Chapter 216: I heard from a whale

Sponsored Chapter

You thought there wasn’t going to be a chapter today?! Well surprise!!! (Actually, I barely made it.)

I was able to get the meeting with Zef at the night of this same day.

I apologized to Eva who had regained consciousness, and since I had the chance, I also visited Ruria.

Before heading back to Asora, I contacted Zef via Rona, and it turned into meeting him tonight.

What a flexible schedule this king has.

Since it was sudden and they have a variety of matters at hand, they couldn’t throw a warm reception, but I don’t wish for something like that in the first place.

I am the one who requested it, so I fully intended to go to their capital myself.

But they said something about the preparations of welcoming blah-blah-blah, and I felt like they dodged the topic when they refused. In the end, we are going to be meeting at the place where I met with Rona and Io the time when I went to visit the demon race territory.

Why is it. Even though I said that I would arrive at the promised time if they just wait. Maybe they didn’t trust me?

Is that the reason why they went through the trouble of designating a meeting point that is close to our location?

Zef is the Demon Lord, and yet, the moment I asked him to make a moment where I can meet with him, not only did say he would come meet me in person, it was even in the same day I asked him, which makes me think I am not being treated badly.

I think that way, but…

Oh well, worrying about it won’t progress anything.

Anyways, if there’s useful information for Kaleneon, I want to know, and it is also true that I want to try throwing him the question that I had in Limia.

“Waka, I heard of it!”

“Tomoe huh. I heard that you have been shut in with Shiki when you find the time. Just what are you doing?” (Makoto)

Lately, I have only seen Tomoe in meal times, but she has now come to where I am.

Right now, I am in the Elder Dwarf workshop to tell them about the remodelling of the drill spear.

That she has come all the way here to talk to me must mean that the two have reached some sort of result, or maybe they have thought of something that is not concrete yet?

I don’t want to think it is the case, but there’s the chance that something bad has happened.

The chances of it being a good happening is…none.

“Oh, I have gratefully read the memories of the archives of Waterfall. Later, please give me a report…wait, right now that doesn’t matter, Waka!” (Tomoe)

“Yeah…” (Makoto)

It doesn’t matter?

Even though you were browsing it pretty happily…

“That Serwhale said that Waka had gone to the snow mountains of Kaleneon and dug up a hot spring!” (Tomoe)

“Y-Yeah, I did. It can be used as a countermeasure for the winter, and I thought that it can used as a selling point as well.” (Makoto)

“Hot springs, taking a bath, restorative properties! HOT SPRINGS!” (Tomoe) <草津に箱根に熱海>

“You are rebounding Tomoe.” (Makoto)

“I want to take my time and soak in it.” (Tomoe)

Tomoe suddenly falls into a tranquil tone.

But something was still welling up from her whole body.

“I understand how you feel. But first we have to confirm the components of it to see if it is a hot spring that we can enter just like that, and that’s after we finish the construction work of it. Well, I think we can manage something by spring. When it is currently in its source, it has too high of a temperature to bathe in, so there’s the need to dilute it as well. In that case, it might be easier to draw the water all the way to the river. At any rate, it is impossible to use it currently.” (Makoto)

“If it’s fresh water, it is fine if it’s warm. It is not on the point of boiling. I can manage.” (Tomoe)

“Won’t do. Also, even if we make a hot spring like that in a hurry, the only ones who would be able to use it are people like you.” (Makoto)

“Uh~, is that a no?” (Tomoe)

“I’m telling you to wait. If you want one that much, why don’t you go find one in the volcanoes of Asora. If you do that, it would be easy to gather the people and work on it.” (Makoto)

“…I have already searched the volcanoes, but I just can’t find a good one, Waka. When I open a hole in a place that looks like it might work, the most that comes out is ores.” (Tomoe)

To think that she has already tried looking for one.

As expected of Tomoe.

It is impressive that she already had a grasp of the existence of hot springs, but that she went into action is also impressive.

But is it that difficult?

I did it on the first try though.

Maybe there’s no hot springs in Asora?

Just in case, I should try asking the surroundings.

Serwhale-san and the Neptunes seem to know of the real deal, so there might be something similar to it in the bottom of the ocean.

If we find one, we can just remove the water from the surroundings and create a hot spring-like place at the bottom of the ocean.

…The problem is if Tomoe can accept that though.

I can also try asking the bears and the wolves to see what they have to say.

Can’t throw the possibility that one has already come out.

In my original world, there were animals like deers and monkeys entering the hot springs after all.

“You wanted to enter a hot spring so much that you came all the way here?” (Makoto)

“Please! And then, I will bring a warmed sake and gaze at the snow as I drink! That kind of first experience in a hot spring would be extreme bliss for me! Knowing that Kaleneon is currently covered in snow, and there’s already a hot spring on top of that, I…I am already…!!” (Tomoe)

Tomoe writhes as if suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

Lately, Tomoe has been in a serious and languid mood, but…Tomoe is still Tomoe huh.

These days she has been hooked on *Certain kill monk*, so it must have made her have even more interested in hot springs. <必殺鍼灸医の坊さん.>

In those times when I read all that stuff about the healing properties of hot springs, I was the same. Looking at Tomoe, I am beginning to crave entering one as well.

Postponing the plan of putting the hot spring to practical use, we should first investigate if it has the components of a hot spring and learn if it’s okay to bathe in it. If that’s the case, let’s make a bathtub for it.

