Chapter 269: Mummy Jin and Sweetheart Raidou

Oh boy, I messed up my schedule. Teehee 😛

Next chapter will come in two days then. Sorry for that one >_<!

“Ooh, a splendid mummy look you have there. How are you feeling, mummy Jin?”
I heard that his external wound treatment had been finished, but when we entered the room where he is resting, I saw Jin with his whole body wrapped in bandages.
Now then, because it was such a comical look, I unintentionally called him a mummy man before a wimp.
But if he is already recovered, there’s no need for bandages.
“…Sensei…  Shiki-san.” (Jin)
Then why is Jin currently being packaged to such an extent with bandages.
For keep him in check.
I decide to ignore the voice of the mummy that was groaning.
Oooh.
The bandages continue on at the ends of the bed, and even those are tightly wrapped. Also at the legs of the thick and strong-looking wooden legs.
In other words, someone physically restrained him with bandages so that he wouldn’t rampage in his agitation.
Fumu, splendid medical treatment.
From what I have seen of the patient, he looks somewhat calm.
But with this, I feel like the report of him being silent was because the restraining had finished.
“Okay, I see now. And so, the wimp-kun that got confused, went out of control, and was almost at the verge of death–I mean, Jin-kun, let’s hear your report.” (Makoto)
Now then, let’s act as a teacher and a superior.
Objective view.
“Uh, a report?” (Jin)
“That’s right, a report. You came here as training for the Kuzunoha Company after all. Isn’t that right, Shiki?” (Makoto)
“…Yeah. I would also like to hear the explanation of why it turned out this way from the person himself.” (Shiki)
While placing slight thorns in it, I urge him to give me a report with a smile.
On the other hand, Shiki looks down at him with quite the anger.
“That’s…uhm, how should I begin explaining…” (Jin)
It is unusual to see Jin in disarray.
It is a face I haven’t seen lately at the Academy.
“First of all, why did you chase the mamonos too far? From what I understood of your job this time, it was at most…like carrying luggage.” (Makoto)
“On top of that, I gave you a strict order, didn’t I, Jin? That you shouldn’t move on your own accord. That the strength of the mamonos deep in the snowy region are too much for the current you.” (Shiki)
“…That’s true, I was indeed told that. This time’s injury was not the fault of Shiki-san.” (Jin)
With his head hung down, Jin admits his own fault.
He muttered weakly that it wasn’t the fault of Shiki.
…Is he an idiot?
From the very beginning I didn’t think Shiki was at fault.
Also, injury?
It looks like he is misunderstanding what I am asking here.
“There’s no need to tell me something so obvious. Everything is your just desserts.” (Makoto)
“Uh.”
“Shiki, what was the state of Jin when he encountered Sofia?” (Makoto)
When I spoke the name of Sofia, the body of Jin stiffened.
The main cause of his disarray huh.
But I think we first need to make him notice the misunderstanding he has.
It is fine to just ask about this thing of Miranda and Sofia later.
“He was already out cold and his whole body was covered in blood. It seems the surrounding snow was also dyed in red. From what we investigated when the treatment was underway, there was half a fistful of insects swarming in his body…and that he lost his consciousness most likely because of his external wounds made by the bitten off meat and his lost of blood. I also think there’s no mistake in it.” (Shiki)
“Any other thing?” (Makoto)
“At the same time, he was injected poison. It takes away the freedom of their prey, and serves to prolong the time its prey is alive…no, it is a resourceful poison that weakens the resistance and prolongs the freshness of the meat. But this time, that served as a saving. Thanks to that, Jin’s treatment made it in time after all.” (Shiki)
“On top of that, it was also thanks to that mysterious knight who swept away the insects.” (Makoto)
“Yes.” (Shiki)
“Jin, just now, you said ‘this time’s wound’, didn’t you? Are you seriously saying that?” (Makoto)
Hearing the report of Shiki again, I could tell that Jin’s life was saved by a heavy luck that would make anyone envious.
This time’s injury?
Don’t joke around.
In normal circumstances, it would have been almost certain that he would have died.
“Eh?”
“The type of poison the insects used, the knight’s help; if even one of those were missing, you would be dead by now.” (Makoto)
“?!!”
The word dead made the eyes of Jin open wide.
This is why I can’t handle lucky people.
Makes me want to shout: ‘give me a bit of it!’.
“Yeah, no doubt about it. The words ‘injured’ and ‘seriously wounded’ are just too lukewarm. You were saved purely by luck. If this were based on ability, you would have long been the preserved food of those insects. What was its name again…Snow Dung Beetle, maybe?” (Makoto)
“Yes, around these parts, as long as you don’t chase them too far, they are not that dangerous creatures. However, if you chase them too far, the danger level increases in an instant though.” (Shiki)
Because they lure you in and are devour you with numbers in an instant.
It is a creature that’s exactly as Shiki explained.
It is an opponent that you can ignore its danger with certainty as long as you are careful.
Seriously, how pathetic.
“Your actions this time around, frankly speaking, there’s a lot to retort to, and regarding the training, we will obviously have you stay put for a while. Have this clear in your mind, Jin, in terms of ability, you have already died once.” (Makoto)
“!! That’s not it! It is true that I let my guard down a bit! I also admit that I wasn’t calm for a bit! But–!!” (Jin)
“…And forget that all those ‘bits’ are what link you to death? Can’t even make conversation with you. Like this, your life that was barely saved will only end up being layed down again in the near future. Shiki, whatever the case, have Jin return to the Academy. Having him here will only be an annoyance.” (Makoto)
“Yes, looks like there’s the need for quite the lecture.” (Shiki)
Shiki nods at my words.
At any rate, leaving Jin here on the pretext of training would only be a bother for the people of Kaleneon.
Also, leaving him with the reason of this -Sofia- doesn’t seem like it will be a plus for Jin at all.
“Please wait!! I want to do my best here for a bit more, just a bit more!!” (Jin)
“Rejected. As a teacher and as a superior, this decision won’t change. Hah…hey, Jin, the reason for that zeal of yours, is it as expected…the Dragon Slayer Sofia?” (Makoto)
How I should describe that younger Sofia.
For now, I decide to go with Dragon Slayer.
That’s right, I have to properly hear about this from that pervert.
Even though I have to go to Tsige regarding the matter with Aznoval-san…
“That person’s name…is not Sofia. She is my first sword mentor, close friend, and the first person I respected…” (Jin)
Hey hey.
A mentor, a close friend, and a person you respected, you say… They had quite the deep relationship?
But from what I see in the atmosphere of that Sofia, even if I were to imagine her past and present, I feel like it was all a one-way from Jin…
Please spare me from her being a past girlfriend.
Even if I met her after, it would make me feel bad.
“I wasn’t able to confess, but I think she was also my first love.” (Jin)
Are you an esper?
But she wasn’t his girlfriend.
Hm?
No, if I had to choose between both, it is probably worse than being a past girlfriend?
“And so…she is probably the woman I hurt the most in my life. Sister Miranda. In the past, she looked a bit more mature, but there’s no way I would mistake that person. She is the person who I intended to search for life, apologize, and atone for!!” (Jin)
I killed her once.
S-Sorry about that, Jin.
Looks like she is somewhat alive now, so is it fine to say it doesn’t count?
Ah…I now have one more secret I will definitely carry to my grave.
Since he has stated it with such certainty, I don’t think he has the wrong person…so just in case, let’s investigate the past of Sofia.
It would be nice if Root tells us about it honestly, but for now, let’s investigate over here as well.
Hah…
“…But the person herself is without doubt saying her name is Sofia. By the way, you who’s spreading trouble for the people around, haven’t given her a good impression. Not only did you ignore her direct warning about controlling yourself, you also acted in that way.” (Makoto)
“Hah?!” (Jin)
“Coming back another time would be the correct decision. We are not fiends, Jin. We will make it so that you understand her tendencies.” (Shiki)
Shiki is doing a follow-up.
Well, it is Sofia.
Even without Jin’s matter, I would have wanted information.
If it’s only that, there’s no problem.
“But I heard that this place is lacking personnel!” (Jin)
So he still intends to cling on huh.
