has a low IQ, equalling that of a potato, or is actually lying about his age and is 8 years old.

      2. “he’s always underestimating himself”
-Heard that his senpai when reach to this world, she has “necessity” to fight knight leader. When beat up some Superior Dragon and made her his slave after 3 days taking stroll on desert.
-Always bring out “i want to punch goddess in the face” but always make pitiful comment and label toward himself because “it’s nothing much”
yes, this kid have a loose brain.

    1. He pretty much just goes with the flow.
Is largely in denial and willfully ignorant.
And worst of all, he does learn, and then almost immediately forgets the lessons he learned.
He’s not stupid, he just refuses to sit down and look into the situation he is in.

  5. It is true that I am ugly by this world’s standards, but even the first villager that I met in the wasteland only screamed and did a rocket dash.
    …Only, huh.
No, let’s not think about that.
No you fools ! Think ! Use your head once in a while, you just hit a jackpot with that line of reasoning…..
Sometimes I want to smack his empty head with paper fan…
    Thanks for the chapter

    1. I don’t think it’s naivety now. Most of the time, it feels like Makoto is purposely doing this. He wants to be a normal person so much that when he starts a line of thought that contradicts that conclusion, he forcefully derails it and stops thinking about it. Although, some things have become abnormal without his knowing, like his sense of danger.

      1. Should have make Hibiki stay in Limia if he wants to be normal… considering the prince Joshua concern, to extent send Hibiki ‘guarding’ him the waterfall lair are not less dangerous than Sandwave harsh environments.
This man really taking light of his power, I wonder how Hibiki saw him after this trip and I can bet Makoto will just walking leisurely while Hibiki trying so hard just to catch up to him.

        1. He probably doesn’t think anything of it because she’s from the same world as he is. He probably didn’t notice the overwhelming weakness of Tomoki because he was so pissed off. Right now, he’s probably thinking that there won’t be a problem.

      2. The most frustrating part in the story is watching Makoto wondering about things, that he would know if he spent 5 minutes thinking about shit, or if he’s feeling lazy, asking Tomoe, Mio and Shiki.
He has enough power that he can get away with his behaviour, but it does make for a frustrating read.

      3. i know, right?! it’s really disturbing but at the same time really pique your curiousity, Xd.
I took it from fb page, and they didn’t provided the source. When i try to search for the source there no decent answer, but it lead to me to think it’s “Goth” manga.

      4. I thought that he did realize that he was much stronger than the heroes and their respective nations, because I’m pretty sure that in one of the earlier chapters he stated something about their actions being pretty much inconsequential towards him? I can’t remember which chapter but I’m almost 100% certain that he thought or said something along these lines.

      5. I know that this is a somewhat old comment thread now but I found the chapter in which Makoto shows his understanding of the fact that he is, at least powerwise, much higher than the heroes and their nations. There are to parts of chapter 179, the one where he lays the smackdown on Trashmoki for asking for Tomoe. The first being, “Even senpai was unable to notice much of my power, so I don’t think this thing can notice it.
Even if he is really the one that created that crater, that level of threat is no danger at all.” and the second being,”No, frankly speaking, the war itself is not a threat for Kuzunoha Company or Asora. That’s why, whether it is Tomoe or Shiki, they probably won’t say much to me about this.
Because no matter what happens, the difference would be like using my left leg instead of my right to kick a small pebble.
It is ‘troublesome’, so it is a war I don’t want to get involved with though.” So I definitely think he had realized he’s leagues above them, it’s just that it’d be too bothersome for him to really involve himself in gaining their ire.

    2. I dont know why he is reasoning that, he clearly get answer why he get attacked because of his freaking magic power aura not just because of his appearance.

      1. My money on “denial” symptoms.
He unconsciously denied that he is so scary that normal hyuman has to run when they saw him. I do remember in manga he become pretty traumatised because that one event.

      2. Im gonna laughing very loud and hard when someone from Asora die again, and he began to reflect his action(again), but after 2 week he’s just “being Makoto” again.
Yes, the denial symptoms of Makoto really happen he unconsciously do it, like the earlier chapter with his “human discrimination”.

  6. That reminds me that Makoto was supposed to be the hero, but because his appearance is below the standard of the Bug, he was thrown into that world just like that, huh?
And ummm~ there is no unsensitive, it’s insensitive…

    1. That extra chapter got me rethinking the first encounter, and it could be that tsundere Goddess tossed him out of the way for his safety. After all, she did give him the ability to communicate with “anything” he might possibly run into there. Middle of monster country also means that there aren’t any hyumans to stab you in the back.

      1. Am having a hard time seeing her care that much for Makoto. Considering how childish she is, she could have could have dropped him in the waste land because she was still mad at his parents.

      2. Cesar C reasoning is valid, I cannot imagine that bug have any concern for hyuman after what she have done.
Big mistake though, Makoto has been unconsciously training/fighting for his life from the time he still infant, and Tsukuyomi also choose him based on how much suitable he is for hero role(power) it means among three sibling he is the strongest one.

      3. now that you mention it, when makoto’s parent goes away from goddess world, she seems to be sulking pretty hard that she neglects her duty. if we take a possitive way of thinking, does that mean that the goddess just doesn’t want the kid of the reason she sulk to tidy up the mess like she accept her defeat?
that doesn’t explain why she threw makoto against the dragonslayer

        1. She threw him at Sophia because he’s disposable, and while it’d have been great if he won, she was only looking for (and expecting) him to be a simple and short distraction.

      4. I absolutely disagree with any notion that the goddess has good intentions towards Makoto.
The extra chapter established that she isn’t really malicious, so much as just incompetent as a deity. Let’s see…what series of words would suit her best…
She’s childish, shallow, callous, narcissistic, and above all, self-centered to the point of being incapable of empathy(though this last trait is common among gods).

          1. Thanks, i just read the chapter… I tend to skip extra though… Anyway Makoto was half demon? Was it because of this that he has such enormous power? Or perhaps something to do with the Bug when she threw Makoto in the wasteland?

          2. He’s the second born, and it’s been twenty years, he was born five years or so later, so I don’t think he could be half demon. Besides, we don’t know how long it took his parents to get good, as the saying goes, before they completed the Goddess’ trials.
Most likely it’s like Tsukuyomi pointed out, Makoto was just the best at adapting to Earth.

          3. Ahh~ i really forgot about this… But really? The power to adapt? Nothing else? It’s not convincing at all, i mean there must be something else mixed with the adaptation thing…

          4. It may be both his adaptability and his parents. Elder sister was born while they were still blessed by the Goddess, and she inherited a blessing. The younger sister was born long after they grew used to the environment on Earth. So Makoto was born completely unprotected, right after losing their protection before building up an immunity, and has been surviving and adapting since birth.

          5. Yea, but still, the later chapter says something is lurking inside him, as if it wants to break free… Perhaps that is the source or one of the source of his power? But still adaptability alone doesn’t sound convincing, there must be another factor…

    2. For the matter of Makoto being the actual Hero from the earliest chapter, WAS NOT HIBIKI AND TOMOKI ALREADY IN THE GODDESS WORLD? when Makoto being summoned, and when she saw him, she brand him with “you are ugly” and throw him desert/wasteland.
I remember that the each three of them have slight month with the transfer time, and Makoto is last. So, from the extra chapter, is not Makoto just an extra, she just demand him to come to her world because his parent deal with her and from the start there’s no role for Makoto to be hero.
*I think Tsukoyomi even said that he’s the actual hero, that;s why sometime this thing make me slightly confused when i remembered it.

      1. It was surfaced in my mind as the possibilities.
Makoto being thrown to wasteland from his actual Hero position, just because he has a “normal” face for human is unpleasing to think about, but with how thing turned out, im kind of glad which made myself feel bad, Xd.

      2. They were taken out of Earth about at the same time as Makoto, since the goddess didn’t really want him. The reason they appeared in the other world before Makoto is due to the flow of time not being followed equally between worlds. What I mean is that they left Earth at the same but appeared in different time periods in the other world. Like what Root explained when it comes to travelling between worlds. Except that in this case it was more in control(time period wise) since it was done by gods.

      3. It took a while for the goddess to pick Makoto up after Tsukuyomi established the tunnel, as mentioned by Tsukuyomi. This was because she was grabbing Hibiki and Tomoki while Tsukuyomi had his back turned. It all happened in the same night.

      4. ^okay, i get what you’re saying. I really miss this possibility because we deal with the gods, so my common sense didn’t reach this conclusion. I’m not fond time travel or time on movie of novel, because it;s make me really tired when think about it(it’s weird, i watch all x-men movie, w/o really understand the mechanical about what happen, im just go with flow)
And this is also one of Makoto “make the misfortune to be fortune” things, i think.

      5. I think i need to read it again… i vaguely remember the talk about Makoto being a hero and talk about the other heroes… But i forgot who was first to be summoned…

  7. “…Only, huh.” Yeah, that’s it!don’t be so dense my little lamb… XD
Thanks for the nice chapter… (even if i like Makoto blakmail the prince… Muahahahahaha… :P)

    1. ….. that’s very nice blackmail.
It almost like how I ask my friend to lend me his homework when I forgot mine, and don’t worry I will treat you later.
If anything Makoto just raising the flag even higher with Joshua.

  8. Thanks~
(Even though it was a verbal promise, he acted as if he had formed some sort of contract. That’s something for me to be happy about, but turning it around, it would also mean that for him, verbal promises are as strong as official contracts.) (Joshua)
Sorry princess you are just overthinking it. He just thinks your secret is so mundane that he forgot about it… wait that’s even worse! Then again I kind of forgot about it too.

    1. Although she’s not wrong about how he views verbal promises. She needs to keep that in mind and inform the nobles of her country if she doesn’t want them all erased because of some small miscommunication and misconception.

  9. Oh yeah…it’s indirectly because of Makoto that the other two heroes are here at all, huh? I completely didn’t realize that.
Well, something tells me that neither of them resent coming to this world as much as he does though.
And the other matter…High School, huh? Truly a terrifying place that wears on the souls of all who go there, polishing their various abilities and expanding their knowledge all the while.

