WM – Chapter 50: Takatsuki Makoto speaks about the Goddess

“…Why…did my charm…my singing…not work?”

The Harpy Queen who is now only a severed head was letting out a pained voice.

Eh? You can still speak?

“What’s with this woman…? Why is she alive? This is scary.” (Lucy)

Lucy is shocked.

Yeah, me too.

I feel like it might come out in my sleep, so please stop with the speaking severed head.

“That Bitch…where is Elder Sister-sama?” (Aya)

Sa-san is speaking to the severed head.

It is quite the surreal sight, but it is a serious topic, so let’s not say anything.

“…I don’t know… After she opened the entrance of the lamia lair, she disappeared somewhere…”

“…I see.” (Aya)

Sa-san’s voice portrayed her disappointment.

I see, there’s still one more target she has to take her revenge on.

So, what do we do about this severed head?

“The lifeforce of a monster that has lived for more than a hundred years is abnormal after all. But the source of power for monsters is their heart. With her head and body separated, she will most likely die soon.” (Nina)

Nina-san explains to me who is a bit scared.

What a relief.

“By the way, why were you not controlled, Takatsuki-kun?” (Aya)

“That’s something that I am interested in too!” (Nina)

Nina-san and Sa-san turn with a question of their own.

Lucy is using her staff to poke the head of the Harpy Queen.

Stop that.

“It is apparently difficult to affect me with temptation magic or charm skills. I have [Clear Mind] after all.” (Makoto)

“Hmm, I did hear that mind stabilizing skills can allow you to resist charms and illusions…” (Nina)

Nina-san is tilting her head.

“It is weird that it doesn’t work at all.” (Makoto)

“But it is thanks to Takatsuki-kun’s acting that I was able to get my revenge.” (Aya)

Sa-san is still burying her face on my chest.

It is already getting embarrassing, you know.

Can we separate already?

“Aya, get off Makoto already.” (Lucy)

Maybe she got bored of poking the head, Lucy came here.

“Eeh, just a bit more, a bit more…” (Aya)

Lucy tried to tear her away from me, and Sa-san is going no no.

It is like I am watching a little sister and big sister, and it is heartwarming.

But I would prefer if they did this without me in between.

“Now that I think about it, you have seen a Goddess, Takatsuki-sama?” (Nina)

Nina-san says this with deep interest.

“Yeah, she shows up in my dreams every now and then. She did so yesterday too.” (Makoto)

“Ooh! If it is after you saw an actual Goddess, I can understand why the charm effect of the siren song didn’t work at all!” (Nina)

Is that how it works?

“Takatsuki-kun, what’s a Goddess?” (Aya)

“Makoto is the believer of an Evil God, you know. She is apparently incredibly beautiful.” (Lucy)

“Yeah yeah, she is incredibly beautiful and tries to seduce me every now and then.” (Makoto)

“A-A Goddess tries to seduce you?!” (Nina)

“She had some real provocative attire yesterday, and she touches my body pretty often…” (Makoto)

That really makes my heart throb, so I would like her to stop that.

“Eeh…could that Goddess-sama be a bitch?” (Lucy)

Lucy! What a thing to say!

It isn’t true, right?

(Hey, I am a Virgin Goddess!) (Noah)

“The Goddess is saying that she is a virgin.” (Makoto)

I announce this for the sake of her honor.

“The fact that she says it herself is suspicious.” (Aya)

Sa-san, don’t say that.

“E-Everyone, saying all that about a God will invite divine retribution, you know? Ah, looks like the Harpy Queen has died.” (Nina)

While we were having a stupid conversation, the Harpy Queen apparently died.

Well, who cares.

“Is there some sort of rare material?” (Makoto)

“The feathers might serve as materials. But for a monster that has lived for more than a hundred years, their hearts are the most important part.” (Nina)

“Hoh, this?” (Aya)

Sa-san took out the heart of the Harpy Queen without any hesitation.

Grotesque…

“There should be a magic crystal in the heart.” (Nina)

“Hm, is it this?” (Aya)

There’s a magic crystal shining in orange on the hand of Sa-san.

“Ooh! What a splendid sized magic crystal. This will definitely be worth a good coin.” (Nina)

“There’s one other one.” (Aya)

“What?” (Nina)

Sa-san took out a magic crystal shining purple of around the same size.

“For some reason, it calms me down when I hold this magic crystal…” (Aya)

Sa-san was looking intently at the magic crystal.

“This magic crystal is most likely the one from the Lamia Queen…” (Nina)

“?! This is?” (Makoto)

I see, so it is a memento of Sa-san’s mother.

“Shouldn’t it be better if Aya were to keep it?” (Lucy)

“Yeah, it is Sa-san’s.” (Makoto)

I agree with Lucy.