Definitely no.
“About that, we will have Amelia and the other employees come here in shifts. At the very least, it will be better than you who only increased the workload.” (Makoto)
“Kugh… I…” (Jin)
“That’s how it is. Rest here for today. No need to work either. I will have Shiki come pick you up tomorrow. Jin, reflect upon the worth of the life you have been blessed with today.” (Makoto)
“…”
Oh, he grew obedient.
“Sensei…” (Jin)
Or not.
“What is it?” (Makoto)
“I am truly sorry…for troubling you with my own matters.” (Jin)
“Yeah, reflect plenty. Worrying is tiring. It would make me incredibly happy if you don’t do that often.” (Makoto)
“Totally agree.” (Shiki)
“Okay…” (Jin)
I get an agree from Shiki along with a big nod.
Jin also grew obedient this time for sure and returns a response while still tied to the bed.
I leave him as mummy Jin and depart from the room.
Okay, one task done!
Next is Tsige, to confirm if there’s information regarding Aznoval from Rembrandt-san or someone else.
Maybe I should also ask the adventurers to see if they have an idea. It seems he is like the pioneer of adventurers after all.
“Waka-sama, thank you for going through the trouble tod–” (Shiki)
“It’s fine. It is a boy that has high chances of working officially in our company, and also…” (Makoto)
“…”
“The matter of Sofia surfaced anyways. I will confirm with that pervert about what in the world is going on, and if possible, I want to wrap up the matter without having Jin hate me. Shiki, it might be troublesome, but I am counting on you for a while.” (Makoto)
“Yes, please leave it to me.” (Shiki)
“Well then, I will be heading to Tsige. After that, I will have to hurry and return to Rotsgard and Lorel. Is this kind of busy something to be happy about as a merchant?” (Makoto)
“Yeah, it must be.” (Shiki)
Waving at Shiki who is smiling gently and nodding, I cross through the mist gate that has the destination set to Tsige.
****
The location changes.
In an instant, hot and dry air circulates through my lungs.
It is the air of Tsige.
Until just a few moments ago, I was at a deep snowy northern region breathing out white air, so I got bewildered for a second.
Leaving the office room of the company, I greet everyone that’s working and depart.
As always, it is a town which sight changes every time I come, but this is not the time to enjoy it.
I hurriedly head to the Adventurer Guild.
On the way, the adventurers, merchants, and the residents turned to look at me again, but I didn’t respond to them.
How to say it…I have become quite the celebrity in this town.
It is fine when there’s nothing to do, but in times when I am in a hurry, I can’t just stop to chat each time.
“Hm? Isn’t that Raidou-kun? If I remember correctly, I heard you had gone to Lorel though?”
“Long time no see, Rembrandt-san. Because of business, I have returned for a bit. It looks like the town is operating as usual, but is the war the same?” (Makoto)
I promptly meet with Rembrandt-san and jump to the topic.
Looks like he is…a bit tired.
His exhaustion is showing more than normal. But contrary to that, his eyes are shining, and he seems to have higher motivation than before though.
Could it be the war has gotten worse, or it is about to get worse?
If that’s the case, I will have to tranquilize that one first.
It seems this is more of priorities first after all.
Seriously, things come one after the other.
“Umu. The war situation, or more like, the negotiations are going kind of…well. To the point that it is a bit eerie. There were stealth corps trying to infiltrate the town a number of times, but we have been able to intercept them without letting them get close.” (Rembrandt)
Oh, that’s unexpected.
Looks like it is actually going well.
“We have also made a secret agreement with the surrounding towns about maintaining the status quo when the matter of the independence was announced. If Raidou-kun brings corps that will serve as protection, Tsige can shift into the stage that’s as good as succeeded.” (Rembrandt)
“As expected of Rembrandt-san.” (Makoto)
“The people that caused a coup d’etat are beginning to calm down, so the ones that we have to be cautious about would be the royal family. Before that ‘something’, that was able to overturn the situation when the capital was about to fall, is turned towards us, as long as you return, we will be firm as a rock.” (Rembrandt)
Rembrandt-san nods at my words of ‘as expected’ as if saying ‘leave it to me’ and continues speaking.
As I thought, he did have a lot of influence in the political area as well.
In order to survive the world of commerce,  you will end up gaining those kind of things on the way.
Especially when you have surpassed a certain scale.
“Understood. We will also hurry as much as possible. We will try to succeed in a few days from now.” (Makoto)
“…You are the one that is truly dependable. And so, what’s this business? If it’s something I can be of help, I will lend you a hand.” (Rembrandt)
“I want information regarding a certain someone. It is a person by the name Aznoval. Do you know if he has some sort of connection with this town?” (Makoto)
“Aznoval… I do think I have heard of him before though. If I remember correctly, he is a legendary knight that appears in the fairy tales of Lorel.” (Rembrandt)
“Y-Yeah. So you knew.” (Makoto)
“The name at least. However, I can’t find any connection with Tsige and the name Aznoval. In the first place, I don’t remember hearing his name in anywhere but Lorel.” (Rembrandt)
“Is that so…” (Makoto)
I thought that maybe it wasn’t strange for him to come to the World’s Border, but at the very least, it seems like there’s no stories or records remaining that point to that.
“But well, it is a request from none other than you. I will try to investigate about it. If I learn of something, I will contact the Kuzunoha Company.” (Rembrandt)
“Thanks. By the way, Rembrandt-san…” (Makoto)
“Hm?”
“The situation seems to have turned pretty well, and yet, it looks like you are quite exhausted. Did something happen?” (Makoto)
“Ah, so it showed in my face huh. Sorry to worry you. This is a different matter. There’s a few things I was thinking regarding the layout of the town, you see. I am stuck in a variety of things. In the near future, I will most likely need you to get involved as well.” (Rembrandt)
As if enjoying it from the bottom of his heart and as if he was a child finding a secret base, he gave a broad smile.
Looks like this really is a different matter from the independence.
He looks like he is having crazy fun.
This person is incredible as always.
In this situation of grave importance where they are trying to gain the independence of a town from a country, he is already aiming for something new,  even though he is a central part of it.
And he is gleeful about it.
His vitality is on the genius level.
It makes me sad that only one thing is already too much for me.
But even if I have those negative thoughts, it won’t increase my ability.
I have to treasure the fact that I am able to see the work of this person and his way of thinking from up close.
If I am able to take in even a bit of it, it would be most satisfactory.
“Please do so. If I am able to work with Rembrandt-san, I will definitely participate. Well then, I am slightly busy, so I will be excusing myself now.” (Makoto)
“Alright. I as well have earned a lot of ideas thanks to you. Come whenever you please.” (Rembrandt)
I am truly grateful.
I lower my head deeply and bid my farewells to Rembrandt-san.
At any rate, he has completely turned the Adventurer Guild into his work office.
I leave to the area where normal adventurers can’t enter and head to the hall, and in an instant, the amount of people increase.
The hall that’s enveloped in heat, is covered with hustle and bustle, and there’s a great amount of adventurers.
Must mean there are groups that are getting ready to go exploring or hunting.
Or more like, the current Tsige might be like this in all times of the day.
It looks like the wasteland related requests are being taken pretty actively as well.
Looks like the seed spread by Tomoe and Mio has properly sprouted.
…Nice.
But in this congestion, it will be pretty hard to ask about Aznoval-san.
Seems like I will have to leave that for later and prioritize asking that pervert about the matter of Sofia.
“Heh~. Then Vegan-san went through the trouble of coming all the way here from Rotsgard for the sake of your sweetheart? That’s incredibly passionate!”
“In long distance relationships, the emotions burn stronger for both sides than when they are close to each other. There’s no assurance that person is still here, but the rumors of Tsige have been amazing lately. Even if my sweetheart is not here, this can still serve as a conversation topic. After that, it was all about going with the momentum.” (Vegan)