    1. No it’s not his fault. The goddess would’ve done what she did regardless. There’s absolutely no reason for Makoto to feel guilty. That thought actually made me want to punch him for it, it was so stupid.

      1. well…. its so Makoto-like though. In a way, because he needs to go to that world, the goddess have the chance to take both of them so he kinda feel bad about it.

        1. That’s between those three, Makoto has nothing to do with it. Do you also want to blame Tsukuyomi for opening the tunnel between the worlds while your at it? I guarantee that bitch would’ve forced the tunnel open through some back door if he’d said no. She intended to nab humans along with the child of the Misumi family from the beginning. And yes, I did read the extra chapter about her and that deal with Makoto’s parents. And no, it didn’t change my opinion of her at all. She’s a failure as a goddess, and deserves to have her rank and power stripped from her. If we were talking about the leader of a country, we’d be agreeing to switch them with someone else, so I don’t see how knowing her feelings on the matter changes anything. If anything, it makes it worse because she allowed her personal feelings to interfere with her work. Two people didn’t want to live in her world anymore? So she slept and sulked for almost twenty years because of the bad mood their decision put her in? Two people were able to do that to her?! How the fuck does that make what she did to Makoto alright? And that’s even assuming that she only did that because she was still upset about the whole incident, which I doubt.

      2. Though I’m still on the side of the bug-goddess-hating committee, I interpreted that slumber of hers was caused by using too much of her powers. She did give Makoto’s parents blessing in order to survive on Earth.

      3. Still I like him for still honor his promise to Tsukuyomi sama, even when he hates Tomoki to the bone, he states that he will lend him hand even if that’s just as measly as he can, if it were me I will secretly destroy his harem just for revenge for Tomoe.

      4. Oh yeah. The responsibility for their kidnappings are entirely on Bug. But I’m just saying that Makoto is the cause for that opening she had.
It’s sort of like being the Taxi driver who turns out to have driven a mad bomber to his target location. Not at all his fault, but there’s a relation and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to feel a little guilty since that’s human nature.

      5. @coatl45.
Yes, all you said is corrent. I the real world there’s no “Tsundere” but there’s emotion that could shaping our decision which it anger, shame/humiliation, disappointment, etc and there’s also a simple feeling of “denial to our mistake”(before the feeling of you are actually make the mistake yourself, the feeling of denial reach you first, and it’s make that “you are not wrong/you didn’t make any mistake/it’s even mistake in the first place, it’s FACT for you. And this is what Goddess always be, just read chapter when the Goddess kidnap Makoto the second time, and they make a deal for an example.
How high the position doesn’t matter, a position is a position and you have responsibility for any error that happpen under the “rulling” of you. And the goddess is fail to every aspect of being a leader, and she make decision based almost from her mood/feeling alone.
Makoto treatment to the “verbal promise” as important as official contract, on every essence is good thing, but he has tendenct to screw up the big one, like Rona.

    2. I kinda want the heroes to confront him and talk about how their the chosen ones because they were picked as heroes by the goddess of this world. Then he’ll tell them how he was the intentional summon(intentional hero) and they are actually victims(kidnapped, enticed, and deceived).

    3. If you remember Root’s conversation then heroes are summon in that world when they needed and right now bug’s world needed hero because of demon invasion so even if there was not makoto she still would have summon them, makoto is just finding any excuse to blame himself for many things.

  10. I had a inkling but it seem it wasn’t Mio but Makoto who scared her to death. And by the way after having read the chapter about the parents and after rereading all the previous chapter I can say that there actually are a vew tsundere line from here especially in the second encounter.

    1. She saw normal Raidou, with a bit of haze around him, then turned on her truesight to see it resolve into an armor, and then the armor turned into a monster chewing a dragon while looking back at her…or she saw a cloud around him, but looking above him noticed it was just the tip of a tornado following in his wake…could have been anything, really. A bunny or duck type optical illusion, but with world scouring storms or nuclear explosions hidden in the image.

      1. My head canon is that when she saw Makoto, she could only sense nothingness. So she used her new ability and saw ∞, since her mind could not handle the concept it began to collapse. In order to save itself it shut down, thus causing her to faint.

  11. Thank you kindly for this chapter and the hard work you provide sir !
I hope Makoto will stop being so naive when it comes to Hibiki, it’s pretty annoying to see his growth shackled by his “Hibiki is my senpai” thing >:[ That damn manipulative woman and! let’s believe in Mio’s plan to get rid of this nuisance!

    1. Honestly I don’t see Hibiki as being any better or worse than Zef. Both have great charisma as leaders. Both have a vision of how the world should be, and are willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve it, even up to the point of throwing away somebody precious to them (Chiya, Sari).
Unfortunately, their visions involve ethnic cleansing of each other. If that weren’t true, I bet that they would get along quite well.

      1. Yeah, I’ve always seen Zef and Hibiki as foils ever since they were introduced. That’s why I would love to see a hypothetical scene where Makoto mediates a meeting between the two of them.

      2. But there’s plus of point of Zef that Hibiki doesn’t have.
Zef : I chose bloodpath way to save my kin from the prejudice treatment of Goddess and Hyuman. I know i use any dirty way to have my goal accomplished for the future of my kin. Yes, i know im wrong and cruel. You can curse me, or loathing me from the bottom of your heart, It is me and my people way of life to avoid our race from extinction. ON YOUR FACE.
For Hibiki line, you could imagine it yourself, from your own perspective.

    2. Hibiki is probably what will Makoto grow to be if he does not have a huge surplus of power. In a way, she’s a very template-hero with power of friendship and summon complete with a streak of intelligence. She’s kind and naive also at first before a lot of development happening, probably on volume 1 or 2 when she stop being naive. If we are on another novel, we will probably be okay with her following her adventure of grinding, beating impossible odds, and make world a better place bit-by-bit as a realist hero.
In contrast, Tomoki is what Makoto will be if Makoto goes with harem route and Dark Hero path without a huge surplus of power. Except the princess will open up more to him and he will probably fall in love with the princess

  12. YES! AHAHAHA! They finally said it! Makoto turned his students into the official classification of “Little Common Sense Breakers”.
I don’t know why this single detail is so important to me, but I did a weird little fist pump-dance because of it.

    1. It’s not that common sense which you are imagining. Hyuman fight with their sheer power without tactics and such. Great example how magician were fighting in tournament. Makoto teach them to use their brain and use tactics which break hyumans common sense.

      1. I believe this came up back when we first saw the students development, but this becomes an interesting case of Makoto making his students stronger somehow by…giving them Common Sense?
Or rather, replacing their weak-sauce CS with his own.

      1. Without even really understanding what gravity is.
Just wait until they hand him some physics school books.
Makoto really should try to get the earth gods trade him some books.
Texts in physics, chemistry, botany and politics mainly, possibly add some engineering manuals and treatises on (especially historical, but also modern) tactics/strategy.
Sure, he might not get much out of them, but you can bet Shiki, Tomoe, Eldwas, and his students, would do miracles with some hints.

        1. If I remember correctly, Earth is special particularly because it uses knowledge this way without relying on magic or divine blessings.
So it’s possible not even gods know the finer details of sciences.

          1. Ah, but Makoto just so happens to personally know Athena herself. If any god understands modern philosophy, it’ll be the goddess of wisdom herself.

      2. the gods don’t need to know anything, just grab some copies from the closest book store, or have some of their servants make hand written copies.

  13. Thanks for the translation!
For those that don’t understand, “kuzu” can also means “trash” as in adjective “trash”. The forest Onis were down because they are called “trash” by the kids. And how did the forest onis understand the meaning of kuzu, makoto probably told them.

    1. Probably because he continues to view himself as weak or similar to the person in front of him, thus causing him to fail in understanding since he’s in a different league.

  14. Is it time for another Common Sense breaking session again?
This week’s episode, we will have a special guest~
Since our show this week will take place in the beautiful and currently-being-rebuilt Kingdom of Limia, our guest can be none other that their very own, Sword swinging, Limit Break Beast-Battle-Bikini Wearing, Senpai of our host, Miss Hibiki from Earth~!
Give her a round of applause~
Now everyone, under your seats are Max Potions~
Take them and get ready to throw them at Hibiki’s CS [Common Sense]~
Don’t worry, it’s been partially broken before so it’s resistant, but we never know when something will go wrong~
To the viewers out there through the Royal Broadcasting Orbs, Tune in next episode~

    1. Max Potion !? B*tch please Alice ! YOU NEED THE GODDAMN YAGOKORO HOURAI ELIXIR ! Its guaranted to heal you even revive you ! side effect might vary though but well… ITS FOR SCIENCE !

      1. The problem with Pokemon is that no matter how brutal or humiliating a defeat, a mon will always continue fighting no worse for wear save for a slight dislike towards their leader.
PTSD isn’t really a status affliction they’re equipped to treat. I recommend Ni no Kuni magic. 😀

  15. Welp. Cue people complaining about Makoto underestimating himself again. I’ll admit, even though I’m normally fine with it, it came up hard enough this chapter to bug me a little this time.
Shall we do a denseness counter?
    1. Saying he wouldn’t be able to match up with Hibiki (though it might just be lip service in the comments related to power).
    2. “Only the merchant exam”.
    3. Not thinking anything of Chiya’s reaction to him other than “How shocking.”
    4. “Hahaha. That joker Lime, talking about how he’ll stake his life on not troubling Lima.”
Feel free to tack on anything I’ve forgotten.
That said…this stupid-peaceful side of him is also kinda sweet. Makoto is more or less doing charity work with Kuzunoha, even after all that’s happened, huh? I wonder if he even wants to do it anymore or if it’s just following through with a past commitment.

    1. he thinks he wouldn’t be able to match her since he probably thinks senpai is a very smart and manipulative person and she have better foresight than him…. its just that what he thinks is a normal logic is probably 200 steps foresight ahead for Hibiki….

      1. No, in terms of foresight and planning, Hibiki probably surpasses Makoto.
The thing with Makoto is that he holds an overwhelming resource and power advantage that no amount of any silly riajuu/ikemen skills can compensate for.