“Eh? But…” (Aya)

“I think Goshujin-sama will also happily say the same thing.” (Nina)

“Thanks…” (Aya)

Sa-san hugged the magic crystal gently into her chest.

I really am glad we managed to get her revenge.

“Now then, how about we go back?” (Makoto)

“Are we going through the hole again?” (Lucy)

Lucy doesn’t seem to like the idea.

“It can’t be helped. There’s no other path.” (Makoto)

“We safely won, so—everyone! Silent!” (Nina)

“Someone has come.” (Lucy)

Nina-san’s eyes got sharp and Lucy took a stance with her staff.

After that, my Detection also reacted.

“Looks like a party of humans are fighting monsters.” (Aya)

Looking at the place Sa-san is pointing, there’s a group of around 20 surrounded by monsters.

“What should we do?” (Makoto)

“I leave it to you, Makoto!” (Lucy)

Hm, Sa-san and Nina-san are also looking at me.

“For now, I still have a bit of leeway in the number of times I can use Spirit Magic, so let’s save them.” (Makoto)

I took 1 week, and yet, it didn’t have much of a turn.

“Spirit-sans, Spirits-sans, please help me for a bit. [Water Magic: Water Whale].” (Makoto)

A giant water whale appears.

It swims in the underground lake area, and drags the party of 20 as it flails the monsters with its tail.

“Wawa!” “Hey!”

Lucy and Sa-san hugged me.

A massive amount of water washes to our location with the group of humans.

“Takatsuki-sama, I am surprised you can control water in such a skillful manner…” (Nina)

Nina-san says this amazed.

“Hm? These guys are the Sun Knight Order.” (Lucy)

“That’s true.” (Makoto)

They do have the phoenix crest at their chest.

That means he is also here?

“Is everyone okay?!”

The one who appeared was the Light Hero, Sakurai-kun.

“Hey there, Sakurai-kun.” (Makoto)

“T-Takatsuki-kun? Was that magic yours?” (Sakurai)

“Uhm, how to say it…” (Makoto)

“Ryousuke, are you okay?! Wait, hm? You are…”

The one who came right after was our classmate, Yokoyama-san.

“Saki-chan?” (Aya)

“Eh? Could you possibly be Aya-chan?” (Yokoyama)

‘No way, you were alive?’, ‘It has been a while’, ‘Where were you?’, ‘Your atmosphere has changed’, ‘Yeah, a bit’.

The two girls were having a heated conversation.

Sa-san and Yokoyama-san were good friends, huh.

“Thanks for saving everyone.” (Sakurai)

Sakurai-kun gives his thanks.

“What happened?” (Makoto)

The Sun Knight Order is an elite group with everyone having high class professions.

I don’t think they would have trouble with Mid Floor monsters in Laberintos.

“Aah, actually, we encountered the Taboo Dragons at the floor down, and ended up in a battle, but…” (Sakurai)

Looks like the remaining 2 Taboo Dragons are cooperating with each other and are a hard fight.

They were thinking about separating the two, but even the Low Floor monsters attacked them, and with them having the numerical inferiority, the Taboo Dragons attacked, and they retreated.

What we saw was after they managed to escape to the Mid Floor.

“Fortunately, there were no deaths, but this time around we failed…” (Sakurai)

It is rare to see Sakurai-kun with a dark expression like that.

“If the observer, the White Great Sage, were to be more cooperative, the situation would have been a lot more different though…” (Yokoyama)

Yokoyama-san says vexed with a scowl.

“That person is our insurance for when we fail. We can’t depend on them.” (Sakurai)

Sakurai-kun doesn’t seem to mind it.

“Eh?! The White Great Sage is here?!” (Lucy)

Lucy shouts in surprise.

“Hey, Lucy, the White Great Sage is the one that’s said to be the strongest in the continent?” (Makoto)

“Heeh, it is rare that Makoto knows.” (Lucy)

I learned this in the temple after all.

“It can’t be helped, Saki. We were told that we should be the ones to do something about the subjugation of the Taboo Dragons.” (Sakurai)

“But if we were to report that we failed, the Prince Faction will poke at that chance…” (Yokoyama)

“Yeah, we would be troubling Princess Noel.” (Sakurai)

I don’t know the details of it, but it seems like they are quite troubled.

Help the Light Hero ←

Don’t help the Light Hero

This is that.

The event where I listen to the Goddess’s request.

“Sakurai-kun, should I help out?” (Makoto)

  1. Thanks for the Chapter~ Aye, it’s time to do the Hero’s route, they better have a nice bonding moment before the Hero leaves for the empire again! Also wonder when that Princess is gonna appear, and what are the chances she’s going to like Makoto due to his calming nature?