I am hearing a familiar voice?
Moving my head as if a *‘gigigi’* sound was coming out of it, I direct my gaze at the source. <metallic sound>
“This town itself is practically a sightseeing location, so I think Vegan-san won’t regret it.”
“I was suddenly able to meet a member of the number one party of the town, Toa-san, so just the fact that I was able to become an acquaintance of yours is already enough for a conversation topic. Honestly speaking, I didn’t think you would be such a beautiful lady.” (Vegan)
“Don’t joke around now. And, about that sweetheart of yours, did you get to know her at Rotsgard?” (Toa)
I also thought this at the time with Sofia but, why the hell are you here?
Acting as if you are a harmless handsome man.
“Actually, it was late at night you see, at his room.” (Vegan)
“Eh? ‘His’?” (Toa)
Toa makes a puzzled expression.
Well, of course she would.
The person that she guided here is a…man after all.
“That’s right. At Raidou-kun’s—” (Vegan)
The moment I heard that name coming out from his mouth… the disgust and many other things that were born of Root’s dark sides I have heard from a variety of places, and the sides he hasn’t shown me, I could feel it flooding out from my body.
“Who…” (Makoto)
“Eh?”
“To think we would actually meet—eh?”
Without making a sound, I closed the distance to the two and spoke.
Root instantly noticed me and was surprised, and was then surprised that my movements were not stopping.
“Is your damn sweetheart, idioooot!!!!” (Makoto)
Swinging widely, but properly sealing Root’s defense and evasion routes with the Magic Armor…
“Geh, you are kidding, right? R-Raidou-bugh!”
I smash a terrifying telegraphed punch.
Ah, I forgot to cancel the Magic Armor.
Not only was he send flying, my fist had caved in the face of the silver haired handsome boy as he stood up.
I have created quite the picturesque face.
“R-Raidou-san. Uhm, so you have returned.” (Toa)
“I will be saying this for future’s sake as well, I am not in a relationship with him, and I am a straight man that loves women!” (Makoto)
In the first place, your name is not Vegan.
Just how many false names do you have?!
Even though it saved me the trouble of going to Rotsgard, for some reason, this doesn’t make me happy at all!