    2. 1) To be fair, he’s kinda right in that regard. If we compare Earth Hibiki and Earth Makoto, the only thing he could lord over her is his ability in archery and probably his diligence( if that counts as something that could lord over someone). Am using the Earth comparison because Makoto still holds and acts on the values of Earth.
2)If am remembering correctly, that exam seem to composed of basic-intermediate math and business related question. So for a high school student, that exam should be fairly easy.
      3)…
      4)… *sighs*

      1. In matters outside pure power, Hibiki probably is superior to Makoto.
While good at concentrating when he chooses, and an expert archer, Makoto has shown himself, if not rather dim, atleast very intellectually lazy in matters outside his immediate interests.
It’s not that he can’t think, he simply chooses not to (which i find even more annoying in some ways), so while he might, with effort and training, match wits with Hibiki, he chooses instead to just lay down, raise the white flag and play a doormat.
He has taken quite well to combat tactics training, so he can’t be complete moron, but, again, that is something that interests him, and from what we’ve seen, hyuman tactics are fucking horrible, so almost anyone from earth who has so much as seen someone play strategy games would probably be hailed as a genius, as long as they were not a complete moron.

      2. @J4n1 pure power … hmm that’s difficult question
But if in term of physical+magic, Makoto has clear advantages as tsukuyomi said, he is hyuman that has been trained in harsh planet called earth, and his magic potential is way higher than human.
        So let’s divide it
        In Magic – Makoto wins
In physical power… I don’t know, we don’t have clear parameter how good Hibiki on our earth.
But Makoto is on world class archery master (he can hit two arrow in same spot, robin hood style) and as we discussed before archery are not light sport, those string are friggin heavy, so unless Hibiki on same level with Makoto I can speculate he is actually stronger.

        1. I’m pretty sure Makoto outclasses the heroes in physical power as well. At least in the beginning.
If you recall, Makoto beat Shen during their fight with uppercuts and all sorts of physical attacks on top of his magic.

      3. @jinsan
Even in phyiscal power Makoto is insane.
Day 1 he was dropped from a huge height and survived without a scatch. He punched around a superior dragon Shin “The Invincible” with pure physical strenght too.
He managed to block the dragon slayer’s full strenght suprise beheading with just his hands, admittely at the cost of his fingers.

      1. Isn’t he in a consistent state of using sekai to conceal his armor? He’s enemy sensing ability should be like the average person if he’s not using sekai to search for enemies.
This causes me to question his diligence. Root told him that he relies on his search function of sekai too much and he should train to develop a natural search ability, but he hasn’t shown any attempt to do that.

    1. ” Just be weary of that dragon”, got your message loud and clear.* walks outside* Guys bring out the extra large grill, we’re having superior dragon steak tonight.

  16. Thanks for the chapter unfortunately I was too late for 1st comment hmmm…
Hibiki that b**** gave out makoto’s secret (kind of a secret) , I mean makoto doesn’t mind because he thinks it wont inconvenience him but Hibiki who knows too little of his power more than likely knows how she can exploit it and is taking caution before doing so. For those of you who don’t understand let me tell you this, imagine a rumor or more like a supported fact by one of the heroes or maybe two that a third hero was summoned, now imagine people knowing at first glance why makoto wasn’t chosen… At that time I can imaging people doing a witch hunt trying to cast out the rat the goddess threw, at that time makoto would need to show his power. And this same b**** drew up a plan that we will maybe see in the limia arc and expected lime to tell about the priestess secret but was disappointed when he really did, I mean I understand that she held some hope if he didn’t then she could still pull him but still she pisses me off.
Anyways hope makoto x joshua slips past tomoe’s radar.

    1. If Makoto had even tiny bit of scheming ability, he could have used this to his advantage.
He should have told them that the hero is drawing conclusions from a limited set of facts, and then not elaborate further, at some later point drop the fact that he is descended from Kaleneon nobility into a random conversation, just keep people guessing at just wtf is going on.

      1. wait aren’t nobles suppose to go down with their territory. His father who abandoned his post and his mother the demon lover… I think those two wouldn’t work to his advantage but it might actually stop the mobs coming at him because only other nobles can judge him and tell him to commit suicide or assassins to be sent to him or if he’s lucky they will just look down on him.

        1. Actually, his parents abandoned Kaleneon before the war started, so the only crime they committed according to hyumans is his mother having an affair with a demon.

      2. You show almost Makoto level lack in imagination there.
It’s not about the social position, but about the confusion.
Knowledge is power, and by controlling what his opponents know, and what they don’t, gives Makoto power.
Number of true, but ultimately misleading, facts about him can be used to build a myth of a larger than life organization (Kuzunoha) and it’s mysterious leader with unknown abilities (Makoto).
He travels through unknown means, has servants more potent than armies, he trades with hyuman and demon alike, and even greater dragons have regular dealings with him.
If he had any drive or ambition to actually make anything of Kuzunoha beyond a small medicine dispenser, or ensure that he does not get swamped by petty nobles demands, he could easily create a myth around himself to discourage intervention, aid him in whatever goal he chooses to work towards and shroud his secrets from any prying eyes in one go.

      3. Almost forgot this one:
GODS come to him, both as clients and guests.
The Goddess herself was, in time of need, forced to pay him for his services.
Now imagine what he could do with that little factoid being spread around amongst the nobility.

      4. “Knowledge is power, and by controlling what his opponents know, and what they don’t, gives Makoto power.”
Here’s the thing, Makoto doesn’t need or even want any more power.
Your first reaction is probably to just brush this comment aside but I think it’s quite important to consider.

      5. “Here’s the thing, Makoto doesn’t need or even want any more power.”
Yes, but “doesn’t need” is not the same as “can’t use”.
Makoto has basicly a brute force type of power, but he needs subtler power if he wants to operate in global scale without either brute forcing everything through intimidation, or having to deal with idiots trying to force/bribe/seduce him into their faction, or make an elaborate theater like he did in the mutant apocalypse pretending the sword was source of teleportation.
He should try to widen his options, because so far he is one trick pony.

        1. ” if he wants to operate in global scale ” And sadly thats the thing with Makoto he doesn’t want to operate in a global scale, he is not corncened with profit, or levarege over people or nations, he only wants to do what he please with out bumping head with people.

      6. “He should have told them that the hero is drawing conclusions from a limited set of facts”
        I don’t understand
what is that supposed to mean?

      7. [“He should have told them that the hero is drawing conclusions from a limited set of facts”
        I don’t understand
what is that supposed to mean?]
It means that the hero, while right on somethings, does not know everything so her conclusions can’t be fully trusted.

  17. I think it’s hilarious that both Sari and Joshua are apparently more scared of dealing with an honest person than with a corrupt politician.
It’s as if the concept “treat him fairly and honestly” is anathema to them.

    1. For politicians, it is. As the great Captain Jack Sparrow once said, a corrupt person can always be expected to do what’s best for themselves, but an honest person, now that’s scary. You never know what an honest person is going to do.

      1. They don’t have the authority to command him, power to force him or money to bribe him.
He is as controllable as a hurricane, and lot harder to prepare for or hide from.
Only option Limia has is to hope they never manage to piss him off.

    2. To be fair, that’s hardly how the world works.
And more importantly, as illustrated in Joshua’s evaluation here, an honest person expects honesty to be returned. That means that Makoto seems easier to offend than others in a lot of ways…

  18. Thanks for the chapter!
Makoto & Joshua remind me of this old Gary Larson cartoon: http://i.imgur.com/aYrLvq5.jpg
Regarding Makoto’s denseness, I think this line is really important: I decided to do so because of my own circumstances, and yet, I am regretting it even now. It confirms what Tomoe said a few chapters ago, namely that Makoto just doesn’t want to be in this world (or in Asora) and would return back to Japan immediately if he could. For him, everything he has built here – Asora, Kuzunoha Company, his teaching job – are all basically stuff he did while held prisoner, homework in a not-so-favorite subject. And so his creativity just isn’t engaged, especially with the Goddess’s favorites the hyumans.
By the way, I seem to remember a chapter a while back in which it was implied that Chiya as well as Hibiki were immune to Tomoki’s charm, but others in her party (Naval?) were not. Does anybody remember when that happened?

      1. Chapter 68 it was:

“I… I am in the same mind as Hibiki. I didn’t like something about him. I feel like that person is different from Onee-chan”
The girl called Hibiki, thinking that she would be disproved by everyone else, one voice of support called out. A shadow that is smaller than the other shadows. A voice that one could tell it is young.
“So the only ally I have is Chiya-chan huh~. There’s no need to worry, I won’t be putting my personal feelings in the battlefield. Then let’s go for dinner and then sleep. We are going to attack at late night right?” (Hibiki)

That puts Chiya on a higher level than Sofia, who got charmed by Tomoki, doesn’t it? Being able to resist Tomoki’s ability makes Chiya look worthy of promotion from the “C” team to the “B” team.

        1. No, you see, Sofia and Chiya (and Hibiki) met Tomoki at different times.
It’s because his charm didn’t work on those girls or Tomoe that Tomoki trained up his skill to the point of being able to affect Sofia.

  19. For “Kuzu-san” is that the same meaning as title “Kuzu no honkai” ?
If yes, i feel bad for forest oni that been call like that by child with innocent smile.

  20. Thanks for the chapter~ 🙂
Spoiler-san said: “It’ll hillarious to see Hibiki expression after the Waterfall dragon hatching from its egg later”

  21. misunderstand, misunderstanding everywhere~ , when you think someone trying to destroy the world but actually he only think what’s for breakfast….saitama level hahaha. but seriously this series making every kingdom kings and noble like a fool….investigating about kuzunoha and makoto….but getting nowhere when actually you at least can measure kuzunoha power with just talking with adventurer from tsige especially Toa group(i’m looking at you stupid hibiki, you barely won against Toa) and makoto student(this brats with just three month training already can defeat hopelace*demon version when rostgard academy elite magician getting slaughtered)

    1. No, they can’t. The student will probably testify that they still get slaughtered by Raidou’s low-middle-rank followers in power bringing only 10% of its seriousness. They will also say that they cannot even touch Shiki which he says is weaker than Raidou. Interview with Tsige adventurers will probably at most return their level in fear of retalliation and even when they know the level so they multiply Sofia’s battle prowess by 10 for Mio and Tomoe, they still will find it hard to believe since any more multiplication will means that Raidou himself has bigger power than the entire hyuman army. Even demon’s CIA biggest overestimation cannot touch his real power and before reaching that, they already give up estimating since they cannot play any hands at all anyway. Its like they are punching themselves the more they knew about Raidou and he does not even have to do anything special.

