“Momo, as an apology for being late to get you, I will avenge you.” (Makoto)

I said to Momo.

“Eh?” (Momo)

She raised her voice and her cheeks dyed pink.

Did I act a bit too cool there?

“…Did I hear wrong there? I thought I heard the foolish nonsense of livestock.” (Balam)

Balam furrowed his brows in displeasure.

Looks like he can hear me.

“Abel-san, can I leave Momo to you?” (Makoto)

I entrust Momo to Hero Abel.

“Please wait, Makoto-san!” (Abel)

“Makoto-sama!” (Momo)

The two are still flustered, but I faced the Impenetrable Demon Balam.

“Kill everyone except the Hero.” (Balam)

Balam gave his order bluntly.

“““Yes sir!”””

“““Guooooooooooo!!”””

The demons and monsters jumped at us at the same time.

“Kuh!” (Abel)

“Hiiih!” (Momo)

Hero Abel is protecting Momo who is screaming.

I call to the surroundings.

“XXXXXXXX (Spirit-sans, please do).” (Makoto)

(((((Yes!)))))

I requested to the Water Spirits in Spirit Language.

Right before the swarm of monsters crush us…

“[Ice World].” (Makoto)

The monsters closeby were frozen.

But there’s still a lot of enemies.

I could hear Balam going ‘Hooh…’ impressed.

“DIE!!”

A demon holding a pitch black giant scythe jumped at us.

“That’s…?!” (Momo)

“The Vampire Commander!” (Abel)

I heard Momo and Hero Abel.

Is it a famous demon?

“XXXXXXX (Undine, please).” (Makoto)

(Yes, if it is the request of our King.)

It seems to be a strong enemy, so I ask Undine.

…What’s with the ‘our King’?

I should confirm that later.

“Water Magic: [Frozen Barrier].” (Makoto)

I use the mana of Undine to use Saint Rank Water Magic.

“Guwaaaaaa!”

The Vampire Commander person was frozen with barrier and all.

It has been one dimensional for a while now…

Well, that’s fine.

Freezing them is the most efficient method after all.

“Attack them all at once.” (Balam)

Balam ordered to his subordinates with a slightly angered tone.

The monsters and demons rush at us like a tsunami.

I borrow the mana of the Water Spirits and Undine to fight them back.

The mana of Spirits is infinite.

But I lost control in the past and the Great Sage-sama got angry at me though…

Is it thanks to my 999 Water Magic Proficiency?

I can easily use any spell.

I glance at Hero Abel and Momo.

The two had their mouths wide open.

When my eyes met with Momo’s, she said ‘That’s incredible, Makoto-sama!’ with sparkling eyes.

Her looks are that of the Great Sage-sama, so it feels weird…

“You bastard! Where are you looking?!”

“[Ice World].” (Makoto)

An excited demon jumped at me, so I froze him.

There’s still a lot of enemies.

Let’s do this without lowering my guard.

◇POV of a certain Demon Lord Confidant◇

I am called the Impenetrable Demon, Balam. I have been serving Bifrons-sama for 500 years.

I have ended uncountable fools who aimed for the Demon Lord-sama.

This time around it was the execution of the Heroes Setekh captured.

The stupid gargoyles ended up letting a number of Heroes escape, but one of them brazenly came back.

‘Definitely kill the Light Hero’.

That’s the order of the Great Demon Lord-sama.

It has been over 1,000 years since the world has become peaceful for the demons.

If this so-called Light Hero is a worthy enemy, I would like to cross blades with them.

But I have no expectations.

Only few can pose a threat to the Demon Lord-samas.

I haven’t even met a decent fighter in 100 years.

Until today.

My subordinates are being frozen one after the other.

“Interesting…” (Balam)

An opponent with backbone.

People who are acting rude right by the vicinity of Bifrons-sama.

However, compared to the Lightning Hero who is trembling, he is acting completely composed here.

“I am the Impenetrable Demon Balam! The first confidant of the Demon Lord Bifrons-sama!” (Balam)

I unsheathe the magic sword at my waist.

This is my first time introducing myself to a human.

The human mage glanced at me, but didn’t answer.

“Introduce yourself!” (Balam)

I shouted, but there was no response.

I was disappointed.

In the end, he is just a lowly human.

To think he can’t even do honorable introductions as warriors.

Then, I will cut you down in one stroke.

“Impenetrable Sword: [Darkness Cut].” (Balam)

A giant dark sword wave was released from my magic sword.

“XXXXXXXX.”

That mage speaks in unfamiliar words and a giant barrier blocked the sword wave.

Ice World, huh.

It is impressive, but it is not as if he has infinite mana.

When you run out of mana, it is your end.

I used my magic sword to continue my attack.

Now, how long will you last?

◇◇

“Impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible…” (Balam)

My slash, stabs, magic; everything was blocked by his magic.

By the time I noticed, my subordinates had been wiped out.

Just how many spells did he even use?

Why is his mana not running out?

It doesn’t make sense.

He hasn’t moved one step from his position.

He continues shooting spells with a cold face.

“XXXXXXXX? XXX…”

He has been talking in a language I have never heard before in a direction no one is in.

…No, is that the Spirit Language that Cain-sama uses rarely…?

Is he a Spirit User?

But even if that’s the case…

He looked over here with eyes that I can’t read…

He slowly walks towards me.