      1. if he is a bot then the legendary truck-kun is one as well; cuz isn’t he always saying: “auto bots, transform and roll out?”

    1. I always read the chapter (title) first before commenting. You know …
just to say ‘Hi’ to Reigo first, then continue to read (and have my common sense shattered by Makoto).

  1. Thanks for the ch-Nooooo! Stretch it out! Make this series last as long as possible! Not 2 days! ;A;
I promise we can wait. We can talk about whatever’s going on in just this chapter for two days easy!

        1. He gives superior dragons a bad name. And guilds. And divinit-actually no.
Root probably drags the bell curve up a little when it comes to his place among divinity. That’s not really a compliment to him though.

  2. Well Makato he can be what ever you want him to be. Just know that Mio and Tomoe would either kill you or be crushed in grief, as they couldn’t take your virginity or first kiss. Haa now im wonder what root will say about Sofia. I can imagine him saying she’s Makatos now, so treat her nicely.

  3. Root’s a fairly unlikable character in this series. Honestly I hope he dies along with the goddess and Tomoki.

    1. I’m not sure about death quite yet, but at the very least I would shed no tears if he ends up in a relatively unfortunate situation for the epilogue.

  4. -Calls being mummified and restrained by bandages splendid treatment
-Insists on calling him a wimp
-Takes care to add thorns to his words
-Proceeds to rip him to utter shreds with how worthless he’s being
(- Killed his first love in an explosion of of mana)
Just what about this is a “Sweetheart Raidou”!? I’m not convinced this isn’t just Luck Envy at this point!

      1. That’s “Tough Love” Raidou.
Sweetheart would be something like having him say all these things, then reassure him somehow, or give him another chance. “Soft”, so to speak.

      2. hey, its still ‘SOFT’ if its “Tough Love” jin will be given instant healing salve -> cured and all bandages be removed -> have to survived Makoto magic -> bandaged again -> rinse and repeat at least 3 time

      1. To tell you this she was already Half dead or near death bed it was already stated even a low lvl mamono can kill her on spot at her current situation all she can do is hide and run no weapons at his disposal and her injury is so grave that need immediate cure. And at that time Makoto told Root That finish off his problem that he/she created.

    1. You are misreading the title.
The two terms refer to different parts of the chapter. Mummy Jin is the first part while Sweetheart Raidou hints at Root showing up. Most of the two term titles are like this, the different terms refering to different parts of the chapter.
      And thanks for the chapter.

  5. I was like “who’s vegan-san… this way of talking is this person… that…”
    and then…
“yep it’s himer… no doubt about it… oh caved in, nice~”

      1. so he is anti-vegan try to be vegan while acting like vegan but his anti-vegan trait come out instead. The world is harder to live these day.

      1. O.. officer. I swear there’s nothing wrong going on here. The light was green!

There is definitely no illegal package in the truck or anything of sort also.

      2. ‘ – ‘ )…..
how many times has it this month you been detained ? 1…..2…. ‘ – ‘ ) goddamnit who the heck let you bail out after this many violation against the rule !!! damnit !!

  6. I feel like this would have been more appropriate:
“Is your damn sweetheart, PERVEEEERT!!!!” (Makoto)
XD In any case, thanks for the chapter dear translator/s.

    1. Telegraph is more or less straight punch. That is why it is called telegraph punch as from point A to point B and too predictable.

      1. Fat lot of good that did Root with Makoto’s superior sealing technique.
It was a good choice from Makoto, since this meant his target could only helplessly anticipate the incoming pain. Apparently, Root’s eyes are really good at following movement, so even better.

  7. Naice Shat, Makoto. I give it a 9.7! (=w=)b
I would’ve preferred a flurry rush, but a single super telegraphed face-smash works too.
After all of Root’s handiwork we’ve been reading about, this was fantastically satisfying.

  8. Makoto exploded lol…
at times like this when the tension is prolonged, I usually wait until the current problems are resolved.
    thank you for the translation.

  9. Thanks for the chapt!
seems like makoto just announced his love for women, well then, wknder what kind of women will come and go for makoto on the coming soon chaps

  10. I don’t know how, why, or when, but I feel like Makoto’s announcement that he loves women at the end there is going to come back to bite him.
    Because that’s just his luck.
You know, can’t Root reincarnate anyway? There might be some issue with the adventurer’s guild system, but it feels like Makoto could kill him with little to no real repercussions.

    1. Nah, in earlier chapters Root said making a pact with the world cost him his reincarnation ability…. He/she is on its last life…… Unless Makoto saves it….

  11. I wonder what this chapter is all about? Well, let me get a reading and find out. Base on the comments, I’m sure I’ll get a laugh or two out of it or at the very least, a nice pleasant smile 😀

  12. fell asleep and just woke up o_o)
welp seeing that kind of treatment really a nice thing to do to ‘idiots’ so they knew their limit
and Makoto…. you need to connect your attack with another combo of air piledriver continued with grabbing his leg and then proceed with ‘HULK SMASH PUNY GOD’ attack after that combo of air throw and then finish with AzusaYumi arrow drill that will pierce through Root’s Butthole 😛

  13. Hmm….. just an opinion but wouldn’t it make sense if there weren’t any honorifics and instead of sensei it would be professor etc. since they are in another world where Japanese and such doesn’t exist except maybe Lorel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    1. It’s not like honorific is japan only brand. Other country has honorific too
But in chase in this novel Japan (and China) has influence being 1 of 4 great power country and bug (and root) implement RPG-like sister from Japanise who come over
      So let it slip

  14. I think the flying punch was meant for two reasons:
    1. Stop spreading false story about me, damnit ! (the punch is also for your meddling with my adventurer card)
    2. Get your hands off Toa, hentai ! (the punch is also for toying us with Sofia)
The ultimate-no pull back-flying punch, sprinkled with love (hate).