    1. Is that Princess Noel or Princes Rozes (I think it is Rozes, the water Princess)?

That would cause such problems if the princess of the light country becomes enamoured with Makoto. Even if it is only in a platonic way it could potentially be used by enemy factions to undermine the Light Hero. Either way should be interesting

      1. Both princesses are here though Yokoyama was talking about Princess Noel and that they don’t want to trouble her. Anyways she’s the one who is engaged to Sakurai. The water princess Rozes is only rumored to also be engaged to him and frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if those are rumors she or the water country started themselves because they are angry they were forced to give up the Light Hero and they still want some connection to him. If it ain’t a rumor then that would be a problem since Makoto doesn’t like her because of how she treated him.

    2. I think it’s going to be a while before the princess appears seeing that she’s on the cover of the fourth(4th) volume of the light novel version which story shouldn’t be much different from this web novel version

    1. How so? The guy hasn’t shown a single Kouki trait yet. Are you just stereotyping him because he’s the light hero?

      1. Yeah basically. He just instinctively comes off as someone easily manipulated to me. Might not be but it’s just a vibe.

  2. Thanks for the chapter as always. Man idk about Sakurai being another kouki. If anything I’d think from what I’ve seen so far he’s more like Nell, ya know? He’s literally the hero so he ends up forcing himself to play the role instead of letting himself grow into it.

  3. I really hope he doesn’t just help him. At this point I don’t like how Makoto is being led by the nose. What I liked about him in the beginning was that he did things his way but now he is becoming the typical beta LN protagonist.

    1. What beta ln protagonist? He wanted to help aya so he helped her. So an alpha protagonist cant do what he wants? He just needs to do your wishes like going solo and what else? You don’t care about him being a beta or alpha, you just want him to go solo forever. Not like he’s being forced to do these things like can’t say no due to the surroundings. If he feels like helping helps, if he doesn’t feel like it he doesn’t. As simple as that

      1. Never said he needed to go solo. Him working together with his real friends is perfectly fine. Helping Aya with her revenge was also completely fine, never said it was not. My issues are with other things which are obviously not in his best interest. For example, it is clear that Noah is actively manipulating his actions and he obviously knows it but he just blindly follows “instructions” and doesn’t even question her or anything. Now everybody is pushing him to be “friendly” with the light hero and so he does it, even though he clearly hates everybody in the light hero’s party bar the hero himself with whom he has an awkward relationship. Same thing with where all this is going. Why should Makoto risk his life to help the light hero with his political problems? If the light hero doesn’t complete the taboo dragon mission then there will be political problems for his “faction” but what does that have to do with Makoto? If this was some life or death matter, it would be one thing, but it is not, it is just a political inconvenience. I wanted Makoto to have his own path, wishes, ambitions etc. I started reading this because it looked like it was going in that direction but now he is slowly turning into a puppet for his “goddess” and the political powers at play and he just allows it to happen.

      2. @svyatoslav I really like how everyone and they mothers have by now forgot how in the first chapter Makoto liked best the “hero that became evil overlord” end of his game, but didnt managed it because of the low battery on his handheld game.
I mean, come on, if that’s not foreshadowing I dunno what’s it’.
I think Makoto is following his “game sense”/”RPG quest line” just to get to the end game and then go on the dark overlord path.
So it’s not he that became a beta, it’s him choosing to do the “right side quest” to get what he want.

      3. Don’t most worshippers do what their priest tells them their god wants? Makoto’s goddess flashes her hits at him and makes suggestions that are always helpful.
Yeah, he knows Noa is manipulating him. But she doesn’t order him to do anything. You’d be more obedient if you ever had a girlfriend.
Noa isn’t near as demanding as his harem (still in denial of) members.

    2. Makoto didn’t know that the ones he was helping at first were the Light Hero’s party. As for him helping them and following the Godess requests, we need to remember that he is a RPG player at heart. So, when presented with a quest, this is really tempting for him like a kid in toy/candy shop, even more when his [RPG Player] skill is triggered. That is because of this skill tempting him and his [Clear Mind] that he goes ahead in dangerous situations most of the time with his RPG mania. ^^
I think this situation is the same and if the Water Kingdom’s Princess was involved here, he would have refused straight away. But having just awkwardness with the Light Hero and no dislikes in particular, he most likely see this as a Quest event where he is the support character of the Hero that he can drop if things got dangerous and tell them to runaway.
As usual, we know that he is underestimating the situation because of his mindset and things will go wrong or all over the place so, lets give him a chance and see what will happened? x)
The author shows us that he loves to play with us and the templates to turn them the other way around after all! 😉

  4. I wonder if the Water Whale spell was an original or not.
Makoto keeps using spirit magic centered on sheer quantity and momentum of water for the attacks, but seems to avoid freezing it into ice. Does he need more affinity with the spirits, or a higher magic proficiency?

Did the Harpy Queen eat the Lamia Queen’s crystal to evolve into a Siren? Will Sa-san evolve too if she devours her mother’s one?