“C-Come!” (Balam)

I take stance with the magic sword that has been passed down for generations, and pour all of my mana into it.

“Uooooooooooohhhh!!” (Balam)

My ultimate technique that lowers my lifespan when used.

I put my all in this attack through my magic sword.

99 slashes that cut down any enemy into small pieces attack him.

But…

“[Frozen Barrier].” (Makoto)

My ultimate technique was blocked by a heartless ice barrier.

My blade stopped without even reaching him.

“Kuh!” (Balam)

I fell on my knees after unleashing my strongest technique.

The ground was frozen.

A cold wave was slowly creeping up.

And he approached me.

Why is a mage closing the distance…?

But this is my chance.

M-My last resort…

It is an underhanded technique that’s unlike a warrior…

“Don’t, Makoto-san! The eyes of Balam are the magic eyes of fear! If you look at his eyes, you can’t move from the fear!”

The Lightning Hero shouts, but it is too late.

“This is the end!!” (Balam)

I activate the Magic Eyes of Fear, and look at his eyes.

He stopped moving…or was supposed to.

This is the first time I felt fear after I made contact with the eyes of an enemy.

“Aaah…aah…”

I couldn’t speak.

He hasn’t been responding to me for a while now no matter how many times I called him.

I understand now.

Livestock that doesn’t even know how to introduce himself.

That’s how I looked down on him.

That in the end he was just a barbarian and not a warrior.

But that wasn’t it.

His eyes…the eyes he is using to look at me…were those of someone looking at an ant crawling on the ground.

Or a mosquito flying close to the ear.

The person that I acknowledged as my enemy was looking at me as if I were just a mere pebble on the road.

He had no interest in me.

He…didn’t think of me as his enemy.

I couldn’t move.

My body has been frozen from water magic.

But my body that has been given the blood of Bifrons-sama is undying.

No one can kill me…is what I thought.

And yet, what’s this feeling?

I will be killed.

Despairing fear was attacking me.

That man unsheathed the dagger at his waist and raised it high.

“Water Goddess Eir-sama…I offer it to you.” (Makoto)

Water Goddess Eir!

So you are the Water Hero, huh!

But the Water Hero should have been killed by Cain-sama…

A new Hero was born?

No matter how you see it, that’s way too fast!

No, in the first place, the Water Hero is the weakest of Heroes that always gets killed first.

He should be the Water Hero, but…

Just…what in the world are you?

My head was in chaos, but I couldn’t move my body.

The small dagger pierced my body.

The next instant, small lights surround the area.

(Kuku…kuku…kuku…kuku…)

(Kya! Kya!)

Wa?!

They suddenly appeared in front of me…babies with small wings.

Servants of the heavens that were smiling uglily with their teeth in full view -Angels.

They began to eat my body.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!” (Balam)

I screamed.

I am being eaten alive.

The pain, fear, and most of all, my instincts understood that my soul itself was being eaten.

This is impossible.

Even if I have received an undying body from the blood of the Demon Lord-sama, if my soul is eaten, I can’t revive.

“Momo, Abel-san, I am done.”

He turned around and was returning to his comrades.

“…W-Wait! …Who in the world are you?!” (Balam)

I wrung out the last of my strength to ask this.

There was no response.

But he looked back.

And then, he looked at me as if in wonder.

“You can still talk?”

He muttered as if pitying me.

Aah…

He is no Hero.

The Heroes I have confronted until now have righteous indignation, had hatred because of the oppressed humans, were avengers that had their loved ones killed; all of them would move from powerful emotions.

But he is different.

Sense of righteousness, hatred, revenge; he has none of those.

It was as if this were his ‘job’.

He kills demons as if it were breathing.

A death god.

A death god for demons.

Please be careful, Bifrons-sama.

The abominable Gods of the heavens have sent an assassin.

Please forgive me for perishing here.

I was eaten by the spell of the human that I looked down on as livestock…and died.

      1. 界 refers to a space. 結界 specifies lit. ‘barrier’, while 聖 is something spiritual or holy in nature, 氷 is something icy.

Since his powers originate from spirits, a literal translation of 聖氷結界 would be Spirit Ice Barrier.
I don’t see anything wrong with Frozen Barrier though.

You could make anything up. Spirit Frost Shield wouldn’t be too far out there.

      2. i don’t know the japanese, but from chinese pov, 界 can mean 界限 which is limit/boundary, 边界 which is more specifically boundary, or 世界 which is world.
世界 conveniently is the kanji for sekai, or world, so this is set in stone.

  1. Thanks for the chapter!

Ah, Makoto, you acted cool as if it’s a natural thing to do. You better be prepared for loli clinging to you xD

Well, it’s Makoto’s job, that’s not wrong. Althena-sama said to Makoto to save and assist Abel-san after all, no emotions are involved lol.

Damn Makoto you beated a Demon Lord Confidant like it’s nothing, just few years ago you can’t even make a waterball as big as a volleyball.

    1. yes Im proud of our boi… we watched him grow from someone who can barely kill goblin to someone toying with confidant of demon lord

      1. The time he killed goblins I wouldn’t count as barely. He made quick work of the leader, let one escape and drowned the rest. That was a clean victory in spite of what the people back at the temple said. In general, people here seem to count on the tier of a skill too much, seemingly dismissive of how it is used.