  15. “This is why I can’t handle lucky people. Makes me want to shout: ‘give me a bit of it!’.” … I feel like the net result would still be in the negatives even if you get a bit of luck from everyone in the whole world Makato…

    1. I like to think that a majority of the negative luck in the universe congregates within Makoto, leaving everyone else to enjoy semi-good luck.
Thank you, Makoto. For taking one for the team. 🙂

  16. Thanks for the chapter, Reigo-senpai.
Other than my own personal affair that’s almost over, I am late because of Assassin’s Creed IV. I’m just two sequences away from beating the game.
Anywho… 5 chapters left before we’re caught up. Someone… TIE REIGOKAI UP!!! Seriously, he’s going too fast. So fast I caught at least two grammar errors.
“For keep him in check” should be “For keeping him in check” or something similar. I’ll let you guys spot the other one.

    1. This?
“Don’t joke around now. And, about that sweetheart of yours, did you get to know her at Rotsgard?” (Toa) to
“Don’t joke around now, and about that sweetheart of yours, did you get to know her at Rotsgard?”
? maybe? I only know that you don’t start sentences with an and.

  17. It at this moment Root knew… HE FUCKED UP. Seriously Root, you know you should probably not tease the god like eldritch being so much yet you can’t help yourself mate. Also let us see how this insight to Root’s actions from his POV paths out.

  18. Root… Vegan… Vegetarian’s gonna be his/her next alias -.-
    Thankee for the chapter~
Wonder if Root’s eventually going to go under the alias of Pescatarian or something…

  19. “I am a straight man that loves women!” (Makoto)
Come on, Makoto. The first half of that assertion may be defensible, but not the second. Exactly what woman have you loved?

  20. …. then Root just change his gender…..if he really love Makoto….. not as guy and show his “gay” love….
he just like to messing around….. bet that “his Love” toward Makoto is just a pure curiousty like a Scientist toward his specimen….

    1. It’s an especially unwise thing to do to someone employing a master illusionist who can also teleport.
Oh and as an aside – Toa’s back in the story! Her group’s hardly had a footnote in 200 chapters so it’ll be interesting to catch up on them.

  22. The moment when root would have been better off as a female, but he chose to complicate the situation as a male instead.

  23. hahaha…. root changed name to vegan. I guess so that people dont know that he is root (the guild manager).
vegan seems like herbivor while root is more like carnivor.
    thank you!

  24. For some reason Makotos attack feels like it would look like Akumas shadowing attack from Street Fighter. The target is frozen in place as the attacker moves in an obvious straight line to hit the target. Afterward the attacker does a victory pose.

  25. Thanks for the chapter Regokai, well finally Makoto give Root a good smack. I don’t now Raidou you have two beutys at your beg and call and you do nothing to them, some rumors are bound to appear. Hope Root can give us a good explaining principaly about the hole adventures of origin and all.

  26. Your with two beautiful retainers that you refuse to bed and this vegan character seems to remember you well raido :3 i think the facts speak for themselves.
    *ignores vegan=root*

  27. Thanks for the Chapter !!!
    Hahahahaha nice punch lol….
    Next moment
Makoto : “Toa-san did you know a good place around here to buried monster, even for a superior dragon”
    Toa : “huh…. *Confuse face “

  28. “I will be saying this for future’s sake as well, I am not in a relationship with him, and I am a straight man that loves women!”
i don’t know Makoto, you’re surrounded by sexy women who would nothing more than to fuck you 24/7 and you have enough money and power to have every woman on the world yet you’re still a virgin and putting off any advance any woman does towards you.
    sounds pretty gay to me.

    1. Not to mention a free pass at one of the best burdel in Rostgard, with a Highly knowledgeable and former adventure prostitute willing to make any kind of sexual fantazie that you have come true.

    1. Right TSilva. Maybe she did on purpose. For the LOL. She’s funny that way.
However, I see too many people beginning to hate her. Pity.
Root is becoming a comic relief character. You know, the one that makes us laugh the hardest. The misunderstood joker.
      …..
In the end of the day, the funny ones are always the ones that turns out the most tragic. Laughter and smiles are but a front to cover up sadness and depression.
      …..
You all despise her now. Make jokes of her. Laugh at her.
Later on, you WILL regret what you did, felt sorry for her misfortune and all your misunderstand, and weep when she DIE a tragic death trying to help the M.C. Mark my words (7 July 2017).
This is a prediction but my prediction almost always come true. That’s why, I won’t hate her now. You are free to feel whatever about her, I am free to feel whatever about her… and I choose to be reserved for now.

      1. I can pity and condemn someone at the same time.
Root’s crossed more than a few lines already, so no matter what sort of backstory gets revealed about her, I’m fairly certain that I won’t excuse her actions.
That said, I can already see a lot to feel compassionate for with Root. Fundamentally, Root is a character plagued with her/his immortality. There’s the constant boredom, but also losing countless loved ones. I think it might have gotten even worse once she forcibly stopped reincarnating and started retaining all her memories.
If I remember correctly, Tomoe described the old Root as a really strict person that was obsessed with maintaining a balance and following the rules-a far cry from the pervert we know and an indicator of just how much meeting the precious friends and lovers across history changed him for the happier, if a little insane.

        1. She creates trouble for Makoto, true, but she’s not doing it for evil.
She’s… trying too hard to get his attention.
          Love has blind her.
          Pity.