      1. well that’s what i mean by fool, logically if they know even the tip you barely can see already dangerous…you need to be cautious with the rest..the demon understand this and trying to win makoto’s favor, on the other hand limia still treat kuzunoha just like some strong mercenary corps while actually they at the level of WMD.
funnily i think mio describing makoto accurately…he is just like a cat…no principle and almost no logic can explain why he’s doing what he do…as a merchant he’s not greedy enough as charity worker he’s too detached, The problem makoto’s a cat that sleeping beside a nuke launch button hahaha

      2. Fun fact about cat :
They are cute (no shit sherlock)
        They always have no agenda
They do want they want, when they want (egoistical selfish bastard)
They don’t care about the surrounding ….. Except when you try to snatch it’s toy, that means war
And the most important fact, they are devil.
So let’s take out the first point because It’s been reserved by madam Mio.

So yeah, Makoto is a cat.

  22. izzit just me or does the starting of the chapter seems kinda hard to read. anyway thanks for the translation. princess chan think too much raidou is a simpleton lol. I hope he swat away another dragon again this time round in the lake to make hibiki shit herself lol

  23. Aaaahn….I hoped to see Joshua blushing schene…😫😫😫
But it seems that she don’t see Makoto in that way…JUST RAISE HER FLAG!!!!
Between all the hyuman heroine she’s the only one that I approve…If not be man and make Tomoe and Mio your Women( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    1. Thankfully she didn’t reject Makoto, Joshua told him “this is not the place to change the subject with flattery”.
I’m expecting something because she is my favorite character outside Asora.

    1. Many of what we learn in highschool now days, were university subjects in older eras. Or haven’t been tought of yet. Though like me, most of us that are now working had probably forgotten many of what we learned in high school, since we don’t use them in our everyday lives or at work.
So a highschool student or one freshly graduated from highschool, would have an advantage in book knowledge compared to their surroundings if they were transported to a more primitive era.

  24. I’m sort of hoping hibiki tries something or they try to attack lime and mio and makoto just wipes the floor with them-.-
I’m still unhappy with hibiki’s ‘subtle’ manipulation of makoto and his utter idol worship of her -.-

  25. Thanks for the chapt!! Finally!! Ive been waiting!
Is there a rebellion coming perhaps?? Or maybe Hibiki will now see some awesomeness and meh~~ prince joshua’s name didnt change. The author might’ve never liked the name “josephine” maybe. Wonder if she looked like a blonde busty babe.
So having a free pass to other border in limia is hard to get. Now we know how corrupt the church is in the limia border amd those wanting for kuzunoha to open must be from the church sides to way i see it.

    1. She is female, but crossdressing as a Man. And it’s made other people that saw/met her didn’t realize anything strange from her.
I think she has “Bishounen” figure kind of character. She is “handsome” but when she put a normal cloth for girl she is cute(Makoto statement), and don’t forget that Makoto still could feel one from “two mountain” of her which mean that she is not flat! Xd

  26. Thanks 4 the chapter!
Well, detailed map in medieval times are state secrets, so it’s unsurprising that the map shown has little in the way of details.

  27. Somebody Puch his face,Damm Makoto you little bitch was wrong with you , even little kids have more dignity.
    Thanks for this chapter

  28. Gee, I can’t ever get into the top five. I liked the chapter. However, there is a limit to how dense Makoto is. He definitely can’t see or read these females hearts or wiles. Can’t read the mood or emotions at all. He should have been granted Esper abilities. Maybe then he would get a clue.

  29. Should we be helping to make sure these chapters are grammatically and spelled correctly? Thanks for the chapter.

  30. this really feels similar to Overlord where the people around the MC will just arbitarily overthink the MCs actions and self-explode by themselves. Ofc, Makoto is just being the usual simpleton but people in power tend to think there’s always more to it. Well, jokes on them. Though you can’t really blame them for having such mentality when you are surrounded by opportunistic predators since you were born.
hoping that the next chapter will liven things up a bit. Although I still prefer these kinds of developments compared to him playing teacher.
    Cheers for the chapter~

  31. Guess he needs another scolding from Zaras-san.
Then again he still has trouble viewing things from this worlds perspective which Mio, Tomoe and Shiki are totally having fun with him.

  32. “Hibiki evaluated you pretty high, you know? She even said that there’s no one as reliable to have at one’s side than you”. This gave me a stranger danger kinda of feeling when i read it. I know he tried to play it off as her talking about his subordinates and not him specifically, but I can only see that as him being in denial.
Am I the only one who thought that the princess was going to try to seduce Makoto when it said that she was in a dress.(Not that I mind) Since she dresses like a man, does she have a tomboy appearance?

      1. Well, that may not necessarily be the case. IF, in the incident with the purple cloud she was able to relate what killed it with archery, then she may know that it was Makoto’s doing, as she knows that he was in the archery club.

  33. I was vastly entertained and laughed a lot. I hope that Hibiki AWAKENS TO THE HORROR THAT COULD BE MAKOTO in the next chapter or so. For my lulz.
Thanks so much for all your hard work and I hope that the RL is being kind to you!!!

  34. I don’t know why, but after reading novel with arrogant MC like Rimuru & Hiiro, Makoto naivity and docile nature gave me bad feelin. it just like he can’t read other people whatsoever. except when he facing with trashmoki (that was awesome).
    Thanks for translate BTW ^_^

    1. The author has shown us several timelines where makoto go full hardboiled mode, it means he only need something to trigger him into that state, I hope we can see another badass makoto in this time line too.
It’s just like waiting a time bomb to explode…. exciting!

  35. You know I always come here thinking, maybe this is where Makoto looses his shit and finally destroys a kingdom or two. But no, no he does not. The way this story is going now the first one to lose their collective shit will be the 2 hero’s and the Kingdoms. With the priestess seeing “something” and the power I hope Makoto is about to display right now they will all realize that Makoto is the single greatest danger to their countries. No I will not accept that he lets the Hibiki handle everything. When he went to the desert did he allow his escorts to do anything? No, and now that he has a hero as an escort, she is his senpai.Given Makoto’s nature he would find it rude to let Hibiki do any work. I swear to you the following scene needs to happen. So Hibiki asks where Makoto wants to go and he replies with deliver a dragon’s egg. So he somehow convinces… Let me go on a tangent how about if Hibiki tries to trick Makoto out of the dragon egg? back on subject. Hibiki and him encounter the first “trial” and Hibiki is concerned about how to get past with the least amount of damage. Makoto just goes “why not walk through it though, it’s just XYZ national disaster” and poofs it away. yes just poof it away. I swear if Hibiki even lifts one finger I am calling foul and the author is just going to keep teasing us with how easy Makoto would be able to solve the worlds problem. I.E. “Oh human demon war? Good luck trying to fight each other on separate continents.” Swiftly proceeds to slice the excess land that is not his kingdom from the earth.”There you have yours and they have theirs you can fight me to get to one another though.” If he were Rimuru he would saysomething along the lines of “I might even let you see the attack coming.”

      1. Then s an addendum, how about we make it less of a shithole?
The “easiest” way would probably be…taking the demon half of the continent and pushing it to somewhere with more prosperous conditions. Warm enough to thaw the ice and stuff like that.
Actually, I’ve been thinking of this for a while. Asora plants consume a massive amount of magic power in the air, right? What would happen if Makoto just unleashed his mana into the land somewhere on the demon’s territory?

      2. “What would happen if Makoto just unleashed his mana into the land somewhere on the demon’s territory?”
        An explosion probably.
In any case, the demons were pretty clear that they wanted revenge on the humans.

  36. Thank you Reigokai for the new translation. Hurray!
I can’t wait for moment when the people (and Hibiki) witness Makoto’s true ability, much like the Demon King and his race get to see it when he dispell Root’s attack.
Chiya is still out cold so she may not be able to see… but she have already bear witness to Makoto’s true form. Anyone would faint for 2 days after that, right?
I mean , just look at Makoto’s true form here…

          1. I recommend to read it instead. Till the end. First season of the anime had tons of filler, but was still ok, the second season(the Kyoto Arc) was great, but the third season was pure filler bullshit and the end movie even bullshit to the point that the mangaka publically insulted it(lol). I thus recommend reading the manga. It’s a great manga.

  37. Thanks for the translation as alway, really the I fear for the future of Limia if the prince can’t handle his feelings for Hibiki, he is losing his marble just having her go with Makoto, what would he do when hi knows that his feelings aren’t corresponded??? And princess Joshua seems to be an interesting ally, lets see how things play in the future. I wonder why the princess didn’t freak out when she knew about the peddin(?) I mean with the thoougs transmition that could be quite scary spy network infiltrated in the country. Hope Hibiki and Mkoto guet to figth to drop all the tension thats been build up to the two of them.

  38. Thanks for the chapter reigokai-sensei…
    …only,huh.
Makoto you are so ignorant, pretend dont know the answer… Lol make my belly hurt couse it so funny.
Yes mio plotting something… Waiting what coming

    1. i have come to the conclusion that makoto has a development restriction, or disability. he reminds me more and more of a small child. whimsically just going here and there, idolizing someone for being 1 year older and competent. refuses, or completely unable, to recognize his successes or faults. sheltered by all of his subordinates. doesn’t understand how leadership, merchantry, or politics works.
he just comes across as someone who only knows his one hobby (archery sort of) and the book rote memorization from compulsory education. he passed the exam cause it was purely a test on rote memorization, and succeeded at magic since it was handed to him.