      2. Not barely. Sure, with difficulty, but it was a complete victory. Truth is, that first battle with the goblins still remains my favourite battle of the whole series. No grand spells, just the use of the little weapons he had and his brain to overpower a dangerous enemy.

      3. Well most of RPG games basically something like that, level 1 mission : save a kitten

Last arc : Kill the Demon lord or God lol

    2. A few years AGO? You have it wrong, 1000 years LATER he can’t make a waterball as big as a volleyball. The unnecessary complications of time travel.

      1. The one that is a jerk to Makoto? He seems mellowed out once Makoto was appointed as the water hero. Perhaps the reason why is that there is a residual hatred fro Makoto and made him uncomfortable toward him.

      2. Yeah, I thought about him at first: both personality and skills fit. That said, a powerful spirit migjt be better suited to being a hero?

  2. I really love POV chapters like this. We could see how others percieve makoto and his antics. Looking at it in this perspective really shows how cold-blooded Makoto handles things, sasuga calm mind-san.

    1. ye same its great and its needed especially in this novel where mc is basically emotionless thanks to his overuse of calm mind

      1. Didn’t setekh petrification eyes work on him?. I think that’s true Rpg games skill defend him but not because he don’t see directly into his eyes but Rpg skill made him immune to any kind of mind attack (charm, fear, etc).

      2. i think RPG player protect him Mental stat aliment, it like he is see the world from behind the screen like a game player. he won’t feel the fear or ect. but any normal aliment will still work, like poison, petrification, paralysis, burn, frozen and others

      3. The thing about RPG Player or Clear Mind is one thing. But the thing about Setekh having eyes all over his body you’re just plain wrong. Setekh only ever had two eyes. What he had all over his body was mouths.

          1. Yeah, so now your theory as to how Makoto got affected by Setekh’s eye attack despite being supposedly protected by RPG Player has holes, so allow me to put mine forward :

Makoto has two components, the RPG Player Makoto behind the fourth wall, and the Avatar Makoto. Avatar Makoto is a meat puppet, literally just his physical form people interact with and mistake for the whole Makoto, everything else is RPG Player Makoto, his mind, his soul, his Strings of Fate, etc.

Things like Setekh’s petrification go for his meat puppet’s body, which resists with its measly stats, and thus instantly petrified with no real resistance to speak of. Things like charm try to get to the meat puppet’s mind, which is nonexistent. There is no channel between the meat puppet and RPG Player Makoto’s mind, just as there is no connection between your dumbass charmed player character (Marin f***ing Karin) and you, the player. The difference is that, Avatar Makoto really has nothing to affect, so RPG Player Makoto doesn’t have to gnash his spiritual teeth as his meat puppet does dumb things. Clear Mind on the other hand, let’s him keep his cool, his RPG Player’s cool.

Or something like that, really everything is conjecture at this point. The clearest definition of RPG Player’s working we have to date is Noah’s saying that it gives him an out-of-the-world perspective, which can go any which way.

  3. Thanks for the chapters
I have imagined Makoto with same face as Tsuki Makoto the microwave salesman alternate version, BECAUSE HE DIDN’T SEEM TO HAVE USE CLEAR MIND AT ALL IN THIS FIGHT !

      1. Assassinations doesn’t necessarily needs stealth. According to dictionary anyway, the importance of your targets. politically or socially is what made normal murder to be classified as an assassination. You can stroll in broad daylight and throwing a grenade by yelling, if your target is an important person that still counts as assassination.

  4. Thanks for the chapter! Now then…

Ladies and gentlemen! The bets are off! Which hero will Balam turn into? I call Gerald 4dalulz!

  5. “This is the first time I felt fear after I made contact with the eyes of an enemy.
His eyes…the eyes he is using to look at me…were those of someone looking at an ant crawling on the ground.
Or a mosquito flying close to the ear.
The person that I acknowledged as my enemy was looking at me as if I were just a mere pebble on the road.
Sense of righteousness, hatred, revenge; he has none of those.
It was as if this were his ‘job’.
He kills demons as if it were breathing.
    A death god.
A death god for demons. ”
Makoto, you are really scary ! Now I understand why Furiae was so scared of you. You don’t seem to give any interest to your enemies. You are the worst guy to fight for battle junkies and warriors ! Not even Misumi Makoto was as scary as you !

Someone who wield a dagger kills an immortal being. And he is called a death god ?
    https://i.imgur.com/o1dkrbp.gif

    1. yes… makoto became worst type of enemy to fight… unpredictable one. You cannot read his emotions or anything cause he has none nor you can think about him using all mana cause he has all mana on world thanks to spirits

    2. Glad I wasn’t the only one that thought of that.

He probably won’t think of it, but Makoto should just go free Noah, she’s in a temple full of….water, and the dagger can probably cut the bindings. Lol

      1. The dungeon is guarded by the Divine Beast Leviathan that fought in the Titanomachy and is said to be stronger than even Iblis so no it wouldn’t be easy.

    3. one of those alt timeline misumis could be more terrifying though. or whatever it was that one priestess saw in him.

  6. Curious that he offered him to Eris instead of Althena or Ira-chan, I suppose that the same spell work with the other goddess, but maybe he have to use a different spell for each goddess or didn’t thought about that. Also, he should find others ways to end the enemies aside of offer them to goddess, I’m now curious of how he defeated Bifrons.

