WM – Chapter 239: Takatsuki Makoto meets the Holy Dragon

—Hero Abel and the Holy Dragon Helemerck.

I have seen it here and there in the bronze statues of settlements, picture books, and murals of churches about the Dark Era.

It is drawn in many places as the most symbolic figure of the Legendary Heroes defeating the Great Demon Lords.

And so, there’s a dragon with pure white scales lying down right in front of me.

Ooh…so that’s the legendary Holy Dragon…

I forgot about my Clear Mind Skill and was moved for a while.

“M-Master…” (Momo)

Momo grabbed my arm tightly.

“What’s the matter, Momo?” (Makoto)

“No, ‘what’s the matter’ you ask…?” (Momo)

Momo was trembling.

“Makoto-san…that’s the lord of Laberintos.” (Abel)

“The lord of Laberintos?” (Makoto)

Abel said this as he looked at the white dragon.

“The legendary Ancient Dragon that’s rumored to be in the Deepest Floor of Laberintos and is said to have lived for more than 10,000 years… To think it actually existed…” (Abel)

Hero Abel’s voice was trembling.

10,000 years?!

That’s impressive!

As expected of the Ancient Dragon of Savior Abel-sama.

“Well, for now, let’s go talk to it.” (Makoto)

““?!””

Hero Abel and Momo were looking at me with a strange gaze.

As if they were looking at a weirdo.

Did I say something that weird?

I glanced at the Great Water Spirit.

“What’s the matter, Our King?” (Dia)

“No, it is nothing.” (Makoto)

This one is the same as always.

She is stretching.

I walk towards the white dragon, and Hero Abel and Momo follow behind slowly.

The giant white dragon had its eyes closed, but it is not like it was sleeping huh.

As proof of that, when we got around 10 meters close to it, it opened its eyes slightly and looked down at us.

Looking at it closely really gives a whole different level of pressure.

“Nice to meet you, my name is Makoto.” (Makoto)

I introduced myself.

But there was no response.

Did it not hear me?

“Uhm~, can you hear me…Holy Dragon-sama?” (Makoto)

“……”

Eh?

Could it be that the human language doesn’t work?

This is troubling…

“Could it be that you don’t understand what I—” (Makoto)

(What’s your business here, human?)

A voice resonated inside my head.

C-Could this possibly be…?! The type that speaks directly to your mind?!

“Uhm…we are travelling in order to defeat the Great Demon Lord. Can you please lend us your help?” (Makoto)

I noticed after saying this, but isn’t this something that would be better for Hero Abel to say?

(Why should I have to lend my help to humans?)

The response I got wasn’t favorable.

Or more like, it was really cold.

“M-Makoto-san…” (Abel)

“Master…” (Momo)

Hero Abel and the Great Sage-sama are pulling my clothes from the back.

“What’s the matter?” (Makoto)

When I turned around, the two had stiff faces.

“L-Let’s leave…” (Abel)

“I think that Dragon-sama is angry…” (Momo)

Really?

It is a legendary Holy Dragon, so I don’t think it is that short tempered though.

I once again look at the white dragon, but it seems like it has already lost interest in us, it had its eyes closed.

It doesn’t seem to react to Hero Abel either.

Eeh? It isn’t lending us its help?

Did we come here too soon…?

According to the picture book of the Legend of Hero Abel, the White Holy Dragon becomes their comrade after defeating Bifrons.

‘The legendary dragon acknowledges them after defeating a Demon Lord’, that might be the thing here.

Looks like it won’t be helping us at present.

Can’t be helped. Let’s go back.

Let’s just consider the fact that we managed to reach the Deepest Floor of Laberintos as progress.

It was at that moment…

A violent gale happened and the ground shook.

A giant red shadow appeared in front of us.

An Ancient Dragon that had red scales like they were burning.

That dragon licked its lips and spoke in human tongue.

“Hey, Mother Dragon, ain’t gonna care if I eat them, right?”

O-Oi oi.

An Ancient Dragon is like a grandpa or a grandma of more than a millennia old, right?

There’s a yankee-like Ancient Dragon like this?!