          1. I would very skeptically call it love. I’d buy Lime-Hibiki before Root having a genuine interest in Makoto.
What I think he’s after is entertainment, plain and simple. He wants to play around, and Makoto interests him as a “unique specimen”, not really as anybody to be attracted to.
Actually, it could be argued that even Tomoe is like this, since she’s mostly interested in Makoto because he brings a color to her life she could never get bored of.
Interestingly, when Root found out that Makoto actually stopped his attack, he seemed to shut down momentarily-like his facade broke for a moment and he genuinely wasn’t playing around. What this implies about his motives I still don’t know, but the Root we see most of the time is very clearly not taking anything seriously.

          2. I’ve thought about what you said Psychronia and, well, I believe that love comes in many shapes.
If you have interest in someone that you think gave colours to your life, makes your life more interesting and not boring, I believe that IS one type of love. So it should apply to Root and Tomoe, in my book that’s love.
Though, don’t compare my answer to RL or Riajus out there. I don’t have much experience in love. No girlfriend either.
            To each their own.

          3. That’s true, and at its root love is just an attraction between two people for whatever they find attractive in each other.
However…Tomoe was actually considering throwing Makoto into implicitly stressful situations just to stimulate his growth and make him immortal-Mio noticed and very explicitly warned her. And I think the implication is that Root does things behind his lovers backs to milk as much entertainment from them as he can.
That’s already on the level of putting her personal interest in a person-or rather, her hobby-above the comfort and happiness of the person himself. Regardless of the various shapes love can take, that doesn’t really strike me as one of them.
Really, one could argue that immortal beings tend to have a harder time loving at all(though not impossible) since their morality quickly gets distorted.

          4. Yeah. That sounds correct. 🙃
So, can we agree that Root is in love? That she loves her hobbies more than her ex-husband?
She’s really looking at Makoto as a hobby rather than a person, huh. That pervert, I swear that she’s really going to get the ‘Bad End’ route in this story.
“I can see the ending !”
            *quoting a certain Kami nii-sama*
What on earth… I realized that our discussion turned into a spat about what love is and what is not.
That’s rich, coming from ‘forever alones’, one is a Truck and the other a guy in an asylum. Right ? Right …
(Even other readers dare not touch the topic we’re discussing. We sure are crazy.)

          5. Well no. My argument is that Root doesn’t really love any of them. Or in the very least, doesn’t actually love them all that much. If given the choice, I can’t see Root choosing the well-being/desires/happiness of his loved ones over his precious hobby. Tomoe is slightly more on the fence, but even with her…
Well, let’s picture a hypothetical scenario where Tomoe exposing herself to her precious Japanese culture somehow causes Makoto immense physical, emotional, and mental pain(maybe spiritual too, for the sake of it). At that point, I feel that Tomoe is more likely to part ways with Makoto(thereby “choosing” her hobby over any love she might have for him) rather than resolve not to indulge in it around it anymore. I mean, realistically Makoto would just power through the pain like it was nothing, but this is just a thought exercise for making my point.
If it were Root, I feel like he’s willing to take it a step even further by continuing his hobby while staying with his “loved one” and just resolving to ignore the pain he might experience-at the very most putting him into a coma so he doesn’t feel the pain while it happens.
Pssh. It’s because we’re “forever alones” that did not, can not, will not, and should not ever find love ( 🙂 ) that we’re able to analyze it from a unique perspective. Fundamentally, I’m pretty sure love is the most chaotic, violent, and brutal emotion there is. Hatred wishes it had the same game love did.

          6. Well in Makotoe and Tomoe figth, she said a line like “how could I have wanted to kill such a person?” I think that she pretty mutc fell for Makoto there, her devotion to him I believe is higher that her devotion for anything else. now Root I don’t know, I like to think that she did loved her first husband, and that she did what she did only thinking of him.

    2. It does work on getting his attention. :-S
Have to agree about the possible tragedy in his/her background. We’re already seeing hints of it with Apple.

  29. thanks for the chapter!
“Makes me want to shout: ‘give me a bit of it!’.”
makoto with luck wouldn’t be makoto
we will play a game, it’s called spot the ve-… ho, wait!

  30. Many Thanks for your hard work! Please take your time. Wouldn’t wish to stress a translator-sama.
I totally understand Makoto’s reaction. Not that I think myself of particularly unlucky, but I just hate when others don’t understand that their actual state is something to be grateful already. I hope the mummy get some common sense in his head, oh wait. It was broken several times before, this explain him lacking it.
I’m ready for more of that perverted colorful lizard.

  31. Thanks for the chapter. The whole Jin wrapped up as a mummy in a hospital bed reminds of a milk commercial. A wrap up injured man like a mummy is a hospital bed right next to a husband (broken leg) with family having cookies. One of the kinds gives the mummy a cookie and thanks them then we hear milk being poured by the family and start drinking it. The mummy starts panicking and trying to tell them he needs milk. And it ended “Got Milk”. Makoto did something like to Jin awhile back at a restaurant trying to get back at him. To bad the author did not have Makoto bring Jin cookies.

  32. I have finally read all the translations and have caught up. I have some things to say. Makoto and romance: not gonna happen. Do you know why? Answer is said in extra chapter 10:
    http://zenithnovels.com/tsuki-ga-michibiku-isekai-douchuu-pov/tsuki-ga-michibiku-isekai-douchuu-extra-10/
“The people with a life can go die and explode.”(Makoto’s Friends)*
That is said about guy (Ibuki) from archery club, who is popular among the girls with dates and stuff. In earlier extra chapter is written that he wants to be MC (Main Character). But he can’t be MC because target audience of this novel wouldn’t like him to be one. Target audience: Japan’s otaku.
For Japanese otaku, (male) MC has to be something they can relate: otaku. The moment MC gets to intimate relationship, he goes from otaku to normal with a life and gets rejected by otaku audience. Look at the works like And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online? and Watamote. In former case male lead gets harassed by his friends when girl comes to flirt with him and offers him bento (boxed lunch). In latter case MC (female otaku) has bitter feelings about her friend from middle school because she got boyfriend has become normal. Real people, Japanese otaku, can have those kinds of feelings about story characters, and even about (anime voice) actresses and idols. It has gotten into the news.
And that’s why Makoto isn’t going to have lover nor other kind of sweetheart in middle of the story, because he has to stay virgin otaku for audience’s sake. We can call it fan pandering. At best he will have one at the end of the story.