    1. Well, his knife has the runes or whatever carved into it by Eir that allows him to do that offering. He can’t offer it to anyone else

      1. Runes or something like that. In any case, Eir did something to the dagger in addition to teaching Makoto the technique. In all likelihood he can’t do it without the modified dagger.

Also, Eir, not Eris. Makes you wonder if there is an Eris too here though.

    2. Actually I think that’s going to be good ticket to the future. Ira said it would take a few hundred years before they’re able to send him to see the future. When he offers the should of his enemies to a goddess his life expectancy increases, iirc it was by a decade when he did that to Shut. All he had to do is offer a few dozen powerful Dennis l demons to Eir and he’ll be able to do return. I doubt he’ll be young though.

      1. Well, that’s certainly a good point, it’s at least a sure way to reach the future again, though I think is more difficult to increase the lifespan each time, like a exp bar, but I could be wrong.

      2. I’m pretty sure they didn’t say it would take a few hundred years to return him to the future, but that they couldn’t. I’m pretty sure the way Makoto is going to return is using the Time Spirits Noah so kindly showed off with her “Time Spirits, turn back time,” when she destroyed everyone’s sanity. Pretty sure time is related to the destiny attribute, and it was the Destiny Goddess who used the time travel spell on him, and Ira so kindly gave him said destiny magic in the same chapter. Just train it like he trained water magic, and have the spirits warp him back

    1. Abel will worship him and will take after makoto for sure (even in book it was mentioned that abel liked to act alone so I think he took it after makoto) and momo… well we have new vampire loli waifu

      1. I doubt it, after reading these recent chapters I am operating in the idea that they are deliberately not including Makoto and removing his name in histoy as to not affect 1000 years later therefore Abel was only carried by Makoto and the one who foughts the demons alone is Makoto well that is if Abel really a male honestly he is suspicious he might really be a she

        1. ye that is also suspicion I had early on but I dont think its possible anymore and more think that makoto is “the dragon that cleared sky” from the story while abel got powerleveled by makoto and raised to be the savior

Our MC really did become more inhuman. I like how the author describe him just like other badass protagonist who look down on the opponents who’s weaker than them. 10/10 for this

Now I’m curious about the situation in the present time. I hope the author make the stories about Makoto’s companion after he left.

  8. Thank you kami-sama.

Seems im early today. Well now the goddesses should kmow of his existence. I still say he’s the light hero.

      1. He lost concentration because he hadn’t really slept -if at all- since he got here so he had only been able to call one spirit at that time.

      2. Besides the lacking sleep part, perhaps Momo’s fate (becoming the Great Sage we know) was just too strong in this case. So it happened either way. Perhaps the circumstances where a bit different in the original history but ultimately ended the same.

        “Harvey knew…”

  9. Yeah, Makoto is actually really cold-blooded. One might forget it cause his monologue is usually kind of silly, but in the PoV of his enemies, he’s like an emotionless murder machine. Alexander still has PTSD. Here we can see that he didn’t hesitate even in a single bit to kill all of them, he probably just felt disgusted at the sight demon being eaten and pitied him. Its nothing personal, its just work.

      1. “…No, my mistake, huh… You are not that person…”

        “…?”

The Demon Lord calmed down his hostility and made an incomprehensible expression.

The ghastliness of before subsided, and his handsome face warped into a slightly displeased one.

        “…Who are you, human?”

        “…A Hero?” (Makoto)

The Demon Lord made a dubious expression.

No, what else could I be?

“…A Hero, huh.. He wasn’t a Hero… You really are someone else, huh. I can’t tell humans apart…”

        “…?”

  10. When you think he’s no match for you then he pulls out his ultimate trump card, the reverse uno card.

Undine calling Makoto as king though, is this the effect of being a former Water Spirit King? So I guess he no longer needs normal spirits now. He can just ask her whenever he wants to use saint rank magic and that’s a big powerup.

And his finisher too. I thought he’ll use his dagger to kill him but he instead sacrificed him. What a madlad.

I guess this is how Great Sage falls in love. Makoto you bastard! To think even when travelling back in time you’ll still get another girl. I’m so jealo-, I mean angry! I hope you explode this Valentine’s day, you dense brute!

    1. It was thanks to his experience against the other Demon Lord Confidant, before meeting Setekh (I honestly forgot her name).
Eir explained before that those Confidants are essentially immortal and can be revived as long as Bifrons is alive, and teached Makoto how to kill them once and for all.

…without even telling him that it just a sacrifical offer for stocking points to next hero revelation with a gruesome visuals…

      1. I doubt his dagger can’t kill undeads when it can kill Gods which are absolutely more powerful.

When I look closely, it is not only her body that’s being eaten.
(Mana? …No, it feels as if her soul itself is being eaten…) (Furiae)
Normally, the only way to defeat an undead is to ‘purify’ them with holy magic…
The Fate Threads connecting Shuri were being cut one after the other.
        Them being cut means…the end.

This is how Furiae described Shuri’s death in the perspective of a destiny magic user using sacrificial magic. Since Makoto’s dagger can cut fate threads, it essentially cuts the connection between the undead and Bifrons thereby killing them.

Eir only said that to trick Makoto into producing more heroes for her. Plus, it isn’t Makoto’s style to go on close combat even with an OP weapon. The only added benefit is that he gains more lifespan than if he just kills it normally.