“Makoto-san! This dragon is the legendary town eater red dragon! A violent Ancient Dragon that takes a liking in attacking humans! The amount of villages this one has destroyed are uncountable!” (Abel)

“Hiih!” (Momo)

Momo screamed at the words of Hero Abel.

I see…

An Ancient Dragon that has a liking for eating humans…

So a dragon like that has its eyes on us.

This is troubling.

“White

Dragon-sama, we didn’t come here to fight. We will obediently leave, so can you please spare us?” (Makoto)

I spoke not to the red dragon but the white holy dragon that must have a higher standing.

But…

(Do as you please.)

I could tell those words were not directed at us but the Red Dragon.

The next instant, the mouth of the Red Dragon warped into a smile, and it attacked us.

This…what should we do?

I grabbed the hand of Dia.

“Time Magic: [Mind Accel].” (Makoto)

I activate Destiny Magic.

It is elementary magic that I have been training at lately.

This spell is originally a spell that allows you to extend 1 second to several tens of times more inside your head.

That effect also goes to Dia who I am holding hands with.

I synchronize with Dia, and speak to her.

(Dia, can you hear me?) (Makoto)

(Yes, Our King. What’s the matter?) (Dia)

(I don’t want to fight the comrade of the Holy Dragon…) (Makoto)

(But that red lizard is insolently saying it wants to eat Our King though?) (Dia)

The eyes of Dia were cold.

I can see that she is slightly infuriated.

(Dia, please incapacitate it without killing it.) (Makoto)

(Yes, Our King.) (Dia)

The effect of the Mind Accel ran out.

“[Freezing Breath].” (Dia)

I heard the voice of Dia.

Dia blew with a ‘fuuuh’.

And then, the Red Dragon in front of us turned into an ice sculpture in the blink of an eye.

…Is this…not dead?

“Dia?” (Makoto)

“It is okay~. I held back.” (Dia)

Dia giggled at my call.

Looks like she is feeling better now.

“Eh?” (Abel)

“W-What?” (Momo)

Hero Abel and Momo were the ones who let out dumbfounded voices.

And the Ancient Dragons around as well.

After one brief silence, the Ancient Dragons stood up and directed killing intent at us.

So it did turn out like this…

“Holy Dragon-sama, we don’t want to fight your people. Please let us g—” (Makoto)

“Guoooooooh!”

“You bastard! You lowly human!”

“Don’t think you can go back alive!”

My voice was erased by the angry shouts of the other Ancient Dragons.

Nope, this won’t work.

Ancient Dragons are more short-tempered than I thought.

“Makoto-san! Let’s run away!” (Abel)

“Master! The other Ancient Dragons are attacking too!” (Momo)

Hero Abel unsheathed his sword, and Momo was chanting.

But I just came here to meet the Holy Dragon, not to fight.

And most of all, if I were to defeat them, will the Holy Dragon become our comrade?

I look at the white dragon.

But the white dragon had its eyes closed.

Looks like it has no intention of stopping the other Ancient Dragons.

“Seems like it is going to be difficult to run away, Our King.” (Dia)

Dia whispered to me as if having fun.

It is true that we are surrounded by Ancient Dragons and can’t run away.

Looks like we are in an inescapable battle.

One dragon opened its mouth intending to shoot a dragon breath.

Haah…

I once again activate Destiny Magic.

“Time Magic: [Mind Accel].” (Makoto)

(Dia, can you incapacitate all the Ancient Dragons here?) (Makoto)

(Let’s see~. It might be difficult with me alone.) (Dia)

(…How many would make it possible?) (Makoto)

(I would say 4-5 would be plenty enough. Should I call them?) (Dia)

(No other choice.) (Makoto)

Can’t be helped.

(I will be taking a bit of your mana for the summoning, Our King. Is that okay?) (Dia)

(Mine…? That’s fine.) (Makoto)

My mana is close to nothing though…

Is something like that necessary?

(Fufu! Thank you very much. Then…come, my little sisters.) (Dia)

Dia waved a hand and blue light gathered in the air, and the next instant, it changed to the shape of people.

5 Undines showed up.

Their appearances are the spitting image of Dia.

(E-Eh…?) (Makoto)

My vision darkened for a second.