“Well then Tomoe, go check if the properties of the hot spring are ideal. If it can be used, gather the people that can be mobilized and create a bathtub of stones or something to begin with. However! The people that participate in it will have to participate in the public works related to the hot springs of Kaleneon as well, no questions asked. Also, make sure not to force yourself.” (Makoto)

“!! Of course! We have been in a stalemate on our side, so this is a convenient happening!” (Tomoe)

“…Is that related to what you said a moment ago about a report?” (Makoto)

“Yes. I spoke with Shiki as well, but it has reached a point where we will need the permission and cooperation of Waka in order to proceed. Well then, wait for me, hot springs!” (Tomoe)

Just like how Tomoe entered, she ran towards the door.

She is boisterous, but when Tomoe has those eyes, she is reliable, so it helps me out a lot.

But that report related thing seems to be troublesome enough to leave for later huh…

“Oh, Waka.” (Tomoe)

Is what I was thinking when Tomoe places a hand on the doorknob and turned to look back.

“What?” (Makoto)

“Is this Waka’s permission, order, or request?” (Tomoe)

“…Well, I don’t intend to push you guys, so a request.” (Makoto)

“It’s been awhile since we have received a request from Waka. The goal is: finish in two days-ja!” (Tomoe)

This time Tomoe actually left.

When she said the goal is two days, did she mean making the hot spring?

That’s not it, right?

Because I asked her to check it out just now, and it is not like Asora has so much free time.

The first town that is close to my house is still continuing its construction, and the port town is still in the middle of soil preparation.

That mountain has bad visibility as well, so the work will be rough.

She probably really said that with the intentions of finishing in two days.

“Waka-sama! I have heard of it!!”

What’s this feeling of deja vu?

There’s a slight difference in the voice and words, but it is practically a replay of just now.

“Ema?” (Makoto)

This is again an unexpected one.

When I meet with her, it is mostly in moments when we have already planned beforehand.

From my part, I normally just go talk to her when I find the time to, but when she comes to me, she properly makes an appointment first.

It is extremely rare of her to come rushing so suddenly in this manner.

Moreover, all the way to the workshop of the dwarfs.

…Is it an incident this time around?

“Ema, what’s wrong?” (Makoto)

“I heard from Serwhale-san!” (Ema)

…Even Ema with the hot springs?

Hot springs are super popular huh.

There should be one in Asora somewhere, so maybe I should try searching seriously for one?

“About the hot springs? If it’s about that, I have already given permission to Tomoe, so you can just cooperate with her and…” (Makoto)

“I heard you used a Draupnir?!” (Ema)

“Eh? Dra…?” (Makoto)

Upnir?

Ah, I was mistaken, it wasn’t about the hot springs.

“I heard that you threw it into a reservoir.” (Ema)

Ema has a serious face.

It seems it was the wrong topic.

“Ah, about that. It is true that I did throw it. It splendidly blew up and it was a big failure. I messed up that one.” (Makoto)

“I heard you tried to use that ring to heat the water of the pond?” (Ema)

“Yeah. I tried it thinking that it could be used to automatically heat things up in the winter.” (Makoto)

To think that it would turn out that way.

The pond was gone and maybe because of the waves of the explosion, a mass of hot gale collided onto us.

Thanks to that, the snow on the surroundings melted and the ground was a mess.

When that freezes over, it will be a problem again. I truly did something bad.

“I reported it before, but me and a number of others have been thinking about a way to utilize the scrapped Draupnirs that have Waka-sama’s magic power stored. But the utilization of the ring is hard and just trying to dispose of them is a chore, and there’s also danger to it.” (Ema)

Right right, I remember now.

Ema was thinking of a method to utilize them aside from simply disposing of them.

If there’s a mistake in the disposal process, there’s times when it might turn dangerous, so the disposal of Draupnirs is difficult.

From what she has thought, it seems like she plans on using them for things like the town’s lighting, to power the workshops, and to maintain the barriers in the several points.

“I should have asked for confirmation before using it. I tested it with one just in case and it didn’t go out of control, so I got overconfident. I should have tested it not only in my hand, but by throwing it inside of water as well.” (Makoto)

“We are talking of Waka-sama, so I don’t think you were hurt, but I did get slightly worried there. The Draupnirs are troublesome rings that are incredibly hard to deal with. Please be careful.” (Ema)

“As I thought, even the way of dealing with it is special. It is certainly true that it was strangely unstable.” (Makoto)

“It goes well until the point of giving it a function. The problem is that when it surpasses a certain point in power, the moment it leaves the hand of the person doing the process…” (Ema)

“It goes out of control in an instant.” (Makoto)

Seriously, what a ring, even if I do say so myself.

“If it’s on the level of having it in hand and utilizing when it is still there, it’s incredibly useful. But once it reaches the dangerous point, the element and function it is given is transformed into output power in an instant, and just like that, after repeating the process of increasing its own power, it surpasses the limit it can take and explodes.” (Ema)

H-How picky.

I see.

When I made it a heating tool, the moment it left my hand, it turned unstable and increased in power instantly.

It feels like a baby that begins to cry the moment it leaves your arms.

Hm?

Hm hm?

Something is bothering me here.

“Wait Ema, wait for a moment please. When I did it, the ring didn’t break, you know?” (Makoto)

Right.

“That’s it! That’s why I rushed all the way here!” (Ema)

Ah, so that’s the reason of the strange action of Ema.

What I did was bad, but it was also an irregular result.

“Please tell me about that moment in detail!” (Ema)

“Is it okay if I am present for this as well, Waka-sama?”