      1. true, but at least he knows his power..but i will bet that he still underestimating himself against the hero.
now from prince joshua it’s already confirmed that makoto really is a simple guy, with normal h(y)uman who in their right mind trust a verbal promise in politics and trade??he’s so simple it’s frightening.

      2. I see where your coming from, but I think it might be the opposite. I think Makoto just hasn’t needed to grow much from the start. He seems to love working towards goals, but doesn’t really have a goal he actually wants, beyond the chasing. He looks up to people like Hibiki not because they’re older, but because they’re driven. On top of that, powers he wields aren’t really his. His magical aptitude, his Sakai, his mercantile successes, even his subordinates just sort of fell into place around him. The only things actually difficult for him since arriving was learning hyuman language and fighting Athena. Now, this is a guy who actually goes out of his way to feel exhausted, because he likes to. There’s no way he’d feel accomplished without exerting himself. Becoming a Merchant, or Teacher, or building his own non-human nation are all worthwhile goals, but what’s the point if it turns out to be easy?

      3. It is not that he is dumb or naive. he is a guy who can go one on one with a god in a fight. So think about it. You can kick the shit out of kindergarteners, but do you go to preschools and pick on them and beat the shit out of them or demand there milk money. No or a least i hope not. Most people help or take care of kids. So what has he been doing? He letting the kids fight amongst themselves and helping them and giving medicine and aid to those left out in the cold by the goddess or nation states.
Next contracts. Contracts and deals only have meaning if they are made by equals or have something more powerful to enforce it. So what the fuck does a contract mean to a god. Its basically a promise or a verbal contract. And he basically on the road to becoming a god. This is his unseen goal that he has not yet realized himself.

      4. Damn, you’re actually right. No wonder his actions doesn’t match his age… his mental facilities are younger than his age. Compared to his senpai, who’s mental facilities are older because of her life…

    2. Well we dunno what the author want to the mc become, so watching it well be fun, i personally like this mc personality that know his true power but just ignorant with it, like tatsuya or kirito or nao n many other mc
About he with his sempai i dont know what to say, couse i like sempai kohai relationship in anime japan… So i cannot take to hate it to…

    3. Isn’t like what happened in Bokuwa Tomodachi then?
With Kodaka playing dumb and Rika calling him out on it?
By the way can anyone please send me a link for that extra chapter where Makoto’s parents shows up, I honestly can’t find it mates.

  39. Woohoo new chapter, thank you reigokai-sama,
Lol at first i think princess joshua gonna seduce makoto because he’s the only one who know her secret so she can have him as a boyfriend
    Sry for bad english?

  40. So you forgotten Makoto… That you were only at the power level of seven demon Lords at first. And you’re strong enough now to make a genuine war god have to move her body with magic after taking your attacks. So…She probably saw an image of several hundred demon gods. You damn dense de facto god.

    1. He is not really being dense. He is the only person in his party who doesnt know Mio didin’t place any countermeasures for the priestess’s power. Although he is suspicious that Mio has done something, but as we have seen before he is not self conscious of how extreme his powers are relative to others.

      1. What he doesn’t realize is the magnitude of Mio NOT doing anything. Thus, the nosy priestess used her new ability on them, saw a “Truth” of them, and what she saw was horrifying. One is the Calamity Spider, and the other is a person that has species that would cause despair to fight against, met with a God of Wisdom and War, a God of Destruction, and . . . I can’t remember what the other one governed. So, a NORMAL person, looking at these things, would be terrified.

      2. Wait, does Makoto even know about Chiya’s Mind’s Eye?
I was under the impression no one told him about it to begin with, so he’s assuming people wouldn’t be able to detect all his power even if they could see a little of it.

  41. When Makoto no realize that he doubles his power each archery cycle (and there, how many times did he repeat it?!?!) so lets say poor priestess saw nothing but a sea of power (and the power of another god (tsukiyomi). I wonder whar hibiki will say when she know dragon is dead~~~

    1. I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t double it every archery cycle, it makes more sense that it raises by a flat amount instead of multiply, because otherwise his magic power would be far more ridiculous than it is now, and he would have likely far passed the goddess’s magic capacity. However, it isn’t very specific about how much he practices archery or how much time passes, so it could very well double every time, but a very limited amount of time has passed since he has been given the approval to raise his magic power as much as he wants (there wasa a time where he stopped to keep the goddess from noticing).

      1. When Mio and Tomoe first watched him practicing the bow the stated that everytime his prescense becomes null almost like desaepirence and his magical power dobles.

  43. Thanks for the chapter, I know it’s normal for Makoto to be dense since he is still growing but still…. this is really stressful….

  44. Root finaly ( intentionally) forces Makoto to reveal his true strength toward other forces…
and he’s exposed to a deep sh*t of being exploit the f*ck out of his secret task…
and thanks 4 the chap, pls don’ overdo it like last time when you post 2 updates at once… it could burn the sh*t out of your PC. And be healthy…

    1. I think that might just be a different effect of the first (i forget the word, task?) Task he had makoto do. Sure root could just teleport and do it himself but I’m thinking he is gonna reincarnate Sophia as a dragon and have makoto become take her as the 4th contract of his. And that would be an irony. It’s just speculation but it WOD definitely be interesting to see a tsundere Sophia who tries to be lethal but gets pwbed by all 3 and becomes forced to follow the strongest lvl 1. I Can’t wait to see hibitchy get PTSD from how powerful makoto really is.

    1. Call him pure, or naive; but let’s face it, at his power level, he is like a happy doggy surrounded by devious, scheming… kittens… yes kittens, they MIGHT hurt him with a surprise attack, but the repercussions would be glorious.

  45. makoto does’nt need to develop because any searching ability other than sakai because c’mon, dude blocked some of the blows (full power) of Sophia and it barely left a scratch so he doesn’t need to worry about assassins cutting his throat while he is asleep. And remember the forest onis power he was scared it maybe irreversible so he had everyone search for a countermeasure, so our mc feel only vulnerable to the goddess now.
This novel is my favorite LN and its a shame it lack real danger and the part about trashmoki and tomoe seems like it might develop into something else since tomoe has her own countermeasures and since she was the first of the group to know the charm power she could feel its effects and is more than likely using will power and if it becomes to much of burden she can just utilize the servant pact or use a barrier and shiki the researcher could probably recreate the charm power and mio well lets just say yanderes are full proof. And limia is no threat since hibiki desires his aides (mio) and lime, especially lime, she will meet a dead end wondering why the fwack are they fwacking following makoto.
So I really hope other than spirits or the goddess they meet people that could open their eyes alittle because the way the are going now especially tomoe and makoto talking about the goddess like defeating her is a done deal, they might actually become aware in the first half of the fight against the godess that they shouldn’t act invincible. But thats what I want but this light novel’s mc rapes common sense-chan and cuts through to a new path so oh well…

Makoto blocking Sofia with sakai above.

      1. I remember comenting long ago that he sold high quality product at very low price firstly to spread kuzunoha’s name and grow a reputation and secondly to help aventurer out of good will.
but, here we see that it wasn’t the case, he just hasn’t a fucking idea of what he is doing…

  46. thanks alot =) now i get it the mc has a huge inferiority complex motived by his family and by his reception in this world so he even think the pristes was scared of his ugly face …. so he just do not see hinself to be good enought o mio or tomoe =)

  47. “She is definitely plotting something.
She even made a Root-like laugh.
    Root laugh.”
I like how Root is his standard for being suspicious and scheming……
““Even if it costs me my life.” (Lime)
    Hahaha.”
He’s not joking Makoto! He seriously thinks he might die trying to keep Mio in check! Show more sympathy you dense idiot!
I have to admit, seeing him coasting along thinking everything is going well without even feeling a hint of the undercurrents going on, is making even me feel like he’s being deliberately obtuse. He already knows how powerful a force the Kuzunoha company is on the scale of the various nations. He should at least be able to guess that the people of the hyuman nations will want to lure them over to their sides. Or is it because they’re hyuman? He’s so hell bent on not getting involved with hyumans more than absolutely necessary, that he’s not even properly considering their circumstances?
It’d be nice if he grows a bit from whatever’s about to happen with him and Hibiki.

  48. 1)
Makoto’s comments about Hibiki aren’t really wrong. She’s really smart, popular, good looking and does well at everything she does. Makoto might be stronger than her but he simply doesn’t value strength, as someone who became strong the moment was transported to the world.
I agree with Makoto when he says “I can’t think of a reason as to why she would evaluate me so highly” and “Even if it’s Senpai, she shouldn’t have the foundations to evaluate me that high”. Ignoring Mio, Tomoe and his company there is no reason for her to consider him to be anything special. So far she doesn’t know about his strength.
    2)
I’m quite amused that Joshua blew off his lip service like that. Much better than a cliche blush.
    3)
Joshua is right when she says that he treats verbal promises very seriously. At the same time, the reason he’s not trying to use her real gender as leverage is simply because he doesn’t need. it. He doesn’t need anything from her, or even from Limia.
This merchant thing is something he’s started on a whim and probably isn’t making a profit and he doesn’t care that much either.
I saw another comment (by dbm) about how Makoto is not really all that interested in Asora, Kuzunoha and his teaching job because he’s stuck in this world that he doesn’t want to be in. And I think that’s why Makoto acts the way he does.
People mistake Makoto’s indifference/lack of motivation for him “being naive”.In reality he just doesn’t care about Joshua. Or the Limia noble’s plots. Or what Chiya saw when she collapsed. Or whatever. So he doesn’t bother thinking about it too deeply. He doesn’t really effect him that much so he’ll just “let the cards fall where they may” and deal with whatever happened afterwards.

    1. I would argue that Makoto’s lack of motivation is somewhat of a problem in its own right though.
It can be thought of as the carelessness that leads to vulnerability(i. e. the goddess gives him a really hard fight because he didn’t prepare for it as much as he could have). He certainly does have the leeway for it, but it’s somewhat troubling that he doesn’t cover his bases just in case, and that could arguably be called “naive”.