It felt as if strength was sapped away from my body.

And then, I felt as if lead weights were placed on both of my shoulders.

This feeling…could it be…

“Hey, Dia, how much of my lifespan did you use for the summoning of your little sisters?” (Makoto)

“Eh?” (Dia)

Dia made a shocked expression.

This girl didn’t take my mana but my lifespan.

Or more like, the mana and lifespan of Spirits is infinite.

I am sure Dia sees both of them as the same.

“Uhm…let’s see…around 10 years worth of mana?” (Dia)

“I see.” (Makoto)

10 years worth of lifespan, huh…

5 Great Water Spirits for 10 years.

So I can’t use it as I please.

Or more like, when I borrow the help of Dia, it tires me heavily. Could it be that this is also sucking my lifespan?

Looks like I will have to recharge it somewhere.

“U-Uhm…was that not good…?” (Dia)

Dia asked uneasily with sad eyes.

“No, it is okay.” (Makoto)

We are in trouble here anyways.

“I will have you work, Dia.” (Makoto)

When I say this, Dia made a big smile.

“Yes, Our King. Please order me as you please. Let’s teach these lizards that have only been living a few thousands of years their place.” (Dia)

Dia smiled cruelly.

Great Spirits really move on their emotions.

I sighed lightly and ordered the Undines.

    1. Bro.. I been wondering…. how is it that every time you are always in the first 3 posted comments. 😑…. are you like smashing F5 like your life depends on it every single night ….. anyway I salute your resolution … and stubbornness to be the top every single release

      1. I follow the ways of the spider.
First the chapters are posted between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm so it’s at a very accessible time for me
Second even if I’m driving I’ll hold the phone in one hand ready to post the comment (I don’t read and drive… when it’s dark)
Third I just love this novel and tsuki ga

        1. Only legends prioritize commenting before driving. He’s a madlad that still beats us that shows us the amount of training you need to reach the top of no-life. I have much to learn.

    2. Savioroffrance… I know you guys use the app, it was just a joke. I’m a casual reader so usually don’t mind much about commenting…. 😒 .. but you guys seem to be in a competition to see who post the most first comments; and the winner gets isekai-ed or gets a date with truck kun…

    1. And then, the Red Dragon in front of us turned into an ice sculpture in the blink of an eye.
      …Is this…not dead?
Makoto has grown so much ! He is now able to defeat an Ancient Dragon in one hit.

“Or more like, when I borrow the help of Dia, it tires me heavily. Could it be that this is also sucking my lifespan?
Looks like I will have to recharge it somewhere.”
So using Dia is sucking the lifespan of Makoto ? Is the author nerfing Makoto ?

““Yes, Our King. Please order me as you please. Let’s teach these lizards that have only been living a few thousands of years their place.” (Dia)
      Dia smiled cruelly. ”
Great Spirits really move on their emotions.

Time to do some dragon slaying and offering ~
      https://i.imgur.com/vVylX1G.jpg

      1. I wonder if it would be dragon icecream or dragon kebab?
        —-
Girls 1000y later after getting to the deepest floor: “Whoa, why are there so many ice sculptures of dragons here?”

          1. Why do you think Althena asked Ira to work her ass out on fixing changes of history? And Ira-chan is a natural airhead. They can see it before Ira-chan arrives with urgent patch. If not even they will be to call Ira for fixes.
Else I see no reason for that intermission of them going Labyrinth around same “time”

          2. I think Ira will probably fail to fix history properly due to the influence of RPG Player. It would be funny if Lucy and Aya meets those Ancient Dragons and the Dragons can remember Makoto and are traumatized by him (if they are still alive lol).

          3. Ye, also a plausible way of playing this card. Like ‘dragons smelled Makoto’s scent on girls and went straight into trauma’s panic strike’.
Btw, check Ira’s reaction when she saw RPG choices(and how Noah stopped her from talking). And how Furi is always terrified when she sees them. Somehow reminds how normal ppl react onto seeing God(titan at least). His rpg is probably a shard of some ancient god’s authority? Maybe even Chronos'(like how destiny and time magic are intertwined)

      2. By the way how to do you think makoto will return to the future?

I think it’s related to the black coffin that makoto saw in the great sage room like he ordered Dia to freeze him without killing him and only release him after defeating the great demon lord in the past.