“Elder-san?” (Makoto)

“Currently, we have been cooperating with Ema-dono and finally found one way to utilize the ring of Waka-sama. But if we can hear in detail about what Waka-sama has experienced, we might be able to find a future for the utilization of it. Well, it is simply the instinct of an old craftsman though.” (Elder)

“…By the way, what is this use you found?” (Makoto)

“It would be best to demonstrate it. Hey.” (Elder)

Taking the opportunity when Ema makes her request, the Elder joins the conversation.

It is in the matter of the uses for my rings, so I was interested in what they have accomplished and when I asked the Elder, he called someone at the deep parts of the workshop.

The voice of the Elder wasn’t that high, and yet, a response with good energy soon came.

Then, one dwarf showed up.

When he notices me and Ema, he lowers his head deeply.

“Bring that.” (Elder)

“Understood!”

The dwarf who went inside again, returned to where we were with some sort of package.

“Show it.” (Elder)

“Yes!”

He takes the cloth off the package, and what came out of it was a spear.

But even if I say spear, it is not the drill spear.

It is a strange spear.

The bladed part looks like the lances that are used in horseback, a cone-shaped one.

Even so, the handle is long.

The lower part of the cone is shaped like a bowl, and as if protecting it, there’s transparent crystal-looking spherical part attached to it, and from there, the handle is adhered to it.

The edge is thin, and if it were a normal spear, it would be like the throwing type, a javelin, but…what is this?

“I have named it *Bakusou*. I plan on distributing it to the Winged-kin.” (Elder) <爆槍. If there’s a suitable name in english, let me know.>

“Bakusou…” (Makoto)

“I think you can see the transparent spherical part.” (Elder)

“Yeah.” (Makoto)

“There, we will set the Draupnir that was planned to be disposed.” (Elder)

“I see.”

“And after that, you simply throw it. When the lance part detects impact of a certain degree, the ring will activate and create an explosion.”

So that’s why it is called Bakusou. <Because bakuhatsu equals explosion.>

I see, if it is for the use of weapons, explosions are welcomed.

It is also the most simple of directions.

I think that reaching the level of practical use was quite difficult though.

“When Waka-sama said that you used the rings to increase the power of Brid, this is something that was worked on by the dwarfs as an armament to put this principle into use.” (Ema)

Ema gives a supplemental explanation.

It is certainly true that I combined it with Brid and increased its destructive power.

It is difficult to use as a weapon, but if we use it by throwing the unstable ring, it is pretty simple to understand.

“If there’s no battle, it can’t be used, but in a battlefield, one attack can dispose of one ring.” (Ema)

We were planning on disposing them from the beginning, so it is fine to just use it with the intentions of throwing it away as well.

It kinda sounds…reasonable.

If Ema says it this way, it must mean that from the beginning, she saw worth in them and was thinking about a way to utilize them.

“But…” (Ema)

Ema continues.

“The Draupnir that Waka-sama threw into the pond seems to be stable even within the lava. I want to see the real thing in person. If a method to restrain the ring from going out of control is born with the information of the circumstances and what Waka-sama did…” (Ema)

“It would be possible to utilize it for the livelihood that we were originally planning to use it for. If that happens, the Draupnir will turn from a troublesome article into an incredible resource. It would be a dream come true.” (Elder)

And then, progress will be made for the tool that will be able to deal with them.

I am the main culprit for the production of these rings, so this is quite the pleasant talk.

There’s no way I won’t cooperate.

“It would be nice if I am of help though…” (Makoto)

Saying so, I spoke to the two about my big failure in a truly detailed manner.

      1. Maybe there’s some power to support him. A woman i suspect.. But maybe his 💘 for reader… Btw… Why this webpage are less with add?

    1. So pretty much at this point. Even if we were to take Makoto out of the battlefield. An entire damn air force made up of winged kin equipped with slightly less powerful nuke javelins would still kill everyone were they to go to war. Makoto at this point can actually be called a merchant of death.

      1. Isn’t he already one? With just one brid he can destroy a whole small size city… imagine if he uses advanced magic… the fire works will be LEGENDARY!!!!

        1. The funny thing is, I can actually sorta see Makoto using his Drapnir as fireworks. Shoot them into Asora’s night sky, let them detonate with light…enjoy the view from a safe distance…

          1. Safe distance? How much Kilo Metres will that be? Only 3 rings had made a lake and almost killed everyone on the battlefield… which is awesome… the lake I mean, not the killing.

      2. And those javelins only have one ring each currently and has the force on par to a Tomahawk missile, if the eldwarves manage to have multiple rings work in concert within a single javelin, then we will probably have real nukes… Tomoki’s trump card has already been rendered obsolete from a large-scale war perspective. Lily will have a stroke if she finds out…

      3. I Wonder why shiki couldnt use those excessive rings onto him to increase his magic power? Even thiugh their much more stronger and better than shiki have. As you know, the eldwas are creating stronger draupnirs for waka to wear each week. So this is bothering me for quite sometime.

      4. One ring was already enough to blast a hole in Asora’s dimension once what do you think would happen with 10 of them

      5. @pikclicave Before this he was just a merchant providing miracle medicines and services in the form of either him or his members helping out. At that point he was to a degree the red cross mixed with great national firepower and manpower. Now he can distribute said firepower of his own to the residents of Asora. Now he has both ends of the table with products of great healing and great destruction.

    1. He is the last nest of common sense, he will protect the little common sense left in this novel, I don’t know how long it takes before he succumb to darkness too.

    1. Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑)

I don’t know why you’re lying on the floor sweating all over. I won’t ask or tell anyone.