      1. He’s training with Tomoe, though only for fun, which is apparently significantly increasing his abilities. And he’s doing his archery regularly as well. There are probably a few other countermeasures (like the demon’s anti-goddess rings) that they are probably doing but just have mentioned.
In any case, people aren’t talking about the goddess. They are talking about how he’s naive in respect to Hibiki and Limia. However, they can’t harm him in any significant way. Either him personally, Asora or even Kuzunoha. He doesn’t have any goals in particular so even if they block him from trading in Limia it doesn’t really matter.

      2. The cause of his attitude might be Root, he told Makoto that it was possible to return to Earth.Makoto might be dealing with everything (friends,Asora,Limia,Gritonia) without much interest because he will return home as soon as possible.

      3. “The cause of his attitude might be Root, he told Makoto that it was possible to return to Earth.Makoto might be dealing with everything (friends,Asora,Limia,Gritonia) without much interest because he will return home as soon as possible.”
Nah, he’s been like that from the get-go.

    2. I don’t know about your second point… In a sense, rebutting like she did, is a blush. Though, as dense as he is, MC-chan would not notice it, even if it was a straight declaration ! Let alone a subtil variation in tone ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

      1. The way she rebutted was kind of weird, I’m not sure what to read into it. I suspect the issue is with the translation, though I don’t know Japanese so I can’t tell you the real meaning.
However, her internal thoughts didn’t even mention the compliment Or any personal feeling beyond “he’s a troublesome person”. Of course, that indicates a certain amount of interest but… it’s not that kind at the moment.

  49. As someone who makes self-deprecating remakes while being praised a lot, I’ll explain things. There are two parts.
[Making self-deprecating remarks to other people]
One part is to reduce their expectations. If people praise you saying “you’re amazing you can do x/y/z easily” then the next step is “you should do x/y/z because it’s easy”.And it’s like F that, don’t push it on me, do it yourself or whatever.
Another part is to reduce responsibility. Like if someone says “you haven’t done X yet, aren’t you a genius?” then you can push back with “I never said I was a genius, you said I was a genius and that’s nothing to do with me”.
Basically, these guys want to push work onto him but he doesn’t want to do it. Since it’s a hassle.
    [Making self-deprecating remarks to oneself]
This is a bit more complicated.
Part of it is to make sure you don’t get too arrogant and carried any with yourself.
Another part is that people praise modest people more than arrogant people so you have to modify their praise in your head with that in mind.
And another part is that you don’t want to be so easily affected by people around you. Just because people say that you are amazing doesn’t mean that it should overwrite your own perspective of yourself. No more than people saying that you such should.

  50. Thanks for the chapter :v I can’t wait for the next chapter when Misumi-kun will go to deliver the egg and whether he’ll go all the way with Hibiki or he’ll cut her off somewhere to keep his task a secret 🙂

  51. Eh ~The cliff this time is quite steep ? It makes me want to climb it so much ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
Well jokes apart, many flags were raised, didn’t they ? That Okama Princess was definitely trying to appeal MC-chan a bit…but seems like she got hooked instead ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
Waiting to see how that Bitchiki’s Common Sense is gonna get wrecked ! Though, I feel that MC-chan will somehow limits himself to accomodate her… Tch ! Just leave her in the middle of the lake ! Why not making another one ?
Well, many things to comment, but I’m too tired for that. *Yawn*
    Thanks for your work !

  52. Next chapter should be the part where Hibiki learns the truth about Makoto’s real strength and would panic , freaked out , would do anything to make makoto go away out of fear on his power >:D although if that fear turned into a development wherein she would gather allies from the rest of the hyumanity to do a crusade on purging Kuzunoha company before his influence grows more THAT WOULD BE DELICOUS!!

    1. I’m more interested in the contrast in the hero’s reaction to Makoto’s abilities.
Tomoki plans to fight Makoto with everything he has, so I suspect a conversation between him and Hibiki (after whatever happens to her next chapter) on this absurd leader of Kuzunoha.

      1. I don’t think those two will ever make an united front, both are way too drunk with their power and want to eliminate/enslave each other to be the only “chosen one”. I predict Tomoki will die while Hibiki will be another Hinata (Slime Tensei) and will be saved getting away with everything.

        1. I’m not really thinking about them united so much as two opposing forces talking about a third party before they fight.
Yeah…Tomoki unfortunately has a lot of death flags set up for him. It’s strange, but I almost want both heroes to survive to the end, just to see the sort of route they could go after being swallowed up by Makoto’s power.

      2. I really don’t get why people keep talking about Hibiki like she’s the Anti-christ.
You want to see drunk on power? Look at the United States right now. THAT’S what drunk on power looks like.
Hibiki is a politician. But a politician who is hoping to better the society she lives in. (Remember, Demons are her enemy.) This includes trying to get rid of corruption in the Nobles, and (Gradually) bettering demi-hyuman treatment.

        1. We’ll, the comments have already fairly heavily covered Hibiki’s faults in the past chapters, so there’s not much need to go over them again.
I more or less agree with you. Hibiki has a flawed mentality and is a bit too eager to manipulate Makoto, but overall she’s trying to make the best of an unfavorable situation. I can’t really blame her that much for what she’s doing most of the time.

      3. @Blue
It’s something most people tend to ignore but both heroes are equally fucked up, Tomoki is a bullied child that suddenly gained a cheat there’s no need to explain anything here.Hibiki was bored on earth because she was too perfect and wanted a challenge.
There’s something bothering me please tell me. When Hibiki was summoned in Limia she didn’t trust Bug, what happened to make stop questioning her?

      4. @DB AV
I’m confused as to how being bored on Earth because she was too good is a BAD thing. She’s a bit spoiled, yes, but unlike the typical rich-girl archetype, she doesn’t look down on other people, spend her time whining, or using her influence to bully people. She makes friends (who she genuinely likes), she trains to become stronger, she does everything expected of a hero (unlike harem-master Tomoki), etc. etc.
Now, an example of a BAD character who was bored of Earth is Yuuki. Dabbles in human experimentation, does brain-washing ala Tomoki, sacrifices children for summoning experiments, and kicks off the apocalypse. Because he’s bored.

        1. I think the issue with that can all fall under that “spoiled” description.
Hibiki had no problems abandoning her life in her old world just to do this, and that sorta implies an underlying problem with her thinking. More importantly, even though she’s serious, there’s this feeling that she’s treating this whole hero thing as a game she’s destined to win.
From another perspective, I guess these don’t have to be considered negatives either. I just sorta categorize Hibiki as a parody of Sue hero characters.

      5. Put another way, Hibiki is basically the stereotypical protagonist of any other “different-world” story. Which might make her boring, but not evil.
She’s a flawed character, but so are Tomoki and Makoto. (Tomoki is obvious. Makoto’s a psychopath in the making, if his dreams are any indication.)

      6. I’ll agree that Hibiki started out with an attitude of not taking this seriously enough, but I think that all changed with Naval’s death. Hibiki struggled with the insecurities from the loss and death, and eventually overcame it.
Even now, while she likes Makoto, she takes him seriously as a threat to Limia. (She even has a monologue of how she can’t let herself believe that just because they’re acquaintances he won’t do anything wrong.)
I don’t know if she can count as a parody of a Mary-Sue character, because she was only in that position back on Earth. In this world, she has failed multiple times and encountered others who are more powerful than her.

      7. @psychronia if you want them to survive I have a good news to you, thanks to Tsukuyomi sama benevolence I can speculate that Makoto will at least spare the lives of his countrymen/women, save them even.
Though it probably a bare minimum effort “as long as they alive” policy. With that I cannot speculate if Tomoki will have intact limbs attached… well as long as he alive right ?

      8. @Blue
” she doesn’t look down on other people” C’mon, she’s so high, she could spit on clouds. Basically, the way she looked at MC-chan in Japan, was just intrigued. Just like you would watch an ant carrying a big pebble.
If it weren’t for that Spider, she would have tried to use him like a disposable tool.
“She makes friends (who she genuinely likes)” Though, she would cast them aside without hesitation if there was any profit to do so.
Talking about her caring side : “it is something that I can’t throw away until the last moment.”…
As that Spy(lol) said, ” Something that can’t be thrown away until the last moment, is something that can be considered will be thrown away when that moment comes, “.
Like she did with her Earth’s relatives.
“she does everything expected of a hero (unlike harem-master Tomoki)” Too bad it’s just a mask that will peel itself off (like that Skeleton’s skin) when she’ll lose control aka when she’ll realize MC-chan’s power.
At least that Trashhero openly bath himself in his filth.

      9. @DB AV
she started to want to erased tomoki after she learned he prepare a to invade limia after the war against demons, not your ‘only “chosen one”’
she doesn’t show doubt nor faith for the godess, she is just dealing with her.
        @Sakamaki Izayoi
she may be a little prideful, but I don’t see her as looking down on people like ‘she’s so high, she could spit on clouds’. she may act ‘detached’ whith people she doesn’t know, but I don’t feel contempt from her.
People conplaim about makoto having low self esteem and respect authority, people complain about heroes having high self esteem and holding authority,
I am lost, how people want character to act? act though and big or act docile?
that part where she trown her past life without consideration bother me too. If she is the stereotype of “idol high school girl” in manga she would be friendless, and with poor familial relationship, but if that’s not the case, that’s rather extrem to trow away family and friends on a whip because of boredom.
tho in the end, abandon friends to reach the goal fixed of saving limia, or all die together fail everything, and see limia burn
I suppose the right answer is just a mater of opinion.
So being consciously pure evil is somewhat better than failling to be perfectly good.
I definitively can’t agree with that opinion.