    1. So summoning more Undines isn’t free of cost, and 10yrs of your lifespan for 5 of them is somewhat a fair trade. Makoto can replenish those lifespan easily with good deeds after he gets back to the present right? Or am I wrong?

      1. 5y was worth 30minutes of Godshield,
and adding 2(1) god-tier enchantments on a noob spell(to kill Astaroth’ aide dragon) took 10y.
Hard to seriously calculate proportion. Will these Undi-sans stay somewhere nearby?

  1. Thanks for the chapter!

“Seems like it is going to be difficult to run away, Our King.” (Dia)
Dia whispered to me as if having fun.

So Dia is the substitute for Aya in the past lol

Makoto, threatening the Holy Dragon to help him or he will freeze all the Dragonkin
Damn, in no time he will be a Mafia Boss for the Dragon, getting a position in the dragonkin higher than even the Holy Dragon itself (him, her? Maybe we’ll see)! xD

  2. Ah shi~
    Here we go again~
    —-
Interesting idea of Mana measured in Lifespan. Here goes that aide’s sacrifice payment though…

  3. “Hero Abel and the Holy Dragon Helemerck.”
This itself disproves the theory that Anna is the dragon. Or maybe the dragon when turning to a girl is named Anna. There is that possibility too.

    “Time Magic: [Mind Accel].” (Makoto)

    I activate Destiny Magic.

It is elementary magic that I have been training at lately.

This spell is originally a spell that allows you to extend 1 second to several tens of times more inside your head.

New skill unlocked! The author’s making him more and more overpowered by removing his weaknesses one by one. If he can see the movements of melee enemies, it’s going to be tough to kill him now. Maybe next with sun magic he learns how to self heal?

“Yes, Our King. Please order me as you please. Let’s teach these lizards that have only been living a few thousands of years their place.” (Dia)
    Dia smiled cruelly.
Great Spirits really move on their emotions.
I sighed lightly and ordered the Undines.

Woah, calm down bully! You’re gonna break them apart next. Next chapter would basically be him stomping the dragons haha. Go Makoto!

    1. I think both, this will be a hajime treatment. Massacre their pride * ahem* and make them submit with a Ice Rod 😂. Just what a certain commentor say in the past chapters 😂.

      1. Please, if total obedience is needed, you might as well throw in a growth rate to rival heroes in it. What Makoto would need is a bat. Preferably metal, but wooden is acceptable. Has to be from a world tree though.

        1. @archeisse😂. Well a bat and stick in a world tree not available in his arsenal so, I think ice is still acceptable, It just need to be Enchant it.

    2. Otakukamikazes san, I think makoto only freeze then, not kill them in order to make good impressions to holy dragon. I think, maybe… 😂

Think if the personality of dragon will be change more like tsundere or masochist, I cann’t stop laughing now… 😂 😂 😂

  4. As expected of the Ancient Dragon of Savior Abel-sama.
“Well, for now, let’s go talk to it.” (Makoto)
Hero Abel and Momo were looking at me with a strange gaze.
As if they were looking at a weirdo.
Did I say something that weird?
I glanced at the Great Water Spirit.
“What’s the matter, Our King?” (Dia)
    “No, it is nothing.” (Makoto)

I still forgot that makoto is not normal person. Who is in the right mind talking to an ancient dragon that have a risk to dying. 😅🤣

“Uhm…we are travelling in order to defeat the Great Demon Lord. Can you please lend us your help?” (Makoto)
Dragon-sama, we didn’t come here to fight. We will obediently leave, so can you please spare us?” (Makoto)

    Makoto is polite 😑🙃.

    “Time Magic: [Mind Accel].” (Makoto)

Finally, some Destiny magic has been shown. 🙃

    Dia blew with a ‘fuuuh’.
And then, the Red Dragon in front of us turned into an ice sculpture in the blink of an eye.
    …Is this…not dead?
    “Dia?” (Makoto)
“It is okay~. I held back.” (Dia)
“Seems like it is going to be difficult to run away, Our King.” (Dia)
Dia whispered to me as if having fun.