  1. All hail Reigokai!
    All hail your isekai translator!!

    All hail lelou–?!
Sorry, i just rewatched cost geass ytd

Anw, thankz for the chapter today.
It is really a surprise, Altot i kept my hopes high. Haha

      1. By the way I hear there is suppose to be a third season, I already have my daippers on so enlightme, IS IT TRUEEEEEEE!!!!!?????????

  2. I call bs on Asora not having hot springs, Tomoe just doesn’t have that cheat Sakai.

Thanks for the chapter ^_^ completely didn’t expect one.

      1. You are totally right. I saw spoiler san there and even got a message from another world. Tomoe is misunderstaning of a way onsen is supposed to be used because the root of her common sense is samurai dramas. And while she waites for the workers Waterfall is going to be crushed.

      1. *carrying a couple of buckets of water*
Eh…? No. I’m not here to help Raizu. I’m just making sure the fire doesn’t spread. Go on with your business!

          1. For all her strictness and nagging, Ema practically worships Makoto, so he’s like the Demon God to her Dark Lord.

Now that I think about it…isn’t Ema kind of like Makoto’s Rona?

          2. Indeed… though Rona’s loyalty to Zef contained some fishy smell… not a bad fishy, I fishy smell that gives good feelings… (sorry, couldn’t find the right word ).

And rona is a much better fighter than ema…

          3. That is one of them… I also thought that she somehow have blood connection to zef… though I’m not sure… because some of her speeches sounded like a daughter indebted to her father…

        1. No! Don’t be so cruel to her! Even if she is a baco- err.. I mean pig! No wait… err… Orc! She is still beat girl! (According to psychronia) btw girl is Every romance candidate for Makoto in my book~ even that crazy princess from gritonia… I will accept her if she suffer first and have a change in her personality by the influence of Makoto~~!

          1. This might seem like a tangent, but I promise it’s relevant.

Does Tsuki have any mention of what happens to people after they die in this universe? Do people have souls? Or is it a “they live, then die as if they never existed” sort of deal?

          2. As far as I remember… it hasn’t been explained yet… we know that they have soul though… proved by the contract system in tsuki’s world.

The contract system in almost every fantasy world have one thing in common… which is they are carved into the souls, since if the contract is only carved in to the mind… it wouldn’t be too dramatic wouldn’t it? Ya catch my drift?

          3. I don’t remember if Shiki mentioned souls when he saved Wuddi…oh well.

The reason I’m asking is because I’ve realized the one thing that could probably leave Princess Lily shaken: if something happened that brings her mother back.

          4. Mother? Did something happened to her mother? No wait… I think I remember reading a chapter that mentioned something like that… but I can’t really remember much.

But even if they can’t bring her mother back… Tomoe could always use raise the memory of her mother to the surface or something… I think?

          5.  As far as anyone seems to understand, Lily went mad becauae her mother was killed during an incident in her childhood. She decided to destroy the world as a result.

      1. Princess lily’s mother died believing in the goddess, but the goddess was quiet for a while after that during which she decided to burn this world which goddess loves

        1. Oh, is that what happened? I was hoping that we’d eventually get some context to how Lily’s mother dies and what happened to them afterwards.

If a side story got some readers to sympathize with Bug of all people, I don’t see why Lily can’t get the same treatment.

      2. They have souls and reincarnate. It was mentioned as part of the dreadfulness of Lancers person-into-sword attack, the soul is destroyed and they don’t get to reincarnate. It is kind of covered in one of the side chapters, the one about random adventurer that went to Limia with Hibiki and died defending Chise from Lancer during the LancerXShiki battle.

  3. lol I just finished reading the 2 chapters I didn’t read yesterday and now a new one came out?

    ~thanks for the chapter!

    1. Not even, nukes are used sparingly, as tactical weapons. They plan to use these spears, which if the lake which was made in Limia can serve as an example, as common weapons for a whole race of mammonos. Think about that for a second, the destructive power of their average weapon is enough to create a lake, the four hyuman superpowers most likely have normal weapons like swords and spears as average equipment. These spears are being made so they can get rid of the filled Draupnirs, as they’re to dangerous to really keep stored currently, they’re making these weapons of mass destruction, to throw them away. A nuke would be using a filled up coat that Makoto had worn.

      1. How many do they have anyway? I’m thinking that by now, Makoto would be changing those rings daily.

      2. It was mentioned in the previous chapter, he fills a set of rings every day now.

He can make 10 lakes a day or destroy the planet every year or so…

  4. Reigokai is not my birthday yet!! Wait until Friday for that!!! You’re spoiling the masses!!!
We’re going to end up like the hopelace household if we keep getting spoiled.
But jokes aside thank you for the chapters.

  5. Another surprise!!! Nothing too mind breaking in this chapter though… may common sense-san fully recover and be broken again in peace, …later by makoto

  6. oh wow, the dream of having a president/king at your beck and call. I imagine the conversation goes like “your majesty, raidou wants a meeting” “cancel all schedule for today, make a time for it fast”

    1. It must be awkward asking for advice on managing land from the very same guy you stole it from…

I hope Makoto gives some kind of compensation for it, like more onsen or something.

      1. What if it’s even better than that? What if they’re in the process of making a giant statue of him in whatever “cool” pose he had when he was dealing with those spheres of light?

Of course they wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise…

  7. Thx for the chpt

Makoto u are very nuke it self if it stabilized it useful but if it unstable it goes to hiroshima and nagasaki incidents. His thoughts how to utilizing it for people, his people thought how to use it for crushing enemy.