      10. I’m with Blue here.
I don’t think that Hibiki is trying to manipulate Makoto anymore than anyone else. When Shiki and Tomoe were talking they admitted they were both manipulating Makoto, though they were doing it for his own good.
It’s true that Hibiki has her own agenda and is trying to get Makoto to help her with that. However, it’s not like she’s making him do something against his own interests. She doesn’t think badly of him and doesn’t plan to do anything bad to him.
In regards to Hibiki’s mask. Hibiki’s mask is actually quite thin, she’s simply not the perfect hero she’s pretending to me. She is still trying to help people and make their lives better, purely based on her ideals as opposed to a personal taste for power. Her thoughts about her mask, as well as her thoughts about being manipulative are actually a form of self-deprecation.
People are dissing Hibiki’s (self-proclaimed only) willingness to sacrifice but are ignoring Makoto’s insane lack of empathy.
        * In the first town he visited, he told Mio to eat the humans that attacked Tomeo
        * He wasn’t bothered when Tomoe and Mio destroyed the town they first visit, except for how it inconvenienced him
        * He wasn’t bothered when he learned he accidently created that lake, killing thousands of humans and demons in the process
        * He let hundreds of people die in Rotsguard because it made him look better when he saved everyone later
        * He didn’t care at all when Sophia killed most of the people in the capital with her first attack, compared to Hibiki who refused to leave to city to the demons
        * He let those fairies die in the Asora Forest just because they were annoying. In fact, most of the people trying to enter Asora are doing so because of how terrible their situation is

      11. @redcolonel
I have serious doubts about her sanity since at first Hibiki seriously doubted Bug but when she met Makoto the first time she was looking him like he was wrong for angering Bug you now like 0 mercy, Bug is the absolute virtue while you are evil for angering her. She reeked of hyuman fanaticism a lot.
Regarding the talk about the “chosen one” it’s just my guess, reinforced a bit when she ignored Makoto during this visit and the attitude she took with Mio (Mio….-san)

      12. @DB AV
        chapter 175
-He was hiding it, but the reason he’s using a fake name is because he doesn’t want his whereabouts to be known by the goddess, right? I didn’t feel a shred of respect for her in his words. I was summoned in a castle, but he told me that he was summoned at some corner of the world. It’s probably true, but if that’s the case then it’s basically indirect murder. Which means that it’s quite likely that Misumi-kun and the goddess don’t have a good relationship. Is it alright to accept someone like that as an ally?
-anyone who endangers the kingdom of Limia’s existence would be undesirable
-If I were to ask Misumi-kun for assistance and he turned out to be the goddess’s enemy, it is quite possible that it would become a great reason for the empire to start a war between hyumans.
        – Makoto did not give any impression of being on either the hyumans’ side or the demons’ side. Hibiki has an ominous feeling about him that will not disappear. So she has decided that as a hero, she should make her decisions without taking into account her personal feelings.
-ll meet him in the kingdom in the near future and ascertain his standpoint there.
        what I understand from her:
-she took Limia side (chapter 64) because she bonded with limia’s people
-limia is the country with the hightest faith in the godess, thus she supporte the godess
        – she understood the godess was a bitch to makoto, and understand why makoto doesn’t like her.
-if makoto become an enemi of the godess, his first target will most likely be the country with the bigest faith to godess, thus being a great danger for limia
-she understood her responsabilities as a hero and won’t let her feeling obstuct her decisions.
she stayed far from makoto most likely because joshua and the nobles were testing him at that time
“he has shown some signs that he could become a source of evil”
I think that’s the only time she spoke about justice or moral, but in that sentence it sound more ‘he will rampage around the world’, not being wrong considering how easily he can take the genocide route from the dreams. tho that’s only my personnal interpretation.
PS: does someone know how to reply to a third coment? that’s a pain in the ass to reply like that…

      13. @redcolonel
” People complain about makoto having low self esteem and respect authority, people complain about heroes having high self esteem and holding authority” That’s not the point, but I think people would be less pissed by other characters if the MC was a bit more aggressive. However, I recognize that makes the charm of this novel.
“So being consciously pure evil is somewhat better than failling to be perfectly good.” No, I’m saying that being consciously evil is better than faking Good. I don’t care if you’re evil or not, but don’t speak like a saint when you’re acting like a fox. See the point ?
        @moridin84
“She doesn’t think badly of him and doesn’t plan to do anything bad to him.” Wanna bet on her course of action when she’ll roughly know MC-chan’s power and acts ?
I bet on : Branding him as evil, “misunderstanding” him for a mass murderer and saying things like :
“I know that I’m still weak compared to you, but even if you’re stronger don’t think you can do whatever you want ! Aren’t you ashamed !? Where is your moral !? I’m gonna train and make you pay for what you did !”
Or something like that. Well, that is my opinion, I’m not denying any of yours. Don’t take it too bad, guys !
        AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

      14. @DB AV
“I have serious doubts about her sanity since at first Hibiki seriously doubted Bug but when she met Makoto the first time she was looking him like he was wrong for angering Bug you now like 0 mercy, Bug is the absolute virtue while you are evil for angering her”
        Errr what?
I don’t think she thought that he was wrong for upsetting the goddess. Just noted that he seemed to have a bad relationship and that she didn’t think it would be a good idea for her to ally with him if he turns out to the be the Goddess’s enemy. Limia is a country that worships the Goddess and she’s a hero of that Goddess so it wouldn’t really work out.
“Regarding the talk about the “chosen one” it’s just my guess, reinforced a bit when she ignored Makoto during this visit and the attitude she took with Mio (Mio….-san)”
She didn’t ignore him. It was kind of glossed over but he did say this chapter “I conversed a bit with Senpai and her group”.
        @Sakamaki Izayoi
“I bet on : Branding him as evil, “misunderstanding” him for a mass murderer and saying things like …”
Why would she brand him as evil? She knows how strong Mio is. Mio teleported directly into Chiya’s room, despite the defences, so she knows that Mio could kill her whenever she wanted. Antagonising Makoto makes no sense and Joshua mentioned in this very chapter how neither she, the King or Hibiki wanted to do that.
Tomoki has already said to Lily that he was “going to get stronger and make Makoto pay for what he did” so he’s already taking that role in the story.
Hibiki is too smart to misunderstand Makoto as a mass murderer. If she started thinking that he was a mass murderer then it’s probably because it is one. Hibiki was in one “alternate timeline dreams” and in that she really hated him. Probably because he became a mass murderer. Since that is something that Makoto generally ended up doing in those alternate timelines.

      15. “No, I’m saying that being consciously evil is better than faking Good. I don’t care if you’re evil or not, but don’t speak like a saint when you’re acting like a fox. See the point ?”
        No, I don’t see… A fox can’t be good?
I think a “fake good” would be someone acting evil, selfishly, but would claim to be good. like a priest who will rise charity donations, but to keep it for himself.
everything she does is for limia, and until now, I don’t think she really showed selfish desires.
even in the worst case, she wouldn’t be worse than tomoki.
that would be like saying Zef is worse than tomoki because he say he will save the demon race but use use and genocides for that.
tomoki is by far the worst.

      16. @redcolonel
“A fox can’t be good” It can but it cannot be a saint then ! Don’t mix up analogy and exemple.
The fake part would be to herself. Lying to others is a thing, but lying to yourself is another. That’s just weakness hidden behind hypocrisy. She’s not saving hyumans because she must, or thinks it’s “right”. She’s doing it because she choose a side and don’t want to lose the game.
That Ikemou is far more dedicated to his duty and is ready to shoulder every sins in the name of his race.
        @moridin84
Because she’s so used to win that she doesn’t know how to lose. Of course, she’ll never try any frontal confrontation, she’s quite good in reading minds. That’s why she knows MC-chan will be reluctant to kill her, as long as she doesn’t go too far.
Let that Trashero alone, and nothing will happen. If he was the kind of guy that actually trains hard and gives results, he wouldn’t go for enslaving every bouncy women that passes. I’m more concerned by his puppeteer…
She’s smart enough to not misanderstand him as long as her mask is put on. As I said, I think the Bitchiki everyone see now is nothing but a facade even to the person herself. When she’ll be confronted to her own inferiority, she’ll belittle the opposing side. Like a full grown man whining that you cheated when you beated the crap out of him ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

        1. fair. a fox can’t be a saint.
but isn’t it be the same for tomoki who said ” I am a hero. I am fighting for the sake of this world. Defeat the demon lord and after that I will create a peaceful world.” when the only this he desire is power and a big harem?
and I don’t think she would be so much conserned with limia’s politics if she only wanted to win the game. the revolt she support is like shooting her own foot with the state of the war, though she may have changed since the time she decided to do that.
that may only be my impression, but I feel like she changed since she receved the ‘faith blessing’ power up

        ——
It being a game she wants to win… probably isn’t wrong.
However, it is also true that she stayed in the capital to fight the demon general because she didn’t want to abandon the people in the city. Despite how dangerous is what.

Because she’s so used to win that she doesn’t know how to lose. Of course, she’ll never try any frontal confrontation, she’s quite good in reading minds. That’s why she knows MC-chan will be reluctant to kill her, as long as she doesn’t go too far.

My point about Tomoko is that he’s already done the “I’ll get stronger and beat you” thing so Hibiki doing the same would be superfluous. Overlapping their roles in the story. Much of the other stuff you are saying such as “confronted to her own inferiority, she’ll belittle the opposing side” also already apply to Tomoki.
I think that Tomoki is an “anti-hero” and Hibiki is a “regular hero”. Makoto is… lacking in qualities to be either so they serve as a contrast to him, amongst other things.
You seem to think that Hibiki is going to be an antagonist. I can’t imagine that happening because she simply doesn’t have the ability to harm him in any way.

      18. Here’s a summary of the very long chapter:
        – Hibiki wanted to test Makoto’s real strength thus they have a bout , although Makoto deliberately lose it ended with Makoto stopping Hibiki’s full powered final strike with a single hand.
        – now that she learned Makoto’s a real monster and threat to the world. he shouldn’t be exposed to war at all cost and thus she made an attempt to invite him to her cause only as a merchant that would supply Limia exclusively
        – Makoto refused under the premise that Kuzunoha company is open to anyone that needs their help.
        – Hibiki then explained that if he continued to do so the war would prolonged thus creating more strife and suffering on both sides
        – She also added that only after the war have ended she can make a move to make the other world a better place
        – Makoto begged to differ that as long as BUGdess is up there nothing would change as she will interfere on the hyuman society
        – Hibiki defended her ideals by saying this world need the BUGdess and the world would be plunged into chaos without her
        – Makoto replied that surely without her there would be confusion but after a generation everything would be stabilised if hyuman learned to adapt
        – Hibiki attacked Makoto saying that he is having a discrimination on Hyuman race as a whole and that is he trying to be a god or king of a country
        – This is when Makoto realized that was he is unconciously discrimanating on hyuman race at least on the upper echelon of ruler class
        – Even so he replied that his company’s objective won’t change and would continue to do so.