    [Dia smiled cruelly]

One think that makoto attract is their unique just like him, (their dangerous girls😂)

  5. Looks like I will have to recharge it somewhere.

He talked about lifespan already be a type of mana(fuel) he must use continuously and easily to replenish.
I think this might be why the holy church under Anna in the future (past) banning the use of sacrificial magic cause she can’t bear watching people suffer like Makoto when using it (my thoughts for the future)

    1. A great thought! Like seeing your lover lose lifespan just for you.

Though that is kind of dumb but who knows maybe Anna saw Makoto use all of his life for them.

  6. Hmm wait? They need lifespan to use mana? Why? Maybe it already explained somewhere but i forget it. Could someone please tell me?

Anyways it’s good that makoto finally can master one desteny magic. I expect someday makoto can stop the time in the world (and maybe master timetravel magic too)

Those dragon didnt know that when 5 undine appeared it was the time that they will fucked up

      1. Wait, Why would makoto need his own mana to cast a spell ? Can he just ask undine to borrow the infinite mana of the spirit? Maybe sacrificing your lifespan was the condition for the spirit to lend their mana to its user

        1. The Undines can cast magic using their own mana. The problem is the summoning ones. My guess is, essentially, like any summoner in RPG tropes, summoning an entity cost mana. After that entity summoned, they do their bidding using their own power.

And since Makoto’s mana is so low, it’s automatically convert his live span into mana. This is akin to sacrificial magic like time travel thing done by the demon side (like those devilkin of Snake Church). They need huge amount of mana, and to supply that need, they offer living beings.

      1. Seconded, I think it’s this too. That Dia being probably unable to differentiate lifespan from mana probably means that she did it without thinking too.

I mean, is it possible that if you keep trying to exert Mana despite running on empty would cause you to burn lifespan instead, and automatically? Would explain how naturally she just took his lifespan.

    1. This girl didn’t take my mana but my lifespan.
Or more like, the mana and lifespan of Spirits is infinite.
I am sure Dia sees both of them as the same.

So based on this line. Spirits cannot tell the difference between mana and lifespan cause you know. The spirit are alive as long as their water and water can be considered mana for undine and their lifespan. So undine is both mana and lifespan. So that’s why it takes makotos lifespan as compensation for mana

  7. Well I guess he can just continue sacrificing demons to water goddess to get more lifespan so I guess it doesn’t really matter too much…. Water kingdom might be really strong in the future though so ganbatte Iris in trying to correct for time paradoxes here.

    Thanks for the chapter!

I thought it was free, buy one (dia) take all ( sisters). 😂 The payment of a spirit harem is his lifespan. 😂. Thats kinda scary

    1. Having a large harem really takes a toll on your stamina (lifespan).
He should drink some potions that could increase his stamina, else he will not survive from a sevensome (Lucy, Aya, Sofia, Furiae, Momo, Dia).

      1. Considering makoto is a walking womanizer, i think he needs a Godly stamina potion. Just in case he have unconsciously make a girl fall for him. Decides to follow him. 😂 A normal potion made in the mortal world is not enough. Even sakurai is having trouble in 20 girls, how much more on makoto when girls is stronger than him( i mean, Physical strength) 😂.

      2. Hmm, wouldn’t Dia be able to use Water Magic based healing magic? Infinite mana too! Also don’t forget Janet, Sun Magic has heals in it, would help her train her proficiency too! (Bonus!) And Momo has also shown proficiency in healing. Really, it’d probably be more a case of “wanting to die but can’t”.

    1. The fridge stuff? I think I mentioned that too in an earlier chapter’s comment. If that’s not a red herring, then we might already know where someone is in the “present”. They’ve likely gone a long way since their catfight days. The question is if there’s anyone else in there, which may explain the relative peace.

  9. ……NICE!

Without Noah around, we didn’t really have anything to sacrifice lifespan to. We’re probably going to earn more than the human limit, after all, so it basically is a mana bar. Well, more like an ammo bar?
Tee hee, Dia couldn’t tell them apart.