    1. Those of you who would like Makoto to enter the Dark Side, become demon lord, kill bug, and make full use of his harem, I have some recommendations to offer where MCs do much of that.
How to Build a Dungeon: Book of the Demon King
Main character is dark sorcerer, who later declares himself maou ( = demon king/lord). He is building a dungeon, summons demons, gathers virgin sacrifices, subjugates villages and towns, and gets lots of pussy. In addition he is very good at what he does and all his actions have good reasons behind of them. Overall it looks like he has read the evil overlord list and is abiding by it (for the most part anyway). My top recommendation.
      Re:Monster
Man dies and is reborn as a goblin. Armed with knowledge from his previous life as a human, he kicks ass, climbs up the ranks in his goblin tribe, and eventually lords over number of races just like Makoto. He also gets lots of pussy (human and elf ones too), though that doesn’t get much of screentime. Still manga is good and enjoyable read.
      HIMEKISHI GA CLASSMATE!
Or whatever. You can look up manga under that title. MC reminds me about Trashmoki and acts much the same ways. Except he isn’t as much of a jerk. If Trashmoki were to demand a girl from MC’s harem, I’m almost certain MC would trash Trashmoki’s ass. Whatever the case, MC charms girls, makes them his slaves, and gets to enjoy of their pussies. Lolis too.

      1. the 3 of them are pretty evil and rapists tho…
time to time I find on internet people saying “why can’t the MC be a real MC like Re:monster or maou no hajimekata”, I don’t understand since those guys a straight evils, there aren’t much of an “ideal” MC, they have fucked up moral, are selfish and cruel.
tho, why is it so hard to find a more “normal” relationship in japanese culture?in mushoku tensei, rudeus got laid, and it was still popular or did the popularity drop in japanese ranking?

    2. Your analysis is fine and all, except for one thing.
If Tsukiga went in that direction, I would go from really loving this story to really, really fucking hating it.
…Okay, so that isn’t a legitimate reason why it wouldn’t be what you say, but it does tie somewhat into the argument. You’re focusing way too much on the sales side of the story when the attention should be on the…well, story .
Sure, this is a business and a product like anything else. The author is going to have a target audience, and have to go through editing to make it as appealing as possible so that the novels will make as many sales as possible-especially since it’s become formally published as a light novel as opposed to the free web novel we’re getting.
But this story seems to be trying to do things slightly “differently” than the cliched formula. We still have an absurdly OP MC, but there have been swerves. Makoto became a merchant(and not a very good one at that) instead of an adventurer. He became a teacher instead of a student. He’s a philanthropic sociopath instead of a pure hero syndrome or “edgelord” MC. Heck, Hibiki and Tomoki are more or less parodies-or rather, deconstructions-of the typical Isekai heroes.
My point here is that the author is writing a story that tries to really contrast with the traditional story, and I’d like to think that he places at least as much value on telling a good story as he does on pandering to audiences for sales. Maybe you’re right and Makoto won’t touch his girls until the end. But that should be because the story plays out that way through clever plot setups rather than “oh, otaku hate that”.
The author could nudge it that way by manipulating events of the story, but never at the cost of a good story itself.
This is why I’ll never be a professional author, but if a target audience just doesn’t like my writing style, fine. And if they hate my story because they can’t enjoy wish-fulfillment or don’t see enough manipulative pandering, then they can go fuck themselves.

      1. Well thats a really good comment rigth there, kudos my friends. You are rigth I think the author is trying to deliver us the Isekai genre but with his own personal twitch that is in fact what a really artist needs to do imprint their own style. Is great how he mix the expected plot with unexpected moments or actions.

  33. It was discussed on BattleTech forum, which doesn’t seem to work for me right now. From my memory, in addition of what I have already said, Japanese in general are very reserved with intimate relationships. They take more time and thought in their relationships; thus relationships advance at slower pace than in “The West” (USA and Europe I guess). Authors of fiction take this into account, especially when main character is Japanese. Men, who actively pursue women, can be seen as unlikable, grandstanding jerks. I guess James Bond is in this category. And I say it again: normal relationships are not to liking of Japanese otaku; therefore MCs don’t/can’t have that in works that are aimed at otaku.

    1. One more thing I just remembered: marketing of the figurines and other sideline goodies. When all female characters (read: harem members) are on the same line and MC doesn’t have clear favourite, it is easier to make more different figurines for sale & profit.

    2. thats the problem with Isekai LN’s. theres pretty much 2 diffrent kinds of MC’s
douche fuck machines who fucks anything that movies & virgins who refuse to ever get close to any woman is afraid of sex.
why can’t they just act like a normal person, theres in a nice middle ground yet almost all MC’s in isekai’s fit into one of these 2.

      1. I don’t know, man, but there must be a third M.C type. The type that’s not wimpy, but also not into sex for the whole story.
Like, someone who doesn’t want to get ‘other-worldly strain of STD’.
Or something like that, being the main reason. Just guessing. 😁

        1. That would be funny, actually. If an MC went overboard with their power and sexed up the entire other world, only to get some kind of horrific fantasy STD from sticking his dick where no dick should ever go.

          1. …That would be the most amazing assassination technique.
A bit cruel to more people than it needs to be, but amazing nonetheless.

      2. Yeah…how about an MC that finds a partner, falls in love and gets reasonably intimate, and…that’s it?
Ooo…or better yet, fall in love, start a relationship, break up , and find someone else.