    1. well….. its because at first they try it, the equipment still unstable to be use for utilizing for the people livelyhood, now after the ‘miracle’ that it stabilize at least they can focus on utilizing it for the peoples

    2. I think because they can’t do it safely, that while Ema rush to him in first place. But still, they want to dispose it, FAST. If I remember correctly, they stored filled rings in a certain storage far from residential area. How would you feel if you got huge amount of unstable WMD warheads stored just quite far away? Nuke can be safely dissembled, but The Ring…. you can write an Epic of destroying a Ring.

        1. One Ring to burn them all, One Ring to frighten them,
One Ring to blast them all and in the lake bury them
In the Mist of Asora where the Thousands lie.

        1. Considering that those rings were crafted by dwarves to limit power of the wearer and imblued by Makoto (aka unsung hero), compared to rings of power that were crafted by elves to enhance power of wearers and corrupted by The Dark Lord Sauron, I think things are opposite in almost every way. Though I must said that both Makoto and Sauron rule over orcs, Ema definitely not stupid an orc founded in Mordor.

      1. Yes, I intend to mean that just one is troublesome enough. And Asora should have more than a thousand of them by now.

Just don’t expect my poet skill to be like Tolkien. This poem was modified from his.

  8. You know, I always felt that the main problem with Drapnir was that it wasn’t designed to be a power source. It was designed to suck up and compress as much magic power as possible.

That’s why when it’s attached to other functions after being filled to the brim, the pressure of the compressed energy spews out uncontrollably. That’s also why even the most useful application of Drapnir in javelins is a waste because it isn’t even using that magical power so much as the released compression power.

What they actually should’ve done is create a massive power grid that all links to a single source Makoto can regularly dump his excess mana into. Less battery and more reservoir, with the power always flowing in a direction instead of being condensed or absorbed. After that, it just becomes a matter of  expanding the Source’s capacity, building more of them, and maybe creating a way to safely empty Drapnirs into the tank.

    1. Isnt dangerous, to linking his power to asora maybe some people could tracking that huge power goes.

Yes the orginal purpose of makoto equipment is to make normal appearance and suppress his godly power magic.

    2. That remind me, His coat can suck energy from Drapnir, isn’t it? Why can’t they do the same to other spell? Something like magical powersuit for craftsmen or barrier jacket for aerial troops armed with mini WMD spear, sound familiar?

      1. no no no…. the suit suck magical energy but the draupnir act as a valve so the suit doesnt suck too much of energy, if you want to know more about it, read the Tsuki manga chapter 18 (the latest) there the eldwa give the full information about the suit and draupnir

        1. Yes, my mistake. I just reread chapter 33, Draupnir is just a valve. So it mean that no army of super soldier monsters, for now.

  9. Thanks for the chapter.

Yay Kaleneon goes green clean sustainable energy. Every country should have a bow-wielding, overpowering demigod to provide all their energy needs.

    1. well…. the toxic waste is magical energy (which stil clean energy, at most it can be seen as Band of Demon Lords assembling like in the manga) the problem only the stability of the energy when it acumulated in item without anything to control it

  10. Thanks for the chapter! I thought that the one from yesterday counted as today’s. Hopefully I made top 75, and without further ado, I will read the chapter.

  11. Thanks for the chapter…

I really like to view all the uses of it… Maybe we can see, tanks and some modern technology…

  12. So if the whole deal with the rings works out, Makoto will essentially be a generator/grenade-maker in addition to Asora’s king.

    1. Its sad that almost every child like me has an exam the day after holi in india, but then again maybe they dont waste time like me

  13. Short chapter, but not that I’m complaining. Thanks Reigokai.

So that charged Draupnir is like nukes. Control it well, and it will supply a tremendous amount of power. Let it go and it will go boom!!!

I guess they will use the ring like a thermonuclear reactor to better their life than use it literally like a nuke missile. Yeap, the dwarf elder knows their priority well.

But hey, making some nukes to counter or as deterrent against that trashmoki nuke doesn’t sound like a bad idea too.

  14. Umm.. so after the ring throwed and explode there is a chance it would not destroyed, just like the one makoto throw in water, and ema afraid if someone found it, they will make countermeasure for it right?

Even though normal people will die instantly if they equiping it even for a second, lol

    1. Nope. It’s the other way around.

They can’t make the rings NOT explode when used, that’s why it is such a big deal that Makoto was able to use the ring like that, and that it was still in one piece.

That’s the kind of breakthrough they’ve been waiting for, apparently, in order to use the rings as anything other than a warhead.

  15. What if Asora and Kaleneon turn into truly modern city’s with electricity and water works run by ring fusion generators.

  16. I love this story so far. I truly hope that this story continues properly and is translated so that I may read it. However I will always support a translator that takes his own life style into consideration. I hope you continue translating this and I hope you live a grand life my apologies for not being able to provide cash money to yourself.

  17. ahhh lance+draupnir it remind me of gunlance wyvern fire from monhunt haha, asora defense force was now complete….on land we have gorgon, on air there is winged kin, on water there are bikini bottom

  18. So in that world, Red Ring sign is equal to Black Fan on Yellow in our world?

By the way, a massive thank for the chapter.

  19. So basicly Makoto just rings up the equivalent of an Emperor, and asks if he has time for tea and a quick chat about gardening.
I can see how it might come of as humorous, but the joke falls flat for me.
Why does he even assume that Zef would know how to cultivate land?
Why not try to find records of former Kaleneon or hire some farmers from northern regions instead?
And how the fuck does he not realice just how big of a deal it is to get a meeting with a head of state?

Still, Tomoe and Ema pretty much saved the chapter and made it a treat to read.