      2. @Asphyxia : while the dagger itself can likely kill undeads, the thing about Bifrons reviving them is likely still on the table unless Makoto also cut their ties to Bifrons. This is something he couldn’t do earlier because he lacked Destiny Magic. And while he can do it now, it’s still more convenient to use the sacrificial technique since it’s literally stab and forget rather than needing to snip their Strings manually. That it also raises his lifespan significantly is another motivation. And besides, there’s no real concern about letting Eir reincarnate them. She’s the patron of the nation he’s serving, giving her more power to bring to bear is giving Rozes more power to defend itself.

It certainly doesn’t really fit him to go close and stab his enemies, but it needs to be noted that he does need a way to kill incapacitated enemies. His Water Magic has a pretty bad track record when it comes to killing outright, even when used via Spirits. And while he can probably just carve up the frozen statues with the knife, that’d take much longer.

@Andre Stakov : not just though. While it certainly is something Eir used to facilitate building up power, and that she hid that particular purpose by forgetting to mention it, it really does serve to permakill enemies that can normally be brought back if killed otherwise. She wasn’t lying at all when she said it could kill enemies like Shuri permanently. Shuri reborn as a hero of the Water Country still isn’t Shuri, not an enemy, at least until she loses her mind and goes batshit.

  11. “I was eaten by the spell of the human that I looked down on as livestock…and died.” sounds like a title of an Isekai novel lol! is balam is gonna be isekaing????

    1. He’s not going to get isekai-ed but he will be reincarnated in that world so a proper title would be like “I Died as a Demon and Got Reincarnated as a Hero” or “That Time I Got Reincarnated as A Demon”.

      1. “That Time I Got Reincarnated as A Demon”
Not as a demon, FROM a demon, or as A Hero
“That Time I Got Reincarnated from A Demon”
“That Time I Got Reincarnated as A Hero”

    1. You know, I think this is Makoto’s first contact with any of the gods in the past? Eir must be having a very strange day. Say she’s hanging out having just lost her water hero; perhaps having just reincarnated the water hero as a baby when all of a sudden *poof*! Angel babies drop a demon general soul in your lap.
      Like; iosebgieubvisdujbebfiwubiwwhatdidaherobabykillthisvampiregeneralorhowdidthisevenhappen?

      1. Considering how the act of raising the dagger is particularly described, he probably raised it higher. Hand held straight, dagger raised towards the sky. Think an Aztec priest offering a freshly ripped-out heart. Still good though.

  12. ◇POV of a certain Demon Lord Confidant◇

My name is Yoshikage Kira. I’m 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don’t smoke, but I occasionally drink. I’m in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I’m trying to explain that I’m a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn’t lose to anyone.

Anyone else or is it just me?

  13. Makes sense that Cain would use spirit magic, and I imagine this is why Noah warned Makoto against ordering the spirits around. I’m guessing Cain will/had use/d spirit language to order the spirits to attack Makoto and gets/had his ass handed to him because Makoto is the Spirit’s favorite boy.

    1. More like, probably Cain is the type to order the spirits around? That’d also explain why he’s better known for his sword and armor despite using spirit magic, his use of Spirit Magic is likely limited if the spirits don’t like him.

  14. I have a feeling as to why the great sage didn’t admit to him meeting her waa either to discourage him from going because something is going to happen or some sort of space time law.

    1. I’m thinking Makoto probably told her something like “Keep it absolutely secret, even from me… especially from me.” Seems like the thing to do in that case.

      1. There’s also the need to properly cleanse them first. It was mentioned that reincarnating Shuri too fast might cause her to go insane because of the lack of said cleansing, but a thousand years should be enough time for the cleansing.

    1. I’m guessing that for the sake of causality, they can’t use him until after the point Makoto went back. So a powerful pawn that Eir has to hold onto for a long time before playing.

  15. Now, my friends, neighbors, associates, we have come to a really juicy part of the story; I started laughing at the beginning and was seriously cracking up at the end. Makoto has gone back into assassin/hitman mode. I thought there was something wrong when he turned off Clear Mind. It appears like he didn’t need it. RPG player is a rough customer to deal with, plus he’s still undefeated against Demon Lords. I didn’t know vampires can blush, did she get hot or something through his actions? He actually did and said something cool! The Great Philanderer. Getting ten-year-old vampires to fall heavily for him. I thought the Great Sage had a real fondness for him and now we know why. I’m on the side of those that think his accomplishments are those Abel took credit for, for real. Thanks for the chapter, Reigokai.

  16. Even if I don’t like Loli I hope that we see some vampire with great sage aka Momo. I would like too see the start of romance and when Makoto returned our sage started where the left one. I really like this story but it one of the few story where I hope it going haarem like rokujouma (maybe 😉 ) or Campione. I mean he has so Many good “choices” The Lamia, princess Sophia, princess/holy maiden furi and an erfou 😉 (I would mind if she is because of her demon heritage more a dark elf ;)). They even have some interesting pairing. Lamia(childhood friend)/Elf (“First lover”). Princcess Sophia/Janet (Princess vs Nobility). Furi/
great sage could your with everyone and then the goddesses Noah/Eris

  17. Ah yes I believe the technical term for what happened to Balam here is called ‘Getting RIGGEDY REKT.’

So I guess Makoto is still planning to fulfill Eir’s request of offering 10 souls to turn into heroes. Well Eir has helped him the most besides Noah and he’s even said that if he had to convert to another goddess then he would choose Eir. She’s practically his second goddess he believes in -the fact that she’s a big breasted Ara Ara onee-san certainly helps. Anyways so that’s 2 out of 10 souls offered to turn into heroes, 8 more to go. By the time he returns to the present I won’t be surprised if Rozes ends up being the leader of all the nations instead of Highland because they suddenly have 10 heroes because Eir decided to convert their souls slowly so that they wouldn’t be short lived berserkers like how she was originally intending and also to have a ready force for her Mako-kun to take command of. That said I do wonder what would happen if Makoto used Sacrificial Offering on this era’s Shuri too?