Well, these lizards picked a fight. Mama doesn’t have any right to complain at the consequences at this point.
    “Why should I help?”
    “Because I spared your children.”

      1. The lifespan limit is an upper limit to how long a particular species can live. I don’t think there’s actually any limit to the lifespan measured by the Soul Book though. So basically, I think it’s more like you can probably still have a total of 1000 years in your Soul Book even as a human, but you still die even when there’s still 900 years left because human. But those 900 years you can still spend freely on sacrificial techniques. Or maybe the soul book also has a limit, until something is said about that, it’s conjectures.

    1. If it really is limited to how long his natural lifespan is, then it’d be a pretty shitty ammo bar with diminishing capacity wouldn’t it? A fifty years old Makoto would only have 50 years cap since that’s the longest time he has left.

I’m personally leaning to interpreting the Soul Book display and natural lifespan limit as two separate thing. Once you’re at the end of your natural lifespan, no matter how much lifespan is displayed in your Soul Book you die. Conversely, that would also mean there’s no real limit to the recorded lifespan you can stock up and use for Sacrificial Technique. Or something like that.

  10. 10 years! It shaved 10 years of his lifespan…
A fitting price, but still… I really think that Clear Mind skill is messing with Makoto’s judgement.

    1. Not like Makoto’s judgment will make any difference. He found out about the ten years cost after the fact, so the only thing he can do now is make the best use of it. The only thing he can do with the information is to make informed decision about it later.

  11. Whe he used time magic I honestly got really excited, even if it was something little, it’s still feel good. That now that I’m talking about this, what happened with his charm magic and the cat? He haven’t futher developed the charm to high heights, yeas is still there and can have a grteat effect if the other part like Makoto, but I still want something more, and the mystery of the cat is still there.

    1. If he tries to master his charm magic, his harem will look at him with cold eyes lol.
The potency of his charm is really weak. Even if he trains it, I don’t think that it will make a huge difference.

    2. The charm magic is also limited by his mana capacity. Really when we’re talking about Makoto and magic other than Water (and Ice) that’s the big issue. He has all the fine control to make delicate carvings with a nuke equivalent, but all the magical muscle of a quadriplegic equivalent. So for him to accomplish big things, he’d need to hook up to an outside power source, the proverbial nuke as it were. Depending on his proficiency, if he were to sync with Furiae now he’d probably be able to charm Shuri (which Furi failed to do earlier) based on that fine control alone. But if he were to try it with his own mana he’d probably pass out long before it shows any effect. Really, the point of that charm magic on its own is mainly to attract Great Spirits (thus now rather obsolete with Dia around).

The cat though…, yeah makes you wonder what’s the deal with it huh?

    3. I still think that his charm magic works like pokemon’s HM. To progress the plot and your adventure. Since fate/destiny magic have many applications even though it’s a beginner level skill, maybe the one that’ll be relegated to such status will be his sun magic instead.

      1. Well, the Sun Magic control electricity and light itself, light aside, if he combine his water with electricity the result should be pretty dangerous, even light should have various things it could do.

  12. Thanks for the chapter as always

Hmmmm if a demon lord confidant near death is worth 10 years i wonder how much an ancient dragon known for being a man-eating menace is worth?

    1. Probably somewhere along that amount too? Near death or no, Shuri was an undead and I doubt her soul is even damaged regardless of the beating she took from Rosalie. It’s unclear about how it’s calculated, but the quality of the soul should matter more regardless.

Also, that dragon might very well be Makoto’s stepson later, so let’s not be too hasty. Killing a sibling is no way for a stepdad to make a first impression.

      1. Eir explained it that the technique converts the target’s lifespan and returns 1% of it to the person who invoked it. I seem to recall Shuri gave 10-15 years but I can’t recall exactly.

        1. Something around 15 years IIRC. And hmm…, if it really is based off their lifepan and gives 1%, then consider some things :
          – the Holy Dragon is said to have lived for 10k years.
          – the Red Dragon called her Mother Dragon, so younger, assume 1000 years younger for now
So even if the only. part getting counted is the 1000 years, it’s already worth 10 years of lifespan. Breaking even already. Then consider the other dragons….