        1. Why.
Why, oh why would you spoil an entire chapter like that. I don’t know if you’re answering a comment I don’t see or have forgotten about, but I really wish I hadn’t read that whole summary, regardless of how soon it’ll come.

          1. In case I wasn’t clear enough, I don’t want spoilers. Stop.
So much for enjoying Reigokai’s next chapter.
            ……… *sigh* GOD FUCKING DAMMIT

          2. I’m very much the latter group. It really sucks.
I really, really, hate spoilers and it’s probably one of the few things trolls can do to rile me up to the point of degenerating as a human being.

          3. Don’t bother spoiler him. From the look of it, he doesn’t care about being told spoilers… or he does care and is actually caught with ReZero and just lied about it. Who knows.
Anyway, he’s not worth your time.

          4. Yeah, I know. Even if that wasn’t the case, it wouldn’t be cool to put spoilers here out of spite because it could catch other fans in the crossfire.
I considered talking sh*t about the seriea instead since they apparently like it, but that’s not fair to the story either.
So instead, I’m just going to hold a petty grudge for longer than anyone else will probably remember or care.

          5. And so, Psychronia, in the end the only thing we can possibly do about it is ask a moderator to delete his spoiler comment and to ban him from being able to comment.

      19. zettai since we live in the normal world and murder is illegal… i’ll say this I HOPE YOU DROWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
SINCE CURSING SOMEONE ISN’T LEGAL NOR ILLEGAL MUHAHHAHAHAHA
Anyways I wonder what other LN you are currently behind on…

      20. It seems odd to me that so many people are criticizing Hibiki’s willingness to go to another world.
Again, she’s basically the stereotypical protagonist of “other-world” stories. Either they get killed and reincarnated, or they’re summoned away. And NONE of them go “Oh, my life back home!”
Also, I feel like something that gets forgotten a lot is that Hibiki is a teenager. Is it really that awful that she might have suffered from a touch of “chuunibyou” at the time of her summoning?

        1. Really? I’ve seen a couple of MCs wanting to go home. The cases where they don’t want to go home usually feature exceptionally bad lives at home.
Anyway, in most stories, consent to summoning isn’t much of a factor(while reincarnation is just getting more either way so there’s no reason to refuse).

      21. Really? The following is just what comes to mind (to be fair, a number of them died first. But again, zero time is spent going “send me back.” Just, “Oh. died. Ok, cool. Time to have fun.”):
        Death March
        Isekai Shihou Skill Taker
        Growth Cheat
Slime Tensei (I get he died. But he spent zero time caring about it.)
        Risou No Himo Seikatsu
        Kujibiki Tokushou Musou Harem ken
Manga wo Yomeru Ore ga sekai Saikyou
Prodigy Sefira’s Program to Overthrow the Higher Ranks
Spirit Migration (to be fair, amnesia)
        In Different World with Smartphone
Only I know this world is a game
Skeleton Knight in a Different World
        Legend
        I was a sword when I reincarnated
        A Realist’s Kingdom
My Pet is a Holy Maiden
        Himekishi Classmate
I Aim to Be an Adventurer with the Jobclass “Jobless”
        Konjiki no Word Master
        Knights and Magic
My House is a Magic Power Spot
Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shojou Dorei Majutsu
        Re:Monster
        A Man Chosen By Gods

        1. Whoa. I haven’t even touched a lot of those titles.
Anyways, although I obviously don’t know the circumstances and thus can’t refute a lot of them, some of those titles do apply to what I mentioned before.
Isekai Maou’s MC has interpersonal issues and no reason to be attached to the old world so much as afraid of the new one. Slime Tensei and Realist Kingdom seem to have more well-adjusted MCs, but the impression I got was that they didn’t have anything particularly important to live for. Death March seems to have a reason for the MC’s calmness that hasn’t been revealed yet, with the implication being that his memories were tampered with for some big plan.
Anyway, I do get what you mean about the trend of eerily quick adaptation. There might be a psychology to it, but it’s probably mostly for the writing’s convenience(also should note that a lot of these stories end up with technology being introduced to make the new world slightly closer to the old one).
In which case, I think the relevant point to make here is that both Makoto and Tomoki hesitated to come during the initial summoning and Makoto wants to go back to the point of his homesickness affecting Asora’s ecosystem(as speculated by the visiting gods).

      22. Oh, how could I forget Isekai Tensei Soudouki? One of the personalities even spent his youth leaning facts for the SOLE purpose of cheating if he was ever summoned to another world.
I do agree that Reincarnation is a different case, but all these guys moved on REAL fast. Like..1.5 sentences fast. Unlike say, Youjo Senki where the MC keeps criticizing his new world, or No Game No Life where the MCs hated the original world.

      23. With Youjo Senki the main character is actively being punished for being a terrible human being, so it’s a different thing.
The difference between Hibiki and regular isekai/reincarnation MCs is that regular MCs then to have a dull or bad life. Or they died so don’t have an option to go back.
        —–
I think that in isekai stories where there is a “real hero” separate to the main character, that person gets hated on a lot. Probably because the MC represents their unpopular self being giving a chance at an interesting life, whereas the “real hero” represents cool popular guy that they couldn’t be in the real world. So by surpassing that “real hero” they are surpassing the cool popular guy in the real world too.
        Or something like that.

      24. Ah, but Hibiki’s life WAS boring. Putting aside her personal circumstances (wealthy, popular?) she was bored and that’s why she wanted to go to another world.
It’s not THAT surprising if you think about it. When things come easily to you, life starts to get boring. That’s why you see rich kids do stupid things for thrills. Or even regular kids. (You don’t see teenagers in Africa trying to drive 100 MPH so they can show off on a Facebook live broadcast. Or something.) This is Hibiki’s stupid thing.
I have to agree with you about when the MC is summoned alongside the traditional hero, the traditional hero gets bashed often. Arifureta comes to mind. (it basically devolved into a Kouki-bashing wank-fest.) The one exception I can think of is Isekai Mahou Okureteru, where they’re pretty good friends.

    2. By bashing I mean by the readers, not by the story itself.
The hero in Arifureta was designed to seem like an awesome hero but late turns out to be messed up. He’s supposed to be disliked. The heroes in Word Master are similar.
For what I’m talking about, there people were hating on the new heroes in “Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyou Shitai”, even though they were all pretty cool.
Hayato in Death March is another example.Though I don’t think they hated on him for too long, probably because he’s a lolicon.

  53. Thanks for the chapter. Looking forward to the next one as the Hero group will probably witness Makoto’s power.

      1. Maybe the priestess will wake up while makoto and hibiki are at the lake and starts freaking out and saying that makoto is like a god or the demon lord. She did look at him and im guessing she saw just how much raw power he has. Like maybe her eyes showed her something akin to roots rawr. Maybe?

      2. I meant Hibiki and her group, I consider her sort of like a hero. But the other one think of him more of a anti-hero group.

  54. Thank you for the chapter.
Do you have a picture of Hibiki & Tomoki? I only found it on volume 10, but I wonder what hibiki look like when she has long hair. 🙂

    1. -Testing-
      ⓈⓅⓄⒾⓁⒺⓇ ⒶⓁⒺⓇⓉ
…yup, definitely going to use this next time.
Eh? What do you mean a Truck can’t use this?

  55. Wow, thanks!
About Makoto’s naivety: I think it all comes down to this: “I have power to destroy the world, so whatever happens happens”. So, he simply doesn’t care!

  56. “When Hibiki came to this world, she had the ability to fight with the leader of the knight division.”
This just sounds so funny compared to Makoto’s first actual life-or-death battles.

  57. Man, i just checked and next two chapters are HUGE! And Makoto is not that stupid, he just behaves like a god, doing whatever he wants, some charity here and there and choosing not to interfere too much in the livelihood of his subjects. I think that’s why Tomoe wants him to get rid of his prejudice against hyumans but at the same time being able to keep his distance and not being too meddlesome like some bug.

    1. Maybe the other gods want to test makoto to see if he can be the new god of bugs world? Like to merge both asora and the parallel world into one with him as its new deity?

      1. Looking at athena “test” and others blessing to him, yes they trying to create new god to fill tsukuyomi vacant spot, just as Susanoo says, Taukuyomi job maybe trivial but the amount are not something to be laugh at… they are really become shorthanded after Tsukuyomi goes off to “vacation”.

    2. “he just behaves like a god, doing whatever he wants, some charity here and there and choosing not to interfere too much in the livelihood of his subjects”
Heh, that’s concise way of saying it.

  58. Why do some people here think that makoto has something agaisnt hyumans? He is treating them like they treat him. And he is treating his students like a teacher from our world would. He teaches them but doesnt get involved too deeply with them. Just because they are interesting characters doesnt mean makoto has to care deeply about them. His job is to make them stronger and he did. His job is not to be warm and comforting towards them.

    1. Shiki and Tomoe were talking about it a couple of chapters back. It’s not just the opinions of some of the readers.
I guess you can disagree with Shiki and Tomoe… but in the story their opinions are being presented as gospel truth.

    2. At first he only had a dry teacher-student relationship with them but those students fell in love with the Kuzunoha company and Makoto. So it’s only normal for him to make a small place for them in his heart, he is avoiding them and that worries Tomoe and Shiki.Long story short hyumans might be trash but Makoto should open his heart a bit more to the people that earned his trust and is incapable of doing this at the moment, notice that they used discrimination with quotes” ” marking it as a slight dislike not full-blown hate.

      1. The students may love him and the company but that does not mean makoto needs to reciprocate it. He is going at it like a teacher would. Cold sure but he himself only thinks that it is bormal student teacher relationship. And sure he needs to start thinking that not all hyumans are trash but most seem to be.