      1. Yeah she requested 10 because she said after she got found out tricking Makoto into making heroes for her that since they had a high chance of losing when Iblis resurrected that she wanted to prepare for what would happen next. She planned to reincarnate 10 souls quickly for that but because it would be so quick she was expecting half would reincarnate insane so really she only expected 5 to be functional. Well she’ll now have 1000 years to slowly reincarnate any souls so they should all turn out well adjusted and Makoto being Makoto, he’ll probably forget that 10 was only the amount requested because half weren’t expected to survive and he’ll actually try to get 10 sacrifices.

      2. Tacos1 your wrong about the line that only 10 was requested, Makoto probably forgot that it was requested in the first place and nonchalantly go sacrificing powerful demons to increase his lifespan.

      3. @Trail Blazer: No Eir did request 10 souls to be offered. From chapter 147: “That’s why I want you to offer me a whole lot more souls of demons, Mako-kun☆. If we make 10 Heroes, even if we lose the war, we can get them back later. Well, there might be less than 5 people who can even function properly though. The remaining ones would be crazy in the head and would die, I guess?” (Eir)

      4. tacos1
“If we make 10 Heroes…” IF, she didn’t make a request for him to go gather souls, just stating statistics regarding the counter attack if they lose

      5. No, she never requested for any specific number. She only said something along the line of if she had ten more then there’s hope even if they were to fail in their first try. Makoto might have taken that as a request, but I’m doubtful. He’s more likely to be treating the sacrificial technique as a convenient, sure-kill technique.

  18. Oooo, “Death God for demons”
That had quite a nice ring to it
Enemy’s pov on this curb stomping was nice~
“It’s not as if he has infinite mana” – seriously nice jinx, an exemplary embodiment of how to jinx one’s demise.
….Now poor enamored vampire loli and crybaby hero are wet in another sense. Showing them Makoto’s Fatality from the close. Poor Furi-chan also almost wet herself after seeing it. Even though of him as a feind

  19. ….Is it rude to say that Momo becomes less cute in the future? She’s quite bubbly and energetic here. Very adorable.

Ha. That guy reminds me of Geralt. Getting all passionate all on his own. Humans are under no obligation to respect him or cater to his desires.
The opposite of any emotion, love or hate, is indifference, and Takki feels no need to feel anything towards the small fry. Balam is just midboss with an annoying gimmick, and RPG Players are the ones that are actually scary.

Kinda fun to see the sacrificial technique make a comeback. Wonder if the Eir of this time is confused. All things considered, assuming Noah can’t accept any of them, invoking her name works out quite well, since she’s in the weakest position come present-day and we’re effectively giving Rozes a good kick up while keeping any of the other countries from going crazy in terms of influence.

      1. Assuming the one in the coffin really is Makoto, I’m now imagining that she normally sleep hugging the coffin. Unfortunately it doesn’t provide as much Makotonium as hugging the person himself.

    1. She might be holding it back to avoid time or Makoto’s choice complications. See her little gesture everytime they’re together, like requesting him to sit exclusively beside her, surprised when she got headpatted, holding her head down when receiving news of Bifrons demise likely hiding her emotions from Makoto, casually sleeping on Makoto’s shoulder after finishing Zagan, etc.

  20. ohohoho. our hero, no he is no longer a hero. our boi is scary~ i want to know if he intend to defeat bifrons now or run away for a while. he used a lot of spirit-san help in this battle and abel is barehanded, so he maybe trying to run away for now ‘-‘)

  21. This guy is going to end up being the founder of that one guardian knight guys family that have that strong guard skill and who kept living through stuff back in the 1000 years later time.

  22. Ah, I guess the reason why Momo called Makoto “spirit user-kun” is because she doesn’t want to call him “Makoto” without “-sama” honorific. Can’t wait until he goes back and Momo started calling him “Makoto-sama” lmao.

  23. say the people send assassin from future first..

that really insulting to ant & mosquito, they still better than balam at least.

I almost forgot that he has the skill offering..
won’t Eir-sama notice him later, due to the fact she suddenly got new soul without remembering giving skill. (since the one has memory of future is Ira).
if he suddenly recognized as New Water Hero (in Past) won’t it affect their country too much, they have small territory due to small contribution but with a chance Makoto become their hero and the first to kill Demon Confidant it is good contribution.

    1. Eir can probably confirm with Ira. it’s doubtful if Makoto will ever get Eir’s Hero skill, and without that people can call him whatever but he’s still not the Water Hero.

Makoto is likely to rely on that sacrificial technique quite a bit here, since the enemies are proportionately stronger. Considering that, it kinda explains Eir’s fondness for Mako-kun.