          🤑🤑🤑

  13. Makoto now has infinite field of view and near infinite time to construct spells in. That makes him almost unbeatable. He can use water current to move himself around and can cut anything with his dagger. He could spend a week of subjective time building tiny model Eiffel towers inside his enemies’ eyeballs.

So spirits have infinite lifespans, and therefore infinite mana but they don’t regenerate sta/mana instantly. So spirits grow stronger over time and diminish themselves to use magic. Is that right? Maybe you could use time magic to accelerate the mana regeneration of a spirit? I guess that depends on how cost effective hyperbolic time chamber magic is.

    1. If they have Infinite Lifespan and Infinite Mana doesn’t that simply mean that they’re strong, period? It’s not like their lifespan increases with time, it’s infinite. And they don’t diminish either, infinite minus anything is still infinite. It’s probably why Dia was so brazen in taking Makoto’s lifespan, she has no concept of mortality so she’s unaware that the eminently mortal Makoto might have problem with it.

And Makoto still has limits for his Destiny Magic. Don’t forget his shit stats, it includes shit mana capacity. And I’m pretty sure he can’t use Undine’s mana for that, so there’s the limit. Still, stretching one second to ten second gives a lot of time to think.

      1. I think infinite in this context must mean something different than “completely bottomless” or a great spirit would have no more mana than a spirit, and Dia wouldn’t need to call reinforcements. It’s like, you might say someone has “infinite strength” if they can bench press 500 pounds forever. That doesn’t mean they’re infinitely strong and can lift infinite pounds, it just means that the strength they have won’t give out. Infinite lifespan in this context is more the upper limit on lifespan. Makoto can’t live as a human for more than 100 years even if he can gain more “lifespan” infinitely, his life’s span is finite. If Dia’s life and mana are interchangeable then it’s possible that she would die if she expended all of her mana. To extend the metaphor; she can bench 500 pounds forever but lifting 1000 pounds would exhaust her to death eventually.

But yeah, if he doesn’t have the power then all the extra time lets him do is consider how he is about to get destroyed. He can spirit-ify his arm though so he’s not entirely without resources.

  14. Yeah I bet Mama dragon is gonna take an interest in him. After all her kids obviously need a strong father figure to keep them in line.

  15. spirit can be said immortal. in that case they can use their life span as magic like sacrifical tehcniq? spirit is scary wa~

    1. I think it’s more like – a spirit doesn’t have separate hp/mp/stamina/life bars. They have one bar that is all of those, and which regenerates over time. So all spirit magic is by definition sacrificial magic, and their magic power is infinite but not inexhaustible. They don’t die because they have no life span upper limit and their life/mana bar regenerates over time. I wonder if Makoto’s lifespan regenerates in his partial spirit form?

  16. Thanks!
    \(^^)/

Everything has a price it seems.
Destiny Magic coming along nicely, I wonder if he could cast millions of spells when his Proficiency gets high enough.

  17. Takatsuki Makoto! When seeing the Lord of Laberintos, of course he’d choose to talk to it! Of course, a weirdo doesn’t realize he’s a weirdo, that’d be weird.

And then, of course, someone had to court death. Makoto might be OK with it, but Dia taking offense is expected. It’s probably for the best that she probably wasn’t involved with the Gera incident.

And then the others had to jump in as well. The usual development, really :
    > Antagonist of the Day : Who is this weakling? Let’s just kill him.
    > Makoto : Uhh, do you mind? Just let me go I’m on my way out already.
    > A : Nuh uh, NOW DIE!
    > M : Not this shit again (proceed to stompage)
Arrogance breaks into helpless horror. Will Makoto just kill them all?

I think the issue with taking Makoto’s lifespan is more because he has jack shit for mana? IIRC expenditure of lifespan can be done in place of Mana, as it was described earlier. Still, 2 years for one Undine seems super cheap when you consider that an Undine is enough to incapacitate Shuri for a sacrifice worth 15 years. Profit is profit!

    And…, the expected cliff. Welp.

  18. Thanks for the chapter ~

Ohhhhhh I can’t wait for the next chapter, in more ways than one.

Maybe this is why Makoto didn’t see dragons on the lower floors perhaps, they got scared (or maybe traumatized) by him that they never appeared again.