      3. Doesn’t Arifureta come close to that mold? He only bangs his vampire lover. Also, the story where the hero goes back in time to his previous self (forgot the name, but there’s a manga version) after killing the demon king definitely had a girlfriend before he time traveled. Of course, now that he time traveled, his previously dead love and the last girlfriend (who hadn’t met him yet) now exist at the same time. 🙂

        1. It’s funny you should mention those two together.
They fall in relatively weird places as far as harems go, but the thing is that they’re still harem stories in the sense that it’s one man surrounded by women. Arifureta, at the point I dropped it, seemed to be progressing towards a thing where the MC had a bunch of admirers that had to go through his “head wife” first..who, of course, kinda encouraged it.
Tsuyokute New Saga’s story, I’m not that certain of since I’ve only read the manga. Still, as far as relationships go, it seems to be more of a triangle between the two main girls you mentioned, with only a few other girls that MC is only on professional/amicable terms with.
That said, Arifureta and Tsuyokute New Saga open up a whole other dimension of MCs. That is, moral ambiguity. Arifureta tries to portray the MC as “right” and justified as much as possible despite having a pretty rotten personality. It…doesn’t really work on a lot of people, and works on others. It’s basically SAO in that regard.
Tsuyokute New Saga, on the other hand, portrays an MC that’s sinking to more and more moral lows as he desperately tries to do the right thing. You don’t question his intentions, but you do start worrying about the dark places he’s going, and the story never tries to glorify him with some moral high ground.
Tsuki ga(Say, how do we shorten this series name anyway?) does something fun with it. It portrays the very soft-hearted Makoto as a literal on-and-off sociopath. When he tries to be kind, the narrative marks him as naive. When he tries to be tough, the narrative marks him as horrifying. It’s exactly how people should be treating characters on both ends of the spectrum, somehow written into the same scary doofus.
Hibiki and Tomoki also stand on these extreme ends of the spectrum where Hibiki embraces moral ambiguity as a necessary evil and Tomoki lives in a world where he can’t be wrong.

  34. Thank you for the chapter.
I’ve been keeping up with this novel for almost a year now and finally decided to comment after watching some of Overly Sarcastic Productions videos abridging Greek Myths, and was wondering if anyone made the connection to the similarities between Makoto and Artemis.
Artemis is a god of the hunt, and uses a bow (like Makoto.)
She’s also a god of the Moon (like Tsukuyomi, who is fond of and blessed Makoto.)
She also doesn’t get along with Aphrodite (which is the theoretical identity of Bug.)
I bring this up because Artemis is also a god of Virginity, which makes me wonder if Makoto’s views on sex are actually meant to be more symbolic and his rivalry with Bug is meant to mirror her rivalry with Artemis.

    1. Read my posts above. Makoto must stay virgin in order to please Japanese otaku audience. MC has to give readers a feeling: “He is one one of us.” Makoto getting laid would break it for Japan’s otaku audience. That is the reason for his celibacy and anything else in the story are just excuses. Normal people with a life should go die and explode.

      1. The same thing can be said about fan service.
But not all they did is to cater to one type of customer only. There must be a grey area too. Like, taking into account under-aged readers and trying not to touch the sensitivity of religion followers.
Well, the author might change his/her mind in the middle and try to tap a wider range of readers (to include the despicable riajus in the reader demographic, later. Who knows).

    2. Wow, that’s a good idea Dweller.
Artemis, huh. But the story jumbles all sort of mythology; Western, Eastern, Occult, and some other that I don’t know of (the door god for example).. So I don’t know if it’s really the case. But. Your idea of the identity of that Bug is plausible.
Dwell more here. It’s fun here, in it’s own way. Don’t worry, I won’t hit.

      1. It really depends on the author’s interpretation of the mythologies, but the goddess doesn’t really fit Hera or Aphrodite.
The personality traits don’t quite match up with Hera’s too perfectly, and she seems to love her people a little more than I imagined Hera would.
Aphrodite on the other hand…well frankly, she’s a wimp. She’s the only Greek deity I can think of off the top of my head to actually get hurt and scared away by a mortal(during the Trojan War). Hardly the first person to come to mind when imagining a god that suddenly gained the power of Creation and possesses an overbearing power that dominates over everyone but gods of destruction. She’s also not nearly obsessed with pairing mortals off enough compared to what I know of her in the story.

      2. I thought Hera was a god of monogamy and marriage, and most of my knowledge of her actions generally only occurs after an occasion of Zeus cheating on her, and since Bug’s world advocates polygamy and since there was no indication of Bug having any sort of monogamous lover, I felt Aphrodite was more of a fit.
And as for what Psychronia mentioned, I know too little about Bug’s strength or how Aphrodite’s strength would translate into Bug’s world so I can’t really refute that point. However I believe the extra chapter about his parents circumstances when leaving our world showed that she had an interest matchmaking- something about finding Makoto’s parents new lovers before they came to her. As for the bit about creation, Aphrodite is a god of Procreation, which could be interpreted as creation of biological organism- which also match’s Bug’s way of doing things; she didn’t create the world, but she gave birth to new species to inhabit the world.

  35. Raidou don’t be so conceited!
Root may have met some other man, in his room, in Rotsgard, in the middle of the night. & followed them to Tsige. It’s possible! Lol
    Thanks for the chapter

    1. Yeah! Some other guy that also happens to be named Raidou!
      Stop jumping to conclusions, sheesh.
You know what? I bet Makoto’s actually just jealous and he’s just being tsundere about this.

  36. If Makoto wants to have pleasure but prefers not to touch his family then he should be like Satou who goes to pleasure quarters every time

  37. I will be saying this for future’s sake as well, I am not in a relationship with him, and I am a straight man that loves women!” (Makoto)……..pffffft biggest pack of lies he’s ever said…..been there what 1.5 2 yrs or so at this point has had Mio a tomoe all but sticking their bare asses in his face…. begging him to pick any whole or at least grope a tit….it’s gotten to the point that even random people are starting to point it out to him

  38. Jin is so spoiled.
    Rembrandt as always is amazing.
    Nice punch Makoto 😂.
    Thanks for the chapter Reigokai-san