    1. That’s only assuming he actually heard Makoto offering up to Eir. Balam did because he’s in stabbing distance, but Abel should be somewhat further with Momo. And seriously, it doesn’t really explain anything. People are usually only associated with one deity, while with this Makoto has shown affiliation with one and claimed affiliation with another.

    2. Abel’s perspective:
Makoto claimed he got an oracle from Athena.
Yet the appraisal skill says he’s not a believer in any god, making that claim seem like an absolute lie.
      Makoto then sacrifices to Eir.
If you look at Abel’s perspective, not one thing makes sense.

More over with Makoto having garbage stats – yet curb stomping a large group of demons including the strongest follower of the Demon Lord Bifrons – without even a change of facial expression.
      Nothing adds up here…

      1. Abel is gonna be real confused after this, you dont think Abel will request Makoto to train him do you? Is this how the legend of the savior Abel begins, by spartan training from Makoto? Nah but it would be kinda funny

  24. Thanks for the chapter!
    A death God for demons……
This was when the tales of the legendary death God Makoto started…… And died lol.
    Hmmmmmm…..
Don’t worry Makoto, you’re already a airheaded gigolo and a ikemen so you should just concentrate that you accidentally don’t lose your v-card on the hands of a certain vampire loli.
    even undine joined the harem.
    Well, as expected.

  25. As ever, it starts with all the arrogance in the world. And then they die broken and in despair. It never gets old. How long can Makoto last? Ask yourself first, how long can you last? And then his eye, his last, best weapon, failed to no effect. How does it feel, being looked down upon by an enemy so unaffected by anything you do?

Ah, Balam, it was never a fight between equals. That sort of fight is where you exchange blows in close combat, meeting eyes with your opponent as you strike with all your grudge, with your honor at stake. There is no such thing when you’re up against Makoto. He looks down from on high, deciding what to do with this event of yours. And then the sound of chewed up flesh and cracking bones, and your scream, all confirms to him that your event is coming to an end. And when it ends, so are you, no longer of any relevance, no longer of any importance.

    Here lies Balam
In life and in death, as his kind ever are.
    As arrogant in life.
    As desperate in dying.
    As broken up in death.
    Rest in pieces

On an unrelated note, those angels look like babies, but with teeth huh? Cue Drakengard flashbacks. This does confirm the author’s love for Drakengard (or Drag-on Dragoon as per its JP title).

  26. Thanks for the chapter. Once again, Makoto shows how terrifying he can be and easily dispatches Balam. The sacrificial technique was a nice touch, since it also allows him to gain lifespan. I would say that this could also be a solution to the whole ‘you have to wait for 100 years until the Holy Gods have enough power to send you back’, but I think it was stated that humans cannot go beyond 100 years in terms of lifespan regardless of contributions.

  27. I always love this contrast between how Makoto sees his actions and how those around him see it, be they friend or foe. I wonder if past Eri will notice Makoto thanks to that sacrifice and yeah that transformation into the spirit king definitely left some kind of mark. From his reaction when he realized Makoto is using spirit magic it’s likely safe to assume that Cain is weaker then him at it so the question is, what happens when 2 spirit users Duke it out? Will cain try to call the spirits only for them to ignore him or will they come but immediately follow Makoto’s will once he says something? Or will Makoto simply brute force him into submission

  28. Surprsingly, this chapter is best combo’ed with a coffee. Your coffee will surprisingly delicious while reading this chapter….

  29. Thanks for the chapter~!

[“Momo, as an apology for being late to get you, I will avenge you.” (Makoto)
    I said to Momo.
    “Eh?” (Momo)
She raised her voice and her cheeks dyed pink.
Did I act a bit too cool there?]
And she falls then and there. Sasuga gigolo Makoto.

[“Impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible…” (Balam)]
Would be funny if Makoto counters it with the word “Futile” multiple times
That Undine count as a stand right?
    WRRRRYYYYYYYYYY

RIP Balaam, you won’t be remembered.

Makoto’s calmness is probably not because overusing [Clear Mind], but due to his personality, experience and the effect of [RPG Player], so his coldness and uncaring attitude as felt by Balaam is because to Makoto it feels like fighting enemy in front of a screen.

Here’s a theory and food for thought:

Maybe, there’s more secret inside every [Player] skill. Maybe some of it’s power are a replica of god’s power, and each of those skills grants some degree of divinity. Sa-san’s [Action Game Player] affected the body (rainbow aura signifies divinity). Fuji-yan’s [Galge Player] made him able to read hearts, while Makoto’s [RPG Player] net him with perspective and choice-making authority usually possessed by a god.

    1. On another note, Makoto is an assassin from the future eh?
Will somebody who was sent to the past said “Come with me if you want to live!” to Iblis?
It was surprisingly matched because though it was sealed, Makoto has a transparent liquid form.

  30. Thank you for the chapter!

I just had the craziest idea: since he “offered” Balam’s soul for Eir to “clean” and reincarnate, what are the odds of him being Leonard? LOLOLOLOL

  31. Death god means Shinigami. I know that from Bleach!

Hahaha like we needed anymore evidence that Makoto was already insane from childhood.

Momo has heart shape eyes like a goudere now? How is Makoto going to be able to separate from her later with this level of attachment?