    1. yeah, according to last chapter, kanelon didn’t used to be so cold. the bug goddess might have removed her blessings from that plot of land when it was taken over by the demons.

      1. Not sure he should even bother with agriculture for now.
        You got mountains?
Establish mines, forges, potteries (seriously, you have a volcano, that’s like free heat right there).
Pump heat from volcano to all over the country, take the knowledge you have and leverage that to create something nobody else has.
If you really have to grow some food, just make greenhouses around the volcano.

        1. The thing is though, that Kaleneon isn’t Makoto’s, per say. Kuzunoha is sponsoring the resettlement of the kingdom, and is therefore an important part of it, but Makoto does not want to lay claim to it himself.

He has made Eva be the head of Kaleneon, probably as the only noble of the kingdom left alive (save for her sister Ruria, of course).

That is why it is important for Makoto that Kaleneon becomes as independent as possible, and part of it is making them able to source at least some of their food locally, instead of being completely dependent on a third party.

    2. @J4n1…

The original purpose for visiting Zef was to learn about what it takes to be a ruler, like he said after his talk with Hibiki. He also said that the demons had managed Kaleneon enough to make it function as a fort and as you know, they also live in a place surrounded by ice. So, he should know something about making that environment habitable.

Also, the only thing he commented on was how Zef decided not to meet him at their capital and dropped all of his work to quickly meet him at the border.

He knows how busy Zef is and he didn’t expect him to meet him so soon or meet him at such a place… I don’t get why you think that he doesn’t know how big of a deal it was to have a meeting with a king. He was just surprised that Zef decided to meet him on the same day he requested an audience. Which was unusual, that’s why he thinks that Zef doesn’t trust him.

      1. Not bother with agriculture right now? O_o

        He isn’t even….

The ‘ONLY’ problem that the Kuzunoha company was tasked with right now was to deal with the cold and snow that was making it hard for Kaleneon to function as a habitable place and that’s what Makoto is currently doing.

  20. Thanks 4 the chapter and don’t overwork your self!

    Introducing Draupnir battery.
It can power your lamp post (if it doesn’t explode).
It can heat up your bath (if it doesn’t explode).
It can power your war engines (if it doesn’t explode).
It can even be used to destroy your enemy’s fortifications.

  21. Thanks for the extra chapter.

If the charged rings can act as a magical energy source, then that means Mokoto invented Protoculture! Does this mean that he’ll create the first Zentradi? Maybe the Eldwas can build bioroids? Should we be looking forward to seeing Makoto on the bridge of an SDF? I’d pay money to see the forest oni’s piloting veritech fighters.

Sorry, I lost myself there for a second.

    1. Just noticed the avatar.
Student, shouldn’t you be advising Makoto through the BBS! Or maybe not, since he’s not a hero.

      1. The Hero system isn’t perfect. Even a Demon Lord was made a hero, after all. Then again, the association’s purpose is simply to manage Heroes, not to choose them…

          1. Now your comment made me remember this ligth novel about a guy whos family is gifted (cursed) with saving heroines as soon as they turn 16, well this MC as soon as he turns 16 guets 4 heroins staked at once and every one appears when he is dealing with other. Seriously the first one is guetting kidnapped, he tries to intervine and in the middle of the rescue an alien chick crash into him, transporting him in her spaceship, then in space he guets summoned to another world. Well the first volume was fun. Don’t remember the name though!!!!!

      2. I decided to stay out of this one. Trashmoki keeps asking for advice and Hibiki tries to PM me, but my only reply is “Sorry, I have a test this week.” Besides, harem heroes should just go explode!
No, no, I’m not jealous. Really. No joke. I’m just sayin’.

        1. Yes thats the one, it was funny how he used the weapons of one heroin to beat the villains of the other. Did the second volume got translated???

  22. Thanks for the chapter, you got me there Regokai, I didn’t expected a chapter today at all. Well what can I say Asora is about to go through a revolution, instead of working with steam, they are jumping to use nuclear power plants. And those spear, what where they planning to figth with it??? Really Asora is even more dangerous that fighting the demons at this point. And Tomoe is going all out to have her hot spring, you go girl. I can only imagine the chaos that must be having the Demon King move out to meet Raidou in a single day. (LOL)

        1. Yeah, there’s Bug, but they’re out of her league in that case. In fact, even Mio and Tomoe might be out of her league.

Since it’s going to come down to Makoto(maybe plus minimal follower support) vs Goddess, who are the Asorans going to fight? Even without the Bakusou, they can probably fight off the rest of the world at this point.

      1. nahh…its not that, it just that i imagine since we usually call that damn goddess BUGDESS a.k.a. goddess of bug , i imagine she curse transform all the hyuman into BUGS like in the starship troopers hence why i type that thing earlier 😛

        1. Maybe the Asorian are departing on a mission to Mars and are planning to fight the roach of TERRAFORMARS manga. Those guys deserve all kind of deaths.

          1. ….Huh. I guess Makoto could certainly go the Shield Hero route and end up hunting troublesome gods.

Except instead of just two people, he’s bringing an entire world of loyal soldiers.

      2. The goddess’s trump card, the human with a strange element(Amelia chapter).

        Lily’s chimera army project.

I said it previously, but I really want to see Tomoki as lily’s slave due to his corporal enhancement experiments.

  23. hrm…. why just focusing on the spear though? they should utilize it on other long range weapon too. like the arrow, ballilstic etc

    1. Why not arrows? Need 2 hands to use, winged kin don’t have hands i think (could remember wrong).
Why not ballistics? I assume you mean catapults and/or slings, again, need hands.
Why spears? Can be carried in talons/feet by flying kin and dropped from beyond arrow/spell range.