  19. The moment he gets any lifespan he spends it straight away…

Considering that 1000 years isn’t much for a dragon then the holy dragon is a potential harem candidate. There’s no point in adding harem moments that will stay in the past after all.

Destiny magic seems a bit interesting. I guess the reason why Ira was able to send him back to time is that destiny magic relates to time magic.

  20. So this is Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Er… I mean Holy White Dragon Helemerck. Anyways so apparently originally it was supposed to join Abel’s group after they beat Bifrons. However Makoto can screw the rules because he has money. Time to have Dia and her sisters traumatize all the dragons and force them to help them now. Who cares about doing things exactly like how history says it did.

Also that’s surprisingly cheap to summon 5 Undines. Only 10 years of lifespan needed so that’s 2 years per Undine. Makoto should have enough lifespan to pull this off a few more times. He should have a decent amount of lifespan from all the things he did in the present plus he’s done quite a bit of stuff now in the past like rescuing Momo and the heroes, using Sacrificial Offering on Balam and driving away Cain while simultaneously saving the hidden city in Laberintos and its inhabitants.

  21. Thanks for the chapter. If it’s a massacre then it will be another other’s POV!! I love these chapters. They will be terrified of Makoto’s insanity 🤣

  22. If MC can pull it off to shut those dragons, Mother dragon maybe wake up cause its the first time she would see some weak human incapacitated several dragons in a one sided battle.
She will pick her interest and try to converse to Makoto.

  23. This maybe the reason why dragon is rare species in 1000 years later. haha
Pick a fight with person who kill demi-god is like a suicide.

  24. So now we gonna add a DILF (dragon for D) and 5 new onee-san spirits.

Looks like he’d create a country just for his harem if he ever lives through that 1000 years…..

  25. well, i we are correct then lifespan won’t matter to Makoto. as there is high chance he become Spirit or Something that has High to Infinite lifespan

    1. I think the mana of Makoto here was serving more of a catalyst. The difference here is that the mana of Dia isn’t “The Mana of the King”.
So Dia was most likely going “Hey Sisters, here’s a bit of Our King’s mana, wanna you come?”

  26. Thanks for the translation!

He really just strolled on over and said “wanna hang?” to the terrifying dragon. There’s a limit to how much you can assume the stories everyone knows are accurate and how much was left out. Plus he’s just casually taking over the leadership role without even noticing. Rather than joing the hero party, the hero is totally acting like HIS party member isn’t he? This damn airhead~
The Holy Dragon clearly doesn’t care about humans at all, likely seeing them as no different than bugs. Will probably change when the bug in front of it shows the power to be a real threat. The only question is whether it’ll negotiate after a show of force, or whether Makoto will just have to beat it into submission……

I suppose there must be some sort of reason why lifespan is needed to use the Undines. Might be the same reason why Spirits don’t do anything on there own and only seem to act under the influence of people with the Spirit User skill? Something might be needed to allow them to act on the world, otherwise the spirits might have fought against the Holy Gods on their own? We shouldn’t have to speculate on this, but the author seems to be leaning on Makoto’s airheaded habit of not thinking things through until someone like Noah or one of the goddesses shows up to explain. Preferably in that sexy teacher cosplay~

  27. Thanks for the chapter~!

Yea, the dragons will probably got horribly curbstomped. I doubt he’ll outright kill them though, especially when his objective is recruitment. Will definitely planted some trauma though.

    Here’s a bit of thought:
We know the dragon is still alive in the present right? Since we never received any news, and Sakurai’s ride is a mere white wyvern. Remember how Astaroth is supposed to be the dragon’s leader or something? What if after killing the great demon lord, this holy dragon were gone because it’s doing some training for future battle?

And when Momo said she’s gone checking up on Forneus in the future, it’s not only to go away so Makoto still transformed into a Water Spirit King, but also to check on this Holy Dragon about its preparation for the present final battle.

  28. I kinda feel bad with Makoto. Even after not become Noah’s believer, his set skill is still the one that eat out his lifespan. But, thankfully, in the dark era there are plenty of fodder to replace the lost lifespan.