  32. This is my first time commenting in this site (even though i was reading this for like 2 months maybe)… And I’m still not used commenting using wordpress 😀 (cause usually I’m using disquss for commenting)
    .
    .
And yep thanks for translating this awesome novel Reigokai-sama.
Makoto really sure know to expand his harem even in this past timeline huh… Maybe in the future he will get his harem expanded to the god realm??? Cause I wanna see him beating Zeus and get whole lot attention from god realm and demon realm 😀

  33. This is way better, the story is much more entertaining when there is no shitty waifu wars.

Aaand, he ended up meeting the Great Sage when she was younger, I hope she remebers him when he goes back to the future

  34. If you put it like this we can see how scary Makoto really is, wait to see Abel pov seeing Demon lord confidant get eaten alive and is Eir also have merge memory? Because that will be confusing for her suddenly get a strong soul and the Demons will remember him as Human that eats Demon their Death God.

  35. thanks for chap
lol he eats demon generals for breakfast and demon lords for lunch.btw undine calls him king becuz of him transforming into the king of water spirits ,the spirit weapon right?

yep the scary aspect of calm mind came out, being an emotionless monster.

  36. Oh my god, this shit was intense, the way he described makoto really is amazing, and I didn’t think I would see the angels here again

  37. Iirc, The water goddess told Makoto to use this technique to kill Bifrons since it had already worked on the commander. This begets the question, who was the original one to use the technique? A nice little time paradox.

    1. No, the goddess is the first one to use the technique, this is their secret move to get lifespans after all
Also that commander is Shuri in the future

      1. Let me correct myself: who was the first to use it as an anti-immortality attack?
This kind of thing is typically done by clergymen on livestock or half-dead monsters as a prayer/sacrifice. Makoto is using it as an ultimate attack on a demon king. The difference of usage is large enough (and might require Makoto’s god-tier dagger as a catalyst) that it begets the question of who/when first came up with the method of attack.

The method of sacrifice and Makoto’s attack are as different as a grenade and fireworks. They both might be explosives, but the logical leap required to use a large firework as a grenade is noteworthy.

      2. No no, that commander is Sofia’s guardian knight old man. His skills and even personality fit! Shuri doesn’t appear now.

  38. Since balam’s soul got recycled could the rozes guardian knight old man be the descendant the recycled soul of balam? I mean he does have an impentrable defense skill. makes sense I guess

  39. you know most isekai usually makes mc regret that he sees the world as a game and that he must take his life more seriously and not be in danger but damn this isekai literally takes the mc as a psychopath cause he sees the world as a game, thats scary asf if you think that most enemies with wills of their own will be killed by the mc with the thought they are mere mobs or exp

    1. If there is one point i really like of Weakest Mage is exactly that one, Makoto being so disconnected of all, which is something he double downs on, RPG player perspective change, Clear Mind eliminating emotions and then the way he was taught by Noah to use spirits and his spirits arm, on reread, she explains how god’s view the world and use the spirits, which he then actually gets to copy

      1. Right? Since I started reading through this again I noticed that Noah was basically grooming makoto to use his skills and spirit spells with effects in line with miracles. Of course miracles are superior since they’re fueled by divinity where as most mortals use mana to power their spells and the outlier makoto is the exception since he uses ether. Even still ether powered spells are at best quasi-god tier. It’s not clarified but we know refining an absurd amount of mana makes a small amount of ether and following logic refine despairing amounts of ether and you get divinity. Yet he was using spirit and destiny magic with effects that clearly exceed what standard spells can do. 4 examples being
1: Noah showing him how to use spirits and the subsequent method he used to save the fire country’s Capitol.
2: the previous chapter, cutting a string of fate directly instead of severing it the normal way, by killing the person the other end is connected to.
3: the rainstorm he makes on the way to bifron’s castle.
4: the dozing snow spell in the north continent.

It feels like she was giving him subconscious ques that lead him to having an outlook on using magic not so different from how a god views using miracles.

        1. precisely, its even interesting how, in a chapter pretty long ago, Lucy mentions how chantless spells work, you form the magic and then invoke it omitting the chant but still takes a few seconds, but makoto its like he just “wills it”, if he wants it to rain, it does, and so on, and then how he even copies the vampires move tech of becoming mist before assaulting bifrons castle later, makoto own view of magic and things in general is just so out of normal, and the base for it is even before he gets isekai’d, like, who in the hell thinks of making a game of breaking windows, carry the iron balls and stones for it and the objective actually be just to see how many cops would come before he gets caught

  40. This chapter….is something else. Still one of my favorite chapters in the series

“The Heroes I have confronted until now have righteous indignation, had hatred because of the oppressed humans, were avengers that had their loved ones killed; all of them would move from powerful emotions.

    But he is different.

Sense of righteousness, hatred, revenge; he has none of those.

It was as if this were his ‘job’.”

This gave me chills when I first read this. From the POV we first see from Abel to this, we can clearly see that Makoto’s entire vibe is completely different from before he came here. Is it because of the stakes of him failing his mission? Or is it the penalty of Calm Mind? Or…is the personality of Makoto himself changing for these types of moments?

  41. He kills demons as if it were breathing
    You mean demon slayer

And damn he was the one to create the old man knight of rozes

  42. I would love to see eir’s reaction to suddenly being offered a demon lord confidant’s soul without knowing who did it. Lol

  43. I was eaten by the spell of the human that I looked down on as livestock…and died.

Sounds like a name for an isekai story.