    1. I’m pretty sure the harpy queen already had that siren charm power before she got the lamia queen’s crystal. The mage that helped her kill the lamias was probably somebody she charmed with her siren powers. Also it’d be weird to get a siren power from a snake monster’s crystal. You’d expect that from an actual siren’s crystal instead.

  5. I can imagine Harpy queen watching over their conversation thinking…

“These idiots are the one who defeated me? And I am to die listening to their stupid banter?”

Next, Hero route. How will our Rowdy band of misfits be out of assistance? Can they handle 2 Taboo Dragons? Find out next time on Dra… Ah I mean, thanks for the chapter!

  6. Thanks for the chapter!!😉

imo they should have helped them but not shown themselves. Now, I think they will get some attention after this part.

Looks like Aya will not hold back anymore towards Makoto😂❤️

I think Aya and Lucy should become a follower of Noah as well.

  7. Helping heroes is always the start of more troublesome things. Hahaha. How will Makotot fare from this? And Harpy Queen(?)(is she still one? Said she evolved) is too sad on her ending being treated like a stone in the roadside. And lastly it makes me wonder why the goddess seduce Makoto-kun every time? Anyway thanks for the chapter!

  8. “and Sa-san is going no no.” Aw that’s so cute!
Also lol to the Queen Harpy, completely forgotten thanks to Makoto romcom.
Also also thanks for the chapter~!

  9. Thanks for the chapter. Too bad big sis wasn’t there. A Hunting we’ll go. A hunting we’ll go. Don’t think he should get involved with the hero or his group. Everybody kind of ignored or put him down for not having major power. Hell, he spent a year just trying to improve himself. Now, that he can do some damage; don’t want to see him used as a tool. Abilities and powers are becoming stronger. His group is becoming stronger, that’s what counts. His classmates that were there didn’t check on him and thought he was weak and useless. Strengthen his set and move on.

    1. Go back to the start of the story. Sakurai neither belittled MC or ignored him. He asked for Makoto to join his group and Makoto turned him down.

    2. @yseris is right, Sakurai was more trying to help him back then because he is probably a goody two shoes and with his strength he has the leisure to do so unlike others more concentrated on their own suvival.
And right now he is more likely simply looking for another male friend to help him letting some pressure off of all these political strifes he is trapped into and have someone to talk to and support him emotionaly which he can’t do we the girls around him.

  10. By the way, where do the donations show and if you make one time does that count towards that months?

    1. The donations show at the right side in the desktop website.
Sponsored Chapters are every sunday, and when the goal is met, the ( ) will show how many sponsored chapters there are left to translate.

  11. Heh I’ll admit I laughed out loud when I read that Lucy was poking the harpy queen’s severed head.

Oh so at least Makoto isn’t completely dense. He at least realizes that Noah is trying to seduce him. Now if only he’d figure it out with the rest of them…

So looks like the elder sister is still alive somewhere. Sa-san’s revenge isn’t complete yet then. Anyways she should eat both magic stones or at least one of them preferably her mother’s stone. Eating magic stones are probably how monsters evolve and that’s probably why the harpy queen also had the lamia queen’s stone in her own heart. She probably just hadn’t yet processed it or refined it or whatever you want to call it. Also I’m a bit surprised that she didn’t really react when she found out that Makoto is the believer of an EVIL god.

Isn’t this the second time already Makoto was given the option to join the hero because of his gamer skill? Fine just do that then. This is probably like one of those quests that you have to do in order to advance the plot or questline.

  12. Thanks for the chapter! ^^
The Harpy Queen pulled the speaking head trick and got ignored so quickly! XD
Such a pitiful death for a Boss Monster! x)
And here goes the predictible development! How will the author play with us in this one? ^^

  13. Here is a typo I think: What we saw was when them after managing to escape to the Mid Floor. -> What we saw was them after they managed to escape to the Mid Floor. or What we saw was them when they managed to … . or What we saw was them after managing to escape to the Mid Floor. ?
Thanks again for the good quality of your translations and your hard work! ^^

  14. Now this is what Noah wanted, suspicious af, as others already said i think the taboo dragons are Noah’s doing and the encounter she mentioned was the light hero and not ayaya

  15. The ultimate diss for a boss monster is to be ignored in their final moments while the killers chat about a perverted goddess. It’s good to see Takki actually notices that.

And speaking of the goddess, I wasn’t expecting us to explicitly join in on the subjugation. That’s…pretty neat, actually. It’s better than a coincidence or secret support. His Water Whale certainly left an impression.

Boss crystal, huh? Does…Does Sasaki eat it, or…?

  16. NOOOOOOOO you don’t have to help him!!!! leave them, isn’t like they have ever helped you either (especially those THOT surrounding the dumbass hero) (╬▔皿▔)╯