These are missiles, they can evaporate buildings, you don’t want too many in close proximity someone can detonate when falling down or being hit.
Maybe future revisions allow partial release making things like lasers, or constant adjustable low level release for magitek machines.
But for now, they’re too unstable for most uses.

    2. because a javelin is the easiest to deal with in the beginning, they are still at the first prototype, nothing say they won’t include them in others weapons

      1. It would certainly make firearms practical. Makoto dismissed them as useless because they lack power against magic. But what if they made what are essential HE bullets, housing a miniature version of a Draupnir? The bullet itself could even be a small caliber, to keep the recoil down, unless they eliminate that through magic. It would also allow for the weapons themselves to be relatively small.

Then again, the recoild and weapon size should be a problem, since many of the races in Asora are probably strong enough to hold a Vulcan cannon in one hand and have it firing at top speed, and still be fine. Especially the Mist Lizards and the Orcs.

Anyway… I can just imagine a firing line with rifles, but with the firepower of rocket launchers.

  24. Soooo is actually Draupnir is close enough to a Nuclear Reactor core or something like that? lol
    Thanks for the translation~

  25. thanks for the chapter

the more we go, the scarier the winged kin become.
did makoto really intend to bring an apocalypse on the world?

    1. now that you mention it, we have 3 horsepeople so far, shiki as death, mio as famine, tomoe as war? so we just need pestilience now and above them the makoto apocolypse
wonder how the heroes will react to flying units lobbing mini nukes

      1. oooh that’s an interesting theory! Ever since Chiya-chan saw the “dark thing” within Makato, and the definite direction he’s taking towards godhood, I’ve been wondering if he would end up being a god of death (you know, something befitting his the terror he inspires in others) although a pretty relaxed one xD, and being followed around by four avatars of the apocalypse would be very fitting.

    2. I think if serwhale becomes his follower he can be considered as war. I thought if levi would become his follower when they first introduced her, but after the latest chapters it feels more liek serwhale

      1. I think we’re forgetting about Sari. Though a slave and not exactly a follower, she is a former demon general. She would make a great god of war.

    3. Death, famine, war & conquest/pest… Their roles don’t fit the 4 Knights…

Shiki as death doesn’t make sense because his specialty is healing plus his weapon is a sword
Mio as famine… Can fit with her past but not sure if now as she is even a cook now
Tomoe doesn’t fit war or conquest/pest(don’t really understand why somewhere it’s translated as conquest and in other places as pest…)…

      1. Nah, they can still fit. You can twist the roles of the horsemen, to make them opposite too, as it makes sense that the horseman who “controls” death can deny to death too, if he so chooses. Also Shiki still fits as he is undead, and Mio still is a glutton, Tomoe can be considered war or conquest with her warrior/knight personality. In reality the last member will be the one to make/break the theory.

Also, just a small note: Makoto himself fits the description of Conquest REALLY well: Conquest is crowned, white archer and Makoto is an archer, is white (according to Chiya’s vision), is the king of Asora AND “conquered” his 3 followers so far (lets be honest conquering Mio and Tomoe is about as difficult as conquering a country lol).

  26. A reusable Explosive weapon Behemoth class detected.
    Recharge sources: Makoto Misumi.
    Weapons name: Draupnir.
    Description:
A curse-type Mana absorption device that design for the tremenous daily Mana leak-out occur on Makoto’s body. Upon Disposion, one item reach to certain point and completely intact after use. Resuable is imminent.
Anyway, thanks 4 the update. 5, i guess??

    1. I forgot, is that pic from the first Civ game or the second? From the graphics I say the first, but I could be wrong. My copy of the game was damaged a long time ago. Even before the switch from floppy disk to CDs.

      1. Ah… that’s right Tomoki did possess Nuke as his trump card.
Well at least asora brand Nuke is environmentally friendly, no need to worry if you ever need to nuke a country… twice.

      2. Well tomoki nuke power could be classified as atomic bomb, most likely the smaller “little boy” while asora nuke have exceeded the common sense of modern technology

      3. @ Ultrawin: Scary part about modern weaponry. USA was called before the UN council back in the ’80’s with an accusation of violating the nuclear weapons testing agreements of the time. Turns out it was a purely chemical bomb with a yield tens of times larger than the recorded yields of advanced nukes of the time. Funny part is that the slurry used to power that explosion is now commonly used in airbag inflators. So if you can get your hands on about 1,000,000+ airbag inflators and empty the explosive portion you have a bomb more powerful than most openly tested nukes in history.

    2. Now that I think about it, Makoto actually matches up with Nuclear Gandhi AI very well, doesn’t he?

      Be friendly.
      Be civil.
      Discourage war.
BE PREPARED AND WILLING TO NUKE YOUR ENEMIES WITHOUT MERCY.

      1. Yeah, the ‘hidden agenda’ stuff, right? Now I can see that they’re similar, but Civilization series’s Ghandi is more… how to say… eccentric. Bipolar even.

Makoto in the other hand, really have good intention in everything he did. Things just ended with bad result, not quite to his intention. He really has bad luck in that dept.

        1. I mean, Makoto has that sudden merciless mode too. The white eggshell and the “HOLY SHIT WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT” eldritch thing inside. There’s a consistency, but I say it matches well enough.

The main difference i that all the other civilizations went out of their way to provoke him during the development stages…

  27. Thanks for the chapter!

Winged-kin armed with draupnir will be terrifying, affter all makoto used those rings to create a lake using brid.

    1. The bird kin with carpet bombard capability and ICBM missiles?
      Overkill.
Totally overkill, and please spare our common sense-chan from anymore beating.

  28. I think people are failing to realize that the rings are a new power resource equivalent to nuclear energy. It would be interesting to see them build a power plant or steam powered machine. I believe Makoto may have just brought forth the industrial revolution to asora.

      1. It depends on the application. You may not want the unstable power source located close to where you’ll use it, esp. if you only need a little power. Also, if they can figure out a way to transmit power efficiently (and since we’re talking about magic, it can possibly be more efficient than steam turbines and wires – for instance, have the Draupnirs generate electricity directly) they might even be able to export power. Industrial Revolution, anyone? 🙂

      1. Ah well… I like Tomoe but her having less screen time is a temporary consequence of her Flag Break. That or maybe she’s more prominent in the side stories.

  29. I want to see a Makoto ring corps: “In BUG filled days, In Scheming Nights, No Trash shall steal………”

    1. In Brightest Day
      In Blackest Night
No Evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship Bugdess might beware of my Power
Draupnir Corps Mi– *Kaboom* (the ring explode first before the enchantment be said *Tehe Pero*)

  30. Dang it, I’m late!!! Then again, I was asleep for once due to being up for over 24 hours because yesterday was my birthday. Anywho, thanks for the chapter Reigo-senpai.

  31. I think the 4th follower would be human robot (remember first chapter or second maybe). Makoto dream about it, and come to this new resources from ring ( re: nuclear). Maybe he can make it.

    Thanks for your hardwork, ganbate~~

      1. Zef, to me, is the greatest representative of a victim of circumstance in this story. From what I can see, he doesn’t really like any of what he’s doing as the representative of the Demon race.
He’s making the best of what he has, making the hard choices, and doesn’t have anything personal against most of his enemies.

      2. I kinda like and don’t like Zef.
As a character, he seems ok, and has plenty of potential, but i don’t see him really working well with Makoto being who he is, and taking screentime from stuff i am more intersted in.
        I may be wrong though.
And i could see Zef being a great side character for Makoto to interact with, but only after Makoto grows a bit, right now, i think he will just highlight Makoto’s inadequacies.
That said, Zef might work as a catalyst to make Makoto grow, in which case awesome.

      3. Yeah I did say I don’t hate him, but I cannot view him to be Makoto partner or something.
The current Zef are already did it portion as character, he gives a different pov from the rest of the world, I can also consider him quite wise, a heavily burdened with responsibility but still maintaining his position in the right place.
If he were to bow to Makoto maybe I will stop liking him, he is fine the way he is now.

      4. Zef is the only person, we see him getting along with in a timeline, the other times with tomoki and hibiki, he killed them

  32. Hibiki: “we need to deploy ABM system to the front of Kuzunoha shop …”
Trashmoko : “Kuzunoha didn’t required the right to develop nuclear weapons”
both princess: “we demand Kuzunoha company to unveil the number of nuclear warheads in their arsena”
Raidou Matoko replied the Hyuman Today’s reporter : “Goddess within our warheads reach”
a random Hyuman : “i built a Underground Survival Shelters, in the case that nuclear war happen, my family could live inside it for 20 years…”

    1. To last random hyuman I have bad news for you, this new brand tools from Kuzunoha co. “Giga drill spear” Can pierce any underground shelters, it you have enough magical powers it can pierce through the heaven!
Order now so you wont ever need to fear enemy attack again, remember the real article only sold through our Kuzunoha company network!

    1. It’s lake maker tools, one is enough to make beautiful lake, use two if you want a lagoon, use three if you really hate everyone in your country.
Available via Kuzunoha company special mail order, order now and get this Mio-sama pin up poster as bonus !

      1. He did use all ten rings he’d been wearing during his fight. He also amped it even higher by taking off his coat/armor and really unsealing all his powers. So feel safe in saying most people would need ten just for the small lake.

      2. But its a single target attack though…. XD
So if done correctly the explotions would be much larger

  33. Misumi Makoto has unlocked [Nuclear Warfare].

  34. I found it fun that he was not worried that they were giving the winged kin such a deadly weapon but instead oh that is a good way to destroy the rings.

Also when he made the lake he had a fraction of the power he does now have because he has been increasing it for a while to get ready to fight the bug.

    1. No…the amount he used for that lake isn’t even a fraction of the amount of mana he has now. If you work out things mathematically, comparing the amount he had then to now is like comparing something finite to infinity.

  35. So, basically, the winged-kin are now bombers with missiles… Asora is becoming scarier again x).
    Thanks for the chapter!

  36. If he’s using 10 rings a day and has been n Asora , a year or better that’s a whole lot of power, maybe he can give them to his troops for a power up; just like he did with Shiki earlier. If Ema wasn’t an Orc,she would of been his girl. Super efficient Dark lord secretary. She’s changed since the beginning.

  37. Thanks for the chapter, just read all three and you really gave me a heart attack making me think you might take a week off this novel – inner heart tone

Too much thrill last chapters so these are actually a refresher also that girl Ruria? Don’t think we’ve seen much of her and can’t think of what role she can take. Several years? Makoto how long do you plan on laying back? Hot springs!!! Tomoe seduction begins soon and hopefully this might help in Makoto seeing them as women or it might reveal he already does so can’t wait.

  38. Yeah, a form to use or dispose them is really needed, the most simple way I can think of dispose them is making tjem explode high in the sky and one by one so the explosion isn’tt big enough to make a disaster.
